Its really starting to annoy me!
Please help me with a soloution! This is really frustrating and never had this problem with my HTC Desire and wondering how things can get worse?
Thanks In Advance!!

Restart your router/accesspoint.
Cant change Netmask or DNS2
Hello,
Thank you so much for the solution but how do i change the Netmask or DSN2... When i go onto advanced settings there isnt a netmask option but Network prefix length and when i go to add the forward slash to the DNS2 it removes the Save option so cannot change the settings?
Thank again for your help!
Kind Regards
Zac
I was experiencing issues with apps being able to refresh/load content on Wifi when it would work ok on mobile data.
What I did to fix this on mine was under Settings > WiFi > Advanced
Change Best Wi-Fi Performance to ON
Even though my signal was ok before it was having issues, now it does not. I haven't noticed any huge battery differences (yet)
Thanks
When you say Restart your router/accesspoint do you mean unpluging it for 10 secs or more as i have tried that on many occasions but no luck... any other ideas? Thank you again
Thank you outofmyelement i have turned this on and already working but my battery life will tell if it is ok.. Hopefully there will be an update to fix this which will let my disable this option... Thanks Again!
Kind Regards
Zac

So just to double check when you say Ip from your router... do you mean the actuall router IP or the IP of the phone?
Thanks Again! Very grateful

Yeah. If you've already done it then no need to do it again. Some routers/accesspoints have buggy firmware which means DHCP doesn't hand out IP addresses properly if it has been on for a long period of time.

changing my router's channel width from 40mhz to 20mhz fixed my wifi issues.
Thank you all for solutions you suggested.
I know assigning a fixed IP for my One X on my router would solve the problem.
The problem is, I also connect to my work's router.
And dropouts/slowdowns still exist.
My home router is Cisco LinkSys WAG120N
Anyways, HTC are aware of this bug.
Hopefully a FOTA will release to solve miscellaneous bugs including
WiFi BUg
Battery life (misplaced apk file in stock-rom)
I know people starts having FOTA with software number: 1.27 to replace the 1.26 version.
Hope it rolls soon.
Thank you all again.

At home I solved the issue by switching the router security encription type from WPA/WPA2
to WEP. No more dropouts since but still leaves the question what we do when we need to connect to a network encrypted with WPA. It's ridiculous asking around "...Pease be so kind, could you reconfigure you router settings, I've got a buggy HTC One X and need to connect...":banghead:

I haven't noticed this but every time I lock my phone WiFi turns off is there any way to stop this happening I tried the advanced WiFi setting but none seem to work on my stock hox, also I used WiFi tethering when I first got my phone thru USB teather and WiFi teather it worked fine but last night my internet was down at home so I teathered it but with no success for some reason it did not work both USB and WiFi teather failed to connect and USB was not detected on pc strangely Bluetooth wifi teather worked fine any idea what's happening?

Have you tried the update 1.29?
I'm having issues connecting to WiFi on CM11. Most people say they fixed it by changing their router settings from WPA to WPA2 and I use WPA2 so I'd assume that it would work. Having no WiFi is causing me absurd Sprint bills each other and it's frustrating. Any ideas?

It's not my router so I don't have permissions to do that
I was having issues with WiFi while streaming Netflix, it would buffer every 3 minutes. It only happened when I flashed CM11 on my phone. I finally just tried a new Kernel. I used AOSP Bubba from our link here and it fixed it right up. Use a Kernel cleaning script first and then flash that and see if it fixes your issues like it did mine.
Hi all, I need some help with my VPN. I have TMobile and when I connect to VPN I can't load any pages. It works on all of my other devices except my OG pixel, and now my pixel 2 XL. It's only when I'm on my mobile network if I'm connected to WiFi everything works fine. I have searched and can't find anything.
It's kind of weird that this is only happening on my pixel devices?

I have a paid VPN on my Nexus 5X, running Android 8.0. It is set to autoconnect and it disconnects when I go on the cell network. Seems to stay connected on wifi 90%+ of the time without intervening. I've never messed with it when it disconnects when the cell network. But I just tried and the VPN turned on and websites didn't load. So it seems to be acting the same way. I'm on Fi, but connected through the Tmobile network. I also have Fi's Wi-Fi Assistant on, but I've never seen it connect to any wifi hostpot so I don't think it is coming into play. I also tried Opera VPN on the cell network and websites were also blocked using that.
I wonder if it is something to do with stock Google Android. I personally think Google messes around too much with things that are working fine.
So I guess all I've added is I am having the same thing happen on my stock Google Nexus 5X when using cell data.

