LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Flash the latest build of Lineage OS
Reboot to bootloader and fastboot TWRP again
(Optional) Flash gapps of choice (OpenGapps micro or smaller are recommended)
Reboot to system and don't install the TWRP app
(Optional) Flash custom kernel / TWRP / Magisk
A more detailed installation guide can be found here.
Updates
Simply update from the Lineage Updater in Settings and reboot or repeat steps 4 - 10. You shouldn't need to flash factory images as all partitions (firmware, vendor etc.) are updated with the lineage zip. Gapps MUST be reflashed if taking an update via Lineage recovery or TWRP. Thank you for keeping our pixel alive when the next update to fix all these errors greeting I would like to make a donation for this project.
I'll definitely be watching this project. While I wont install it for now due to the few bugs it does have, I'm sure all of you have done a great job so far.
Thank you for all the ports you make!
Can't wait to try 17! Thank you very much for supporting our phones.
Will be watching development keenly and will jump in once it's more stable. Cheers for doing this bud. ?
i tried the permissive version, couldn't ever get it to boot up.... wonder if it's the version of TWRP i was using (3.3.0.0) i might have to try an older version... i did see some permission errors during the install... (should have taken a picture) i'm prob. headed back to your lineage 16 build for now... thanks for this though... really looking forward to it. thanks
just a side note about TWRP - really wish they would disable the screen timeout option by default.....
i'm flashing lineage 16.... screen goes black.... can't get it back on at all.... had to force reboot and start over....
that's happened on a LOT of other phones too (i've been using cyanogenmod a LONG time).... aggrivating default feature (just a suggestion to maybe put in any future instructions to go into TWRP settings and disable that crap) / rant over lol sorry

That and the TWRP app installer. That'll mess things up in a hurry if you swipe it.
This Rom is legit.
Running wahoo kernel
Magisk mod FDE.AI
Thank you devs.
Can't wait for update.

Small question regarding the GPS, on LOS 16.0 i have to set enforcing to off to get continual tracking to work, will this be addressed in this ROM?
goddammit twrp and the friggin screen timeout.... you have to start all over .... dumbest ****in option ever.... please start adding a reminder in your guides to DISABLE SCREEN TIMEOUT - because it destroys lives.... uuuuughhh

Can you post builds without GApps please? Literally the only reason I use Lineage OS is because I can choose to have a Google-free experience, and your ROM doesn't give me that option. Kinda goes against Lineage's philosophy, no? People can flash GApps packages if they like, but it's impossible to remove GApps from a package. Thanks!

Have you ever tried flashing gapps on an a/b partition phone?
I think having both posted would make more sense, though that's a lot of work for maybe one or two outliers.

Have you ever tried to remove GApps from a ROM that contains them?
I disagree with you on the front that having a separate build without GApps is more work because when Lineage is built from source, it's built without GApps. Technically, adding GApps to the finished ROM manually is more work; not to mention that adding GApps to the ROM makes updates much larger to download and install.
I get that including Google apps makes it one step easier for a lot of users, but it also takes away choice for a lot of security-centric users, and those that may not want all of the Google apps pre-installed on this ROM.
And isn't the whole point of Android and LineageOS choice?

Apologies if I came off as combative, I was just making a suggestion to the developer of this ROM that I think more than a "drop in a bucket of water" of people would also appreciate. Thank you for your suggestions though, and have a nice day!

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Can this ROM be flashed through TWRP?
A. Yes, proceed with the latest TWRP image
Q. Sounds good. How can I contribute to project?
A. Test the build as much as you can and report bugs which can be reproduced with exact steps and are not random.
Q. How to disable "Apps running in background" dialog?
A. When you see the dialog, long press on it and select "Settings". From there, you'll have a toggle to disable it.
Q. Which Models are supported?
A. So far it works well on the H930(G/D/DS), US998, VS996 and LS998. H932 works too, use the .zip for that model. Other devices may bootloop.
Q. Help, my H931/H933 is bootlooping!
A1. For H931 please go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/running-h930-aosp-rom-us998-converted-t3889320
A2. For H933 please go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78183349&postcount=2
Q. USB Tethering isnt working!!!!
A. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed.
Try this: open device manager:
find the RNDIS (thats what it was called for me), or some other device similar to that name, with a probably yellow !
right click: uninstall drivers (and tick delete drivers)
restart usb tethering
then you have an "unknown device", right click
install driver
search on pc
select from list
search for LG Electronics as manufacturer
and then on right side select "LGE AndroidNet Remote NDIS Device"
My God, that was fast. It even looks to be usable daily, so long as you don't need an SD card (and keep the phone on).
Goodbye Axon 7; V30, here I come!

