Super weird signal / wifi problem - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I bought my Mi 9SE some months ago. Everything was good, but since like two months ago my phone signal dropped to 0. The phone was unable to connect, and it wasn't a problem of APN or SIM because i tried another SIMs and the problem persists. Suddendly, one day the signal started to work again a few hours, and then go off again. Sometimes it works for days, even a week, and then drop to 0 again hours or days. But after that, Wifi started to malfunction too, like it was forcibly disabled. I can't start wifi, and if i try the phone freezes a few seconds.
The weird thing is that those two problems happens like randomly: for example, if i keep the phone on standby for a few hours, wifi start to work again, but if i use it again, it fails again after some use. Same goes to phone signal, some days it works and the suddendly stop functionaning.
I sended to Xiaomi already and they send it back to me because they coulnd't find a problem (Because the problem just happens randomly i suppose).
I don't know what to do, so i'm thinking on unlock bootloader and install a rom. What do you think? I will put here two videos of my phone that shows the problem:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gY8FqJWV_RwDR2u-KQHYU-pHt2d6yEXa
Thanks.

Hi,
I would suggest to try a different ROM. The wifi issue you have (saw the video) is generally related to wifi drivers. Now i can't say why your driver is malfunctioning without logs, especially for a stock ROM...
Good luck!

@ch4mi: wouldn't do so, because it seems to be a hardware problem and with unlocked BL you open an escape door denying service. Maybe it's caused by an antenna loosing connection by temperature. So switch it off overnight for a definite begin state, boot and look, whether the bug occurs after a certain time. Repeat it 2times. Then send it back to service with this information.

Thanks for your replys people!
I don't know if i can trust with Xiaomi Service. I already sended it like i said, and they said to me that the phone was perfect, and charged me 25€ for shipping costs... I writted to them again saying that the phone was still malfunctionating, but the only said to me that they will proceed like always, check phone and if they don't find any issue, i will pay again 25€ for shipping costs... That's why i'm thinking of change ROM.

@ch4mi: the shipping costs are mean indeed. I hoped they would be willing to repair - then such a clue would have been usefull.

Ok guys, i will send it to the Xiaomi service again, with some videos proving the issues. Thanks for your tips!

Help! Issue with my T-mobile Dash

I've currently got an issue with my Dash that is making it nearly unusable. On a regular basis the phone will turn off and then right back on and reconnect to the T-mobile network. The device doesn't turn off, just the phone as though I put it in flight mode. Also, the device does sometimes reboot in my pocket. I also get Call Failed errors and sometimes SIM errors when making calls and sending SMS. I had this issue once before a couple months ago and replaced the SIM which did not fix the issue, but installing the new WM6.1 corrected it until just a couple days ago. Tried reinstalling the OS again, but this time the issue persists.
Here's the odd part.... I'm sure it's just a coincindence, but both times this has happened now has been right after taking a flight. The device was powered off both times, but that is when the issue came up last time and again this time. Any advice or possible ways to correct the issue would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I believe the phone is out of warranty. If I'm not mistaken the phone only has 1 year and I purchased it back in December of 2006. Am I to assume this phone is just gone and needs replacing?
I am faced with the exact same issues & my phone is from Dec 2006 as well. I ordererd a new battery to see if anything changes but I am lost as to what to do next. I flashed my phone to Ricky's (Old was TMO) and even then the issue still persists.
That would definitely be a manufacture issue.

[Q] Galaxy S2 Wifi and Bluetooth problems.

Hi everyone!
I recently got a t-mobile galaxy s2. After having it for a week, I rooted it and tried different roms. The last rom that I installed on it was an alpha version of cyanogenmod 9. Everything was working perfectly for a few days and then I started having problems.
The problems are with my wifi and bluetooth, they wouldn't turn on. When wifi did turn on, the phone slowed down and then turned off after a few mins. Thinking this was a cause of rooting, I decided to go back to stock. I wiped everything, formatted the internal sd card, cleared all caches and completely restored everything to stock using odin and the problem won't go away.
Now I'm running stock touchwiz gingerbread rom and when I turn on wifi, it just says "error". I was only able to get it going once and thats when the phone got extremely slow and turned off.
Also it seems like everytime the phone turns off from wifi, the battery looses like 7-10% and it gets really hot.
Here are my questions,
Is this a hardware problem?
I don't have warranty because I bought it from another person. Can I send it out for a warranty repair somehow?
Thanks in advance.
I had the Wifi error also, had to send it in for repair. Make sure you Odin everything back to stock
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Thanks for replying.
Did your phone freeze and restart as well?
I called up samsung and they asked me to ship the phone..sent me a shipping label and etc. The problem is, I bought this phone from someone on craigslist. Will I need a receipt? So far it seems like they want me to ship just the phone.
Also I went back to stock completely with odin, do I need to do this as well?