What paid VPN do you use? After googling for hours I found some info but nothing that fixed my issue.
I host my own VPN on my unifi security gateway and and kept seeing that the default MTU and MMS is set to 1452 on the the unifi security gateway and needs to be set to 1500... Some people had this work for them, others not.
This sucks I was excited about this phone coming from my OG pixel XL mainly for this reason. I thought my old pixel was just messed up.

I use VPN Unlimited. It is on the cheap end of the scale, so may not be the most reliable or up to date app. Works for wifi connections though. I'm also not trying to access a protected network. Just getting around geographic restrictions when I travel and for when I use public wifi.

By no means a VPN power user, but I was trying to use the built-in VPN on my asus AC-68U. I have always used the PPTP and it worked flawlessly on my 6P over Sprint. Switched to the Pixel 2 XL and nadda. I tried to research as well to no avail. I simply switched to OpenVPN on the router and downloaded the app (Play Store: OpenVPN for Android). It has been working perfectly ever since. Even has a quick toggle button you can add. Just my $0.02.

Awesome thank you for the heads up. I was trying not to setup an openvpn server since my security gateway had an L2TP VPN server built in. But it looks like I'll be setting up a VM openVPN server tonight. Thank you wish me luck!
I will report back to let you guys know of that works or not. Still sucks that every device I have connected to my VPN worked except the one I use most! Pixel 2 FtW
OpenVPN server worked perfectly! Kinda sucks cause it's not tied into my Ubiquiti GUI but it works perfectly! So I'm happy thanks all.
I use Private Internet Access. It is a paid sub ($50+ on slickdeals for 2 years) they have an app and quick toggle as well. Works on all my Android devices and PC so far. Pretty happy with them. Claims of no logging either if that is something of importance to you.

Yeah I have a PIA account also from SD but I dont use it anymore. The main reason for the VPN for me was to access my home network from outside safely. But since I have my own VPN server setup now no need to go bacck and forth to PIA and openVPN.
I am going to be putting my openVPN to the test today and see if I can hold a connection all day long. So far im 3 hours in no drops or disconnects yet... Im loving it.

Right, nlua, I am also using PIA which is very cheap VPN on the list of best VPNs services. My biggest reason to use PIA is that torrent-friendly VPN with no logs and Unlimited bandwidth and VPN speed.
Hi, I have s9 exynos and I am using the phone with dual SIM installed and phone is not rooted. I use duckduckgo browser and I have run adb commands to prevent background wakelocks. And I use dns66.
Every 2 or 3 days after the phone is on, websites stop loading with error saying dnserror name not resolved. This error is there on all browsers including chrome and Firefox. Instagram doesn't work but LinkedIn works and whatsapp works. But when I restart the phone, everything works properly. It's strange and frustrating to restart the phone once every 2 to 3 days. I am unable to figure out what the problem is. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regds
DNS66 sounds like the problem...
Thanks. Will disable it and then see. But can you please give me an alternative for dns66 in terms of blocking all ads and a VPN. I will use that instead.

Thanks. Tried blockada as well. Page loading still does not happen. I now use duckduckgo as my browser and ads are filtered in this. So am living with this and not using any vpn service. Though it is strange that both dns66 and blockada are giving problems.
Hey guys,
Been using the Adguard app for a long long time and have a lifetime license. Used it on all my last devices, including the Pixel 2 XL.
I have never had a single problem. It always worked wonders.
Until now, on my P3XL it totally chokes my internet. Making loading times / refresh times literally minutes.
It makes Chrome (Beta) / Instagram / Twitter / or any other app that needs the net virtually unusable.
I am dumbstruck by this. I cannot figure out why this happens.
With Adguard off or using Blokada (but I really want to use AG) I experience none of these problems.
In the P3XL settings I already tried changing the 'Private VPN' settings to no avail.
My first question is, if anybody else is experiencing this. Or not.
And my second question is naturally, if someone has a solution or an idea of what could be going on.
Who is your provider? AdGuard has problems with T-Mobile and sounds like this is the case. I bet when on wifi you don't see this issue. I have not come across any solutions, probably best to email customer support since you have a lifetime license.

Thank you for your reply.
Im on Vodafone in the Netherlands.
The issue appears both on WIFI and Mobile Data.
I have posted my issues on the Adguard forums and finally someone is willing to help (if he can).
But I thought I would ask here too.
Maybe there are other users who also Adguard on this device. And may or may not have the same issue.
Just trying to get as much info at this point
I don't have an answer for you, but just chiming in that I use AdGuard also. No issues here. I'm running it pretty much stock (just install it, and go) with maybe the added filters for security, but I haven't changed any settings or change the VPN type. Have you modified settings, or are using it as is?
@Myrrhman Can you please link to your thread?