(And I hope some more people/devs become interested in this device now.... fixing/trying to fix stuff nearly alone after rashed did the first device bringup.... And im no pro myself either, idk what causes the boot issues )
For exfat why don't try Samsung open source module https://github.com/bkuhn/exfat
Work on LG V20 D.O.T.S custom kernel, realy nice.

Thanks, will try that one. Already had it working once, then took it out again to just check if it was causing issues or not, and then imported it again, and suddenly its causing a weird behaviour
Setupwizard takes ages to load, its checking the sdcard forever, Launcher takes ages to load too, and after a few minutes the system crashes... Same happens with the sdfat driver lol
On stock and TWRP it works fine though (TWRP uses the same driver as i tried btw...).
Nice ! Good job as always
I will flash it next week as i still need my V30 urgently working for now... but anyways thanks in advance
Camera
Literally the 1 thing stopping me from installing this right now is the camera. Gcamera is great but doesn't support 4k video on this device nor does it support laser focus or duel lenses (although the ported version of gcamera have a separate app for each camera). Please can you port the LG Camera over. Also does the QuadDAC work on this?
You made my Monday great ?
Thank you

Yep, not shipped with gapps. From my last stand of knowledge (like years ago lol) its not even allowed to ship gapps with ROMs.
Hi, is fm radio working with this rom?
Hi Markus, Danke for your great work and astonishing results here!
Regarding the camera: I remember some guys where extracting the official LG Cam from the Korean Oreo update a few weeks ago...
Is there any chance we could get the LG camera working on LineageOS ?

tbh, i think i havent tested this yet. I focused more on finding out what the **** causes the bootissues.... (trying to figure that out since easter...)

Ehhm... Depends on how much the LG Cam depends of the LG Framework? But i suppose thats a lot, would be really really difficult (involving lots of reverse engineering then probably) and would take ages. Doubt LG wants to make our lives easy lol
So... Just got a report from my tester.
10 consecutive (re)boots without a problem. Will release a version soon with this fixed
Had to disable sdcardfs (ro.sys.sdcardfs=0). Maybe i can find a commit somewhere that fixes whatever LG ****ed up there (I suppose their stock framework/kernel source has a modified version, that doesnt work well with AOSP based ROMs...)
Edit: uploading non-treble build now
Thanks to @phhusson for leading me to the fix

Treble support reserved
As part of Android 8.0 Oreo, Google released a major rearchitecting of the Android OS called Project Treble. The change aimed to help make OS updates easier, faster and less costly for device manufacturers. On top of that, Project Treble also made it possible to boot a generic, AOSP-based system image without modifying the boot or vendor image. Manufacturers seeking Google certification are required to test their devices for Treble compliance by booting this Generic System Image (GSI) and verify basic hardware functionality. However, they’re not required to make sure that everything works on the GSI. This resulted in GSIs being fairly functional on some devices and completely broken on others. To overcome this issue, developers released custom GSIs that are designed to work on as many devices as possible and with few bugs. Late last month, XDA Recognized Developer phhusson released an Android 10 based GSI that can be installed on any device that supports Project Treble. And now, XDA Recognized Contributor AndyYan has released an unofficial LineageOS 17 GSI.
The unofficial LineageOS 17 GSI offers a more customized and user-friendly version of the Android 10 GSI released last month. This new GSI should boot on any Android device that supports Project Treble, which means most devices that launched with Android 8.0+. Although it’s worth noting that Project Treble support is only required for devices with Google certifications, so you may face some issues while installing this GSI on devices imported from China.
Before you go ahead and install the LineageOS 17 GSI on your device, you should know that it’s based on phhusson’s release and, therefore, it carries forward some of the same issues and bugs. So it would be best to try out phhusson’s release on your device and report any bugs you encounter here. In case you don’t encounter any major issues, you can be sure that the LineageOS GSI would also work on your device. If you’re new to flashing GSIs, you can check out our tutorial here.

its not 64 bit, but ARM64 my guy.
SM-J710xx can be switched to ARM64 using spaghetX and you can try it.
Since @ananjaser1211 has stopped working for j7 2016 and project spaget x is a arm64 treble wirh some bugs like youtube reboot, if you use @SirDoz's project treble the reboot problem will be fixed.
Youtube reboot J7 2016
Hello, I tried to flash the youtube_fix.zip after installing the AOSP ROM in my Samsung J7 2016 but my phone still reboots when I try to play a youtube video.
Any idea how to fix it?
EDIT: Worked on Samsung J7 2016
1) Root your phone
2) Install Root Explorer
3) Grant root privileges to that app
4) open Root Explorer and mount R/W (top-right) your root '/','/system','/system/vendor', '/system/vendor/etc'
5) copy corrected youtube_fix XML files (see @Se8870 post) in '/system/vendor/etc' and modify existing files
6) mount r/o previous paths
7)reboot

