I'm currently running Viper X ROM on my HOX and i want to go back to stock for the JB OTA. I've made a back up in clockwork mod before flashing custom ROM.
Can i just restore the back up or do i need to do something else before? I'm a bit concerned because i had to flash boot.img from Viper X ROM before flashing the ROM itself.
So, do i need to flash boot.img from my backed up folder (stock ROM backup) or can just restore it? Or do i need to do something else?
In order to be able to update you need to flash the stock boot.img from the backup the backup stock rom and the stock recovery .....

so i flash the stock boot.img and in recovery mode restore the backup with clockwork mod?
yes, flash the boot.img boot into recovery and wipe everything except sd card and then restore the backup. After that flash the stock recovery and you are good to go

when i flash the boot.img and then restore the backup can i use my phone normally then or do i need to flash the stock recovery?
will my phone still be rooted if i flash stock recovery or not?
will i be able to get an OTA update without flashing stock recover(if possible)/will rooted phones get OTA?
is the stock recovery CID specific or is ti model universal and where can i dl one?

1: Phone will work with stock boot.img and backup
2:root is rom related not recovery related. The stock rom backup should be root free to receive ota's
3:stock recovery is absolutely necessary to receive ota's
4:stock recovery is related to the main version
Fastboot getvar version-main
Check if it is the 1.29 or the 2.17 version. You need the recovery corresponding to that number. Example if you need the 2.17 recovery you can download any stock recovery that starts with that number !

Stock recovery's can be downloaded from there .

If you made the the backup with the custom recovery you can not use that one because it wil be the custom recovery cwm 5.8.4.0 so that's a no go
You have to download the real stock recovery !

It doesn't need to be root free. It does need to be stock, as in, all the apps are there and unmodified.

Ow yes sorry my bad
I always play on the safe side
i rooted my phone and installed CWM recovery. Now lets say i want to go back to Stock recovery. and stock Firmware (Rom) how would i go on about this ? just flash it via ODIN using the PDA option or ?
Thanks in advanced
Yes just download a complete stock rom from sam-mobile and flash it
So I rooted my G3 and I flashed twrp with flashify so I could flash xposed ( did not flash a custom ROM, just xposed) I got an OTA update so I tried flashing my stock recovery using flashify but i just got an error and had to pull the battery to reboot. I know some of you will think its pointless to root and flash a custom recovery just to revert back to stock but can anybody help me get back my stock recovery so I can get the OTA update.
You need the flash whole stock ROM via FlashTool first.

Any guide?
Is there any way to flash stock rom using twrp ? If yes please guide me with the details. Thanks in advance.
QFIL should be used if you want day 1 stock experience, stock TWRP flashable zips are also available but it does not flash all partitions unlike QFIL.
I know it could be dangerous.
But would it be possible to flash eu recovery rom by selecting from stock rom update option.
