Hello forum
I’m having issues retrieving voice mail by pressing the relevant button 1.
Each time press 1 for voice mail I get a warning tone saying “Calls to this number are bard” the only way to retrieve voicemail is to dial 222 via the service provider’s options.
I’ve been in contact with my network provider and have had the voice mail set up but I still can’t access voice mail. Can some one help please?
Hi, I really dont know much about your network, but in order for dialing "1" to access my voicemail to work, I had to enter my voicemail number under 1 in speed dial.
Im not sure if you have already done that, or if youre running an oem rom, you may not have to, is it dialing the correct number, when you press "1"?
Also under "settings" / "phone" / "services" tab, you can select to retrieve voicemail, and txt settings....not sure of that may help either.
Sorry if you have already covered this, I just know its easy to overlook things at times, and thought I might suggest it, hope you get your problem sorted.
call to this number are bard.
Thanks for the advice; I’ve actually tried that method the first time I was in contact with service provider T-mobile and it didn’t work. T -mobile push the problem to HTC as the manufacture of the unit. I was in contact with HTC, but the very nice and helpful tech support lady concluded its t-mobile problem. Currently stuck in between.
I'm experiencing the same thing. You can run the programe called "Interactive". Select voice service then call voicemail. A message will ask you if you want to call voicemail, tap yes and it calls. It's an around the house way of doing it, but i know of no other solution right now.
BTW i have a vario III on t-mobile.
Ok i think i've worked it out I was having the same problem.
As from the previous post....when in phone select/ "Menu"/ "Options" in "settings" you'll see a "services" tab, select that then you can select to retrieve voicemail, and txt settings.
Check the voicemail number...I notice that the phone or t-mobile added 050 to the number. If you have something similar you need to remove it. You voicemail number should be you number with +44 at the start, with the first "0" removed and the rest of your number. Eg if your number was:
07951123456
its should read +447951123456
I did this and it works fine.If it works for you maybe you could pass the information onto on to T-mobile.
Hope that helps.

Where did you get the device?? What ROM is it running? pretty sure the 050 might have been added by the ROM or national on the OS. The network should report the full international number (ie the +44xxxxxxxxxxx number).
he is right

I bought it off Ebay. It's running wm6.1, i'm sure it said in the description that it was a HTC Rom, could be wrong ( HTC website is the default site in IE )...but the inital problem is easily sortable.
ps. +44 is the code for the uk, other countries would have different codes, so remember to take that into consideration.

A thanks guy the directions has resolved the issue and I can now dial number one on hemers to retrieve voice mail. As you quite rightly said three digits added in the set of numbers for the voice mail (060) This is what I did START =>SETTINGS=>PHONE=>SERVICES=> high light VOICE MAIL AND TEXT MESSAGE=> click GET SETTINGS=> check the voice mail numbers for any unusual among the set of voice mail numbers.
MMS, data, voice all work fine. I can receive SMS. SMS was working before. This problem occurred after I flashed a custom ROM and then restored the backup from CWM. My Nexus is on Straight Talk using stock rooted ROM.

Try changing the SMSC (SMS Centre) number.
You need to dial
*#*#4636#*#*
and select the first option.
Telekom (GER) offers a service to setup everything for you.
Had the same issue before.

How do I find/ what is my smsc number?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Getting the real SMSC for android is a bit tricky
1.) Find the SMS centre number of your carrier (e.g. for t-mobile DE -> +49 171 076 0000)
2.) go to http://twit88.com/home/utility/sms-pdu-encode-decode
3.) Enter the SMS centre number in the field "SMSC" and clear receiver and the message "How are you?"
4.) Click on "Convert"
5.) On the right side you'll see something like (in my example)
0791947101670000110000910000AA00
the first two digits show you the length. (7)
6.) 7x2+2 = 16 (+2 cause of the length needed[?]); Mark 16 digits from the start of the number. (here 0791947101670000) Thats your SMSC Number.
Go back to
*#*#4636#*#*
first option, scroll down to "SMSC" and enter your SMSC, click the button directly next to the input field.
Leave this screen and go back to it. Scroll down to the SMSC section and click the right button. (if everything is correct, you should now see the correct SMSC number instead of "00")
If you need further help, feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks a lot. That link is dead but I found a post with the number:
07913121139418F0 which worked for an ATnT customer and now it's working. I'm about to search for another udp encoder so I can use the proper straight talk smsc. Much appreciated!

NO KIDDING! I was having the same problem, and now it's fixed, thanks to you guys! ST is not very helpful over the phone, however I have found they have much better customer service over facebook.
I tried using the number in this thread and the att number and I still cannot send messages. When I refresh the smsc number after entering the att number, I get the same number with an extra 0 at the end. I know why it was wiped, I just cannot get it back. No matter which number I try, I still get a message not sent error

I hope you got this sorted. But it needs to be said your SMSC number is carrier specific. My carrier is Straight Talk specifically but I am using the At&t MVNO not the T-mobile. Since my service is through At&t's network, I'm using At&t's SMSC number. You will need to find or decipher your carriers SMSC.

