Hi guys, last night i bricked my phone, so i needed to install ZUI 1.9 QPST, i want to back to android 10 custom ROMs, but now when a flash im getting
Code:
E1001: Failed to update system image.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
my procedures were: install ZUI 1.9 QPST > Unlock bootloader > Flash TWRP 3.3.1 > Flash ZUI3.5.337_FIRMWARE_BASEBAND > Try to flash Android 10 Custom
I tried starting with indian ZUI 2.5 too, but no lucky, when tryed to flash Pixel Experience, system image updates sucefully but fail to update vendor image.
Any idea how to avoid this ?
thanks
Edit: Well, somehow i fixed, installing ZUI 4 QPST > switch to treble twrp + f2v > back to normal twrp + v2f > flash RevangeOS (it was the only one that works) > flash any other ROM
Its something similar with the solution proposed by rajatsinghsp here

Hello,
it looks like that I'm unable to install a custom rom on my GX8 (see details out device at the end of the post).
FRP disabled, bootloader unlocked (this is at least what the fastboot/bootloader screen is saying)
I'm able to flash twrp-3.1.1-0-rio.img to recovery
I can use twrp on recovery and it seems to be fully functional
When I use twrp in 'read-only' mode, I'm able to reboot the system (stock firmware)
But when I use twrp in modifing mode, booting the system (stock firmware) is no longer possible (even if I only wipe cache and/or dalvik). Restarting the device will always end in twrp/recovery.
Backup is possible. Restore backup succeeds, but booting the system (stock firmware) is not possible. Restarting the device will always end in twrp/recovery.
Nevertheless trying to install a custom rom from zip in twrp. This leads to the following error message:
"E3004: This package is for device: RIO-L01, hwRIO-L01, RIO-L02, hwRIO-L02, RIO-L03, hwRIO-L03, RIO-AL00, hwRiO-AL00, RIO-CL00, hwRIO-CL00, RIO-TL00, hwRIO-TL00; this device is rio.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7"
Well, patch the custom rom in lines of http://www.lineageosdownloads.com/fix-error-7-lineage-os/, i.e. modifing the 'updater-script' in the zip. Now installing the custom rom zip in twrp is possible. Still unable to reboot system.
Installing gapps and/or chainfire supersu does not improve the situation.
Giving up back to stock rom in lines of https://forum.xda-developers.com/gx...tall-stock-rom-g8-t3370013/page2#post73008458 . This has (so far) worked for me to get back a working mobile phone.
Any suggestions, anyone?
Kind regards,
aanno

I've encountered the same exact problem when I flashed using twrp-3.1.1-0-rio.img. Had to force update to stock rom after it got stuck on bootloop.
Solved it when using the older TWRP 3.0.2-0 which you can get here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gx8/development/huawei-g8-gx8-t3324538
Hope it might help you too.
I used to be on resurrection remix 7.1.2, but I flashed stock ROM so I could do a clean flash with another ROM. I used Xiaomi unlock tool to unlock bootloader again, then flashed TWRP thru ADB in fastboot. After that I went into recovery, wipe data, cache etc and tried to flash dotos 3.0, but it gave me error 7. I repeated same process with zirconium android 9.0, same thing I'm using latest TWRP, y do I get error 7?? I definitely have the right model etc
Hey mate, have you tried using a vendor based custom recovery? . Is your Twrp vendor based? ( you'll be able to see cust/vendor partition in the advanced wipe menu).
I was messing around today with Dot0s 3.0 and regular Twrp too and found out that i couldn't install any pie roms on regular Twrp. I was previously using batik recovery. So you might be able to flash on it. Let me know if you try it.
Edit : I got the same error 7 on pretty much all oreo and pie roms.

Ah, thanks man. I've been only using regular TWRP, I'll use batik in a bit
Flash old firmware and then upgrade

Flashing Nougat firmware first and then custom recovery worked.
See https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-5a/how-to/rollback-downgrade-to-miui-nougat-t3938904
This is work for me.. just extract your cusrom and then go to Meta-Inf > google , edit the updater script. and delete line "get prop ......." all of that line.
so the first line must " ui_print ("Target: ........"); "
save
and select all files from your cusrom, create zip, copy to sd card, install via Recovery
Sorry for my bad English grammar,
I have stucked in TWRP for all this day, flashed many different roms and got the same message :
"E1001: Failed to update system/vendor image.
Updater process ended with ERROR:7
Error installing zip file '...' "
My base is 11.0.4 xiaomi.eu rom (MIUI 11, Android 10), start flashing 11.0.3 custom rom (MIUI 11, Android 9) and got that ERROR, then flashed Havoc/ASOiP rom, end up with flashing STOCK MIMAX3Global_V11.0.2.0.QEDMIXM on Mi offficial site via TWRP but still no luck, samething.
I have already tried lastest TWRP 3.3.1, 3.2.3, PitchBlack Recovery, and modified Updater-Script aswell (Delete 1st line).
Thank you for your help ! :crying:
Have you tried any of these tips?
Did you tried any android 10 ROMs?
I'm not sure if the downgrade from 10 to 9 is possible at all
I had wiped my system partition at one point and got this as well. Fixed by using the mi flash tool and the full system image (not a twrp / orange fox rom) and then wiped my data partition to get rid of the boot password. I don't know if anti rollback effects 10 to 9. Look into it though. You're looking for a fastboot rom. Just make sure to not "clean and lock". I'm having trouble finding the fastboot rom I found to fix it but it should come in a .tgz file. Good luck
Hi everyone, i rolledback from custom aosp rom to stock miui flashing via twrp, when i tried to update miui from 11.0.8.0 to 11.0.9.0 i showed me error on the stock recovery (that's when i find out that twrp was gone...) And when the phone booted up the update was no longer 409mb but 2.0Gb, my question is, if i download the 2gb update it will install with no problems or when it installs will encrypt my phone and i have to format data again or flash the firmware again vía miflash tool?. I don't have my pc right now so i dont want to mess up my phone.

download MIUI 12 beta .zip
Flash with twrp
Flash : Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020
this way you will not lose twrp and no need to format data
(backup your app+data with "titanium backup" or "OandBackupX" and restore them when the phone boots)
I'm trying update from 12.0.1 to 12.0.5 with TWRP recovery.
"Package expects build fingerprintof redmi/begonian this device has begonia" This error is coming.
I Removed the fist line which checks this from updater script. still this error is coming.
The Questions I have .
1) Is is possible to do OTA update without loosing apps/data?
2) Can i Use the image from this link Here ?
3) If i can't do the above should i flash the full rom from Here ?? Is it possible to do this without loosing apps/data?
4) Is there any other recovery that supports flashing the OTA rom?
1) OTA won't erase your data
2) You should install the correct OTA distribution for your phone. If you have begonia then flash begonia. So does for begoniain. Unless you are flashing fastboot ROM, it will count as switching region and are totally fine with UBL. How do I know which device am I? Refer to about section in settings
3) Dirty flash for MIUI in mi flash with same region distribution is fine. Even downgrade from A10 to A9 is completely fine (but some apps may show weird behaviour, for this case, factory reset is recommended). I've done it many times (stable global to stable global).
4) It sure can but I wouldn't recommend. It will lead to bootloop. I will recommend to flash stock recovery and do the update via miflash pro with full recovery rom. I also recommend to completely remove magisk prior update. Carrying over your magisk+magisk hide+magisk settings+it's module is fine, but I recently discovered incompatibilities that leads bootloop when switching off magisk hide that carried over from previous update on 12.0.7.0 global. You can re-install everything after update
