I have over 2 hours of background data. Notifications arent on. I dont know why it keeps running. Any ideas?
It sends back analytics, and many info about your device and activities, I disabled it, among a bunch of apps doing the same
There's a lot of stuff that's going on there. Your Google account sync will happen and it'll sync your history, bookmarks etc in both directions, as you browse on your desktop all that data will sync back on the phone as well. So if you choose to disable the background stuff they'll be a delay in which b your app will get data back and certain features will be broken.

Meh!!!
My data syncs have been hanging lately and totally draining my battery unless I go in and cancel it. Sometimes it's Facebook for HTC, sometimes it's Twitter, sometimes it's Calendar. I can replicate the issue by going into my contacts, selecting a user and trying to update their events and updates (in which case it's fb for htc that hangs)...
If I then go into Accounts & sync in my settings, I can see the sync icon not spinning or doing anything and the option to sync now is available, but if I back out, cancel sync is available instead of sync all as if it does know something is syncing or attempting to...
I like the integration to fb, twitter, etc. in my contacts, but it sucks to suddenly be hanging up and draining my battery.
Any help will get 5 starts and a big thank you

Title says it, its really annoying to flash a new rom and to have my apps follow me.
Any ways to prevent them from showing up
When you set up the account uncheck the sync my phone to this account box. Your contacts, calendar, etc will still sync but your apps won't. In CM7 pacman.apk used to be the app that handled that function (early nightlies). Don't know if it still does, but I always removed it to avoid that annoyance.
Hi,
I just got a tablet next to my Gnex, and i am trying to find the best way to avoid double notifications when at home, on both the phone and the tablet.
I have realised (and pls tell me if it's not true) that even if I disable sync, this applies only to google services (calendar, gmail, ecc.) and not to whatsapp and facebook.
I could disable the whole data connection (and wifi) but then I won't be able to receive whatsapp messages (I found out I can't have the same number configured on both tablet and phone, so I kept whatsapp on phone only).
So in practice, when at home, I would like to have the tablet fully in sync with google services and receiving facebook and twitter push notifications, and the phone receiving only whatsapp messages: the only way i found so far is to disable google sync and then go into twitter and facebook settings and disble push from there.
Do you know of any other way?
Well, I don't have a tablet so I'm kinda useless on real solutions, but you could use Tasker to automate the process you're doing now by making a profile that activates when your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi.

yeah, the tablet part is not actually important and only half of the story.
What i really need is a program that allows me to record a sort of macros, so that with the press of a button I can: [1] disable google sync [2] open facebook and disable push notifications [3] same for twitter
The real problem here is to find a tasker-like app that allows me to automate apps
So....
my Note 2 stopped automatic sync. This is not restricted to any specific account (gmail, calendar, 3rd party apps) but it happens across the board. I checked all possible syncing settings, in general and for each app to make sure that automated syncing is enabled. Still, the only time device syncs is when I restart it/turn it on or when I manually sync it, by turning off and then turning on sync button on Notification Panel.
I have several google accounts on my device and I really don't want to remove all the accounts and set them up again if I don't have to.
Anyone experienced anything like this and has word of advice?
Im running nameless rom and have no issues with sync.
So at first I thought it was restricted to my photos but then I realized that the phone isn't syncing across all apps unless I open the app itself (while on wifi). So for example, I have the phone set to backup my snaps only on wifi, it won't actually do the backup when I do connect to wifi unless I open up the photos app.
The same applies to google keep, contacts, firefox sync... etc... Any idea why this is happening and how to make it more automated (like seriously? I have to go into each app I want to back up for it to actually sync??)
Phone rarely goes into battery saving mode. I also went in Accounts to make sure all the apps are switched to syn and they are (firefox, which hadn't synced for days, synced just as I checked that setting- a clear example of what's is wrong).
On the other hand, google photos doesn't even show up in the sync settings of my main gmail account but does in my secondary. I wonder if that's why this is happening...
BND-L21 running EMUI 8
On settings -> accounts ->google in menu option having " Sync Data is on" just check it.
