Note 10+ Wireless Charging Slow - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I have noticed my wireless charging is too slow.
1st incident (Using Samsung Wireless Power Bank 10000mah Full Charged): My battery is around 15% charge it wirelessly at 1am. I woke up 8am and its 90%.
2nd incident (using Samsung Fast charging Dock): My battery is 24% saying 2hrs to full. after 2 hours its still 61%
anyone having the same issue?

What is the output voltage and current of each?

the wireless power bank is 7.5 watts
the wireless charger dock is 5v/2 amp

while the power bank is having good charging rate, i think there is an issue with dock as it should charge faster.

5V 2A is standard these days. Can you try a different charge cable? Could also just be faulty out of the box...

To be honest, the only device / charger combo I've found to *not* be slow is a Huawei Mate 20 Pro with a Huawei wireless charger.

1.0a vs 2.0a Charger

I used Charger Timer, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vexedbadger.chargertimer , to test the rate of the 2.0a charger the note came with compared to a 1.0a samsung charger from my wifes note 1.

Averaged a 1% charge every 73.85 seconds @ 1511ma
It would take 2 hours and 4 minutes to go from dead to fully charged.

Averaged a 1% charge every 110.62 seconds @ 1008ma
It would take 3 hours and 4 minutes to go from dead to fully charged.
I expected the 2.0a charger to be twice as fast, but that wasn't the case. Either way I glad this phone has 2.0a charging and will buy more 2.0a chargers. The extra charging speed is a nice feature I don't think any other phone has.
If anyone else wants to run any tests to compare I would appreciate it.

now where is my 2.0a OEM car charger?
I don't trust those no name car charger claiming to be 2.0a.
1.0 vs 2.0
Mini-type or 2/3A recomend to use 1.0A, and large type or Sub-c recomend to use 2.0A.
Where is a good place to order an OEM charger?

Solar charger

Any recommendations for sloar portable charger for NOTE-2 ?
I bought already one and instead of charging it is draining down the battery! Probably because it uncomon 11pins USB. This happens when I connect to solar panel. When I connect to battery power bank everything works fine, but my main puprose was to use the solar panels.

Someone chime in here if im wrong. But based on output power of .5 watts, and voltage being 5 volts. I see that as having a current output of 100mAh.
Home computers have a usb output of 500mAh and the standard home charger that comes with it is 1000mAh or 1Ah charger.
Based on that, unless my math is wrong, which it could be as i suck at match, LOL, your not putting enough power into your phone. This is why its draining.
5 watts would give you 1000mAh output, which is whats recomended for the unit. I would say anything less then 3 or 3.5 watts would be breaking even.

correct. Minimum you'll need to charge is 5W or 1 amp. 500 mA will just slow discharge. The charger that came with the phone is 2 A or 10W, this is why it charges faster. He'll probally need to charge the battery pack on the solar charger, then use the battery pack to charge your phone.

Thanks for pointing that out _Dennis_ I have been using a 1 amp charger for mine, charging at night while im asleep. I was not aware that it came with a stock 2 amp charger. Ive got other 1 amp chargers set up from previous phones so i never used the stock one.
So my math above is off by 50% since i was basing it off 1 amp charging, and the stock is 2 amp.
Ok, so if I go towards phone/notebook solar charger, what would be recommended ? My Samsunf tablet comes with 19v 2A adapter so itlooks like if I have charger to supply this same amount of power it should work for Slate and Note2 as well. Right ?

Is 19V the output? If so then NO. The Note 2 requires 5V 2A..

Wired and wireless charging speed

Hello all,
I am trying to figure out which is the fastest charger, wired or wireless for the Nexus 5. To do this, I suggest we gather measurements about the charging speed for the phone charging when it has less than 75% charge.
My results are the following so far:
T-Mobile dual usb wall charger 700-800 mA
this ebay Qi charger [1] 200-300 mA

Note that the T-mobile dual USB charger was the power source when using the Qi charger and the same microUSB cable was used in both cases.
Does anybody have a wired or wireless charger that can charge faster?
Also, I am using the Elixir 2 app to measure the mA, is there an alternative that does not require the screen on (I feel that it may affect the measurements)?
The one that outputs more mah will charge faster.

They're both awful outputs u need at least 1000 mA / 1A output. You can damage the battery with underpowered charge rates

Guys, for the wired chargers, we are not talking about the STATED MAXIMUM OUTPUT here, we are talking about the output IN PRACTICE. Most chargers are rated for instantaneous output (it can output 1A or 2A or whatever is listed on the charger, but only for a millisecond, then the rate will fall off).
Please use the app and let me know what your rates for wired charging are (not that the rates fall off when the device is charged more than 75%, so try to test when the charge is lower than that). I bet the rate you find will be lower than 800mA, but if this is not the case, I am curous on the charger and cable that you use.
As for the wireless charger, I know it is very very bad, am trying to return it.
A poor/cheap usb cable will make a massive difference too. I once had a cable that wouldn't let more than 384mA through it!

