hi guys wonder does any one know off an app that can launch the home screen other than using the power button all the time i would prefer a long push on 1 off the soft keys if poss , any replies welcome
Some screenlockers (as example advanced lock if I remember right) do not lock home button, but I don't know if It's what you're looking for.
I use widgetlocker which allows to turn on the phone using volume buttons, way easier than power button (imho ).

with widget locker you can set t to use the volume keys. afaik until the screen is on the softkeys dont work - they are in theory part of the sceen
For stock, is it possible to use volume button to wake the screen up? I really dont like the soft power button. (or CUSTOM ROM is the only way to make this happen?)

I think widget locker will allow you to do this.

I installed Widget Locker but was unable to figure out the correct settings to enable volume button wake.
I got a Note 4 a few days ago (after owning a Note 2 and a Note 3) and for the most part I'm very happy with it. The one thing I don't care for on the Note 4 is that there is no Menu/Options button. (The button that used to be the Options button now brings up the list of recent apps.).
Does anyone know a way to reassign/remap the hardware buttons so I can make the left button a Settings button?
All ya have to do is LongPress the Menu button. Takes all of .8 seconds while still having the tap for recents. It grows on ya after a while.
You can use xposed additions.

You need to root and install Xposed Framework and the module Xposed Additons to acheive this. I remapped the left soft key to menu and in app search on long press and home to recent apps long press and google now double press.

I have the same question before I purchase a Note 4. So holding down the left button will bring up the menu? In my Galaxy Tab 4, it does not. Please clarify.

Thats correct. Holding it down will bring down the settings as if you hit the 3 dot action overflow. Just barely tapping it brings up recents.
hi all
does anyone kno of a way
to get all apps to multitask
muxh thx in advance
The most you can do is hold your recents button, and when it goes into windowed mode, press the home button. This will allow you to multi task any app (not just ones in your recents).
However if the app doesn't support it, then it just won't work.

You can't double tap power to open another app other than the default Google camera app. But you can set the double tap feature to open an app of your choice.
Setting/system/gestures/
that workaround will have to do for now, much appreciated
You can also map another double tap on the up volume button for example to launch an app using Button Mapper.
Button Mapper: Remap your keys - Apps on Google Play
Remap hardware buttons to launch any app, shortcut or action
play.google.com
Nothing to map soft keys though. I'm looking for 'double-tap' back button for notifications, like the OnePlus 8 Pro has.
