Hey guys. I have an Xperia Arc with Arconium ICS.
Now I'm considering to buy a Smart Watch because it looks really pretty.
Does somoeone here has one?
For now it's a little bit expensive here in Spain. So I'm also considering to wait for a while or search the internet for an cheaper way to buy (not stolen ones. I hate it).
What do you think about it?
Sorry for my english. I have not been praticing for a long time.
Btw, as I'm using a bluetooth headphones (nokia ones that I bought with my old nokia phone 3 years ago ) I am also worried about battery drain and compatibility troubles between the 2 bluetooth devices and my Arc.
i got the smartwatch 2 days ago and been using it with me Xperia Arc S. bbought it from expansys usa for 120$ which is the cheapest price online [=
i had and still have the original live view but gave up on it after 4 days of using it cuz it just didnt work right, kept disconnecting and wasnt quality at all.
pros:
LOVE IT! haha looks way better, stylish, NEVER had a disconnection, screen is great at sunlight and VERY EASY on the eyes when in the dark, all the apps i used worked great, has great battery life!! also ordered the white strap and have both black and white now [=
cons:
i like the veriaty that you can wake it up by pressing the power button, shaking it OR double tapping it but i wish you could have just tap it once and it would have wake up.
could have been better to have a micro usb connector for charging.
i wish that when i get an incoming call and i answer it through the watch it would automatically put the call on speaker phone (unless my bluetooth headset is connected)
i wish there was a notification light.
i wish it would have been possible to flash or mess with the firmware to make it more customizable.
I WISH SOMEONE WILL MAKE A GOOGLE MAPS APP FOR IT SO WHILE NAVIGATIONATION I COULD SEE MYSELF AND THE MAP ON THE WATCH OMGGGGG !!!!
overall i really like the watch and it looks really stylish and nice by itself.
Wow. Nice review.
THis idea of the maps is really great. I thought that the watch already had this app.
Probably I'll wait for a 2 months before buying it.
You solved my main question. So I can use bluetooth headset and also the watch.
Nice...

Here you go.
Love my watch by the way. New apps being developed slowly but there are some good ones already. One for changing sound profiles, a calculator, sending pre-defined text messages, phone signal and battery status, etc.

Can someone please upload the Vfinder APK so i/someone can try and modify it for use one other devices? PLEASE AND THANK YOU ><>>
smartwacht yeah, but is very spensive
Can anyone with a pebble smartwatch tell us what it can do when using it with the note 2.
I assume it can do the easy stuff like email, calendar, time, alarm and etc.. is there anthing else great that it can do.
I was thinking that the galaxy gear is going to be a bit of overkill and so might be better to get a pebble instead.
A few thing ofc that the gear have but....
1. Colour. Nice but not essential as no one is going to look at pictures/youtube on a small screen.
2. Camera. 2mp is nit very good. Also the position of the camera make it a bit rubbish for action unless you dont mind constant movement or lookign at the floor/ your face constantly.
3. 25 hours life. It probably means 10ish hoirs if you try to do anything with it.
Can anyone think of a killer reason for the gear to win over the pebble,?

Hi all,
Here is a video of me unboxing the Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3 which I received on the same day. http://youtu.be/0zLxA8hDQjA
I brought the two of them expecting there to be a clear winner for me (and sell the other). There was not and there still isn't. I prefer the backlit LCD screen of the 360, better blacks and viewing angles ect. But the Sony looks alot less conspicuous on my wrist. As I have dainty wrist this is a big issue for me. I love the wireless charger of the Moto and seeing as I have 4 other QI chargers at home, work and in the car I am not worried about running out of juice. I also like the Micro USB charging of the Sony as they can be found anywhere in the world, but it is a bit more fiddly to charge instead of just 'plonking' the watch down to charge.
The Sony has GPS and NFC built in as well as WIFI according to the white paper from Sony, although there is no use for it yet but I am sure there will be in the future. Although the Sony does not have a heart rate monitor. But my Samsung S5 does.
Long story short, I am keeping both. I will use the Sony for general day to day work but wear the Moto if going out. I will be changing the strap of the Moto as I hate the type of strap that comes with it. I will be fitting a stainless steel strap which will hopefully add a bit of weight as I found that both watches are allot lighter than I was expecting and prefer.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
thanks for the vid
have you had a chance to try out the GPS and blutooth music streaming(at the same time)?
for the sony that is

