My Moto G5 lately is having problems with the battery, one of the problems that has been bothering me lately is that the battery is spent alone, when I have suspended my cell phone now in 1 hour it spends up to 20% battery, while always It was 1-3%, in 6 hours of 100% without use I ran out of battery, it was always that I lasted at least 2 days without using it.
Another annoying problem is that it is difficult to charge it, rarely the battery goes up when I connect it to the charger (I use the charger in the box, the battery is not swollen and I have not used a third party battery, I have not taken my cell phone to a technician)
Someone help me? all this started happening to me 1 week ago
If you have never flashed a custom rom do a factory reset
If you have flashed a custom rom then flash stock rom firmware via fastboot and test
If it's still an issue after being on a totally fresh stock rom replace the battery
Obviously you could use apps to see what is draining the battery but the chances are it won't really be much help

I have noticed that every time I load a new Rom on my phone (including a wipe) my battery life is awesome as long as I let the phone get down to about 2 percent before recharging. As soon as I charge the phone without the battery almost dead the battery life on the phone starts to suck. This leads me to believe that there is something written to flash memory when you plug the charger in. For a while I had noticed that if I plug the charger in in the middle of the day due to heavy usage that my battery life sucks for a week or so afterwards then slowly goes back to normal after regular charging before I go to bed. Under normal charging conditions (plug it in when I go to bed) I can get about a days worth of charge. This is a stark contrast to the 2 plus days I get out of the phone after a fresh ROM load is loaded and I let the battery almost die before charging it in.
Anyone else observe this or have any idea whats going on that can be causing this. Maybe its just a simple matter of finding the file and deleting it. And yes I have tried doing a jump charge and wiping the battery stats. It doesn't give the same results as a wipe of the phone with a new ROM.
My battery seems good if i do this...
Install new ROM or not, just charge phone while i sleep (usually from 12am-530am) up and at work, coverage sucks in the building so i constantly switch from 1x to 3g ... battery life drains and i will be dead by 12 - 1230pm If i leave it on charge from then until i hit 100% (usually 30 minutes after) i take it off and head out of work, ill last all day and end up at 12am again with at least 60%
This is all heavy usage. Pandora stays running, facebook and plenty of texts/emails. My phone will never sit still without any activity for 2 minutes.
Switching kernels is the thing that saved my battery with now my kernel is 2.6.32.32-ck2-BFS by ziggy
awesome battery life out of the stock HTC battery
It could be different phones handle the same rom/kernel differently too. I noticed this when i was running a blackberry storm 2. Both mine and my brothers, we would have the exact hybrid OS installed. let em sit idle after having done the exact thing....mine would drain a lot faster than his. could be phone vs phone in the same case as i mentioned, who knows? what rom / kernel you running?
Sorry man but I don't understand your post. The sentence where you explain what you do doesn't make any sense. Can you explain again.
I'm running Cyanogen 7 rc2 with the stock kernel that comes with it. I don't believe its possible to change the kernel on Cyanogen.

