Good afternoon boys, i got a htc 530 for repair.
Its problem its that the power button isnt working, what i feel is wrong is that somehow the volume down button is making the other one fail. reason being that you can turn on the device and get it to boot to recovery only pressing the vdown button.
I already teared it down and i dont see anything wrong, tho my knowledge on that matter isnt really that great, the only thing i saw was that around the battery connector was some like greenish powder, but the battery is working fine.

Someone tried to steal my phone while I was recording a video, when I got it back, the screen didn't turn on. The backlight works when I turn it on, when it boots in, the backlight turns off and the screen remains black and the buttons light up, pressing the power does nothing when its on (the buttons remain on).
Not sure if it can be fixed or if its just broken.
This happened to me a few times, just pull the battery, replace and reboot. If it boots into that screen off phase plug it into a power source, and if it still doesn't light up then leave it off for a few hours, could be an overheat. If all that fails then you may end up on the toilet giving Sprint a ring.

Could be a corrupted battery, you can try pulling the battery and plug the phone into the wall and try turning it on.
Hey,
Pull an Andy Sandburg and throw it on the ground! then take it to sprint and have TEP replace it lol
just kidding, yeah it sounds like a hardware issue of some sort, like they said try a different battery or see if pulling it and trying to boot makes a difference.
When booting hold volume down as well as the power button to see if you are able to boot into the bootloader.
If neither of those things work I would say its the screen or in internal component man and you will need to take it somewhere to get evaluated and fixed!
Good luck!
I hope I helped If I did please hit the thanks button!

I tried different batteries, and unfortunately it seems to do the same thing. I opened it up and I'm almost sure there was some sort of internal damage, but I have no idea what it was.
Its such a nice phone, I am gonna be so sad if it doesn't work. I'm putting it on the charger right now with a dead battery. I hope it works. If not, I have a very expensive HTC battery charger... :/
Its been broken for like a few months now, so I don't have much hope, but if it works then I'll be happy.
hey,
Yeah I have a broken htc and i use it to charge my batteries to, it works really well since you dont power it on but yeah,
I hope it works for you man. good luck

Hey there guys,
I was repairing an HTC One X for someone i know, (she dropped it and broke her glass) but since i got it (ofc) i tried to turn it on.
No succes. So hey, why not walk to the charger and plug it in? No charging light.
Opened up the phone and checked all the connectors. they were fine.
During an hour or two charging, i was googling, and some people reported that holding vol +&- and power button would revive it. no success.
I'm not replacing her glass untill i know this isnt a hardware problem
Please, share your knowledge
Greetings,
djpbx
UPDATE: Suddenly the hox's led started to blink, idk anymore what i tried and buttons and power combinations but lets leave it going. fingers crossed then.
UPDATE: No boot after the blinks (just faded away again), put another battery in it and boom, it booted. only nothing on-screen lol, lets replace that screen.
So for the past 2 weeks my epic 4g touch phone has been restarting itself on occasion and sometimes its really bad but lately it's gotten really really bad. The screen now just randomly turns on by itself and the power options window also randomly pops up by itself. (the window that says shut off/restart/other things like that) At first i thought it was the power button so i fiddled with it a bit but it hasnt changed. even if i'm holding the phone and my fingers and hand is nowhere near the power button the phone still does it. It can be laying on the table, and the screen will still turn on with the power options. Now, I'm under warranty so I might just bring my phone to sprint but the problem with that is im rooted and have a custom kernel installed. And I'd unroot and flash the stock gb27 kernel but i'm worried that during that process the phone will restart itself and i'll have a bricked phone or a phone stuck in a bootloop or god knows what else. Any suggestions? I've ran out of possible ideas that it could be. My batterys fine, the power button seems to be fine. So I have no idea at the moment
Nevermind. Turns out sprint allows you to bring them rooted devices and they'll fix it for you. Apparently all you get is a warning about what rooting does. So i'll just take it to sprint tomorrow it's easier
I've seen these exact same symptoms on phones with faulty power buttons which is most likely what you have. These phones are notorious for having faulty/failing power buttons. Good luck!
Hi everyone, I am looking to troubleshoot my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 which I believe has suffered from a Power IC malfunction. It has all the symptoms that relate to a broken power button, which of I already sent in for repair and that didn't seem to fix the problem. The guy installed a brand new power button and the problem still persists. Continued researching and it might be a broken Power IC chip.
The phone will power on for a second and display the Samsung logo, then shut off and reboot itself and sometimes be in a constant vibration cycle like it's trying to power on. Sometimes it just freezes on the Samsung logo and will not continue past that. Sometimes if I'm lucky, it will boot up like normal but once it gets to the T-Mobile splash screen, the screen will distort and then reboot itself where it will just go through either of the symptoms already mentioned. Weird thing is, I am still able to boot into recovery (takes a couple tries though) and download mode fine without any reboots or anything. I have tried flashing numerous stock firmwares/ROMs via download mode/recovery in hope maybe that'll correct something, but to no avail.
The problem happened shortly after I accidentally dropped my phone getting out of the car. The phone worked fine for a day and then one day while driving, the phone did something crazy and froze up, displayed the power menu, and then shut off by itself. Then after that is when all the problems happened. I took the phone apart and cleaned the power button. Rubbed the contacts with rubbing alcohol and even tried to get inside the power button with some. Took a can of air and sprayed the button until it was dry. I think that was my mistake because I think some alcohol got onto, or into the power IC located near the power button and fried something.
Looking for possible answers as to what could have caused this. The phone will not charge normally unless I boot into recovery/download mode. Plugging the phone in while powered off displays the charging icon with the grey battery and a circle in the middle but doesn't continue past that and reboots itself after a while. Tried a different battery as well and it's all the same symptoms which is why it's something internally.
On a side note, if anybody has experience with replacing the Power IC and would like to offer their service to me, we can arrange a price and continue from there. Please be a reputable member though. Thanks for reading. Hope to resolve this annoying issue.
If you are able to go into recovery mode, have you maybe considered flashing a new ROM?
Do you have some sort of custom recovery? If yes, maybe you could first back up all your stuff to an SD card (in case nothing helps bring the phone back to life).
Since your boot up logo shows up, but the ROM doesn't seem to start, to me it looks like your onboard flash memory might be the problem, not the power IC. The S4 is actually an awesome phone from a repairability standpoint.
Best of Luck! :good:
I will be starting to do power IC replacements in these phone in a couple weeks actually! I have a little cell repair business that i started a few months ago, but I have never done this specific repair. It isn't difficult, and as soon as I have a few successful attempts under my belt I will update you! Although, usually the phone won't boot at all if it has a bad power IC. I would do more research and see what can cause your specific problem. Feel free to message me or just reply on here with questions

