This is how Samsung should be pushing updates, at least for monthly security patches.
But it is how they push updates.

I think he's referring to the speed that the security update was pushed to devices. Samsung doesn't have a history of providing timely security updates (especially to their Snapdragon devices) although they have improved since late summer. Prior to that the unlocked S10+ was on the May security patch until early August. Carrier device updates work differently but In Android 10 it's possible Google will be able to push monthly security updates directly rather than waiting for Samsung or carriers. The option seems to be built into the Android 10 beta which has a Google update option separate from the main one for updates to the full software build.

They just released the December 1, 2019 security update for U1 unlocked, BSKA. I don't think I've seen one released so quickly.

So the December update is out, great. I am on AT&T so they will probably push something like BSIX since they like to make up their own firmware letter numbers.

;So ... at the behest of some of the "security experts" I downloaded the Bluebox Heartbleed Scanner from the Play Store and got the following interesting results.
I'm running a TW ROM based on Samsung's Android 4.3 release. I was under the impression that only Android 4.1 was affected. So should we be worried?

I emailed the developers of the scanner app and here is their response concerning our GS3 on Android 4.3:
--
The version of OpenSSL is within the affected range but the heartbeats feature has been disabled, leaving you safe. *It turned out the version number isn't enough to confirm vulnerability.
We are working on a scanner update that will test whether the OpenSSL library has the heartbeat feature enabled/disabled rather than relying on the version number alone. That should fix the confusion you are seeing. *Stay tuned.
Thanks for the feedback!

It would have said "this version ... is vulnerable, but heartbeats are disabled so you're safe" if things were OK.
It says so on my phone.
Maybe you should giveit another try with the curren version, I have 1.2.1 from playstore.
I just went back to android from iOs and I'm suuuuper lost with all of this
I just saw this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/official-android-7-1-1-download-how-to-t3616352
but I have the FEB 1 security patch, and my device is xt1635 (ATT MX)
I can't understand anything about software channel or anything, I'm super lost...
What should I do to upgrade to 7.1.1 ? I'm uploading here two screenshots and if someone can help me, it would be great.

Don't worry, typically Google will but out a monthly security update for nexus and pixel devices(Google product) OEM on occasion put out an ota that includes the security update.
For the average user the security updates really aren't necessary.
I have never had any kind of malware on Android.

Don't update, link mentioned above clearly indicates that you need an april patch first.. wait for official update.. or flash and live with your soft bricked device
As of now Fido has the SMR set for June 26.
I'm pretty satisfied with their update schedule so far.
That's 3 weeks after Google's own products got it.
Just glad I didn't get the G7 thinq!
Anyway, the rest of the links for update schedules are in another thread I posted previously.
Happy Friday.

Great news.
Did u notice any changes in performance or any other changes?
I did notice my phone working a little bit smoother, animations especially. Also, the battery seems to be doing great too, but I need more time to tell. I'll keep you informed.
Update
Today, a new update took place with a security date of November 1. So far no signs of major changes in device behavior.
Czech Republic SM-A505FN
Also available for SIO Slovenia.
The recent apps animation seems smoother and more instant.
In Italy arrives too. I notice, for the first time, a real improvement of the fingerprint recognition. Now is fast and accurate. So far.....
in the last update it works just for 1 day, now it seems to stay working well.
what new features included in this update
So fast ! weird, google has just published the security bulletin today.
So, some european countries seems to receive update before India now , may be i will go back to an european firmware then
Same Update arrived today here in Germany! Didn't noticed any changes since then..
Today, I got a update notice with "update size 1.40 GB" on my rooted Pixel 3XL
I thought that would be the Android 11 update everyone else are receiving.
But no! It shows "Introducing Android 10"! (screenshot #1)
However, I already had Android 10 installed since Sep 5, 2019 (screenshot #2).
May I ask:
1. If I click the "Download and install", will it install the Android 10 again to my system? Do I need to root again? Is there any good reason to click and let it install?
2. How to disable such "system update" notice, if it makes no sense to install it.
3. The 2nd screenshot shows the security patch level was still on Sep 5, 2019 and never updated. Is this because the system is rooted so that no auto-update is pushed? Is this a big security concern?
Thank you!

I still have the problem.
Each time the update reminder popup, I just ignore it. Not sure what's the best I can do to it.
