Hi All!,
I am a current OnePlus 3t user, and it's a great phone. I was looking to get a new phone for 2 main reasons:
The space on the OnePlus I have is limitted to 64 Gb, I am running out.
With the new Snapdragon 835 out, I thought I'd look for a phone with that if I were to upgrade.
So I thought I'd check out the OnePlus 5, however the price of it put me off. Having done some research, I really like the look of the Xiaomi Mi 6. However there are a few things that are still making me reconsider:
The reviews I have seen have commented the software is buggy. It crashes and stops working at times. The software on the OnePlus 3T just works. I've not had any problems. If I get the Mi6, will it be a case of buying a buggy phone?
Also with the software, I've never used MiUi, and personally I like the simplicity and near stock Android on the OnePlus. How big of a change is the MiUi and is it customisable?
Does the Mi6 have the ability to capture RAW images?
Thanks in advance! :good:
I migrated quickly to Xiaomi.EU ROM when I purchased Mi6, although I didn't have any problem with (fake) supplied ROM.
I've used my mom's 3T for quite a bit, and the stock Android feel of OxygenOS and frequent and fast update from OnePlus is the big... plus.
MIUI, on the other hand, has very bad notification handling. It feels like you're using Android 4.2/4.4 something. You can't swipe left/right on the lockscreen notifications to make them go away, nor you can't expand it nicely like in pure android (You can do it on notification shade however, using 2 fingers, but the experience just sucks). I tried floatify to emulate the notification in stock android, but it's not enough.
MIUI for Mi6 hasn't provided RAW capture capability AFAIK.
OnePlus 5 has released their kernel source, so dev can easily start working custom ROM on that. But Xiaomi has been notorious keeping the kernel source for a long time (about 6 months+ on previous flagship), that makes the non-MIUI based ROM harder to develop.
I'm currently trying to get LineageOS installed on my Mi6, I'll post more on that LineageOS thread maybe tomorrow evening or the day after.
There is always some plus and minus. I’ve been using Xiaomi 5 Pro and I’m very happy {:m034:}
I used to have One+1 and One+3. Both were great phones.
With perfect Quality/Price factor. Even with EU prices:-/
Now I had been waiting for One+5 and all-around I’m very disappointed wit it.
Reason?
USB 2, No OIS, Software AND Price for EU!!!
It’s not the Flagship killer anymore, it starts to be exclusive peace of equipment.
My main decision point (quality/price factor) dropped down rapidly.
I really prefer MIUI in comparison to Cyanogen (1+1) or OxygenOS (1+3).
With weekly Globe-Roms upgrade (http://mi-globe.com) I’m really satisfied. Mi 5 works very smooth.
OK., it’s with open boot loader and rooted, but all my phoned have been same way in the past
(and will be in future )
I do not remember what I used in the first case, but in 1+3, I changed it to Resurrection Remix ROM.
I agree that all Oneplus society forum support is great. Same with software developers.
I hope that here in MIUI world it will be the same soon.
Especially that after all comparisons of my own, I decided to order Mi 6, 6/128 one.
))
Without any doubt the mi6, and specially if you can buy it at 369USD in some aliexpress offers.
I just Got the Mi 6 pro. Fresh in my hand. It looks great, and feels excellent. It's running very smooth at the moment but hey, is brand new.
I have my 3t on hand.
I think most of the comments are correct. One plus updates quick esp of your on the beta stream, it's smooth and you don't have to deal with MIUI overlay - the OnePlus launcher is excellent.
The Mi 6 is very emotional - what the 3T has and the 5 does not.
Practically, get the 5....you know what to expect. The Mi6 feels great though.....!
I have to edit this: having had the phone for a week - the Mi6 is the smoothest, fastest phone in town right now, period, including the S8 Plus. It's very slick indeed, very, very quick, had an excellent camera and great Sound.
It's very difficult to put the Mi6 down and pick up any of the other phones.

It's gone. That was the 28 June sale on a couple of sellers. I bought mine then, still waiting for it to be posted...
On the same boat. I have been reading about the touchscreen delay problems, bluetooth connectivity and some other bugs and i am hesitant to do the leap of faith on mi6.
One plus 5 on the other hand has such community and gets so many updates that you are sure that software problems will be fixed as soon as possible.

