"Settings > my device" crashes in miui after using aftisd.cmd - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Hello
I've bought a Xiaomi redmi note 8t with 64gb of internal storage. My thought was using astiff and use my 128gb SD card as Both internal and external storage to achieve 128internal and 64external.
But that didnt work, and instead i can not use all of My settings anymore..

(Its only the subsettings "my device" that crashes)
How can i fix this?

External SD card issue on CM11 (unofficial) ROM

Hi everybody, please I need your help.
I installed on my Redmi 1S this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-1s/orig-development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-t2909757
I find it a nice, good and stable ROM.
It has only one major problem:
it says that it can't save the photos to the external SD card due to the Androis KitKat limitations.
In Settings/Storage I can't find the option to set the external SD card as a default storage place.
Probably because of this the storage capacity of the phone is not shown correctly to.
Is out there a flashable zip, or anything else to resolve this problem?
Thanks.
(Sorry for my bad English)
Hi, it is on the camera. Hit camera and find the options icon, should be on the right. Find settings and goto more settings. Change the storage from "Internal Memory" to "SDCARD".
Glad to help,

Hi, thanks for your reply.
You say: "Change the storage from "Internal Memory" to "SDCARD".
Well, that's not working.
1. When trying to change storage option, a pop-up message says that's not possible due to KitKat's limitation.
2. And yes, in Setup/Storage settings there's no option to set the external SD card as a default storage place.
3. Regardless of that, the File Manager recognizes the external SD card.
In my opinion this ROM does not contain the option to select the default external SD card, so, through an update or a flashable zip or using a custom kernel it should be included in the CM 11 ROM.
So I'm asking again: is out there a custom kernel, a flashable zip or un update that can resolve this major issue of this ROM?
Thanx.

Mediapad M2 - SDCard questions

Hi there,
I recently got an M2-802l. I'm already hitting the limits of the internal storage so I've started moving apps to the sdcard I've inserted into the device. I have a few queries about this...
1) what are the best (most compatible) sdcards people are using with their M2's?
2) I'm seeing a little sdcard error icon in the system menu. I've no idea where to check this. It's not appearing (in any obvious location) under storage. (I'm using a Sandisk Extreme pro)
3) If I resolve this sdcard error - is it possible to enable use SD as internal? I can't see the option anywhere. I can set sdcard as default. But I don't think that's the same.
Thanks in advance for any replies!
I am using the SanDisk 200GB SDCard I got from my LG V10 Promotion....working fine so far. As for #2, can you post a screen shot? #3, I am not able to find the enable SD CARD as internal storage. Huawei probably removed it. Might need to flash a custom ROM with Stock Nougat to see that option.

Hello richfort,
Officially these types of SD Cards are compatible with M2 8.0 models :
microSD
microSDHC
microSDXC
with sizes that can vary from the 1-2-4-8 GB up to 256 GB.
I have several noName, Samsung and SanDisk SD cards tested / used on the tablet without any issues so far (Samsung 32GB Evo Plus (SDHC), Samsung 128GB Evo Plus (SDXC), TDK 16GB (SDHC), SanDisk 64GB Ultra (SDXC), Integral 64GB (SDXC), etc..)
You can also use the famous Dual USB 3.0 (OTG or not) Flash Drives, depending on usage and type of activities you do with. Myself, I've never tested those with my tablet.
Concerning, the error you have, try to test another SD-Card, not PRO model, and see it the same happens.
Also, from technical point of view, SD and Internal storage are 2 different type of storage. Never tested neither but maybe the "Secure Folder" might be the answer you're looking for.
Otherwise, I would advise to leave the things as default, just be sure that SD Card is the default storage for all pictures, videos, data, caches, and related activities and needs.
Hope this helps anyhow.
Have a nice day.
Kind Regards.

Merge internal & external memory in Samsung J2 Prime

Hi guys! First of all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question.
I have a Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime, with 8GB of internal memory. But 8GB is not enough in any way for android, upgrades & apps.
Ok, I read that Android v6.0 has support for merging internal and external memory in the way that Android reconizes it as single storage. My problem is that my phone doesn't show me that option. Just says "Format as portable storage", not “Format as internal” as I read at a forum. I have installed a SD card class 10 but this is not the problem.
This is a Samsung custom setting? I need to root my phone? It's possible to do it?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, Samsung disables this option from all their devices with the excuse being: "If your MicroSD card fails, which is totally common to fail, you will lose all your apps and apps' data" (but in my opinion and a lot of people's opinion, they disable it to force you to buy a device with bigger storage )
There are two ways to do this, with root and without
If you have root, you can use the app "Root Essentials" from the PlayStore. It'll show you step by step on how to set up adoptable storage.
If you do not have root, you have to input some commands via adb, which I do not know how to do. You will have to research this on your own.
But, just as an advice. Even with adoptable storage, it doesn't work as you would expect it to work. Not all apps will be transferred to the external memory and you'll still get the message that you are running out of memory even if you have 7 out of 16 GB used up. It's not that great.
Hello, i would like to ask about this too.
I have adopted a 16Gb sandisk UHS-I SD Card to my 8Gb Samsung J2 Prime G532G, but the storage at file manager is still 8Gb and no SD Card access. BUT at storage settings it shows 13.40Gb used out of 22.80Gb. So, where did the rest go at file manager?

Samsung J5 Sd card as internal storage

Greetings, i am very new to "phone modding" and i came here because my samsung had so little Internal storage i couldnt do anything. So read the forum instructions ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...2#post73774652 ) on how to install adaptable storage to my phone and all went smoothly i suppose. That was about a month ago. Yesterday i wanted to download a big game (pubg mobile) which is about 1.1 gb and had some problems with my storage so i tried the option "Migrate data" that said it would free some gb off my phone into the card. Little to say that the migration failed and my storage was now full 8gb / 8gb. So i restarted but had some problems again. Now when i try to download an app it fails in the installation. Right now i have 2 small apps on my phone and some photos and music. My internal storage is 6.93 gb / 8gb and my card is 4.31 gb / 14.70 gb. What can i do to get it to the original state with adaptable storage. I am afraid that if i format the card and the phone the card will not work . The real problem is that when i try to download an app an error pops up that the installation failed, what can i do to solve it?
(Phone : Samsung Galaxy J5 8GB SM-J500F/DS Android 6.0.1)
*Edit when i remove my sd i can install apps and put back the sd and transfer them back to the sd but i think its bugged cause it says that the installation failed when the app is installed and working perfectly
Should i "format as portable storage" my sd , will it start working normally again and be able to install apps without removing it everytime ?

Question How to make external SD card as internal memory ( my device is rooted )

Please someone could be able to help to show me useful link I can follow in order to use my external SD card inside my device as internal memory....................
My internal memory only has 64GB ( redmi 9t ) so that I would like to do above let apps run smoothly.
Thank you very much., edmond
Wrong post bro, this page is all about poco f3, mi 11x and redmi k40. And if you're wondering these devices(actually they are same) don't even have any slot for external sd card.

Wrong forum..
But you should be able to do it with the "Files by Google", but the feature is hidden in MIUI, and there is only a modified version of the app opening up, when you launch the app "Files".
But you can access it by installing Activity Launcher from Play Store.
Then find "Files" in the list and open up one of the activities (they might not all work, but then try another).
When you find one that gets you to the main "Files" app, click on settings and choose your sd-card, and then you should be able to format it as internal memory from the storage settings
Hope this helps
