My 4G network keeps dropping to H+ multiple times in an hour, just like my S10+ did. If I turn airplane mode on/off then my phone finds 4G network again. I even changed my sim card to new one when I had S10+ and it didnt fix anything, and now my Note10+ is having the same exact issue.
Very frustrating!

If it's happening with two different phones and different Sim cards, my guess shifts towards network related issue instead of the phone.

Your phone switches to the best signal it finds, in your case the strongest one is the 3g one
Yeah you are likely between 2 phone masts and the H signal is stronger, I've it happen before with phones when I'm in an area near the edge of 2 towers.
Putting it into airplane mode forces the modem off then on again meaning it will pick a signal and stick with it until you start moving around again.
It's appended to me also [emoji2955] and changing IPV6 to IPV4 in my Apn network provider seems to correct this switching....

Hi guys!
I have a strange problem with my One X. When my network is on 3G/HSDPA i have perfect internet. But when i'm at school, i have only G network. The problem is, when i'm on G network (full signal bars) i have no internet acces, no google talk acces, nothing!. As soon as my network jumps to 3G/HSDPA i have network access again!
I don't know what the problem is. But i guess you people can help me out!
Thank you very much!
Edit: I also tried to reboot, airplane mode, mobile data on/off. No go!
could be just because gprs is so slow and sucks so bad, that everything is just timing out?
try forcing the phone to use wcdma only when you're at school, then it might have just one bar signal, but that'll still be better than gprs.
i have to do that at work to be able to stream videos in the car park lol. otherwise it simply doesn't work.
Haha allright! Nsh it worked yesterday lol. Maybe something to do with sim card?

could be a network outage possibly (i work for a comms company, and we get notifications for o2, used to get orange and vodafone notifications as well for when the networks go down, or having maintenance, and they do have lots of problems)
could just be they're either doing maintenance or the local mast is having a problem with 2g.
if it worked fine before, i'd try calling the network provider first and reporting the issue, they may well advise new sim, but i doubt its the sim if the 3g is working and 2g isn't, sounds like a network issue.
I take it you've tried rebooting your phone?
I use mobile data almost everyday but I have some problem with 4G LTE. If my network type is set to 2G/3G/4G, I get 4G signal and it work for just a few minutes. After a few minutes, all signal disappear. I don't have any Internet connection, not even cellular signal for calls.
But if network type is set to 2G/3G, it works flawlessly with 3G connection. (although I face some problem with 3G sometimes, but that is another story).
So did anyone else face this problem too? I'm using U Mobile in Malaysia which uses the 2600Mhz band.

First step is to always check your APN settings. Make sure they are identical with that of your carrier for 4G LTE.
Does this issue occur in one location or various locations? Please test with WiFi disabled.
Also recommend using ASUS ZenUI app called ASUS Support. There are several helpful tips with basic troubleshooting techniques for your device including including 3G/LTE troubleshooting. Please go to Apps/ASUS Support/Assistance/3G-LTE-WIFI-GPS/Weak or disconnected 3G/LTE signal.

I already set APN settings to what it should be but still no luck. And nothing in the Asus support app is helping.
I noticed that it happens to me when I'm on the go or I have a few 4G cell tower around me. I suspect it's because of switching of cell towers.

Got the same problem. moreover, my wife has an iPhone 6+, we have the same carrier but when we go in not so well covered areas (up to the alps for example) she always has signal while my zenfone loses sim1 for data&voice. sim2 is available but gives only voice coverage btw. signal detection is far better on iPhone. I've tried with another carrier, same outcome.
It seems that sim1 only works with very strong signal from the carrier

Try disabling the second Sim and then using 4g on the Active Sim( 1st One ).
On my device, the second sim's signal seems to interfere with that of the first one.
I can use 4G on 1st Sim only when i disable the second sim.
3G works flawlessly tho.
I guess this is a problem with active dual sims??

Try going to the phones dial pad and enter --: *#*#4636#*#* then select the first option " phone information" and then scroll down till you see the option to choose which type of bands you get or use.
I.e. GSM /LTE auto prl or CDMA/LTE auto, or all of them if global. Just some advise. Also make sure your APNS are correct for your carrier.
I have unstable 4g network at home, so my phone refuses to use 4g connection and it choose 3g.
I know *#*#4636#*#* and choose lte only will do the thing and it works but several times later it switched back to 3g (H/H+) and when I check it back it turned to Lte/gsm (Pre) again so I think I have to find another way.
It frustating me, since I just have 4g quota besides 3g.

