Galaxt S4 10.5 tab + Snapchap app round wrong way - Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Questions & Answers

I am new to owning my first Android tablet.
I have install Snapchat and configured it, and when I open the app the picture is in portrait mode and my picture within that looks as if I am lying on my side. The base of my picture is on the left and my head is on the right.
I can rotate the whole screen, but cannot find a way to get Snapchat to open in the correct landscape mode with me the right way up.
Any advice would be very welcome
Best regards Keith

Solved ? I think

with regards to my above post. Snapchat works as expected on the normal Android screen, but the above behaviour occurs immediately when using the Dex screen.

Detailed HTC Touch Pro2 review

Hi guys,
Here's a detailed review about the HTC Touch Pro2.
It's in Dutch, but even if you can't read it (or perhaps use Google Translator) you'll enjoy looking at the pics.
There are three demo videos showing the interface and multimedia, and the proof that the AC T110 TV out cable will work (the original Touch Pro cable).
Link to the review.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
heres the link for the englis translation via google
http://translate.google.com/transla...opic.php?t=80&f=9&sl=nl&tl=en&history_state0=
Thanks great review!
pretty good review. Handles almost 90% of the things I wan't to know about the phone
informative review...keep them coming!
hey, check out this video in case you want to see the sprint mogul vs the TP2:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5a7p20
1280x720 @ 60fps! make sure you can handle the playback!
now w/ Youtube HD link! (only 30fps though)

There is no info about the FM radio??? It seems missing in the TP2

Radio or not, man, I want this phone and I will go buy it if it's available tomorrow. So fast and smooth. Sounds great too! I can do without the radio.
2 questions....
1. In that review, it said it comes with ultra clear screen protector. do you really think it will come with one or will i have to buy one separately?
2. Question about the accelerometer. when you pull the keyboard out the screen switches to landscape mode. Do you think if you just turn the phone sideways that the screen will turn to landscape mode (with the keyboard closed)????

1. Yes for sure. All my HTC phones came with screen protectors.
2. No, you will need a tweak to switch the home screen to landscape mode by turning the phone. Some software will work by turning the phone but not the home screen.
That's stupid that they advertise it has a accelerometer since you have to open the keyboard to switch to landscape mode. i bought the htc tilt when it first came out for at&t and I'm pretty sure that it didn't come with a screen protector. You said all your htc phones did? Did you buy the tilt?

Huh? what do you mean? In what way would landscape mode be USEFUL with the keyboard not open? I don't understand. In the browser, with the keyboard closed, you should be able to rotate the phone and the screen will rotate...also with photos, and anything else you need to do in landscape...but a landscape switch for TouchFlo3D without the keyboard out is kinda pointless, no?
I don't mean to start a massive fight about it, but I don't want my phone rotating touch flo like crazy just because I am holding the phone a certain way. What if I am gesturing towards something with the TouchPro2 in my hand and when I bring my hand back, everything is all landscape and I have to wait for it to rotate back?
I don't think this is dumb, and I feel it can easily be fixed with just a software tweak. Shouldn't be hard at all...although I do not understand what you would need it for.

No...Your idea is more stupid. like NeoDMD said, I dont want my home screen rotating everytime I move. It is useful for certain applications but definitely not the home screen.!
hopefully the transition between home screen and landscape mode is very fast, hopefully no load time
so like some applications will take you into landscape mode even if you have the keyboard closed like it you played a video or went into camera mode right or even internet browser?

Nope. I don't have the TILT, but my P3600i and HD came with one. I know the TD2, Cruise and Cruise 2 also comes with one. So I presume most of them will. Maybe they didn't give it to you or it was stolen from your box
BTW, I saw the video on the TV-Out part and there was some flickering near the end of the movie where they were using coreplayer. Does anyone know what he is talking about and why it is flickering like mad?
Many thanks!

I believe the point would be to be able read it comfortably while holding it in landscape. Why would I need the keyboard open to use TF3d? And why wouldn't I want to use TF3D in landscape mode? I'm going to be reading, watching vids, and browsing in landscape mode. Do I have to rotate back to portrait every single time I go back into TF3D?

Isn't that still a problem for other apps? Like the browser etc. If you're willing to accept the problem there, what's so crazy about someone else being willing to risk it everywhere?

Honestly what'd I like more than accelerometer detection is the ability to fix everything in landscape (although I could stand the phone app being in portrait) permanently. Portrait is next to useless to me. I'm new to winmo, but do you think someone will/has tweak(ed) it that way? Or is there a control panel setting?
I am too a bit disappointed that the homescreen landscape choice isn't there from the factory (without the kb open)
How do we use this phone in the car in a holder while using it also as an GPS device. I would have to use a holder that can hold it kb out or then i'd need a rotating holder to flip it every time i go out of the GPS. Not a big pain, but still.
How about a button (on the screen) to make it flip to landscape (similar to the one that triggers the phone when the kb is open)

Use of front camera in HTC EVO

Hello Everybody,
I'm developing an android application which uses the front camera.
As the Android SDK doesn't supoprt it natively, I need to fint the register name which tells the system to use the front camera. Unfortunately, I do not know how this parameter is called. Does anyone can help me?
btw, As I do not have an HTC Evo If anybody can help me by testing my app on its HTC evo, it will helps me a lot.
Many thanks in advance,
Best regards.
ill test if you tell me what the app does/is for

All I could think of was some of the CraigsList replies I get that want my item shipped to Africa.
GL with your app, hope it's a fun one, not enough stuff uses the front camera yet.
Hi,
many thanks for your answer and your help.
My app is quite simple, it acts as a mirror by displaying the front camera in full screen (it crops left and right parts of the picture in order to maximise the picture surface.
My app is avaiblable in the android market under the name : MagicMirror-Lite
I get some feedbacks that my app does work on Evo devices.
Before adding other features (such as zoom and so on), I would like to get first quite a reliable app which works on most of terminals (which have a front camera of course).

