Updated to the Dec 5th security patch on Verizon and using signal refresher and then turning on the Hotspot no longer works, looks like Verizon patched it. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Now I am wishing I rooted. Do not take the update if you are on Verizon with unlimited data and plan on using the Hotspot.
How did you install it? I can't find the ota file anywhere
EDIT: forgot I was in the pixel forum.
Yup, this sucks. I was hoping to enjoy my phone without rooting but I guess when 7.1.1 gets root I'll be going to the dark side.
Is SuperSU root broken on 7.1.1?
root works just fine on 7.1.1 i have native tethering working by doing the build prop text editor....
Same.
well..thats how i got it to work period.
unlimited verizon user here.
still on 7.1 though...unlocked bootloader and rooted.
I came to see about factory resetting then trying to update as i am unable to update as is now...
I wish I would have unlocked my bootloader before updating, should have waited to update. Hopefully there will be a solution in the future.
I am on a Note 8 and the last OTA Oreo update patched the hotspot hack via bk package disabler. I am doing the sim card trick right now for my hotspot and it's been working like a charm. It is critical for me to keep this... does anyone know if the current update being pushed now patches that as well? If so, can I disable the system update notification?
Thanks in advance
I've got an AT&T S9 and it's still got the February 1 security patch and says no updates are pending. AT&T's website indicates that the latest security patch they've released is July and that there was also a June update. https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tut...9?make=Samsung&model=SamsungG965U&gsi=uArWqmI
Is it possible the June update got pulled (and not removed from the AT&T website) and that for some reason the July update hasn't been released for my device yet? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I searched and couldn't find anything regarding this.
Thanks
Idk. I got an unlocked s9 on metro pcs. I didn't get an update since June patch. Used odin updated myself. Give it a try.
I just got the August first update today I'm also on AT&T using an S9 from AT&T

Thanks. Did either of you get the June update? I'm still on February and whenever I check no new update is available.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but I've got an update downloading now. Here's what I did...
Background and symptoms:
- I was what I believe was the original out of the box firmware (G960USQU1ARB7 - February 2018 security patch)
- When I would check for updates i would immediately get a message that no updates were available (like it wouldn't even check really)
- I tried doing a factory reset which didn't help
Resolution:
- Used FirmwareScience to find and download the next update (G960USQU1ARBI here is the direct link)
- Followed the instructions there to install the update (placed the update.zip file on SDCard, reboot to recovery, select update from zip)
- After the update, I went back into settings to see if the next update would download and it did...it's installing now.
Void Warranty

in download mode there is void warranty: 0x0 will it switch to 0x1? is that case working as OTA update I dont want to slow down my device, thank you
Am I the only one with this? It is saying "Your system is up to date" and "Security patch level: 5 October 2018".
Last successful check updates when I tap Check for update, I have been able to install two updates before without issues..
Any ideas?

That works, using the vpn method I was first offered the Nov. 1 update and after installing that the pie update.
Guess they have put the november update on hold for the netherlands due to the issues with the language setting.
December firmware updates are starting to roll out now with a couple for our device:
11.0.0 (RQ1A.201205.010, Dec 2020, AT&T)
11.0.0 (RQ1A.201205.011, Dec 2020, All carriers except AT&T and Verizon)
These updates can be found here as usual: Factory Images | Full OTA Images
I updated my device using the RQ1A.201205.010 image since my device's carrier is Cricket Wireless which is owned and operated by AT&T. This is should be an important note for anyone who has Cricket Wireless and this phone to use the AT&T specific firmware. After flashing via fastboot after removing the '-w' flag in the 'flash-all' script, I was able to re-root my device using the latest Magisk Canary build and after re-enabling all my modules including the Build Props module my device is successfully rooted and also passing all SafetyNet checks.
So far everything is running stable and nicely. I was using Proton Kernel on the device after I received it and previous to this update but for now I'm gonna let it run stock and see how it's overall performance is before possibly changing the kernel again. Just wanted to report my findings after applying this month's firmware update.
A few hiccups but installed and rooted here too. Still cant flash my vendor.img with a usb c to c cable. Theres a new fastbootd screen as well.
I used the Magisk Props config to spoof the Safetynet check and it stayed intact after the update flash.
