Downgrade Dual Sim S7 to Nougat ? - Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveri

Know there are issues with the Oreo bootloader and it seems that Odin does not allow for downgrading.
Any suggestions welcomed (other than just throw the "*%%$%" thing out and go back to my rooted S6)

Heimdall should be able to downgrade
https://gitlab.com/BenjaminDobell/Heimdall

Hi,
I successfully installed /e/ (which is based on lineage 14.1 Nougat), coming from stock Oreo rom using the LineageOS wiki under Linux, using heimdall / twrp / adb
I had no problem at all, my phone is S7 Exynos single SIM

So theres way to downgrade bootloader? Heimdall can do even marshmallow?

Snapdragon Galaxy S7/S7E Nougat Root

From the T-Mo S7/E section of XDA
Worked for me just fine after OTA update from PI3.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/heres-how-rooted-nougat-s7-edge-g935t-t3567502
Any performance issues? Lag still there?
Works great!
I just want to confirm that I have successfully rooted my T-Mobile Galaxy S7 (snapdragon) running 7.0 using this procedure.
.
Does anyone know how to return my Snapdragon S7 to stock (6.0.1) after upgrading to this ROM?
I tried to do so using the "Return to Stock" method here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
However, it failed in Odin.
Has anyone successfully returned to 6.0.1 stock after flashing this Nougat Root ROM? If so, could you point me to the procedure you used?
Thank you very much.

I fixed this issue. It was due to the fact that the "Return to Stock" instructions in the thread I mentioned above suggested a stock ROM with a level "3" bootloader. This rooted Nougat ROM uses a level "4" bootloader, and the downgrade to stock failed because bootloaders can't be replaced with earlier versions of them. I just used a newer version of the stock 6.0.1 ROM with a level "4" bootloader, and I was then able to return to stock.

Sorry, never got an alert of your comment.
There is still some lag, but so far (in the ~2wks I've used it) it hasn't been nearly as evident as the MM eng kernel.

I'm currently trying to revert back to MM after Verizon's repair assistant installed N. How do I find the appropriate version? I really need to be able to install the ROM I was using prior to this.

What rom where you running? Stang5.0?
Yeah. I was able to finally Odin back to MM, the instructions I followed were missing a step.

Can anyone give me an idea on how this root performs?
Previously unrooted running MM because it was absolutely horrible.. battery drain, over heat, lag. Now I'm on Nougat and want to root but not if I have to deal with that bs again.

How did you revert? I am having issues reverting back to MM. What step was missing? Maybe I'm having the same issue.

The instructions I followed didn't have me include the BL file when flashing with Odin. It worked when I included it.

MM root had a lot of lag and battery issues.. Gonna try this one out and see how the two compare :good:

Sm-a520f = sm-a520w?

Hi,
There are plenty of rooting instructions for the SM-A520F, but I have the Canadian variant, the SM-A520W. Will the same custom recoveries etc. work with my version as well?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
fourFiddy Yes, i do believe you can root your phone using the same instructions and software as the SM-A520F. I had the same case with my s4 the international version being the GT-I9505 and me owning the SM-I337, however I am not 100% sure.
I highly advise making a backup of your entire phone if you choose to test it. However you could wait another month or two and see if specific instructions come out for rooting your phone as I am doing the same thing. The phone is fairly knew and has yet to be picked up by the community.
P.S. If you choose to go through with it I am not responsible if your phone becomes bricked or unusable, im just giving some insight and possibilities.
Good luck!
I also have a Canadian variant and the methods for the A520F worked for me.
I have a canadian variant a520w and it worked for me as well. I used TWRP
How did you install TWRP???

My SM-A520W is currently rooted on the stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 via ODIN. How did you get TWRP installed successfully? Having difficulty. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

My device is the SM-A520W. I followed the instructions for the A520F to install TWRP.. if it gives you a bunch of errors when you boot it up goto WIPE and and FORMAT DATA. I then go ahead and wipe data, cache, dalvik just for the hell of it. After doing so you can install Magisk or SuperSu from your SD Card, flash zips, create/restore backups etc. Hope this helped!!!
Edit: just to add. I used ODIN to flash 2 different firmwares. I am not sure which one I installed TWRP with (probably the android 6.0.1 one)(A520WVLS1AQH1)but I am using A520WVLU1BQI (Nougat) with ABC kernel + Magisk right now
Anyone tried the a520f lineage rom on an a520w yet?

I tried it out. A few bugs I didn't like...hard to use as a daily driver. Can't use LTE, music playback is not smooth and random reboots happen. I like the systemless root on Nougat but it's hard to find other roms to use.
What I have used so far is:
AXES rom, nougat sysless rooted and LineageOS sysless rooted.

Currently I am using LineageOS 14.1 unofficial for daily use. Prior to that I was using stockrom mini 0.5 for my A520W.

Idk how to root my lgg4

Hi new to rooting but anyways
I have a LG G4 and I want to root this bad boy
It's a CSPIRE phone and I'm on Android 6.0 I heard that you can't enter any recovery mode on Android 6 but I don't know what to do.
Please help me I'm trying to root it i need a step by step process!
If you need my build number let me know!
Thanks~
Is it H815? For android 6.0 you must unlock your bootloader, then boot to recovery via fastboot and then flash (or sideload) supersu. Or, you could possibly revert back to android 5.1 and then root via "low effort root"

How to Update to Nougat on a Rooted Device with TWRP?

Hello.
I have a Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) running on Android 6.0.1, rooted, with TWRP installed. Can someone help me out with a straightforward way to update it to Nougat (UAE version) that does not involve using a Windows PC?
I was under the assumption that I'd be able to flash a file through TWRP and be on my way. Is it not that simple?
Update: I'm sorry, I just realised that I was supposed to post this in the QnA section. I'll be more careful next time.
currently theres just no way doin that without a pc
Will there be one in the near future?
No

[6.0] TWRP and Root for Moto Z Play

Hello guys, last week I was thinking about rooting my z play, and for that I was supposed to unlock my bootloader. That's not difficult to unlock it since you don't do anything wrong, following every step of the guide you found. However, there's something different on this device, the custom recovery. I'm not able to find a thread saying that there's an official release of TWRP for Moto Z Play, and even if I'm not finding an official one, all that I can see is just for Nougat, version 7.1.1, but I want it for Marshmallow, 6.0.x because I want to get back to that version, IMO Nougat uses too much battery comparing to Marshmallow, that's one of the reasons.
Could someone please tell me if there's a trustworthy TWRP img that I can use in 6.0.x to flash either Magisk, Super SU or any other root app?
That's all guys, hope someone can help me with that, THANK YOU ALL SINCE NOW!
Obs. Currently I'm not even unlocked because I want to do everything at the same time, until I don't get a trustworthy custom recovery to flash those zip files, I won't do that. Thanks.
Why cant you just flash the lastest twrp version? And flash an rom?

Because I don't know if the latest version is really compatible with my device, since I've gone to TWRP website and checked if my device was there... Aaaand, it wasn't at the compatible devices list...
So I'm worried about that...
Any help with it?