Hi Dave
I have tried both, but not at the same time. Have you heard that there is an issue with it. If you have and you would like me to test it let me know.
Cheers

I am not sure if you know are aware, but Moto has just released 18mm versions of the 360 (as opposed to the original 23mm). I too have small wrists for a guy and I am quite intrigued by the 18mm version.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but moto have just released 18mm BANDS not watches. The watches are the same size 18mm is the width of the band
SW3 was on my alternative list, however, that screen looks ... Less than vibrant.
Samsung betraid our confident and no longer support Gear vr and google Daydream. I dont know why is the reason for that but for me is a reason not to change my note 9 with note 10 +. So for enyone that apreciate and enjoy gear vr so far what is the solution?
Is there other vr headset that will work with any android device and note 10+. Any recomandations?

And I'd like to know the reason for them not offering same... It's simple creating a plastic adapter to make something fit or redesign new headgear for the phone... So what's the real reason? I can't think of why it would be any technology related issue... Maybe the sales of the VR headset and other gear was too low?

The oculus software will be missing from the note 10+. The note 10+ is a similar size to note 8+ note 9 so should fit in the gear vr headset. To make it work you'll need a custom kernel with the added drivers, slightly modded services.jar and the relevant apks added. It shouldn't be too complicated but will mean rooting the device and losing warranty

My guess is the sales of the Gear VR were not high enough to warrant developing a new headset to fit the Note 10/+, or the money it takes to develop the software.
VR sales of the actual more useful headsets have been fairly low, chances are they have just hit the point they have stopped seeing the value in releasing a new version due to low sales.
most firms are pulling back on VR. seems they are just going the way of the majority. unfortunately if you feel this is one of the most important features chances are you are just in an unlucky minority.
What I read is all the devs from Oculus have split and the contracts with Oculus have expired.
The market seems to be trending toward stand alone.
Hi ,
Need answer for this I love vr p0rn occassionally .
Thanks for letting me know if no solution this might seriously discourage getting one .
I wonder if the holepunch in the display would be the main culprit??

Guess we VR users will just have to retain our previous (or an earlier) device to dedicate to VR usage?? That's prob what I will do with my S8+

A man that asume that and is not ashame. Good for you. Me too. Vr porn will be too awesome on note 10 + with that resolution. Dont judge. Just answer if you can help. There are many headset on market that suport any android phone and note 10 + also. The question was what is better beside galaxy gear. Thanks samsung for that

will it not work with google cardboard thought most devices did.
The problem I'm seeing is that most cardboard-like devices are not physically big enough for the note 10+.... the 10+ is a tiny bit wider than the note 8 and a tiny bit longer than the note 9. Also, would the lenses cut off a good part of the display?

Considering most apps block off that section of the screen whether we want them to or not, I doubt that is why.

Yeah, but the real dilemma would be with the hardware (Gear VR Physical size and dimension of the distance between center-eyes and the display's dimensions as it sits in the gear VR)... Those 2 items are SET and therefore if an app cuts a portion of the screen away, it would jack up the whole experience - whether it chops off just the camera punch hole, or even if it cut away the same amount of screen from both sides... the physical dimensions are static and must remain so to give the VR Effect... Any change to display viewing area would completely destroy the equilibrium between right and left eyes, as they reference the same "pre-determined" areas of the viewing areas of display... If that makes sense?? I may have butchered it, but maybe someone else can help make it more reasonable sounding?? That is the main issue I believe though... They would need to create a whole new VR headset that distributes the bottom 95% of screen equally between right and left eye, and then would need an update to every VR App/Game to rewrite the code/graphic to work with such parameters....

