Current firmware version not found on firmware.science - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I have an SM-N950U Note 8, with current software version N950USQU3BRA9 and Android version 7.1.1 and CSC: N950UOYN3BRA9.
The phone is unlocked. It was on the Sprint network, but I live in the Caribbean.
Ideally I would like to update this to Android version 9 and from looking at other threads I went to firmware.science, but unfortunately, they only have an update going from N950USQU3BRA8, so that didn't work.
Any assistance you can give would be appreciated, thanks.

You need to manually download the firmware you want to flash from android file host and also download Odin and MANUALLY flash the firmware yourself. No other way.

Thanks, that's what I figured and I have ODIN downloaded, but trying to find a reliable source for the firmware, which seems to be around 4GB. Also hopefully I can go from Android version 7 to 9 without having to step through version 8.

You can go from 7 to 9 just download the latest firmware version and flash in Odin and you'll be good to go. Check this out.. https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261652941

ODIN says successful, but there was no change... It seemed to be going well with the MD5 checks, then phone rebooted soon after and I'm still on version 7.1.1 although it has a green highlighted Pass top left

I just had to do the same thing, my firmware won't allow updating before. After flashing to an updated Verizon firmware it works just fine.

[Q] How long does updating bootloader take?

I'm updating to the newest bootloader and I've been waiting on Odin to finish for the last 5 minutes. Does it really take that long? What should I do? Here are the messages from odin:

I took a risk and unplugged it. The phone boots to cyanogenmod like nothing happened fortunately. I tried to update again and it's still not working. Any ideas?
It really shouldn't take more than 10min.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I switched to a different usb cable and a different usb port and it worked. Unfortunately I don't know if it was the cable or the phone since I switched both.

[Q] Downgrade 5.1.1

Hi, I upgraded my Samsung Note II to the version 5.1.1 with the cyanogenmod rom, but now I would like to downgrade it to the kit kat version 4.1.2 or 4.4.2.
The problem is when I flash it with Odin, the message I get is FAIL. I think it is because of KNOX and because I am not root.
Is it even possible to go back to the previous version? Could somebody help me? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I believe the eMMC chip has failed. The same happened to my phone and the service guy said i needed a new motherboard.
Some say it may also be a corrupted bootloader, which i have had no luck in fixing.
Wish i could help
It's ok thanks for informing me at least
Love to hear if you get it up and running again
I would love that too but don't have any solutions at the moment

I tried to remove the root because I did not know what I was doing with it but now looks like I need to learn more about it. Anything can help I just want to get on my phone.

I think that would be the one to fix it, downloading it now.
Thank you much, sir.

What kind of brick is this?

I've unbricked phones before and even messed with dead EFS partitions and lived to tell the tale, but I cannot for the life of me figure this one out.
Somebody gave me a S4 Mini (GT-I9190) that was bootlooping. I got it into download mode and ODIN flashed a firmware without any problems. When it reboots, it says "Recovery Booting" for a few seconds, then turns off and bootloops again. Download mode continues to work, have flashed many other firmwares, but always the same thing. It just will not boot into recovery.
Tried CWM, TWRP and Philz (all found from various threads on this forum) and all of them seem to flash properly on Odin, but recovery will just not work. I even got a PIT file and repartitioned, to no avail. NAND Erase All with PIT and firmware too makes no difference.
I cannot try the debrick.img advice because the phone is not hardbricked. As far as I can tell, the issue is that the recovery partition is completely borked. But trying to search for ways to restore the recovery partition keeps taking me to the same old threads about how to access recovery mode using buttons and nothing about how to rebuild it!
Any thoughts? Any suggestions on where I should look too are appreciated.
Oh and yeah. to complicate matters a little, I have no idea what firmware version was on it before it died. Samsung Kies tries to initialize with a XSG firmware, so thats the one I downloaded from sammobile. And nope, firmware initialization thru kies also makes no difference at all.
Did you try stock recovery?
As far as I know, it was stock recovery when I got it. Wouldn't boot, so tried the rest. Flashing stock firmware did not make any difference, so don't think stock recovery works either. Have not tried extracting stock recovery from the odin tar and flashing directly though.