Hi Deke. Sorry for not replying sooner. Kind of forgot about this thread after giving up on trying to fix it. But if you are willing to repair it in the future please let me know! I'll give you some business for your repair shop. Congrats on starting one too .
As for the phone not powering on at all if the problem was the power IC, that's what I thought at first too. But after getting a new power button installed and the problem still persisted, the power IC was the next option.
Sent from my 6045I using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Installed Viper Rom 5.0.2 running normally for around a month.
I plugged the phone as usual for charging in night at around 15% battery level.
In morning phone was dead.
Left it charging for a while but unable to switch it back on.
No led comes up while charging.
Did lot of research online and Tried all methods like pressing Power + Up or Power + Down or Power + Up + Down for a while for switching the phone on.
But no response from the phone
Also when I put in the micro-usb socket (when attached to charger or computer) while pressing power + volume up buttons the led flash orange for a second.
Connected with PC shows up as QHSUSB_BULK under device manager.
Please help in reviving my phone.
Thanks

How long is "a while"? Let it charge for several hours (overnight) and try another cable and charger, in case the first one is broken.
Then try to hold power+vol up (or power+vol up+vol down)for a minute or more.
The fact it flashed an LED at all is a good sign. A true brick usually has not LED response.
OoohhhI KNOW...
****...i hope i am doing this rite...
Anyway...what you do is so the volume up , power , and the return buttons all at one time...until it turns on....leave alone so it can reboot.
It should be good to go...
Seriously i found if you do this to any device acting unusual...even for
volume issues...check your devices cpu..if it runs hot a lot,
i found this to be related somehow in the htc..
Call me c r a zy
You have to do it longer...if you have no reply...dude this works ..
Or your phone is Effingham dead dude.....

Naa nothing worked...
led comes on (just for a second) when I keep pressing the power button and put in the cable to the phone.
Also I noted that when I plug in the cable a bit further than the exact slot of charging point led stays for 4-5 second then goes off.
very frustrating it has become...
HTC M8 Completely Dead
Finally I sent the M8 for hardware check and repair.
But unfortunately it was completely dead for no reason.
I left the hope and bought a new phone....
NO Solution at last...
HTC should help me out here...
There phone is completely dead... in just less than 2 years and that to with normal usage (without extreme usage)
I hope someone takes the message to htc for the problems the customers are facing from there devices..
They should just replace such devices with new one for satisfying the customers who had believed in there devices and paid premium amount for the same.