I ended up getting it. My code was exactly the same but when I tried it, I did not capitalize the letter and it would not work. As soon as I did, it worked so all is well

Does anyone have straight talk working with google voice lite for Visual Voicemail use only not ported number to GV

how is that done?

Straight Talk offers T-Mobile and AT&T SIM cards. If you get an AT&T SIM, conditional call forwarding WILL work.
All T-Mobile prepaid SIMs, whether direct through T-Mo or through an MVNO like Straight Talk, do NOT allow conditional call forwarding.
I had T-Mo prepaid and mostly use Google Voice and it was weird. Rejected calls went to the T-Mo voicemail, calls to GV# that I just let ring went to GV voicemail, it was hard to figure out, and one of the main reasons I switched. I use both my regular cell # and GV # because of the MMS issues and occasional reliability issues. (GV texts don't work with minimal coverage, like no data minimal, etc.)

Just got it figured out. Uninstall the GV app. Re-install the app. During setup process make sure you actually go through the setup steps and change the voicemail provider to GV from carrier. then the code from google works perfectly. Hope this helps

Hey! Thanks for this. I didn't understand what the app was asking of me the first time I installed it. Your description got me over the hump as well.
The only issue I'm still having is that actively passing on a call (swipe left) isn't sending the call to voicemail. It just rings again until finally after the set number of rings, it forward to voicemail. My Galaxy Nexus worked fine with Google voice in this regard.

This worked for me as well (Nexus 4 / at&t sim on straightalk) Thanks!
Yeah, reinstalling GV is all that's needed on AT&T SIM cards. I also noticed with straight talk that I only paid for a month, and it was due to be disconnected around the holidays, but it stayed active until last week or so. Like the Hanukkah story or a Christmas miracle, but with much slower data than T-Mobile. And when I called to pay up today I found I have to wait to be mailed a new Sim card. Still, pretty awesome though.

ATT sim, Straight Talk. Deleted GV, restarted phone. Installed gv.
Select current gv (my gmail acc) "sign in"
you can now access your gv inbox blah blah blah.. "next"
"do not use google voice to make any calls" "next"
in order to configure your vmail we need .... "next"
we will not try to set up gv as the vm profider on your phone.... "configure"
pop up message "voicemail service" (dialogue box) my provider or google "select google"
Pop up "error" change to new provider? no, yes "yes"
pop up "error" forwarding number change failed "OK"
kicked back to "set up voicemail" screen OPTIONS skip, back, configure.
I have had this phone for 3 months and no luck, am I choosing the wrong options or missing something?

I had a similar problem recently. Two calls to customer service and 8 emails back and forth got me nowhere - everyone insisted that they don't offer call forwarding with their BYOP plans. While this is true, since they now only offer T-Mobile SIMs, it should still w work for anyone using an AT&T SIM. This morning I called and said I had an open email ticket and was told to call and ask for a manager. A few minutes later the problem was fixed - they had to turn call forwarding on.

I'm trying to get this to work on a Nexus 5 with tmo sim card. I'm pretty sure I'm out of luck here since I'm seeing the following on the google voice site.
"Note: This feature does not work with T-Mobile prepaid phone plans."
Don't know why t-mobile is screwing people like this, but... I guess I'm going to get an att sim.

That didn't work for me. When I reinstalled Google Voice it got an error and failed.
I don't know where to post this but whenever I install a rom on my phone and download the "Chase" app it keeps reading my old telephone number. I changed it on the website and still showing my old number. Like when I'm trying to get an identification number, either to text it to me or call me it still shows up as my old number.
Is there something in the app that I can change?

Can we not use Google Voice for voicemail? I try to update the voicemail number but it's grayed out.
Do it from the Google voice website.. Use a different device.. Then go to settings devices and add a device.. Follow instructions.. Worked for me perfect.
Did it, said it was successful, phone still says carrier is still my VM client not GV, not good at all LG/T-Mobile, in fact its straight up bull****.

The VM client will say carrier but the call is correctly forwarded to GV. Check your call forwarding settings.
The problem with that is the extended rings, what caller waits through 8 to 10 rings to leave a VM, they just get annoyed and hang up, which is why the carriers block it.
Mine still says carrier.. Google voice is working.. I had someone call and test it.. Didn't seem like it was ringing any longer than normal.
I just tested, 9 rings with the 5th stating call was forwarded. Believe what ya want, its an issue, who waits through 9 rings?
Just tested mine again.. Didn't decline call to get it to voice-mail.. Rang 6 times and no forwarding message..

Maybe deactivate your phone on Google voice. Com and reactivate it?
I just did the***004 number# thing and it worked like normal.
