Good night, today I bought my dad a Redmi Note 8. I set it up for him and installed him WhatsApp, after that I updated the apps on Play Store and the Xiaomi apps as well, finally I proceeded install software update (MIUI 11), everything fine, apparently. Maybe an hour later my dad asks me if I installed Instagram, so I went to install it and the app didn't show in any of the screens, I checked on P Play Store and it was installed because if show me the button 'Open' instead of 'Install', I rebooted the phone yet the Instagram app was nowhere to be found lol it was pretty rare. I uninstalled the app, clear Play Store caché, redownload the app ... still nothing. So I searched on the web and I found an old thread for a RN4 having the same issue and someone suggest to install another launcher, so I installed POCO Launcher and there there is the app in the application drawer.
My dad however does not like this launcher and wants the original launcher (not that he knows, he just says it looks different, previous to this RN8 he had a Huawei Lite 9? Idk, both launcher are the same so I can guess why he doesn't like POCO). So I tried back MIUI Launcher and the app is still not showing, so I don't know what else to do lol, I told him to use the phone like that while I do some research and find a solution.
I think it is pretty rare because when I installed WhatsApp there it was, no need for other launcher, why is Instagram not showing? Not only Instagram, I tried installing Twitter and it is also not showing, however they are showing on POCO Launcher.
Any idea?

MIUI stock launcher keeps all apps on the home screen. Swipe left and right to see all apps.
If they still do not show, open app info of System Launcher and clear all data.

Sometimes two or more apps can be grouped into a folder in one of the homescreens.

I rooted and flashed CM7 on my HTC Desire a few weeks ago, and I've noticed something a while after doing so. I can never get my Android Market app to show my downloaded apps properly. At times, it just reverts to a blank slate. My concerns are that I cannot see update notifications properly, as there my apps are missing my market app list.
A secondary concern is that when I buy an app, I'll have problems re-downloading them, and might be forced to pay for it again.
If you need more information, please tell me.
OMG, I am also facing such problem!!
Cannot see installed apps like I updated flash player using market but later it just dissapear under my apps, skyfire missing, file expert missing!
Quite a number of downloaded free apps from market are missing under my apps!!
Currently using market version 2.3.4 from supernova rom 1.0.2.6?
Any help would be appreciated!
I did a bit more research, and this may shed some light.

Hi guys,
Weird thing happened today, I was checking the Play store app for updates, there were about 10 of them.
I didn't update anything at the time.
About 10-20 minutes later I check again and I only see 3 updates available... when I search for those missing updates on the play store, the apps don't even come up. When I look on the play store on the PC, I see that all those apps (which are all already installed, from the play store) as being incompatible with my device... both free and paid apps.
I rebooted, cleared cache/davlik, but still the same..
do you know what went wrong, and what I can do?
Perhaps they're not compatible with 4.2.1 yet?

nah that's not it, I mean I was seeing an update for Beautiful widgets, which I have been using since 4.2 and when I check now there is no update, I can't find the app on the play store, and on PC it says it's incompatible... and eventhough it's installed on my phone, it doesn't show in the list of installed apps in the play store app. Yet I can still access the widgets and add more to my screen...

I am on Paranoid Android, I was on 720px / 220 dpi (for a very long time, and never had problems), the first thing I did was reset everything back to default. Still no go
BW is running fine on my GNex, running a custom build of MoDaCo's MCR - all stock values, of course!
well in the end there was an update to my ROM so just dirty flashed along with gapps and it seems back to normal.. weird what happened, but oh well.
Thanks for the help guys
hi. when i download whatsapp from google play store or through website its wont show up after installing ...any help ?
from amazon store whastapp version is outdated.so its also not work
I'm stuck on this too. It said the whatsapp version is outdated and the app is disabled. The amazon appstore does not have an updated version either,
Same.... Stupid fire phone, I'm debating what phone I want to jump ship for.
But I did find that if you install the APK from the google play store, it prompts if you want to run the app after installing it. When you run it, it shows up in your recent apps on the horizontal bar of previously opened apps. You can lock it in place there, but it won't show up in your app drawer. Go figure though, did we really expect support for a dead phone?
I just installed from play store and it shows up OK. I'm using a third party launcher though. Are you all on stock - if so, why? Or on a different Rom?

I think the problem all of you are having is that you have a copy of WhatsApp in your Amazon cloud. If you delete the app from your Amazon cloud apps and re-install WhatsApp from Google Play, the app's icon should also be installed.

thankx bro its working now
Odd one.
The other day, Facebook did one of it's routine updates and now no longer works.
All i get is the blue facebook screen with the F logo flashing - that's all it does!
I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling - i even updated the phone to 4.6.6 to see if that helped. Now it won't install from the Playstore at all.
Has anyone else had problems with this app - everything else is working fine!
People reported problems with the latest update(s). They all started using older versions as a workaround

Older versions of Facebook can be found on APK Mirror.
Here is a link to the most recent non alpha or beta version I could find that should work on the Fire Phone: Facebook 55.0.0.18.66 (Android 4.0.3+)

To reinstall the latest Amazon version of FB, I found that, in the Amazon app store, you need to 1st search for the FB messenger app, click on it, then scroll to the bottom where it says "More apps by this developer" and Facebook will be under that, just click and install from there, videos work too. Facebook version 45.0.0.38.146.
If you click on the facebook app under other apps by developer it states currently unavailable

it happened to me.. you can download facebook apk older version, but it auto updates..better to install from amazon appstore. I have another problem after all this. Suddenly, my google play store downloads are stuck at 80% etc and wont install or update apps..also play services stopped working..tried uninstalling and reinstalling google apps. did not work. I had to factory reset the phone. Play store worked fine for couple of days and now shows with same problem again. Anybody has this problem?
Yes me too have the same oeoblem
It seems like the newest (feb 19th) is working again (still no video). Just install it and tell that app dont autoupdate. ( it does take about 30 seconds to open the first time)

Facebook and Messenger is back on Amazon app store. They are older versions but works.
Facebook version 32.0.0.23.15
Messenger version 26.0.0.20.13
As mentioned earlier, install them from Amazon app store and disable auto update of them from play store.
So to get rid of the whole square bubbles problem I have installed a previous messenger apk that has bubbles.
But even though I have automatic updates on play store turned off, after a couple of hours I check and the messenger in already updated through play store to the latest version. Anyone knows what could be wrong?
Is there any other option I have to turn off so that the app doesnt auto update? Thanks in advance.
Anyone?
YOU TURNED OFF THE UPDATES FROM THE APP'S PLAYSTORE PAGE AS WELL, RIGHT ?

nothing I can think of now but have you tried getting system updates or moving to Xiaomi EU custom rom? cuz fixing that problem by just sticking to an old app ver isn't really the ultimate solution
Well, you could still uninstall updates "I have never had a MIUI, so not sure about" that

Flashing a custom rom to solve that is an option I have no time to bother to do so. It could create more trouble for me than just an app auto updating without me wanting to.
Android 12 introduced a native API for chat bubbles, and now all apps can make use of this API - SMS apps, internet messaging apps, and Messenger chose to switch from their own bubbles implementation to Android 12's native one as well.
A user on reddit made a modified Messenger apk, which makes Messenger believe it is installed on an earlier Android version, without native chat bubbles. This makes Messenger use its own bubbles implementation. This obviously cannot be updated through the Play Store, so it won't suddenly revert to the official APK.