So, i'm in the UK with my nice shiny OP3 (on Three UK) - I am rooted with twrp, but same applies on stock.
The radio in this phone seems to prefer H+/3G to 4G, even though where i live, i have full bars on both. My nexus 5 always prefered 4G, and the OP3 is set to prefer 4G but 90% of the time drops to 3G/H+
Another interesting thing, if i use the testing menu to force LTE only, even if it's on 4G already, completely stops any signal getting through for a number of minutes until it decides to connect sometime later. I have full LTE signal in my room too.
Is this a radio problem that could be solved in the future with a software update? not seen anyone else with this issue!
FYI, when it is on 4G, it's super fast and stays connected until a reboot, where the whole process starts again

APN Is exactly the same as my nexus 5, and i even added a new one. Same deal.
I'm an IT Professional, just not a developer. i've done everything i can think of. 4G does work, but only when it wants to. My phone is also registered with my carrier correctly.
Bump on this anyone?
I am having a similar problem I guess. I have the dual sims installed and one sim randomly shows no range. Further, the network preference is not the way it is supposed to be - Chose it as 4G and if 4G is not detected it falls back to 2G.

Same as you. Anyone know how to fix the network priority to lock onto LTE first and then drop to 3G for calls?

I did notice when I do have LTE it's fine but it won't re lock onto LTE after a call on Three where it has to drop to H
I'm having a problem where the phone catches 4G+ "carrier aggregation" and it'll jump from to 4g+ to 4g and back to 4g+ really fast like almost flashing . And speed test are showing low numbers. T-Mobile USA.

Same here. Sometimes it just locked to 3g/h+ in a strong LTE area for no reason. I'm on stock oos with one sim and 1 apn. Sometimes I need to reboot the phone to get LTE back.

I first put my sim into slot 1 when I first got the device, I was having the exact same issue. I found that the data priority sim, or if you only have one sim needs to be in sim slot 2.

Yes exactly. And even then it doesn't show up straight away despite 3/4 and usually full signal. Sometimes just putting it into standby mode and leaving it 20mins can sort it... Until I get another call lol. Wondering if it's just a software or firmware issue that could be patched. Lte is fine it's just never preferred despite the options being set

APN is not the universal response. Here he faces a problem of inaccurate network type choice, APN is only to have acces to internet through the provider's proxies. It's a radio problem clearly, the baseband is probably to be corrected by OnePlus.
It's really a strange thing to see those network type issues, MMS issues are still present after all those years.

This is what I thought. It's probably an easy fix for oneplus or rom developers. Custom radios are nothing new. Let's hope so anyway!
This is happening to me as well. I'm on three in a strong 4G area but it always prefers 3G it's so annoying hope it gets fixed soon.

same problem here.
i tested op3 with 3 different carriers
on two of them - lte no problem, instant connect...
on third sim - slow connection, frequent out of range. almost no lte.
tested third sim on iphone - instant lte connect, no problem.
seems like a incompatibility with an selected cellular operators.

Could be but I'm doubting it. OP3 Has full support at least for my carrier on both bands they use (3 & 20).. Never know, the devs here will figure it out if oneplus don't

Same issue here, have never got it to say 'LTE' for me since I got the phone, best it does is 4G whilst my Galaxy S5 would happily pickup LTE. Just wondering what UK users have there preferred network type set to? Mine is on GSM/WCDMA/LTE I assume that is right as that is what it went to itself and have tried LTE or LTE/WCDMA too.

Sorry, i mean my OP3 shows LTE in statusbar but it runs with 2G speed
I like the WiFi calling feature, because at some locations (like inside large Walmarts) there is no cell signal, but there is WiFi. However, having WiFi calling enabled creates a problem for me at my home. The cell signal in my house is up and down all the time (from one bar to full bars) and when it drops to two bars WiFi calling kicks in. That's fine, unless I'm in the middle of a phone call when the cell signal goes back up, because when it does the phone (Galaxy Note 10+) tries to switch back to cellular signal and in consequence the phone call is dropped. In the phone app when I tap on the three dots in the top right corner I see the setting for WiFi calling, and when it is switched on it says "cellular signal preferred". If I turn it off, then I have no WiFi calling at all. Any suggestions for how to avoid the disconnects when the phone tries to hand over the call from WiFi to a cellular signal?
Who is your phone service provider? See if other people using the same service have similar problems, sometimes the provider's software is not up to the task. I use Mint(T-mo mvno) on my N10+ and the switches are seamless, can't even notice them.
I have been dealing with this issue for about a month. I have At&t. If my wifi calling is on I cannot receive MMS at all. As soon as I turn it off the picture message will come through.

Mystery solved
It is in fact a carrier issue. I'm on Telus a Canadian Network and if I pop in a SIM card from a different carrier and toggle on Wi-Fi calling it changes to prefer WiFi. I phoned Telus and they told me that prefer cellular signal is a deliberate choice on their part and that inserting their SIM card overrides the phone's default settings. I'm not happy with their answer but at least now I understand why I don't have the choice of selecting prefer WiFi.