You can use whatever AOSP/GB kernel you want.
So its been a while since my last update but I wanted to pass along some more observations in hopes that someone can tell me how the power system works on Android phone.
For quite some time I have been able to use my phone for 2 full days before it required a recharge. This came about when I loaded Cyanogen 7 on my phone from scratch. As long as I charged it every 2 days the phone would have no problems lasting for two full days.
Two weeks ago I got stuck at a car dealership for about 8 hours. I passed the time by reading books, playing angry birds and surfing the net on my phone. About 7 hours in my phone was at 2 percent. I plugged the phone into someones charger and charged it for an hour or so so I would have a phone for the drive home. Ever since then my battery life has sucked. For a while I could barely get a full day out of my phone before it would die. I'm getting about a day out of it now which is acceptable I suppose but Its disappointing since I know the phone is capable of so much more.
So seriously what is the deal with the charging system on this phone? Why is it the phone has excellent battery life only after the phone is wiped and fully discharged before it is plugged in again? If a wipe of the phone fixes the battery what is it about the whip that does the fixing? Can it be reproduced without wiping the phone?
Come on guys. Someone out there is smart enough to figure this out. Hook us up.
It'll constantly recalibrate after you flash, so no real need to do the full discharge unless you really want to. If you don't do it then it'll get stable and better accuracy after a couple of weeks, but yes when you first flash a ROM it'll have sketchy battery life.
The battery is charging fine but your phone is still trying to determine how big your battery is, so it may not fully charge all the way. The quickest way for your phone to determine how big your battery is, is to drain it all the way down then charge it all the way back up. Some say this is potentially damaging to Li-Ion batteries. Personally I don't do it because of that, but if you chose to not do a full drain, your phone will figure out your battery size it'll just take a longer time for your phone to do it.
The actual battery life you get on your phone varies hugely on (in order):
1) amount of CPU you're using
2) data usage
3) reception strength
4) Screen brightness
So that in itself will cause some drastic day to day difference in battery life.
With all that being said, the battery life you're not getting during the inaccurate gauge period isn't that much. If you're someone who needs every last minute of battery that you need to have them right away, then personally I would suggest doing some other things such as under-volting your kernel and lowering your clock speeds.
For some reason my battery is acting like it barely wants to charge. It'll take hours just to go up by 4% and once it reaches a certain point, it no longer moves up in percentage. Sometimes it stops at 14%, sometimes it stops at 32% and sometimes it stops at 8, it's completely random. Also when I restart it, the battery percentage is completely different than what it was before. The weirdest thing is that the battery percentage actually decreases sometimes while it's on the charger. Even when I cut the phone completely off and it's showing the battery charge icon, the phone drains in percentage. This just started a couple of days ago, maybe a week after I flashed a kit kat rom.
Did you even check your port or chord? I would flash back to stock to make sure that it isn't the ROMs fault. Though it could be the battery?
? Powered By My Moga Pro ?
This has happened to me with third party batteries so try another battery and another charger. I'm running kit kat on my S2 and battery usage is quite a bit better.
I had the same problem, I tried different USB cables, flashed back to stock, nothing fixed it. I finally figured out it's charging port was going out. I took it to a place they had it replaced in 30 minutes, I'm now able to charge my phone fully and my battery life is back to being great.
Hello guys
I had my Note II (N7100) for over a year now. The battery was fantastic till like last week. I used to go from this ROM to that ROM a lot, but always went back to my rooted stock (4.1.2) and I went to 4.3 once and after realizing that it is draining my battery, I recovered.
Last week I installed DN4 and also changed my kernel and bootloader, it booted but the battery had issues. I realized that the battery isn't calibrated. So I googled and found that using *#0228# would help to calibrate the battery.
I did that but I decided I want my good old rom back. So after recovering, I re did the *#0228# again.
Then I realized the battery life has dropped to 4 hours with my normal usage (it was about a day before) and that crazy things happen on about 20% or less. Like the phone asks for sim card, or that it would turn it self off at 18% etc. This happened once at 60% as well.
And then it will stay off unless I charge it for a few seconds while off and then boot it up.
I have also realized, when charging off, it shows an empty battery, while my recovery or android itself shows 90+%.
I tried to change my kernel, no luck and I'm back to the back up before going to dn4 in first place.
Any ideas what I should do?
So I changed the batteries, and now I have my old life time back.
But still it shows an empty battery whenever I charge while the phone is off. Any ideas guys?
Hey
Had the device since around August '14 and never had any issues. Recently though I've had some seriously bad issues with charging. I was running Paranoid Android and my device died, once it finally reboot and started charging it took 5 hours to get from 4% to 70% - With completely no usage. I then got home and flashed the latest Resurrection Remix (Just in case the ROM was the issue) and unfortunately my problem has worsened.
Device takes literally 12 hours+ to charge from under 10% to 99% (I haven't seen it yet 100% in 2 days). When it finally does charge it drains quickly from the lightest of usage (WHILST still charging). I've tried 3 different main plugs and sockets, numerous USBs (From the official LG one to Samsung, Huawei, Polaroid, unbranded etc etc) and my problem still remains.
I can't just flash back to stock as it's currently dead and refusing to charge (Takes a lot of messing around just to get it to turn on and charge from 1%).
Any help would be very much appreciated as I've never had this problem on any of my devices, when I checked my battery health last week it was still reading as 'Healthy' so I really don't think the issue lies in the battery or chargers.
Thank you,
Curtis.
When you said you flashed back to stock, have you used the TOT method?
Noted that you mentioned that your battery should be fine, but probably worth to check it with another battery.
Regards

Hey guys, so for the past few weeks my G3 has been rebooting randomly, at first it was just once or twice a day. But now it's at the point that I can't use my phone anymore, it's CONSTANTLY rebooting. People suggested a battery issue, so I've changed my battery but the issue came back a week later. These reboots started around the time I flashed a thermal mod provided on XDA forums but I've flashed back to stock countless times, I've performed hard resets, factory resets and changing my charger but nothing seems to work.
I've also noticed a new issue today, my phone will show 54% battery life, then suddenly die. When I turn it back on it'll show 3%. If I charge it, it'll go from 3% to 100% in less than an hour which is quite impossible. But after a reboot, the battery will show something around 5-10% again. I really have no clue what todo or what the issue can be. Please help!
I'm currentled running Android 4.0.4 stock, non-rooted and barely any apps or bloatware (Just whatsapp, messenger and snapchat)
I have had the same problem as yours, i got a new battery and all good since. Maby you got a new faulty battery. Is it oem?
Exactly the same issue but I've tried a new battery yet
I ve got same problem then i replaced battery and since then it happened like 3 times (i was pretty mad!) but since then it works great...

Try caliberating your battery. And try changing your battery.
Battery changed and looks a lot better
