Wonderfoo PX5 - How to turn off? - MTCD Android Head Units General

Hi,
New to this forum so apologies if this a regular discussion point ( i did search before posting)..
Bought a 2006 Mercedes CLS recently that has a Wonderfoo PX5 android head unit and for the life of me I cant find a way to either reboot it or turn it off completely. When I long press the volume button it says "shutting down", however i think it must just be going into a deep sleep state as when I turn it on again it is back exactly where i left it in under 1sec.
I know that it probably uses very little power in deep sleep state however I would like to know how to turn off plus the car came with a dodgy battery, which i replaced, which suggests perhaps something was draining it previously.
Thanks
Rory

Do you mean I should contact Wonderfoo?
I have checked in the factory settings section and the only thing I can see that is semi relevant is this...
"Default power status : off"
Is there any other setting I should be looking for?

Are there any apps you can install that will turn off the head unit without needing to root?

[Q] HTC Desire On/Off button doesn't work anymore...

Hi everyone,
I'm posting this thread because I'm heaving a problem with the On/Off switch of my phone... Since yesterday it doesn't work anymore, so when I push it down, nothing happens...
Yesterday, the power-controll menu (the one who appears when you push the swith down for a couple of seconds) appeared now and then, and my phone randomly switched on and off, so I'm thinking this may be a hardware issue...
My problem here is that I bought the phone in a store that's far away from where I live, so I can't just go and bring the phone for repair... But in the meantime I can't turn my phone on... The only way I can turn on the screen is when I connect it to a power source or when someone calls me.
I've searched the interwebs for software that may help me (something like a button remapper, so that I could use the central button for example as on and off switch) but that's only for rooted devices, and mine isn't...
Any propositions ?

I think his phone was on, so the problem was that he couldn't turn the screen on.

Well actually yes, the device was on but it turned off because of the battery... Luckily, I managed to restart the device by plugging it into the power source and remove/putting back the battery several times...
I noticed now that my battery is draining really fast, the phone can't hold a day of normal usage

[Q] disabling the turning on when charged

Is there an option to stop it turning itself on when the chargers pluged in and unpluged?
turn on to android or recovery?
the phone screen turns on when i plug and unplug the charger, would just like to disable this if possible
the phone is on, screen off.
and you plug it to charger and the screen is on?
if it is, go to:
menu-settings-applications-development.
see the box of the "stay awake"
yep that what im on about, but the box is unticked, and ticking it makes no difference?
hmm, you can try mark it, restart the phone, and unmark and restart.
done, but still the same?

That would stop the screen to turn off while charging, not prevent it from turning on. I think there is no way to stop this.
if he set a time out for the screen, the scree supposed to go off.
in this position, the next thing is the "stay awake".
when stay awake is marked, the screen stay on when he connected to charger.
if the stay awake is not marked, the screen need to proceed like he set in the time out.
which rom do you have?
if you have a custom one, you can ask the creator.
you can use the power button to close the screen manually.

standard original rom, 1.39.110.1
basically, when i put the phone from my pocket into my car dock thats hard wired, it turns the screen on. Simple solution press the power button to turn it off again, same when i remove the phone from the dock it turns the screen on, again the power button sorts it, but its a PITA !
never had this issue with previous HTCs, none being android tho?

fair comment , just reread your op and realised it's not the recovery whilst charging issue your having, but phone turning on when plugging in, yes?
yep, not doing no fancy flashing roms or rooting stuff just yet, just simple stuff like trying to get the phone to charge without it automatically waking up the screen
I'm having the same problem. I would like to try the battery calibration trick i found here but it requires me to charge my phone while turned off. But whenever i plug in the charger my DHD turns on and goes into CWM menu screen. Is there a fix for this?

You are having a different problem. He is taking about how the phone wakes up when it is on and you unplug it from the charger.
I have the same problem but not sure if its a problem or a feature.