Exactly! This is why I picked the cable I am using now, but I could not get over 900mA with this combination of cable + charger. The Charger is a T-mobile dual USB 3A charger and in my opinion it is very good.
The stock wired charger is rated for 1.2A and actually charges at just over 1 A. The charging chipset in the phone limits charging to 1.5 A max.
The nexus wireless charger charges at 750 mA max. Bad positioning and cases will reduce wireless charging efficiency though.

I've noticed that during wireless charging my phone will charge at 500-600mA up until 85-87% and after that it will charge at 300mA to 100%, so make sure when you are testing to test at lower battery capacity. Also, try wireless charging from a USB port of a computer, I've noticed that I got better performance form USB port than from 2A touchpad charger.

Wired charging is always going to be faster than wireless charging. Wireless charging on the Nexus 4 Orb takes about twice as long as charging via the supplied wired charger with the Nexus 5. Technology is going to have to advance quite a bit before wireless charging eclipses wired charging. There is an inherent inefficiency with wireless charging that wired charging does not have.
i bough one of those white, skewed ones off ebay for 10€ shipped and am pretty happy with it!

How fast is Qi charging?

I received the Nillkin Magic Disk charger I ordered a few days ago.
It's the first wireless charger I have owned or tried. I have the disk connected to what is supposed to be a 5V / 2A adapter.
It took 7 hours to fully charge my Nexus 5 from 6% with the Magic Disk. This seems like way to long to me and if it's normal, this severely limits the usefulness of wireless charging. Neither the charger nor the phone seemed to get warm at all during charging
How fast is wireless charging supposed to be? Does this vary between different types of Qi chargers?

Should be much faster than that, about half an hour longer than stock wired charging with the Nexus 5 adapter/cable.
~2.5 to a little over 3 hours depending on the charger.
If you are using a decent 2A adapter with your charger, it may be your USB cable. Some cables out there are quite crap and despite using a high amp adapter will keep the settings as USB (as if you're plugged into a computer port) and charge at around 500mA max if you're lucky.
In your case, the USB cable may be doing that, and severely underpowering your Qi charger, which will end up charging your phone at like 300 - 350mA. Stock wired by the way charges at ~1050mA by comparison. This could explain why your charge times are over 3x as long.
If you have your stock USB cable that came with your Nexus 5, try testing it with that to see if there is an improvement.
Mine charges at 600mA.

My Nexus 5 charges at roughly 1000mA with its wall charger. So I guess wireless will be 40% less efficient...

Depends on the Qi charger and its output. Efficiency is generally around 70 - 75%.
I have a few 1A Qi chargers, and they charge at roughly 740 - 760mA when charging at full speed.

How many amps will the G4 draw when charging at 5V?

I know this phone is Quick Charge 2 capable, but does that apply only to high voltage charging, or also to standard 5V?
I ask because I bought a 3.1A charger, and though the phone was almost dead, it didn't charge any faster than the 1.8A charger that came with the phone. Is the charger defective, or will this phone just not draw 3.1A at 5V?
QC2.0 is 9V at 1.2-1.3A.
Normal 5V is at around 1.7-1.9A only.
It will not draw anything more than what's above. FWIW, IMO, QC2.0 doesn't make a huge difference

Thanks. So QC is only a protocol for changing voltages, it has nothing to do with negotiating or handling a higher current draw?

QC is a protocol for allowing a maximum possible current draw at a predefined voltage. Just because you have a higher possible current supply from a charger it doesn't mean that the G4 will draw more.
E.g. G4 can only draw 1.8A a 5V. If you use a 1A charger, it can only draw 1A but if you use a 2A charger it will only be able to draw 1.8A and not the full 2A.

Note 4 cable, Stock cable and a high quality third-party cable all the same. The cables work fine as they charge to Note 4 quick and a Tab 3.
I give up. I even put this LG poss on ICE to 18 degrees Celsius but still same crap. Night charging for me then. Even Note 4 quick charger can't help it.
Nice phone for sure but I'm going back to Samsung next upgrade, sorry LG.

What. You're using a **** charger. Get a proper charger. I know because I've tried mine on a **** charger, a Samsung Charger and an ASUS QC2.0 Charger. Nobody has the problems but you.

My supposed sh#t chargers work fine on other phones. I guess i bought a sh#t phone. Anyway love the phone hate the charging. Cheers

It does sound defective, unfortunately. Mine charges at up to 1%/minute, and that's without a QC 2.0 charger.
I use LG stock charger and a third party 2.1A charger to charge, Ampere shows that it has around 1000 mah. Apart from the charger, the charging cable quality do affect the result too. Try to swap cable and test again.
IMO﹐stock charger with 5V 1.8A can charge quite fast with 2+ hours to fully charged from 0 to 100%, no need to go for QC2.0.

I have found that my Original Samsung 2.1A charger sucks for the G4. Somehow it knows its a Samsung and doesnt want to provide anything over 1A. That charger charges at 2A my Galaxy S4. It takes like 3-4 hours to full charge from under 15%.
My LG G4 charges fkn fast with the original one and a Tronsmart QC charger. 1% every minute.