edit: Forgot to add, how can I check if my phone is good to go for warranty repairs?
edit2: Ok I did some research and figured it out. Will update when I get the phone back
Same here...
Problem started with Bluetooth (dont remember which ROM) but I dont use wifi often so I dont know if it started at the same time. Then I switch from ROM to ROM for awhile... now my phone is kinda messed up.
I had the same problem as you, one of the phone which had a very bad battery life did not put the bluetooth to sleep and the phone got pretty hot. Something similar must have happenned to the wifi (same IC maybe?)
I think the IC is now messed up because I returned to stock, (recovery and all) did it 3 times, tried stock ICS stock GB. Then for no reason yesterday, Yay wifi working again, and bluetooth.. but by the end of the day, dead again !
So I get stuck with a wifi that can't turn on/off and a bluetooth that works when it want to...
I even tried messing with my /efs (everything was fine... I think...)
My Wifi & bluetooth MAC address are "unavailable" so I guess it's back to Samsung...
I saw some people complaining about this problem and saying Samsung products are not good... I must say that I owuld not have this problem if I stayed stock... like when I rooted my HTC desire and the "flashlight" turned on and burnt the LED... not HTC's fault... anyway anyone have another dea to try ?
---------- Post added at 03:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ----------
Also,
I read like hundreds differents forums about this issue... most if not all of them ended sending their phone to Sammy...
Some did not search very hard for a solution but still. Many have reported that Sammy changed the motherboard, so I guess it's not all our fault ?
Hi has anyone noticed issues with bluetooth headset keep getting disconnected every 2 mins after this ics update? i have Voyager pro HD which was working fine on GB and problem started after this update.

Yes but it could be all related to my othe rproblems, so...
Bluetooth lost Galaxy s2 ics
I am loosing every 2 min about bluetooth since my update to ICS
Has anyone ever fixed this problem? I have been having the same problem for about a year now and I can't seem to find a solution.
I had this start with my phone around December 2012. It only affected Bluetooth, so I didn't worry too much as I don't use Bluetooth. Then my Wi-Fi started copping out about a month ago. I did some research, and it looks like it's hardware related.
I have an extended warranty that I've paid into every month since I bought it (December 2011). I called the warranty company up, and because it was out of manufacturer's warranty, I had to drop $150 on a new phone. I also spent close to an hour trying to explain to them that I had done nothing wrong to the phone. Apparently, it is in the same category as it being stolen or broken. I was so choked. I've babied this phone like crazy, in fact, it still has the protective cover you find on it when you open it fresh out of the box (I just cut off the tab). I was livid.
Well, my amazing wife ended up calling Samsung directly. The call lasted 5 minutes and they didn't even question the integrity of the phone (other than what I did to fix it and the problem itself). The representative said that because we had never called them before, they would replace it for us, free of charge. I question that they might know there is a defect that happens as this isn't a one-off, but I'm very satisfied with their service. I'll be
If you can produce your original receipt, call Samsung. They should do the same thing for you as they're doing for me. Ironically enough, I'm reverting everything back to stock and backing everything up and happened to see your post.
Hope this helps and good luck.
So just a bit of a bump/update:
I sent my phone in to be repaired (honored by Samsung) and once I got it back, it worked for a while. Shortly thereafter, it started acting up again. I noticed on the sheet showing what they did for service, was apparently doing a re-flash of the original ROM and a factory reset.
Funny thing is, I used a branded TELUS ROM that wasn't exactly stock. If you pressed and held the power button, it would automatically restart... which I found fishy. I saw that this was the exact same ROM that I had put on there once I got it back, so I doubt any flashing took place. All that was done was that factory reset.
Now, to the credit of the factory reset, it worked for a brief while, but ended up with the same issue.
I'm in the midst of doing some diagnostics, but I'm not familiar with logcat. I'm back to the latest PAC build as no other ROM made a difference. I'm going to tinker for a few more days, but I'm pretty sure I'm back to square one.

p600 wifi turning off on of on off on....