If you find bugs on MI 6,you can tell the developers of Xiaomi to fix them.
I got both the op5 and Mi6, the op5 has an real deal-breaker with the "jelly screen" design flaw. As for now there is no fix and oneplus says its "natural". So the Mi6 is an better choice for me.

i recon that bluetooth bugs have existed with the launch and they are yet to get a 'fix'.
Updates for global seem non existant but on the other hand thats what you get for the mi series. Xiaomi is pretty great for international devices, mainly speaking about the redmi series. Rest seem to be left untouched(Mi mix, note 2, mi5 s etc).
I am gonna hold myself from buying this yet.
Hi guy's,
I love Stock Android and the current design (API and UI) of pixel smartphones - since Google has really done a lot of work with a lot of style in it.
My Generations: I came from HTC HD2 (Android, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7, Ubuntu Touch ect.)... next smartphone was the Galaxy S3 LTE (I flash the official Google Play Edition with a must for change the IMEI ect.), next was the HTC One M8 also converted to a GPE and my before last smarthphone was the Mi 4 LTE (with Windows Phone 10). Always the good alternative to the smartphone interested me. Now it interests me whether someone of you the bother and work dare to build this ROM (http://en.miui.com/thread-825694-1-1.html). The Nexus Experience: http://www.nxrom.us/mi5s.html
This seems to me to be somewhat too imprecise and has not the perfection that Project brings with it. Simply it is not a pureness Pixel/Nexus-feeling (the live wallpaper did not run, the Download Manager is missing, the setting menu is not 100% original etc. It lot is missing here and there) ...
I would like to help, because for me the build up of ROM's when it comes to the interface/UI and a bit around compiling the API, is an easiness for me (-
I would look forward to like-minded and teamwork. The whole thing should simply be a pleasure for the general public and be financed without money, even to learn about it :highfive:
I have a 5s with unlocked bootloader, installed Ressurection Remix 7.1.2 together with Nova Launcher (to enabled gestures) and Pixel camera port.
If you take away the amoled display og the Pixel, the Xiaomi 5s basically is a Pixel spec'ed phone for 1/3 of the price. If you want even more stock android feeling then go for LinageOS?

I really do not understand who would even buy Mi A1 which is in same price range as Mi 5s... Mi 5s have better hardware on first place, than even if you need stock rom, there is always LOS which is official for Mi 5s. I rest my case...
Guy's I mean the Pure Pixel Experience, everyone here who have a Stock Pixel with Oreo or Nougat in his hands? My friend have a Pixel, he work hard to get this phone but I do not agree to spend much money, only to own a Stock Clean Rom although it is cheaper. You can't compare the Nexus Experience Rom (I link in my last post above) and also LOS or any other ROM not with the original Pixel Rom. It must nevertheless be possible to build a Clone for the Mi 5s like the Mi 5 (see here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/rom-pure-nexus-t3578407).
I will ask the developer there, if he with help of me and other users from XDA to build a clean ROM. Still thank you for giving me suggestions, I really appreciate your time!
Have a nice day -cheers
I'm using opengapps to bring pixel launcher, assistant, and whatever google facility on it, but remember that none can clone pixel exactly the same. In case you won't get unlimited original sized photo backup, only real google pixel has it.
If you want pixel like experience you can flash LOS or whatever pure aosp then flash open gapps. You can adjust which to install or remove stock los apps using gapps config, go to opengapps wiki for it.
I mean the System UI and Settings don't look or have the same features egg., example the most AOSP Rom's for Mi 5s don't have Ambient Display Settings or Reading/Night Mode. Also the Google Live Wallpaper are not working and not included in the current GApps. The Rom's missing apps, for example the wallpaperpicker.apk ect.
Okay I must build my own Pixel Experience to get nearly a perfect Copy/Clone of an Pixel /XL. But yes, I will try my best to get a better Experience Rom and share my TWRP Backup here on XDA. Included Magisk and some Kernel Tweaks. The last Time I get a big battery drain with the current Nexus Experience Rom cauz I have enabled the Fingerprint Scan-Fix for Xiaomi Mi 5s (search on XDA for it). I find out that the 4 Cores working eveytime but with the current Miui 9 Rom on Idle, two of the four Cores from SD821 sleeping and the other 2 runs with 300-500 Mhz. That's a nice Kernel Management in Idle State and I tweak it
Is there someone who can port MIUI on this device?
Really that heavy skin instead of oxygen os . .
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
I personally hate the MIUI skin and the bloatware it adds with the ROM....
you might like it but OxygenOS is much more elegant
Ah the moment i'm on Liquid Remix 9 based on Oreo 8.1... It's a great rom but I don't like so much aosp based rom.... I prefer Miui or Samsung experience....
Up for this. Please make a MIUI rom.
+1, can sb port miui??

