Hello everyone, like someone here, i'm new with Samsung first and A50 specifically.
Anyway, the jump from an old Neffos c5 is tooo huge to make some paragon
I firstly choose a Redmi note 7 especially for the price but unfortunally the phone randomly get shut down by itself without any reason... anyway... a sad story of one month in xiaomi device who no one care. i give it back and with 70 more euro got the A50.
Now... the only thing who make me no sleep well is the missing of brightness setting for Always on Display.
I see the top phone of samsung have this option, and is so sad this missing here. But i'm not here for complain about choice of samsung for differentiate their phones/prices...
So.. i started to look around the web for found a solution firstly for notification during the AOD always active.
many app is fake AOD...but what i found is a perfect app because they run WITH the default AOD and the battery usage is really good.
Anyway...again... AOD is awesome, LED me Know (the app) too, now the little problem is the brightness.
because yes, is all good during the day, but if the light is very low, the brightness is really LOW too much low... you need to look to the phone and...and almost ask to bixby if you have notification or not .. i joke but... we are almost at this lvl...
In short...by turning on topic of the title, i installed ADB on PC and the connection with the phone works well, i see the device connected, i use some string to see if all works, for example, open a web page, or increse and decrease brightness and all works well.
then i try to use this shell for the problem of AOD brightness
.\adb shell settings put global always_on_display_constants "screen_brightness_array=-1:100:100:100:100"
and a sort of verification if got applyed with
.\adb shell settings get global always_on_display_constants

all seems look well, but my phone continue to adapt the brightness by the change of luminosity in the room.
I have Not try to restart, but im pretty sure nothing change at this point... editok i try to restart and nothing change)
So, what i ask is.
if i get global always_on_display_constants and the phone reply with the previous setting i put with ADB, and the setting is the same 100 for every lvl of light change, why he ignore the new value and nothing happen?
this is the shell posted for a Pixel 2 phone, the most result i found by search engines...
there is something different for our A50?
is in some ways locked from this specific change?
anyone with a rooted A50 want give it a try?
My A50 is not rooted and i dont want to lose the warranty for this little problem...for now.
sorry for the long story/question
look at this post like an introduction of my first expirience with A50 and curiosity to make it more specific to me^^
cya
i made it a bit more short for who don't wanna read the long story version ...
The shell command ADB is the specific one who change the brightness of always on display in samsun A50? and is correct?
.\adb shell settings put global always_on_display_constants "screen_brightness_array=-1:100:100:100:100"
-Why if is correct, don't make any change to the brightness of my A50 SM-A505FN/DS 128GB AOD?
The fact of my phone is not atm rooted is the motif?
-you know another way instead of installing fake and useless AOD?
thanks in advance

Is there any way to forcefully enable AOD on Mi 10T? Via build.prop or tweaking MIUI itself; I just want to try this while my phone screen is off, that's all

It's a fun novelty, we should all admit.
I tried installing the Always on apk from the m10 on my 10T but nothing changed.
Then I changed my region to India (global rom) and the AOD option appeared in settings but when I applied it, nothing happened.
Always on displays are only available on OLED screens that can illuminate single pixels. LCD will never have always on displays so this thread needs closing.

LCDs are never meant to have AODs, yes, I get the whole point out of it, but My point is, there are ways that other MIUI devices, i.e., RN9Pro curtana, with a lil bit of flashing some AOD Mods thru Magisk have proven that MIUI AOD can be enabled, what I'm trying to convey is that, os there anyone here, with the knowledge and enough curiosity that could help people like me to enjoy a bit stupid but fun way of "messing around" with the android framework, that's all. You don't need to "Close" this thread.
Honestly, ain't anyone here amazed by that MIUI AOD? It consumes power because we have an LCD panel, yes, but we can turn it off anytime. It's both the novelty and satisfaction that gave birth to this stupid but curious idea.
It's not that much of a novelty, i had aod 10 years ago on several phones... It just comes to the fact that you don't really don't need that
si think this is a good idea! probably all LCD displays know aod handling. It just doesn’t allow it because of the brutal reduction in energy use!

How do i start AOD?RN9pro
Hello all!

1st - I want this notification bar with all its icons to Auto-Hide ALWAYS, and show up only when i swipe it down,
and than after set amount of time to auto-hide.
2nd - I want this navigation bar at the bottom to also Auto-Hide ALWAYS also, and when i swipe UP to be shown,
and than after set amount of time to auto-hide.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So that's basically it.
How can i achieve that?
P.S.
So i am about to get my new phone "Samsung Galaxy A22 (4G)" in about 5 days, so i want to prepare for it.
Im buying glass protection, mask (something like this) and also, since its an AMOLED (OLED) screen, and It's known that OLED screens can get burn-ins,
(my other OLED phones already have burn-ins in some form or another) so i want to take care of it as much as i can, as i always did, but
what i noticed is that burn-ins on my previous devices are from navigation and notification bars mostly...actually ONLY from those two!
So i was thinking on removing those two to auto hide them.
There is a partial solution since i use NOVA launcher prime, it can hide notification bar but only
from home screen.
Whenever i'm in any other application it's shown again, unless that aplication it self hides it and go full screen, like youtube in full screen for example.
I want it to always be hidden unless i swipe it to be visible. Same with navigation bar. I want clean screen and only on demand bars.
Plus, i want it in generan even if its not OLED but more so with OLED!
Now here's the thing, i cant find a solution! I thought its a simple thing or that there is an option in settings,
but there is none. I also tried some play store apps, but they dissable keyboard and back button. Some even say i need to enable permission
by entering command from PC and so on... i dont wanna get some malware or whatever on my phone.
I came here for some elegant, simple solution without so many steps, and even if some permissions are needed i feel more comfortable you guys telling me i can safely do that than some sketchy app or tutorial online.
Thanks in advance guys!
So one of the things I was excited about when I got this phone is that the Edge Lighting app would not include hole punch camera notifications. But when I reinstalled the app it wouldn't work! Wouldn't even open! I found this especially odd cuz why wouldn't an app developed by Samsung work on a Samsung phone? I ended up uninstalling it since it didn't work. Now I can't even find it in the Galaxy Store. Only 3rd party apps.
Has anyone else had this issue?
It was always a bit twitchy.
Make sure it has all needed permissions, notifications. Global power management may also screw it up ie adaptive battery and such.
Edge Screen is in settings under display if that's what you're referring too. At least on the N10+/Pie variant.

