LOL the Linux on Dex website says the Note 10+ isn't supported yet. The phone just came out and LoD is still in beta. Be patient.
between for Userland, which VNC viewer you use on dex mode ?

Patience won't work; Samsung just emailed me:
End of Linux on DeX Beta
Thank you for supporting Linux on DeX Beta. The development of Linux on DeX was all thanks to customer interest and valuable feedback. Unfortunately, we are announcing the end of our beta program, and will no longer provide support on future OS and device releases.
NOTE — Linux on DeX will not be supported on Android 10 Beta. Once you update your device to Android OS 10, you will not be able to perform a version rollback to Android Pie. If you decide to update your device to Android 10 Beta, we recommend backing up data before updating.
Thank you,
The Linux on DeX Team

Well that genuinely sucks. I saw a lot of potential in Linux on DeX.
As far as not being able to roll back to Pie from the Android 10 beta...that would genuinely surprise me. I've never seen them change bootloader versions on official beta builds, simply because some people choose to leave the beta and roll back to the stable release. You will have to wipe data to roll back, but you should be able to rollback. Its easy enough to check bootloader version number before updating just in case.
I received the same email and I am not really happy with it, as it was one of the reasons to get the 512gb note 10+ ...

As the dawn of 64-bit processors are on the horizon, how long till our chipset dies?
I'm amazed on how I can run Android Nougat 7.1.2 despite Qualcomm stopped releasing drivers for the chipset (as far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong). When Android O comes out, will we ever get a full taste on it?

We can not say right now but as you observed that we came from jb to nougat and we might see android o if our devs stays strong and still uses armani without the device they can't do anything as they have to test many things to do for initial bring up of android o lineage/aosp builds
We now have Nougat check unofficial build by HemantBeast.

Eagerly waiting for it. ?
So yes, I see on TV these a news about Android Oreo that just released this month. Seems interesting, but I had a question:
Is there an official Android Oreo for this device?
Thanks for the advance. Sorry for my bad English.
nope. The last release they did was the final version, maybe some security patches but thats it unfortunantly.
We probably will be getting custom 8.0 roms though

Saw on the Nextbit forum on Reddit that Android O is being discussed so hopes up that they'll decide to update.

oh that would be nice. I read somewhere that they would only do security patches and that 7.1 was the last major update they would do. I hope what i read wasn't true because it would be amazing to have an official 8.0 build

Here is the thread where a Nextbit rep said it's being discussed. It would indeed be great to have an official 8.0 build.

OK, thanks. I need to turn on my VPN first because in Indonesia Reddit is blocked.
Wish I found out about this sooner. I already ported my my device to Lineage OS 14.1 build, and now I await the Lineage OS 15 build with all its new optimizations and features built from Android Oreo.

Hardware support has ended, but software support goes on until February 2018. I think O will be the last manufacturer update we see.

I honestly doubt they will, but I'd love to be proven wrong! Treble will enable such great things for our device
I've been anticipating the Android 9 update for my XA2 for a while. I see most people are getting it and for some reason I just don't have it. I'm still on 8.0 and the System Update section says I'm at the latest version. Am I missing something?

Although its very irritating situation for any Android user that he/she have device which have been got latest Android version by manufacturer but they doesn't get yet, but in XA2 case i feel its much batter that this device user stay on oreo after getting pie experience.. believe me its really useless update, don't have even new launcher 9 and user interface, and the most disappointing thing is worst camera performance that previous, camera was perform well when XA2 was on oreo, but now i am feeling my device like a piece of **** and nothing
Try download a android 9.0 based ROM via latest XperiFirm and flash via newflasher (this app is for all platforms like Linux, MacOSX, Windows) but fist find guide how to flash this ROM because you will first must delete some .ta files before flashing.
Lucky you, I miss the oreo camera so much. Better skip this OTA.
So I bought a G8 for super cheap from a friend just to use on wifi, and now I'm learning you cant update without an ATT Sim (which is incredibly dumb imo) and I don't have one. I've looked for guides and seen a lot of mismatching information and its pretty confusing as I'm new to this. Is it possible to manually flash the newer firmwares to update? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Pie a better OS than 10.
Rule #1 - if a OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be.
That's what this N10+ is running on, zero issues.

A root quest... so be it.
You'd think 9 be easier to root.
I have a Samsung J2 SM-S260DL still stuck on Android 8.1. Some of the apps I use are now only compatible with Android 9 +. Does Samsung automatically update the phone's Android ---because I contacted Tracfone and they told me it's up to the phone manufacturer. I tried the phone's software update, but don't get the 9 update.

Android 8.1.0_0008
Build MTAJQ.S260DLUDU2ASE4
Kernel 3.18.14-16126611
I don't think Samsung after 4 years of releasing this phone has the motivation to improve Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) to version 9. Enjoy what you have.
p.s.
What compels you to look for android 9?

B/c a few of the apps I use are now only compatible with android 9+. I've only had the phone a couple of years--I got it from QVC. They tend to sell phones already released for cheap. I got the Samsung J2, 1500 data, 1500 texts, 1500 minutes with 1 year of service for 59.99 --on 6 payments of like 10 bucks. Phone works great. Is in excellent condition---but just need Android 9 b/c some of the app updates need newer versions of android