Ok this started last night, tablet has been working flawlessly for the last 6 months or more.
What happened was, I wasn't able to use the Internet. Just wasn't working. And every 20 seconds or so it would flash up at the bottom of the screen "connected to (my router)".
So I turned wifi off and on, which usually fixed connection issues, but didn't help. I also restarted router, even though my computer and my phone isn't having any issues.
So then I went to the wifi settings screen to see if there was any way to reset networks. What I saw was this:
If i turn wifi toggle on and watch the screen, it would scan for networks, find the list... Couple seconds pass... Then the toggle would switch itself off and back on! And then it would start looking and finding networks again, and then off and on, and etc etc.
I have tried a factory reset and cache reset.
I have also downloaded the 4.4.2 stock rom and installed using odin for a totally new install.
Still does it.
Any suggestions? Seems very strange. It's under warranty but it seems like an odd hardware fault, seems more like software but I dunno.
Help me xda, you're my only hope.
I've been searching the Internet all day trying to find someone else havin this problem... But I seem to be the only one. And noone seems to have any suggestions.
At the moment I'm having to consider a warranty dispute, but that means however many days/weeks without the tablet which I use on a daily basis.
Not ideal Samsung.

Hey. I had the EXACT same problem. Even made a video of it and showed it to the service point personell. Turning on off on again and again, it also displays in the settings the switch just switches itself without any action of mine. It was a hardware defect. send it in and get a new one, better than being annoyed by it. Mine did it on a 5-10sec interval length...

Yeh mines probably every 5-10 seconds...
So this is definitly a hardware fault? In which case I'll have to get in touch with john lewis and hope they will do an exchange in store. If it involves having to send it off to samsung and waiting for it..
Anyway thanks for replying to the question, shame it wasn't better news haha!

yeah sorry to be the one to tell you this is a faulty device but it seems like this unit ain't free of errors and there quality control is somewhat sketchy.
Which android version are you running? I am asking because I run kitkat and also have relatively ****ty battery life. I use it for university so I have the screen on and write notes during lectures. Usually it lasted 7-8hours but for about a week or two it now only lasts 4-5 hours of screen time which is really ****ty.
I read somewhere that this might be a motherboard issue and if it is it might be somewhat corellated to our wifi problem. In my case they replaced the wifi module and gave me back my "old" device but this is having bad battery life so I am thinking about sending it in (again). I did however root so I would have to make use of the warranty provided by the seller, not samsung itself, since my knox is tripped.
(in Germany the sellers also must provide 6months - 2 years of warranty and there was a judgement in Europe that rooting must not have any influence on wether your device still is under warranty or not. sadly this only applies to the warranty provided by the seller, not the manufacturer)
Is your BT on and are you connected to a 2.4 GHZ network?
If so, turn off BT
I get random WiFi disconnects and reconnects from 2.4 GHZ networks when BT is on but not connected. Though, Ive never noticed the wifi switch going off and on.
I am running 4.4.2 or whatever, kitkat anyway.
Bluetooth is off, I never use it on my tablet. I dunno what network type I'm running, might be N or might be B/G, but whatever it is it what it has been for months as I havent changed any router settings lately.
I have restarted the router twice already in case this was a network problem, but the network wouldn't cause the wifi to toggle off and on, it would just cause disconnects etc. Least I assume so. I may try this just in case but like I said the network type hasn't changed lately
John Lewis are saying they won't exchange it, it will have to be sent off to Samsung for "repair". Meaning I'll probably get sent back a refurbished second hand one with a dodgy light bleed screen, as I expect they have hundreds of those lying around now.
Oh and it'll be up to 28 days. For a premium and expensive device that's less than 6 months old this just isn't good enough.

I had mine replaced as well but dont remember wether I got a new one or just my old one repaired... should have written down the IMEI I guess :-/
you're from Bristol, don't the EU rights apply there? If so your retailer should be obliged to replace or repair the device.

Anyways my replacement was done through Samsung and it took 6 days. But then again idk differences between UK and Germany...

Would You RMA?

I'm wondering what to do, should I sent it in for repair? I've had it about a month. Since day 1 I've noticed a few issues. First Bluetooth has been terrible and would disconnect from my car. Well would say connected but would start playing over phone speakers. Also when using GPS apps such as Google Maps the phone would restart. Also I keep getting GPS signal lost over and over in both Google Maps and Pokémon Go. I tried reinstalling different versions of of Oxygen and they help for a few hours but then the issues start up again. I've also tried CM 13 and the issue still persists. I have ordered a shipping label from One Plus. I know RMA is a nightmare but do you think I should do it? What will they do when they get the phone?
got sensors problem, no proximity, compass, camera started to lag. reflashed stock rom, still the same. ordered rma, today checked at Arvato, they replaced motherboard and sended back phone to me. it was repaired in Germany, tooked 4 work days till dispatch. If your phone isn't 15 days old from purchase, i recommend to get replacement instead of repair. Good luck
Unfortunately it's been more then 15 days. Thanks for the info though. I was wondering what the process was. I just don't know what else I could do to fix it other then send it in.
I also have issues from time to time with bluetooth. I'm currently on CM btw. If I connect my phone to my car, it shows connected and also the bluetooth volume is available but it does not play music at all.I have to reboot and everything is fine but I found also a workaround. If I start playing music before connecting it worked 100% of the time... Very strange... My GPS disconnects didn't went to zero with cm but it's a lot better. With OOS I had disconnects like every 15 min and with CM randomly every few days.
Do you have another device you are ok with using if your phone is off to RMA for a week or more?
Support is pretty good they'll fix it. Just have to have a spare should that be an issue.
You'll need to create a OnePlus account and register your device. Should be there if you bought from them directly. Then open a ticket. Turn around time was like 10-15 days depending on the issue. I've had a good experience.
Experience was alright. Their repair center is in Texas so should be alright.

