Instant Tethering - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Switching from Note 9 to Note 10+. One of the features I loved was instant tethering with my Samsung Chromebook Pro. Tried using it yesterday and the option was not there. Am I missing something?

Hoping the Note 10 gets this also.

[Q] mobile ap with out extra service change?

My samsung Galaxy S was dieing on me, so I opted for the Note II. But one feature that is missing from the Galaxy S is the Mobile AP (access point) which work with out any extra charge. With the Note II it seems that this is no longer the case, it wants me to use the T-Mobile hotspot which only works if I enable this service with my network (another 5 bucks a month).
Is there a work around if I root my phone?
if so, point me to it.
thanks.

Claiming Samsung Galaxy Perks on a LTE Note 8.0?

I want to be able to claim the Samsung perks but it's not accepting my registration code. Apparently only the Wifi verion of this works, even though I purchased my note 8 in the USA no-term? Can this be skirted around or am I forced to rebuy a LTE-incapable note 8.0 for these perks.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm not pissed if it doesn't work, but it'd make my day ifthere was a workaround
EDIT: If it helps I've flashed my LTE note 8 (SGH-i467m)'s rom to the Wifi Note 8 (like SG-n5100 or something, I cant remember the exat model number), which disabled the LTE features in the process, so by all intents and purposes i am running a wifi Note 8.
Galaxy perks is only on 5110 models WIFI only.
AT&T does not have them. Thus your registration is different as well mainly due to the device being an SGH designation not a GT model.
The only perks worth having IMO are the $25 Google play credit.
Though, only a hand full of apps deserve payment. Too many have ads or just to wonky.

[Q] Developer Edition - Unknown Device?

I recently got the Note 4 Dev Edition and just took out my S5 SIM and slapped it in. Note 4 works as it should. When I log in to my account it shows non VZW device. Does the DE Note 4 really need to be activated? Just curious since my phone is working fine.
Mine didn't, it shows my DE (well just note 4).
Thanks for the response. Did you use the sim card that came in it?
I had upgraded my sim on my note 2 in 2014 to a enhanced sim (for softcard etc, which I dont use) and I just switched them out and no problem. Shows up as a note 4
that is weird. my developer shows fine no problems. just shows note 4 but no issues. my nexus 6 showed non vzw device but note 4 dev is fine
Strange indeed. I'm not going to worry about it for now. I guess when advanced calling aka VoLTE is available for the Note 4, I'll have to worry about it then since it looks like I have to manually activate the feature.
Interesting... I logged in today to my verizon account and now both phones are listed as Note 4s. Guess it took Verizon a while to update their database for the IMEIs.

Upgrade Question about pens

I have an S5 and am considering upgrading to the Note 4. The Note 5 doesn't cut it because of the lack of removable battery and microsd slot, and all I want is the larger screen, OIS, and the stylus. I had a Note 2 and loved it, so the Note 4 seems the only logical upgrade path. Oh, and I want a broadcast FM receiver, which lands me at a Sprint Note 4.
My question is, will the pen for my Lenovo Thinkpad x61 tablet work with the Note 4 screen? It will be much more comfortable that the toothpick stylus of the Note series.
Thanks

Keith, I have a pen from a Gateway that I bought off of eBay. It works fine with the Note 4 as well as the Note 3. The Note 4 screen is responsive to my Gateway pen, in that the line is wider/darker when you press harder on the screen with the pen. This is normal behavior for the S-pen on the Note 4. I suggest you take your Thinkpad pen into a Sprint store and try it on a Note 5. You probably won't find a Note 4 in a Sprint store, as Sprint seems to have recalled all the Note 4s. You may, if you're lucky, find a Note 4 at Best Buy. If you do, snap it up, as they may not be available for very long. Rumor has it that Samsung has asked it's distributors to take the Note 4s off the shelf and send them back. I tried over a week ago to get one at a Sprint store in Minnesota, but they were already recalled. None left anywhere in MN from Sprint. I got mine off of Craigslist. They can also be found on eBay.
I had the Note 3; in fact, I still have it. I still don't see the Note 4 as a huge upgrade. The screen is, of course, higher resolution on the Note 4. The Note 4 has Spark. Spark on my Note 4 isn't a whole lot faster than LTE on my Note 3, in Minneapolis. According to Sprint, I live in an area where the Spark signal is at it's peak. It may be that there are just too many people around me trying to use Sprint's Spark. I did do the tweak where you reassign the priorities of the Spark bands. That didn't seem to do much to improve my speed.
There's still a LOT of development going on on the Note 3. The Note 3 also received Lollipop officially. The devs on the Note 3 forum have added apps to their ROMS from the Note 4 and the S6. This is to not meant to demean our awesome developers for the Note 4 in any way.

still seeing old carriers boot logo

I purchased a Galaxy note 8 from Verizon years ago. After being with Verizon for a year I switched to TMobile to save some money and I brought my Verizon note 8 with me. I used the note 8 on TMobile for another year then I switched back to Verizon and got the pixel 4xl. I sold my old note 8 to a friend who was using straight talk as his carrier. The TMobile boot screen still pops up and he still get messages from T-Mobile and he doesn't have data when he is talking on the phone. Is there a way to fix this? The phone is unlocked and paid off. TMobile says they don't know how to get their stuff off the phone. Any help is much appreciated.
