N00B to SIII and rooting

Hi,
I am new to the rooting scene and have just got the SIII and was wondering is it better to flash a rooted rom or just rooting the device.
I have a rooted stock Rogers image and I have the toolkit v5.0
I have read about tripping the flash counter is that a big concern other than warranty issues?
Also if I flash the stock rom and than flash a custom rom will it still trip the flash counter?
Thanks.

Use odin in the development stickies to get back to stock. Then use the following procedure above to root and get the recovery.

Custom Recovery Without Tripping KNOX?

Quick question for anyone that may be more familiar than I am with the KNOX implementation in the Note 8.0 KitKat bootloader.
I know there are methods to root without tripping KNOX now but was wondering if booting a custom recovery (fastboot boot recovery.img) trips the flag or only actually flashing the recovery image. Also, would updating the boot or system partitions with an unsigned image trip the warranty flag even if rooting and booting a custom recovery didn't?
It's too late for me but if there is a way to install custom kernels and ROM's without tripping the KNOX warranty flag I'm sure there are others on these forums that would be interested.

Nevermind.
Since apparently Samsung devices can't boot a custom recovery without flashing it (no fastboot support) my previous question is irrelevant.

Can I unlock with stock NB4

Just swapped over to tmo today and picked up an S4 with NB4. I know it can be rooted, but can I unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery and roms? I know about tripping the KNOX counter, but I don't care about that.
Bootloader is not locked, so in other words yes
Sweet! Is there a guide to doing this?
EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't realize it was as easy as installing Rom Manager/CWM recovery.
Yup very easy

[Q] How do I install a custom recovery?

Now that the PingPong Root method is out, does installing a custom recovery still trip Knox? If it doesn't, how do I go about doing it? And does flashing custom ROMs trip Knox? Sorry for the dumb questions. Messing around with Samsung devices isn't really my speciality.
Installing any custom recovery will trip Knox, installing custom roms will trip Knox. You can not install a custom Rom without a custom recovery.. Also. once you root with Ping Pong you will not be able to get OTA updates..

[Q] Custom rom without tripping knox?

Used pingpong to root. Any way to install a new rom without tripping knox?
You can't install a custom Rom without installing a custom recovery. Once you install a custom recovery this will trip Knox. So, either leave it rooted with the stock rom or install TWRP and trip Knox and install a custom rom. Those are your options.