First of all, thank you so much for all your work man, I just saw that you not only maintain official LOS for dragon and this crDroid port but also commit to official TWRP. I don't know how you do all this, but I admire and applaud it.
Two quick questions:
1. GApps are optional, right?
2. Do I flash Magisk after first boot (as described in OP under "Pre-Installation") or right after ROM (as described in OP under "First time installation")?
Edit:
Ok, I just couldn't wait and flashed it. To answer my own questions:
GApps are indeed optional and I flashed Magisk only after booting crDroid for the first time.
@ followmsi
So far I encountered the following problems:
1. A lot of artifacts/flickering/flashing of the UI, looks like refreshes/repaints that get stuck half-way. Sometimes it is impossible to e.g. use the keyboard because of this. If you want I can provide photos, but it should be pretty easy and obvious to reproduce this unless there is something seriously wrong with my installation.
2. Booting into crDroid only works every other time or so, it often freezes on the large Google logo screen. Holding the power button until it shuts off mostly fixes the problem and it boots successfully on the next try, but sometimes even a third try is needed.
Apart from these problems, first impression is very good. Nice to see Android 10 with lots of customization on the good old dragon
Thanks again and let me know if I can be of assistance.

Awesome, Thanks. Just upgraded from Dirty Unicorns. Flashed with Nik Gapps, no problem except prior mentions in the LOS thread. Thank you a gain and have a great holiday!
First of all, thank you for all your work . I have flashed crDroidAndroid-11.0-20201219-dragon-v7.1.zip and Nik gapps. After the display has switched itself off, it switches on again automatically after 5 seconds and so on. If I turn the display off using the button, it won't turn on again. Do I have any setting that causes this?
It's time for a new build ..

Thank you @followmsi for your support of this ROM, as I much prefer it with all it's customization over basic LineageOS. It seems to run much better now than before as well. I think there were some RAM-related issues.
But I have run into a grave problem, as I have accidentally turned off WiFi and now the tablet has become unresponsive, as the UI seems to crash repeatedly. Only the status bar and lock screen symbol pop in and out. I tried to turn on WiFi by booting into TWRP and changing "wifi_on" to 1 in "/data/system/users/0/settings_global.xml" but it didn't work. The tablet runs warm and safe mode doesn't work either btw. Any idea?
Edit: I decided to perform a clean install, since it's been a while anyway and we've skipped a couple versions as well. Anyway, I initially tested to turn WiFi off and it worked fine, no crash. I proceed to set up my device somewhat, enable dark mode, change icon shape, go through all crDroid settings etc.; I turn off WiFi once more, from the quick-settings, and it happened again. I'm not sure what setting or customization exactly leads to this, but I guess I'll have to be very careful not to turn it off for now. If I can help troubleshoot this issue, let me know.
Edit2: I think I figured out what it is: Data usage (daily/monthly) in the quick settings. Gotta keep that turned off.

As always, thank you so much for your ongoing support for the good old dragon!
Just a note in case anyone else stumbles upon this: I could not get this build to boot with OpenGapps and a clean install, tried three times including format data and everything. Then tried NikGapps and it worked like a charm.
ROM itself is awesome, no problems so far, reasonably fast considering the hardware and a lot of cool features.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Right on eamo5! Thank you for continuing the taimen builds! I have the Pixel 3XL as well but honestly, my 2XL blows it away, I am not ready to move on from my 2XL so I really appreciate the new ROM builds!
Great job devs! Thank you for your dedication!
installing now, do you have a kernel suggestion?
Great Job Sir !!
This is great!
Is Google Camera fully working in this rom? I need it, because I take many many photos.

I have to ask, why do you immeditely think you need to fiddle with an alternate kernel?

I agree, I never understood why users are so quick to try/use 3rd party kernels. I normally test drive the built-in kernel for whatever ROM I am using for at least a week or so, then if anything, I will use EX Kernel (through the paid app) but its also freely available I believe.

