Has anyone got experience of a Vodafone supplied Desire? Is the ROM different to the standard SIM free option, and is it locked to Vodafone?
I couldn't get any clear answers from my local Vodafone shop.
Phone will be unlocked as in you can use any SIM in it as all their phone these days are like that. You might get a splash screen or something, though, on turn on/shut down
Not even a splash screen, whoopeee
sorry, but no.
The phone may well be sim unlocked, but it wil be locked to the vodafone ROMs.
Your rom version will be 1.15.161.4
Of course, if you bought it from carphone warehouse or somewhere like that, then you probably got a sim free handset anyway, as vodafone don;t have them in stock yet...
Yea my Vodafone Desire arrived yesterday (typing from it now hehe). It will be locked to Vodafone Roms only. Keep meaning to check out the validity of the Desire root info on the net.
Hi All,
Anyone with a Vodafone Desire care to comment on the Vodafone ROM? Is it as bad as the Orange ROM some users have been complaining about? Are there any bad / good points with it? ( Apart from not being rooted and being able to install A2SD and so on, which i might do later ). I am getting my Vodafone Desire tomorrow, thanks.
I've been using the Vodafone rom for three weeks and there's no Vodafone customisation at all, not even a Voda logo, the build is 1.15.161.4.
I got my Desire straight from Vodafone online. Registered the phone on HTC's website and it happily accepted the serial number.

I too can confirm this. Ordered from Vodafone themselves the ROM is 1.15.161.4 and is Unlocked (SIM Free). No Vodafone customisation, logos at all.
I can't confirm the ROM locked to a Vodafone ROM though, but it runs very well!
I recently bought a T-mobile M8 which was imported from USA and had sim unlocked but i don't know other details except that its not rooted (that i checked with supersu). May be it was imported as scrap since it's an old model and may be it was unlocked from t-mobile, i just have no idea. Now the phone is asking me for a few updates which describe to tell me that these are intended to prepare phone for marshmallow update (currently it's on jellybean). Should i allow update to progress or not? i don't want to loose sim unlock.

Hi all. I have purchased a second hand 10 locked to Telstra and have tried everything humanly possible to get it to accept a Vodafone sim. It is currently running the 1.95.841.3 firmware (Telstra stock) and is driving me bat **** crazy.
I have even given in and paid Telstra $25 to unlock it. The only drama is when inserting the Vodafone sim upon rebooting it doesn't offer up the option to enter the sim unlock code.
I have sporadic connectivity with no data connection, and trouble registering on the Vodafone network.
I have unlocked the bootloader, it's s-off and I have successfully changed it to wwe and unlocked us variants, tried the latest viper and eventually resolved to flashing back to stock rom.
Every thing I have tried still has the same issue. Mobile data is disconnected because service is unavailable.
Do I have to flash a different radio, firmware or just give in and switch to Telstra?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Im with vodafone, but i do have a vodafone branded 10 im not running the vodafone firmware tho. Im on WWE and everything is fine. Can you try another sim?
I've tried two separate Vodafone Sims and both have exactly the same results
first of all i shoud state im over in the UK using SKY mobile(02 signal). So I picked up a used S9 last week and every thing seemed ok but i could not understand why is would not update from android 8 to 9. it turns out is a grey import sm960u USA phone and would not update unless the orig carrier sim was in and i was in the usa. i checked its imei and belived it to be on sprint SPR and downloaded the latest firmware and installed via odin. Now the phone will now not connect to my 4G, i have now found out that Sprint uses CMDA and not GSM that i require in UK .Stupidly i did not check which frimware version the phone was running before flashing it. Is there a USA firmware i can install which will get me back on 4g, maybe without carrier bloatware. i understand that i cannot flash it with sm960f firmware but maybe able to use sm960u1 firmware as this is the plain unlocked version