Oneplus RMA fiasco

For a long time now I have been in love with my 1+3, but a few months back I noticed that I can barely hear anything in the handset earpiece. This wasn't such a huge problem for me because I mostly use my BT headset so I lived with it. I rely heavily on my phone in day to day work so I was reluctant to submit it to an RMA which would involve several days without a phone. Fast forward a few months and my phone started having random shutdowns and it would remain blocked like that unless I held the power button for extended times (20s+) several times, occasionally the screen backlight would flash. Couldn't even boot into fastboot with vol+power, basically every time I found my phone not responsive I would have to pray that it will turn back on. I tried all the software solutions I could, roll back to stock rom, stock kernel, update radio/modem but the problem still appeared. This was the point where I decided to contact oneplus customer support for an RMA.
It is a disaster, basically you can see why they can sell you cheap phones, well cheaper, they skim on support.
I tried to directly request an RMA and not go through the remote support since I already tried all the flashing they would guide me through but that wasn't an option so I had a remote session scheduled. On the day of the remote session after waiting half an hour without any reaction from them I was already nervous and decided to go on with my day, after another half an hour they contacted me telling me that they are ready. When I told them it wasn't the scheduled time already they came up with the defense that based on their system this is the right time, that did not comfort me at all but at least they agreed to the RMA. (All the scheduling was done in my local time zone, their idea, so it was probably them having no idea about time conversion)
So the phone went into their service, ARVATO, in Czech and spent a weekend and about a day there, there were to reported problems with the phone, one the earpiece, which I imagined is an easily diagnosed and fixed issue and the problem with the random shutdowns that happens occasionally and without me being able to actually find out why it happens. In the support ticket they kept assuring me that they will do a "full inspection" and fix all outstanding issues.
Imagine my surprise when I got a message from DHL that my package will be delivered the next day, I was really surprised as I have received no notifications from 1+ or arvato they just sent the phone back. So I get the phone in hand, nothing seems to be changed so I try to call one of my colleagues at work to test the earpiece...
Surprise surprise, it still doesn't work.
Now I had the phone for about 24h, I haven't met the shutdown issue, YET, but I can guess that they did nothing in the service to try and diagnose the problem if the "full inspection" missed the faulty earpiece.
Checking on the service protocol, what they did to the phone is: Legacy data deleted Functional test conducted Settings set Software update conducted Which pretty much sounds like software only...how nice, right?
When I asked 1+ what happened, why wasn't my phone fixed they gave me a generic response about how sorry they are and that I can send the phone back with another RMA -.-, how nice of them.
At this point I am not sure I wan't anything more to do with 1+, the phones are good but if you can't have a reliable solution for problems, it's pretty much not worth the money you save.
Did you have similar pleasant experiences with 1+ RMA?

Atleast be thankful that you got your phone back, that too in a better condition than when it was sent in.
There was one person here on XDA complaining about his phone being sent to a different country and for about a month atleast, OP was trying to trace the phone. No idea whether he got it back.
Literally sent my 1+3 back today due to earpiece being almost inaudibly quiet.
This doesn't bode well.
My RMA for replacement screen took 6 weeks.
They failed to update the RMA status and their support were incredibly slow.
I did, however, get a perfect working phone back with TGSP
I had to move on to a htc 10. The one plus 3 I bought was used but in absolutely amazing shape. But the ear speaker didn't work and when I tried to make calls I couldnt do it unless I had bt headphones. And when I hung up without bt headphones the phones would freeze and restart. Also the microphone wouldn't work to. I couldn't do a warranty return, so I took it apart and replaced what I could, didn't fix a thing. So I just bought the htc
I had RMA'd my OP3 for the faint earpiece issue. It took a week or two going back and forth for them to issue the RMA. After that, it took about about a week and half for a complete round trip. I was pleasantly surprise they sent to back with a screen protector on and a extra case. I believe it was sent to an Acer service center in Texas.
Support isnt actually bad in my opinion. There are brands such as Motorola / Lenovo who are unreachable regarding RMA and such. Then Samsung who charges €350 just for a screen replacement. I agree that something went wrong and such but this happends everywhere.
