Does your phone start normally if you put it into fastboot boot mode then select boot normally?
If so follow this

If not make sure you are flashing the rom correctly
To reformat data type
fastboot erase userdata
I don't have this device so I don't know what they are originally formatted as but there shouldn't be any reason why you would want to change them
it really work!!
Thank´s it really work!! you are awesome!! :good :victory:

when changing from stock HBOOT to cm7/R2 I know the partitions are resized but are they formatted to? If not is there a better format to use, i.e at moment my partitons are yaffs2 would it be a good idea to format as ext4 before installing a new rom? I intend to install Runnymede AIO V4.0.3 Special Edition.
Thanks

It is not formatted.
Code:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
partition your sd-card to FAT32 & EXT3/4 with Gparted. nGB FAT32 & 1GBEXT4 is fine. Make sure both are set as "primary"
No problem with sd card formatting (have read 100's of posts about sd card) but i meant the system, data and cache or does the rom sort these out when installing?

Some ROM's do.. but I still wipe everything before flashing. Good practise.
well after a few hiccups got cm7 R2 flashed and seb15 AIO has another new rom so flashed that to now system is yaffs, data is ext4 and cache yaffs so still not sure what sorted what but all is running well. Would it have been the rom flash or hboot flash that changed data to ext4? I like to try and understand what i'm changing in case there are problems to try and fix just a shame I'm to impatient and end up changeing more than 1 thing at a time!!
Thanks for input bortak
hi all,
i know how to format IN YOUR ROM to ext4 but i am building a ROM and i used the Stock Rom that is in Rfs FS , how do i format to ext4 ? i use PX-Kernel 3
thank you
EDIT: btw is it normal that when i exract the boot.img i dont get a Ramdisk ?
And again , no answer...
I suggest you tar the contents of the RFS /system partition, reboot into recovery, format /system to ext4 and extract the contents of your tarball.
M using twrp 2.8.7.0
Phone stuck on cache formatting nd cant update rom same issue plz give solution.
if the phone can boot normally, give it time to format, my friend's redmi 1s take long time while formatting ext4 either /cache or /system partition, but it format really fast in f2fs idk why

just try different file system eg, f2fs just to make sure /cache partition is ok, if it success formatting /cache partition then u can format ext4 back this time let it finish formatting, just in case ur phone overheating while in recovery, take the back cover off to reduce heat
M noob so its complicated for me .
How can I do that .. Tell me simple technique
enter recovery, wipe --> advanced wipe --> check cache --> repair or change file system --> change file system --> choose other than ext
just to let you know, i tried to wipe /cache partition on my friend's phone and it take 6 minutes to finish, maybe it take more in /system partition but i didnt try it
Hey guys
So i was trying to flash the new RR remix 7..
I formatted everything and now my TWRP shows 0 MB and i am unable to mount or flash ANYTHING except firmwares and recoveries.
I have NO clue what's going on
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
I was using 7.x the other day and tried to revert back to 6.x. Unfortunately, I couldn't because the data partition was set as f2fs. I tried changing it back to ext4 through twrp and it wouldn't work. It kept saying something about the data partition is busy or in use.
I fixed this by booting into fastboot and reformatting the data partition from there using the command: fastboot format:ext4 data (or maybe it was userdata?) I forgot lol.
Also, which partition did you reformat? I think it's only cache and data that is to be changed to f2fs for that ROM.
I formated the userdata partiton to ext4 phone dont booted up anymore HELP HOW IM FORMAT TO EXT2 OR FSF3PLS
Can reread your post? EXT4 is the default filesystem. If it doesn't boot, there might be another problem. Can you add more details?
i flashed the miui and its booting up im waiting if it dosent work i type ok?
BOOTED UP CLOSED POST