[Q] Disabling the power switch during lockscreen.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum (obviously). So today I was robbed during my commute (I got my phone back). As we all know, the HTC One's battery is not easily removable, and installing a tracking service can help. Only problem is, the HTC One can be restarted, preventing any tracking software from tracking the phone's location. Disabling the HTC One's power button can be a solution to this problem. My questions are as follows: Is there a way to disable the power button, and if so how?
I apologize if this topic has been discussed before.

if you disable the power button you wont be able to wake the device. If your goal is to remove the power off and restart menu from long press power, this also wont stop anyone because you can power cycle the phone with power and volume held together.
I'm not trying to sell this app nor am i a dev but you could try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.t3hh4xx0r.nfcsecure
it does cost money after a few days, but there is also a free trial. it works with NFC and takes over the lock screen so no matter what they do they cant get around this unless they have you NFC chip.( unless you have root and have a custom recovery that allows you to wipe data/data/) you can get NFC tags all over the internet including ones for your key ring or even an implant for your skin (weird? i know)
Security and anti theft options
Hmm well that's bad news for me.
What are the best security and anti theft software to add to my phone? I have

Fautly power button - Repair or Alternative device recomendations

My OnePlus 3 appears to have developed an intermittent fault with the power button.
For the past week, I have found that a short press to the power button will not always turn the screen on or off as it should. A slightly longer press usually works, but it is difficult to avoid getting the power menu, or opening the camera instead. I am running the latest Lineage 15 nightly build (20181023). I tried rolling back to an older build but it made no difference.
Has anyone else seen a similar problem? How easy would it be to fix?
My insurance company has offered me a Samsung galaxy S7 edge or a Sony expera XZ as replacements instead of a repair. (They where not clear on the exact model or spec of either). Are either of these phones any good for rooting, alternative ROMs and the like?
Thanks.
Update to add: The power button has now stopped working completely. I guess this means that if the battery ever goes flat then I won't be able to turn the phone back on again without repairing it.
I also found an iFixit guide on how to replace the affected components and a vendor selling the parts. I guess this means that this is a fairly common problem.

I have the same problem. Seems very common.
Hello, adding some info for people whose power buttons have given upp and find this thread:
I've lived without a functioning power button my OP3 for over a year now and it barely bothers me anymore.
First off: To turn on the phone plug it in to a computer while pressing the volume down-button. You're now in recovery mode and can choose "reboot into fastboot" from the menu. When in fastboot, open terminal on the computer and run fastboot reboot (you can find guides for setting up adb/fastboot here on xda, just google)
There's one thing to note here, I think you have to have at a earlier point connected the phone and the computer and chosen "always trust this device" for you to be able to run the command. I'm also not sure if you need to have unlocked bootloader previously.
To lock the phone during daily use, I use nova launcher which has "screen lock" as an action, I've added it as a "swipe action" for the app drawer-icon.
But in general, just make sure the phone doesn't die, keep a power bank and maybe up the power-save setting to start at 20%. It's quite aggressive and with power save + flight mode my phone has survived over 24 hours on 10% battery.

What turns on a head unit ?

I have a 1 yr old LM px5 with boot issues.
I used to have on auto sleep but the damn thing would never wake up. Even pressing the on off button.
Now I have it on sleep after 1/2 or so which was a little better, and reverse cam worked if I have to re-start.
Once on it works and runs fine and has never turned itself off, so I dont suspect any lose power wires.
However I have briefly had issues with my canbus due to a faulty alarm unit. Since repaired but ever since steering controls have sometimes been erratic . That I can live with but its the not turning on thats the problem.
To me it seems like its (sometimes) not getting the 'turn on' command.
Can anyone advise please, because this unit 'should' work without canbus - yes ? If so how can I turn on without canbus, when its getting power.
It always turns off fine when I press the button but will never turn on just by the button. Even if car is running.
Answer: Whisper sweet nothings
Really ? ... ?