Can someone, anyone, try to (re)mount /system in RW? I need to know if /system is dedup'd and not able to remount in RW. I need to write files to /system and thats only possible in RW. I am not 100% on this ROM yet (back and forth) and right now on a different OS and forgot to check. This is the deciding factor so if anyone could just simply try to remount /system in RW, I would greatly appreciate it! I use FX File Explorer with ROOT add-on for RW, but any file manager will work. Its not so easy for me to flip back and forth with my work MFA profiles otherwise I would just redo LOS 18 and test it myself. I literally rolled over the OS last night and it took a few hours so I am not ready to redo the work again unless /system is RW so thats why I cant do it myself right now. If no one answers in a few days, I will probably try it again but I would rather make it a final build attempt, not a test build attempt as it takes hours to redo the MFA's.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks eamo5! I'm about to move back over to LOS!
Kernel support
A lot of people are asking why alternate kernels. I have a valid reason and its for Kcal support. @Eamo5 will this ever happen? I absolutely love night light and can't live without it at night. (late night surfer)
Thanks again for all of your hard work!

Installation instructions
Make sure you are on Q stock firmware (All of the Q firmwares are tested and confirmed to be working, This should be the case with new fws too as long as Samsung doesnt significantly change bootloader trustzone bits)
Download Q twrp from this thread
flash twrp as per given instructions
if you are coming from stock and have encryption enabled format data (Note i said format, Wiping it in twrp is not the same as formating it)
wipe cache, dalvik cache and system
flash LineageOS
If you want to have gapps flash them right after flashing the rom before first booting
Reboot the device

I do this in my free time so bear that in mind when you notice I didn't fix known bug in next available build, Currently i work on this alone and i am not one of those kangers that just copy source and claim it as their own work,
if you want to support the project feel free to buy me some coffee paypal.me/ivanmeler
Due to requests from some users I added signature spoofing support to the rom which allows usage of MicroG
you can simply install MinMicroG and grant it needed permissions for signature spoofing to make it work as intended

Magisk
Magisk boot images are provided in this google drive folder named beyond*lte-boot-magisk.img you can flash them on boot slot and install magisk manager, No need to worry about rebooting to recovery or not having TWRP and magisk at the same time, Just make sure you dont try to boot to system with magisk patched TWRP as that might cause issues but as long as you have stock twrp and have flashed beyond*lte-boot-magisk.img image to boot slot you are fine, Source for given kernel is available at GitHub if you want to compile kernel yourself just run source build.sh devicename e.g. source build.sh beyond2lte, It will produce new boot image in build/ folder, To update magisk you can follow instructions given at this commit enjoy
Do note that you will have to reflash magisk boot image when updating rom
Wow ! Man, very nice job !
So, you stop release for Lineage 17 ?

Hi @Ivan_Meler i'm looking to change rom (i'm on hades rom but this one is not support anymore). And i just want to know if i need a custom kernel to improve battery life on LoS rom (this one or 17.1)?
Thanks for your precisions and your work to maintain on devices uptodate !

Great. Thanks. I'll go on 17.1 LoS for awhile and will install this one when it will be more "polish".
Hi I don't know why but on previous lineage os ROMs, when I use TWRP and boot.img it would always boot back to recovery everytime I flashed a ROM.
Can you use lineage recovery to flash ROMs?
Ivan_Meler said:
If you want to root build you will have to use Magisk Canary from here, Once in app download Lineage Recovery for your device from Google Drive or Mega Patch image within manager and flash patched image to recovery partition, When booting hold recovery key combination till you get to first warning screen after that release keys and let system continue booting normally
Magisk curently has some issues properly detecting 2si devices so thats why we cant use boot.img without need for key combo for magisk right now, I will look into that in coming days but till then this is viable solution

make sure you followed instructions closely
1. Download recovery image
2. Download magisk canary app and patch recovery image
3. Flash magisk patched recovwry image (lineage recovery) to recovery partition
4. reboot and hold key combination for recovery until first warning screen shows up, after that release key combo
5. you should be in system with root
if you need further assistance im sure someone from telegram group can help you a bit more

I did that but I still have no magisk
SD cards on the s10e just dont work, they keep saying its corrupted even after you format them in android itself ive also tried formatting in windows and twrp but same problem.
network traffic indicator can be turned on but never actualy shows up.
after installing magisk it takes apps 20 seconds to open.
if you need logs i will be happy to do so (if i can remember how to do so)
Wow, already an android 11 ROM ? Nice !
Is there the same issues as on L17 regarding bluetooth and front camera ?
Hi Ivan
Thanks for the great work! Awesome to have Android R available so early. Rom is solid.
On S10e i can confirm, it does not read MMC, i also tried formatting etc, not a biggy
On Bluetooth i can confirm that devices working, headphone sound, speakers etc. But on call when phoning, the sound does not come over to the headset.
HDMI Out is glitchy, creates flickering on secondary display, but is random....
Other than that, the rom is smooth and fast. Still checking battery...
Looking forward to developments...