You are basing this on the idea that every phone has had an equal bezel on the top and bottom.
Also the VR apps open in a container that can align the screen how they want. The Container determines the area of the screen visible for use. You arent just staring dead center at the screen. Its framed against the lenses.
The entire screen doesnt need to be split equally between each eye. Just the portion determined by the software container to be the usable area. You could cut off the top and be left with the same usable area as the note 9.
It can also sit offset slightly in the headset and still represent the same area of view so the lenses can create the three sixty view for the user
Maybe I am wrong but looks like all of you except 1 person missed the whole point. It is not about finding a fitting headset. It is irrelevant if you find one. Note 10 will NOT cooperate because it will be missing software to display content in a way that headset requires. The only solution will be to root the phone and load adequate drivers (assuming that some developers prepared such thing).
After reading further I found out that Samsung was using Oculus software to power the VR functions of their phones. Their contract with Oculus expired and now they have no way of enabling any kind of VR on their devices. Note 10 is the first phone to experience this.
Anyway, I am waiting for my Note 10 Plus to be delivered and I will be exploring all ways of turning it into VR device. If anyone knows other way than rooting, please post here.
VR for Mobile is dead. Both Samsung & Google is killing it off.

It works with my old Google Cardboard. No problem with the width at all. As for the length, the phone pokes out a bit since it's tall.
Tried it with... *cough* phub and it works even though it doesn't list the Note 10+. Only listed up to S10+ & Note 8.
I don't really get it. So does it work or not? The phone needs to enter "vr mode" to display the image correctly and without the proper drivers it probably should not be able to do that, right? So... how?
Found this thread through searching. I ended up using sitesinvr to set Cardboard to gearVR on the Note 10+, then I hacked off the four corners of the GearVR headset to get the phone to fit in. The controls sort of work. No GearVR app of course, but it works pretty well for almost everything else.
Do you think after rooting and editing the build.prop to those of a S10 and sideloading all necessary apps it would work?
Will probably need a custom kernel as well unless the driver's are already included but yes it should be possible

Dunno about the gear VR, but the main issue is the size of display and distance from the lenses.
The screen is too large, thus the distance between the 2 images on the display does not allow for a sharp/correct image seen thru the lenses unless you are able to have one eye looking right and one looking left
I tried to find a set accepting screens over 6.8" but did not find any.
Above explanation is correct. Screen is too big, you probably need another VR headset

That's IMHO a lot of WRONG! I read something similar on reddit and I think you did to and just recycling wrong information. I didn't on reddit, but let me debunk this theory here.
Have you ever unhinged your smartphone from the Gear VR while in use from the clip on top of the Phone which just holds it in place? That way the Phone is still connected via usb-c and everything is running. Did you see that Image displayed? Yeah it's WINDOWED! While in Gear VR you don't use the complete screen. So on the Note 10 + the screen size wouldn't even matter because the content that Gear VR has to display could be still at the perfect position because like I said it's windowed and you can move around a window on a big screen. And if a Note 9 fits in to the Gear VR a Note 10 + or at least the Note 10 would to!
I don't think even think there is a need for custom kernel... Gear VR is a bunch of apk's that's it.

ahhh... right they centered the port's on the Note 10... yeah but I bet you can somehow fix that by filing down something at the adapter.

Nope you assume wrong, never read Reddit or whatever. I tested several VR kits and it does not work. Did not try the official Samsung GearVR though.
Any other kit fails for the reason i gave. Previous Notes used to work fine with them but not Note10plus.

Yeah but I was talking about the Gear VR and besides why would I use any other VR headset? they all suck and you can't even use all the goodness that comes with Oculus and so on...
If you can get the phone to fit go for it. Note 10+ is to big
You wont see the framework officially released, Oculus or Facebook or whoever co-owns it now.
Stopped the deal with Samsung and they wanted to focus solely on PC and Headset and none of the mobile stuff.
So the deal was stopped i think it ended on the Series 8. But by the time it officially happened the Series 9 was released. so this will be the last OS with it on.
I dont know if Daydream will work (Googles Version of it) You just wont be able to use the Remote!
BUT who says you cannot use the Spen
I'd love to see an option, i used to enjoy watching films on the Gear VR while the misses was asleep, She couldnt moan the TV was to bright or the phone and no light was leaked!! Unsure if i can get it working the same way as my note 8 did
