Not sure on the kernel but the rom the jedi ones come with a walkman app and awesome beats. Beats works with the walkman app so you can enhance the sound. It doesnt work with pandora though. Ive only had it a couple days on my phone and plaued around with it a bit.
is your phone rooted?
if not, DL the equlaizer app or the nooxoziede eizo rewire from the play store.
if it is rooted, you have a number of sound enhancement mods that you can flash. Just do a search for rezound, DSP manager, awesome beats,
acid audio engine, kingbeatz, SRS WOW mods, beats, etc
I'm rooted.
Thanks. I just want to make sure I don't flash something not made for this phone. I don't have the international version of the 7100. I use odin to flash and don't want my phone to show modified (so I can't get t-mobile updates).
Given all that criteria, what would you suggest?
I've tried various mods and none will work.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
power amp works great, its in the playstore, maybe one day we will get voodoo sound

First off
1. Always do a nandroid backup, if somethiing messes up you can always flash back to your backup and start again.
2. I will download the free equalizer app and also pay for the license key, with out the license key. it doesn't do anything.
3. Play with it for a awhile.
4. once your feedup with it, download the nooxoziede eizo rewire, it's a really cool sound enhancement app.
5. Then you can be more experimental, flash the mods like acid audio engines, universal mods like kingbeatz, etc
I've been using Jedi X7.2 rom, the awesome beats and the walkman app is built in, it's plays well with universal sound enhancement mods.
Got alot of sound enhancement mods in it, but I like the way it sounds now. But the sound is stil in the bright side, I am looking for the warm sound. I had the S2 before the note, it was able to achieve the warm sound. It is said that the note2 has a better DAC than the S2, but I think it has a bright sound, than the S2.
Also if you want a good music app, try the lesser known maven 3D sunset player , it's preset "xome1" is really good. Some like the poweramp player. I was with poweramp during my vibrant days and I flash the voodoo sound mod to make it better. If you want to tweak with the sound try the neutron music player. You really have to set it up correctly to get the best out of it. The trial period is only about an hour or two, then you'll have to buy the app. It's about $5, but I think it is worth it.
This is my 2 cents.

Thank you.
I have poweramp, I bought it. I think I have tried every player except 3d maven. I just tried that this morning and I'm surprised how well it sounds. It rivals poweramp from what I can tell at a quick listen and works with nooxoziede for another layer of customization.
Yes the Note II has the wolfson DAC, like the S3. I had the S2 and the Note II sounds better IMO. Samsung left the Wolfson DAC out of the original Note and people complained. Samsung heard them and put the S3 DAC in the Note II. Some have said it's not the optimal execution for the Note II and say the S3 is a better music player. Some people will find fault in anything.
Supercurio owns a Note II from what I understand so there may be a Voodoo sound port somewhere down the line.
I agree you on Neutron. Behind poweramp it sounded the best when I tested everything I could find. Maven may have taken that #2 spot.
I think with nooxoziede and either PAmp or Maven I should be able to get all the custom sound I want. Too many choices are not a good thing.
I'm rooted but running stock. I need my phone to work 100% and get T-mo updates. I want my Note II to sound better but not at any price.

If ever supercurio releases a voodoo sound, would it work with the stock t-mobile kernel?, From what I remember back when I was using the vibrant. I can only flash the voodoo sound
on a kernel that supported it. I communicated with ptmr3 the person who created the jedi series rom. He said he will look into the voodoo sound
if ever you come across a sound enhancement mod that is good, let me know
Merry Christmas

I don't see scooby doo or the redpill kernel in the link, what does it do?
Tested on the lousy zenfone 3 zoom (stock 3.5mm audio sucks inspite of DAC chip because of the poor engine optimization) and it worked like a champ but i believe other devices with SN 625 may benefit from it and they are A LOT, (use 709 build ONLY) other builds won't work as good, i tested them all.
Please do make a feedback on which other device this worked.
Snapdragon 845 devices (e.g. Sony XZ2) – improved Hi-Res Output detection
Sony XZ/XZ1 – improved Hi-Res Output detection
Lenovo X3 – reenabled 24bits
OnePlus (1st edition) – disabled DVC for Hi-Res output due to forced speaker playback
added new per-output option – No Duck – for cases when notification causes issues. Activated by default for Hi-Res output for some Snapdragon 625 devices (Asus Zenfone 3)
HTCs @ 7.0 – improved Hi-Res Output stability
Nexus 6P – fixed notification coloring
Enjoy Hi-Res music all.
Direct download, use poweramp unlocker to activate it.

Can't see any difference on the audio on Poweramp with this option set for active. The audio quality really sucks on this device.

Did you toggle the 'Wired headset/AUX" ? and was your test with headphones or via the loud speaker? and what your headphones are?
This release 709 worked for me gloriously! the only problem that it's not free and needs some work that you can find on youtube or i would post a fellow up about the odds of activating it but i just needed a conformation that it at least made a difference by utilizing the DAC chip on board!!