I have enabled some extra filters.
I have also enabled DNS in the settings. Using Adguards DNS and in that setting using DNS over TLS.

So whats it called ? Jinxed ? Or reversed jinxed ? ...
Ever since I posted here and in the Adguard forums, things are a bit better than a month ago. (But still not the way I was used to on my P2XL)
Also, connection seem a bit faster when on mobile data and not WIFI.
I'll admit, I am a bit confused now as to what is going on.
All I know is my device got one (Android security) update in the past month. But I am not too sue this made changes to my issues.
A little timeline:
1st of April I received my P3XL. One of the first things I always install is Adguard.
Internet got choked horribly (using the settings I always use). After a few days of tweaking and testing, I decided to switch to Blokada. All issues disappeared.
Around the 14th of April, i tried again. Internet got choked horribly again. But .. I disabled a system app named DNS in app settings (Adguard). This seemed to make things a lot better ... for a while
Soon all was back to truly unworkable. Back to Blokada. All issues disappeared.
2 days ago, re-installed Adguard. I want it to work !! I WANT to go back to how it was on P2XL. So also started a thread here (thinking it might be between the P3XL and Adguard) and continued also on the Adguard forums.
And now we are here, today.
With things finally looking up. But i have truly no idea why.
Anyways, I will keep on testing and probably also keep posting here. Because its still not all how it's supposed to be. I am just unsure on how to proceed from here.
And yes, I highly prefer Adguard's interface and features over Blokada. And also because I purchased a lifetime license in February of 2017.
(Phew, I'm usually not good at these write ups, but there you go )

This is really helpful. It shows its at least not a problem with Adguard in combination with our beautiful P3XL
Okay. Seems the issue is more present when on WIFI.
On mobile data, things are pretty fast.
I wish I had a better solution, but I had the same problems with adguard. I did the back and forth between adguard and blockada, but both had similar issues.
My best solution has been to set up Pi Hole on a Raspberry Pi 3+, but you could probably just use the Pi Zero (super cheap, but still not free).
The advantages are strong. The Pi does the heavy lifting, so there is no extreme strain on the battery. Pi Hole has great support through an amazing community--so you can get pretty surgical in your blocking. You can set up a VPN, so the Pi is handling DNS, even while you are off your home network.
I haven't given up on adguard or blockada, I think they are both decent products, but they aren't as effective as Pi Hole in my experience.

Thank you for your reply. I will keep it in mind.
I just cant let go of Adguard for some reason.
Right now the issues only occur when connected to Wifi. So I'm thinking its a setting in my router. i just have no clue what it could be.
I have changed the DNS several times, but always after a day or two, everything chokes up again. Well, i say everything, but its most notable in Chrome (Dev) and the Google app.
Whenever I use Blokada i have literally zero issues. And also when I'm on Adguard and using mobile data.
I am situated in the Netherlands. And a test someone over at the Adguard forums gave me, shows me when I'm on Wifi Adguard connects to London server. And when I'm on mobile data, Adguard connects to a Amsterdam server. Although that shouldn't matter much, they said.
Sigh. I just wish it would work like it did on my P2XL. Never had issues then. With the same router and settings.

Make sure your router isn't blocking UDP 443. Google uses that for their QUIC protocol. It will fail back to standard 443 but it will really slow you down waiting for the failover.

Thanks for your input !
So its more and more likely its either my router (Nighthawk R7000) or my provider (Ziggo)
Still doesn't explain why my P2XL never had problems.

You're welcome
I don't know what the cause is for you. I guess I'm just basically trying to let you know it could be something else that's the issue. Just cuz it's fine for me and I have it heavily configured.
I mean, theoretically, using Adguard SHOULD increase load times, however, not to the severity that you're describing - and not in such inconsistent quantities and intervals...
I'm wondering how Adguard distributes their server load as I imagine they have to be relatively spaced apart so that users further away don't experience extra latency routing through a server that's halfway around the planet...
But hey, that could be a potential cause - perhaps they shut down the server hosted in your region and so your load times are horrible now. This could at least explain why you didn't experience as much latency on your P2XL....
I had this issue before.
Turn off DNS filtering. I'm based in the UK and also disabled ipv6 as adguard won't work on 4g only WiFi