I think the same, but as there is no explicit command in the android SDK which allows to use the front camera, I first need to get a reliable way to use front cams.

The Cyanogen team has the front facing commands figured out.
Also, these guys do too http://www.popcrowd.com/
Maybe one would be willing to share or you could take a peak at their code.
Hi everybody,
Many thanks for your inputs.
If I made everything right, my application should now work on Sprint devices.
I uploaded a new version of the application. So, if you can test it on yours, it will be very helpful for me.
Cheers!
It uses the main camera on the EVO not the front one like you want.
Sorry.
Image is also turned 90 degrees...
For the rotation this is normal as the rear camera is rotated to 90° compared to the front camera (in order to use the rear camera in landscape mode and the front camera in portrait mode).
Ok well it still uses the wrong camera.
Looks promsing though.
Many thanks,
and before adding more sexy-features (like pinch zoom, or picture grabbing...) I want first to make sure my app is compatible with most mobile devices.
(If you have features ideas, do not hesitate )
Cool.
I'll test it again once you see about using the front camera.
I think I found what was wrong,
in the manifest file, I added:
<uses-library android:name="com.sprint.hardware.twinCamDevice" android:required="false"/>
I hope that this will make the things goes right for Sprint users without generating bugs for non-Sprint users.
how about make a video chat app that works all the time

It works with the front camera now but you still need to rotate the image 90degress. I don't see why anyone would want a mirror that the reflection is sideways!
You're completely right, if picture is rotated, it is completely useless. ^^
What is that for the samsung Epic, picture owns the right orientation.
Futhermore, picture should be distorded on your Evo device?
Last question, I must rotate picture in clockwise or in counter-clockwise?
It works on my evo
You need to rotate image 90 degrees clockwise...no matter how I turned the phone the imageit displayed was turned facing 9 o'clock...
Keep working at it!
Swyped from an HTC Evo on MetroPCS...
Yep, me too. The top of my head points to the left no matter how I hold the camera. It 'IS' working with the front camera though.
I'm just beginning to test the front facing camera on my Evo too with some code. I 'think' I read that the Sprint library has to be included in the manifest (to enable the front camera); however, they say the app will not load on phones that don't have this library. that seems pretty severe. Anyone tested that out ?
It would be nice to make apps that use the front camera if possible but still use the regular cam if the front one's not available.
Hi rufus,
Yes the library must be loaded, but, as I mentioned above, you must add the :"android:required="false". So if the library exists, it will be loaded and if not, it doesn't mattre. But you need to add in your source a test to check if the library exists or not. It is explained in the sprint sdk.
Ok I'll add a test on my program add add a rotation if detected phoe is an HTC evo.
Is the ratio of the picture ok or not?
The ratio of the picture is good, but I assume once it's rotated 90 degrees, it wont' be. It's still rotated 90 counterclockwise...the top of my head is at the left.

CM7 / Gingerbread camera rotation issues?

Using CyanogenMod 7 on my Evo, when I take a picture in landscape mode, it doesn't automatically rotate. The picture is stored as if I took it in portrait mode. Therefore, if I send it to anybody, it is incorrectly rotated.
I have tried using the "Rotate Right" option when viewing the picture Gallery, and that fixes the display on the phone, but it doesn't seem to actually alter the picture. When I send it, it is still rotated 90 degrees too far to the left.
Is this just a bug in CM7? Anybody encounter this?

Agreed, on the '05 nightly I have not had the issue at all .. I am using the Savaged-Zen-Beta-CFS-HAVS-SBC-WiMAX Kernel though...
I am on 003 evo, original camera.
I just updated from Build #3 to #5, and the problem is gone! That was easy.

Camera Button to Volumebar

Is there any possebility? It drives me crazy when you try to take a picture of a friend and yourself!
I searched a whole lot, but this "Big Button Camera" App that is out there replaces the normal camera and its not free.
If there would be an App that lays the Shutter on volume Down or Up during camera mode, that would be great! I can zoom (if I need it) on screen...
what did HTC think?

For making pictures of yourself you can use the self-portrait function. The phone then sees your face in the frame and takes a picture. Works quite good.

Yep ... it's awesome.
Face recognition doesn't always work for me.
Another alternative is to set a delay on the photo. Gives you time to position the camera before the picture is taken. Not sure why HTC have only given two options - 2 secs and 10 secs - though...
Try this works very well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464&highlight=desire

[Q] Disabling the screen orienation from going to upsidedown-landscape.

Hi guys. Well here's the deal. I used to have the very app for this, but deleted it while ago so need to find it again. Basically, I want the screen orienation to change when I tilt the phone, but only to normal landscape. I do NOT want the phone to going into the upside down landscape because I NEVER use it that way and it sometimes switches to that side which delays me and such so it gets annoying. How can I prevent the phone from switching to the other side of landscape, but it be able to go into landscape? I tried Tasker, but that didn't work too well.
thanks for the help guys!
P.S. I am rooted and have CM7
its either in cm settings or spare parts.
I couldn't find it :/
Cyanogenmod settings, display, rotate 180
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about the opposite of land so 260?
LOL, basically when I enable auto-rotate, I only want the screen to switch to portrait and landscape. I don't want it to switch upside-down, or to the other side of landscape.
When you enable auto-rotate, the screen can rotate in 3 diff positions. I only want it to be able to switch into 2.

no its not on all versions of android at all. if you tilt your phone to the right it goes into landscape. mine did not do that on my g1 but does on my desire z. only if you tilt the phone to the left would it go landscape.
