I have noticed that when I am watching videos on my Galaxy note 2 N7100 that the screen brightness will jump from whatever it is set at to a higher brightness and jump back immediately after. Its like its flickering between brightnesses even when auto brightness is off and set to full and smart stay is off, it manages to jump up and down and is quite annoying whilst enjoying a video. It happens regularly (every 2 mins for 10-15 seconds).
Any clues to what is causing it and a possible fix. I am running stock XXALIH
Thanks
Same with my friend..
I own a n7100 but I don't experience this problem..
But I have a friend who keeps bugging me that such problem exists..
Dark, low brightness he said..
Just up-ing this question..

Please check with the screen mode option in display. Set it to Dynamic and check again.

It's a wake up issue in CM10. Should have read bugtracker before installing it.
Workaround:
- Wait 4-5 seconds after turning off screen to turn it back on.
- Low brightness may turn off screen but touch will work. (weird), change the brightness to auto or high.
- Enable wake by volume button as they respond better than power button.
Don't set your min CPU freq under 200Mhz. This causes lags.
THANKS.......
Cm10
Its also a question of the brightness u have set...
if its totally low, u will be greeted with a black screen on waking the device up...
I have had the same problem all the tym..
workaround:
1. update to the latest cm10 version(benjamyn's one)...
2. cpu 245 min and 600 max..
and
3. brightness 25% to be safe..,,,,,
if I helped click thanks....

Anyone can help me please?
If I use the buttons at the pulldown menu to set the brightness to automatic it goes back to 50% after a cuple of time. When I set it into the Settings Menu it works normaly.
Good to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this irritating anomaly. Anyway, I have not found a solution as of yet. I'm running the latest build, and the problem is still there.
Problem solved by a member of telefonino.net (maorr):
-Open build.prop
-Search this line "ro.config.disablesmbacklinght=true"
-Change in "false"
-Reboot the phone
Now the problem is gone :good:

Is there a way to have the screen timeout at 45 seconds? In the settings it goes from 30 seconds to 1 minute.
i always close the screen with th button its 1 min on the settings because in 30 dont have enoght time to read something
i am using screen timeout toggle on the status bar
Hey guys.. Are you guys also experiencing problems trying to keep the Screen Timeout more than 30 secs? I've set mine to 1 min but it ALWAYS goes back to 30 secs.. This is very annoying... Any ideas or suggestions would be great! Thank you
Hi I Just want to ask why does my Z5 P takes about a few seconds ( 8-10 seconds ) to achieve full brightness after turning on the screen from sleep. For example, after activating the screen from sleep and going directly to instagram, I noticed that my phone isn't on full brightness but instead a bit dim( lets say approx 70-90% bright if basing on the brightness slider in settings). As I scroll at the pictures, I can see it slowly going to full brightness after 8-10 seconds right before my very eyes. Is it supposed to really act this way? I find this very annoying and bothersome as this happen not only in instagram but in fb and browser as well.
By the way, I always set my phone on full brightness and the adaptive brightness disabled. Smart Backlight Control also disabled. So what gives????
Thanks.
I do not have such issues... Min to max it changes immediately.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I'm not talking about the moment while youre moving the slider min to max or vice versa. What Im saying is that my brightness has always been placed at max with adaptive brightness turned off and yet when I activate the screen (for example to browse instgram or google chrome) , it doesnt go full brightness right away but instead takes approx 10 seconds to achieve the max brightnes (you can actually see the screen change it brightness right before you). I find this behavior weird. Can somebody do me a favor and try browsing instagram in a very dark room and observe if the event is also happening to your unit.
Thanks.

You are right if I set the screen brightness to minimum and turn on adaptive brightness it stays at minimum brightness... Must be a software glitch...

anyone else experiencing this. Still happening on my phone.
I just tried to do the following to see if I can repeat this issue as well.
Turn off adaptive brightness --> turn brightness to max --> load up a page on google chrome --> turn off display --> turn display back on
The screen was on max brightness every time I did this. Although I don't have access to a really dark room right now (in the office) but I can try again when I get home and see if this reproduces the issue.