On my S9 Plus I had the Edge Lighting + app which gave additional animations. Those look to be standard on this model. So I guess the reason the app didn't work is cuz all those features are included now. I was able to find it. It's moved in settings to Notifications. In the pop up settings you have to select Brief to get the Edge Lighting now & then got into Brief Pop-up Settings to select which effect you want.
I was going to delete this thread but don't see the option. If a mod can delete it please do.

Good thread. If I do a search in settings for "Edge Lighting" I pull up that that page in my previous but also this one.
I can navigate to it through search but not otherwise. It's hiding
It may interacting with Good Lock which is firewall blocked to keep it from updating.
Hi community!
I'm not really satisfyed with the flashlight intensity and the tourch function of the device. Compared to my old Mi 9 Lite the difference is tremendoes!
I tried to access the test menues via *#*#6484#*#* , went to the "Notification (LED) section and saw that there ist a slide control for the flash. It is set to 1/3 of the possible intensity. Setting it to max. reveals the whole potential of the flashlight and explains the bad lowlight picture quality while using the camera and also the mediocre torch function. Unfortunately ,as this is only a test there is no way to save the settings. Does any of you has an idea where the phone parameters can be modified? Path to the file?
I bought the phone because of the cam, among other things, but due to the above fact it turns to be worse than that of the 3 y.o. Mi 9 Lite!
I have a suspition that the reviewers used a different version of the device, since I cannot explain such high ranking for the camera.
I'd appreciate your help

how to get this seting permanently?
The path is:
/sys/class/leds/led:torch_0/brightness
Default value is 75.
You can do "echo 200 > /sys/class/leds/led:torch_0/brightness" but only when the flashlight is turned on.
When you turn it on again it will be 75.
Figured out a script that do:
watch -n3 "echo 160 > /sys/class/leds/led:torch_0/brightness"
But it's a nasty hack.
Don't have a clue how to do it better
How do you access the path?
Is root needed for this action?
So, for my understanding you were able to modify the flashlight parameters, but there's no way to save them?
Like I tried to modify the intensity as shown in the above screenshots - the setting are always back to the default ones
The default settings aren't good enough to shoot good pics under the low light conditions.
I wonder why did Xiaomi do that?
Yes, root is needed.
I just played with torch parameters. They reset to default 75 every turning on the flashlight. When the flashlight is on, it accepts new values, making the LED brighter. So i made a script that overwrites the brightnes every 3sek. It's the best I could think of
I'll try to modify the photo flash soon, but I don't think it will work. The flash is to short to have time to modify file.
I have had my device for 8 months without issues. Just 5 days ago it started overheating out of nowhere. Temperature can rise from 31 to 47°C between just a minute when I'm on a call. This comes with a huge battery drain during these spikes. Similar thing happens when I'm downloading or doing any network intensive activity. I used to get 7-8hrs SOT now I can barely get 3hrs.
When I switch to Wifi I don't experience this temperature spike and battery drain when I'm downloading stuff.
The heat is at topmost part, around the camera areas.
I have full LTE connectivity
Any help?
I'm on stock and I don't have any apps apart those downloaded from the playstore.
That means you can't help in any way.
Thanks
Never heard of this before. Try setting network mode to lte only. Go to dialpad and enter *#*#4636#*#*. Select phone information 1. Then under "set preferred network type" select lte only. Hope this solves it.
You can also change the sim to slot 2 and see if the issue persists.

I've done exactly that but still. The attached image shows the power draw when making a call.
I think it's a problem with the modem although I'm not sure. WiFi connection however is totally different, it doesn't spike up temps and battery drainage.
I have the exactly same problem.
What do you think might be the problem?
i have same issue
U have few options
1.root ur phone to a different os other than miui.
2.buy a phone fan cooler.
3.buy and expensive phone like Samsung s22ultra or the likes that have no overheating complains .
4. Wait for 5 years because a specific company is making ssd cooling technology and will implement that in phones in the near future . Then buy these phones.
Frustrated android user indeed .
Thanks for your suggestions
i found out that gallery is making these battery dragining and overheating problems.
SOLUTION: FORCE STOP gallery if your are non rooted user like me and use google photos instead.
BTW: they didnt fixed it with miui 14
I got my F3 ten months, and never experienced this issue.
I would suggest trying the following steps.
1: Go to Developer options.
2: Scroll down to Apps heading
3: Check background Process Limit. By default Standard will be selected.
4: Change it to either Atmost 1 Process at a time OR 2 process at a time.
I cant guarantee that the steps above will solve your problem but it fixed mine.
Try it and let us know if that helped.