He bought a phone that is cheaper and developer friendly. The entire point of android is customization. He likes MIUI, you don't. Doesn't mean you are right or he is.
I wouldn't mind a MIUI port for it. Almost always running KLWP but just something with MIUI under the hood that feels more practical. OxygenOS, TouchWiz etc always leave me missing something. Then again, I been a MI phone user since MI2 so I might be biased
First of all my first phone is a Samsung S8 but I like customization and I can't customize a lot my S8 because I don't want to trip knox and loose warranty...
So I bought as second phone the 5t which is a great phone, quite cheaper and with a great community...
I use this phone for playing with customization...
Even if before this phone I had a Mi5 (which was a great phone) I didn't buy a new Xiaomi because I would have one phone with Amoled display...
That said, I simply would like to install other vendor ROM (like Miui, Samsung Experience or Emui) for playing with them..
I switched from iOS (ALWAYS JAILBROKEN) iPhone to Android Phone because of my intention to play and try theese Rom, but I would like to do this without having to buy from time to time different Android Phone...
And I thought that One plus 5t would have been a great phone even for trying vendor Rom...
For exemple: MIUI and Emui exist for One plus 3 or 3t... And Miui even for one plus 5...
So I simply would like that some of this Rom (or other vendor port) will arrive even for my 5t
I've been using pixel experience for a couple of months but i think lineage os is a little snappier so i decided to switch back but I can't find the official build for it anymore, the device is nowhere to be found in the supported device list. Is this the end?!!
Yes. Maybe they will move to redmi note 7/7 pro.
They sure dropped this phone fast, its not even a year old. And besides the RN4 is still supported but not the 5? WTF
And theres still no global RN7 version either so why the rush.
One reason could be that many developers of this phone got an upgrade to flagship level phones like Pocophone F1. I'm assuming the official Lineage OS developer was one of them, which may have affected the update intervals and features with time. Maybe that's why the Lineage OS team chose not to keep this phone on their list. (Unless if a developer invests their skills and time on this).
Also, Lineage OS also didn't stand out that much in this device's forum because of Custom ROMs like Pixel Experience, HAVOC, AOSIP, and OEM ROMs like Oxygen OS and Samsung Experience. These developers have contributed so much that Lineage OS was not really needed that much. (Please Thank these developers on the forums and donate, if you can. They really have worked hard on this)
I could be wrong but it must be related to either of these things.
???
Does anyone has the last official build? is not on the official page anymore
Hello guys
Sorry for the long question.
I am very confused these days, i sold Redmi Note 7 some days ago but now i don't understand that what device is perfect for me in my low budget. I have some devices in my mind:
1. Pocophone F1
2. Realme 3 Pro
3. OnePlus 5T
What i need:
I really like to install different roms on my deivce, occasionally gaming and most of the time watching movies etc.
Why i am not able to decide ?
1. Pocophone F1
Big notch taking over 70% of status bar. Heard / saw different threads claiming that the devices has touch screen / hardware issues.
2. Realme 3 Pro
Realme 5 Pro also available around the world but not in Pakistan. In Pakistan only option so far is Realme 3 Pro. Overall phone seems to be a good deal. But there is no Android development.
3. OnePlus 5T
This device is my most favorite device. Do you guys recommend me to buy 5T in 2019? and i also want to now, that is there any common hardware related issues to check for before buying?
Looking for response from you guys.
Plenty of ROM support and easy methodology to tamper, if you aren't a fan of OOS which is quite good anyway. Updates are still being released quite frequently through the beta.
Bought mine on release, coming up on 2 years ago now. Only complaints I have hardware wise:
-charging port can be finicky, but I need to clean it.
-camera is very average (but GCam mod with root + camera library dot fix performs very well)
I don't see myself getting a different phone for at LEAST another year and a bit. Take of that what you will.
I bought oneplus 5t 2 weeks a ago and i would say buy the damn phone you won't regret it, previously i was using samsung a50 but was not satisfied with the performance, oneplus 5t is blazing fast, go for it
Good phone but two things that suck
Vibration motor is horrible. It's so weak that I can't even hear it most of the time
Camera quality out of the box is just average
This two things didn't seem to be important to me in the past but you do notice the difference after using the phone for 2 years
In my opinion 5T is still beast but official beta support had dropped
Not that much custom ROMs available (many maintainers and developers switched to op6 or higher models)
Better try to buy op6or6T
Although open beta has been stripped for the 5t I'm still more than happy with my 5t. I even prefer OOS over the custom ROMs because it's really fast, stable and the gesture control kicks ass and is way better than that Google thing. Plus have in mind that OP already confirmed Android q. It may take a while but for now OP is still going strong with security patches. As long the battery is fine so am I.
Dear all,
I have removed some off topic posts from this thread. Please post with manners and contribute to the discussion. Thanks.

The Pocophone has larger battery and an IR scanner which is amazing for face recognition. But the screen is not good as 5T's.
Oxygen OS is probably the best out there. It is light and so fast and allows so many customizations. I bet you won't be bothered with custom ROMs!
Snapdragons 835 and 845 don't differ much either.
I'd go for the 5T if I found both at similar price.