I've downloaded the apk you uploaded and followed the screenshots. It made zero difference to the sound quality. Poweramp DVC is great on other devices, but on my zenfone it sucks, the audio is distorted, the only way to tolerate the audio quality is by disabling it. Best player I could find so far for my zenfone is Phonograph.

The zenfone 3 zoom have an amazing sound quality and believe me the bass is insane via a good headphones, you just need to find a solution to make use of it's potentials, if you want to go throw troubleshooting provide some more information like the exact model and what software build you are currently running... you are right about the distortion i was very upset with the sound quality at the beginning but poweramp made the DAC work properly.

I wouldn't say that the sound quality on the zenfone 3 zoom is amazing. This DTS audio thing is terrible and makes sound awful. I've installed an even older version of poweramp and tried your solution, and it made a difference with my JBL T210 (not the best one around, surely). However, using Poweramp with DVC on an old Galaxy S6 that I have laying around is still miles better. Sound quality is my only complaint about this phone, that's why I was hoping for a custom rom for this thing.

Yeah you're absolutely right that DTS is a marketing thing and it sucks, you just keep trying on that poweramp 709 build only and try downloading it from APKPURE or somewhere else because the one that i provided was patched with lucky patcher and i hoped it would work with a non-rooted device to skip the activation process but apparently that is not the case, after i reflashed the phone and got rid of the root access i had to install poweramp unlocker and i have to reinstall the the main app every 2 days because without the root i can't seem to be able to activate it, keep digging, i know what a good DAC sounds like, it's not an HTC native level but it's miles ahead of the stock drivers and even better than viper4android module on magisk.

No worries about that. I've purchased the app years ago. The only thing now is that I can't allow it to update. Thanks for the hint, the sound is clearly better now.

Hi guys! Can anyone please confirm the following? Play some music and go to music settings -> dolby atmos -> change modes (music -> dynamic -> none) all those 3 sounds the same only movie setting makes a difference! I have used dolby atmos before in a rooted phone and it was amazing, but this is ****! Just check and if what i claimed above is true can you guys please raise a bug report in oneplus forum? it seems new members cant start a thread!
It's dynamic/movie/music
Dynamic is either music or movie from my experience, and it chooses the setting depending on what you are listening to, music or a movie. Dolby atmos is always on, as an optimisation for the speaker. Sounds good for me
if you want to hear the difference plugin some good quality earphones and play some good song.. you might hear the difference..

I have heard the difference, I use Bose soundsport. Checked the difference in quality on my Pixel 3 and OP 7T.
I dunno about Atmos etc, but the speakers do sound good nevertheless.
Ok, audio via phone Bluetooth connection question.
I recently exchanged my Samsung Galaxy S9 for a OnePlus 7T, and I notice that with the new phone, I have to play music on my car radio (Kia Forte) at a higher level of sound. Sound quality is good though. Has anyone had a similar experience, be it an Android or an iOS phone? Thanks!
I've been trying to work this out myself.
I moved from a Galaxy S8 to a OnePlus 7t and I stream my music via Bluetooth to my JBL Charge 4; I have been feeling like volume has been a lot lower and bass is just not there like it was on the S8. But then I had been flicking between Spotify and Deezer on my S8 so that could have contributed to the confusion as the volumes levels differ a bit on there too.
I'm on 10.0.9 (Stable - EU) and believe it to be quieter and lacking in comparison to Samsung :/
Try dolby atmos equalizer and you can feel the difference of volume boost and audio quality had same problem on my car with sony BT stereo but with that app it's a lot better, give it a try.. You can find it under "oneplus 7t themes apps and mods"

My T-Mobile 7T has the Dolby Atmos equalizer option, and it does help with sound quality, but not overall loudness.
Also, I tried this on my OP, and it more or less helps with a bit louder sound, but not as loud as the Samsung.

Yes the apk.. to get it working properly you need to disable the in-built one, either via adb or disable application app (root)
Hi,
I recently got a S21 FE and while I'm pretty happy with it, I feel like the speakers are far below acceptable.
Up until now I owned an, by now 5 years old, Huawei mate 10 plus. It was a middle class phone with normal speakers - nothing fancy. However the sound quality is still much better. It got some "Stereo+" setting that only activates in landscape + certain volume but it improves it a lot.
Since there is no additional hardware build into it, it has to be done by software. Is there a way to get a similar effect on Samsung phones? I tried the build in equalizer but it didn't do much nor did it really improve things.

Whiteout root no
Could you explain why not? I do not need the exact feature, I just want a similar sound which should be possible with equalizers or something similar, or not?

Codecs , replacement and tweaks like this I know. Equaliser settings not enough https://github.com/Briclyaz/NLSound_module_QCom example
In the settings for the tone:
Switch off "Dolby Atmos"
Set the Equalizer to "Jazz"
Like this you will have a much more warm speaker sound.
Additionally you can try Poweramp Equalizer from google play store. It's got a load of features for the equalizer.
I'm using Wavelet https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pittvandewitt.wavelet
It's a good alternative to Viper without root
Also jetAudio player has a lot of audio settings
