I will write a simple review tomorrow. If anyone want test some apps or video or games, can post here
Yes, bought from China, Because Im in China
Sir, please do a small review of this phone, display, camera, battery life
Seems to have another cover than 7a, a real black one hmm
I'm interested in this phone. Torn between this and the oneplus one. I await ur review
Sent from my SGP512 using Tapatalk
What apps were on it when it arrived? What are the connectivity specifications?
OK folks... Going to reopen this thread for all Qhd related discussion. Thanks to @Entropy512 for his kind PM with the following information for consideration....
"While we do know that in terms of firmware compatibility, these devices SHOULD be able to support unified builds, and the specs are nearly identical - it would make sense to maintain at least one thread containing QHD-specific information as opposed to merging them into a combo thread."
Now, back to development!
Yay! A qhd only thread, so I have rooted my phone using the 7a method and also got twrp recovery working but went back to stock cuz I didn't wanna mess anything up
So here is my quick review of the Oppo Find 7 X9077 2K varient:
Design: Definitely a very well built, solid, and beautiful phone. It's not overly done, and it's a minimalist's wet dream. It's got a very timeless shape, no branding on the front (THANK GOD), and the carbon back on the black model is definitely textured in a way to provide some nice grip. The straight edges and sides of the phone make it easy to hang on to, and they also remind you that there's a lot of metal construction involved without rubbing it in your face the way the HTC One M8 does. The skyline notification light is SUPER DUPER SEXY! There were complaints that there were no other colors it lights in but blue, though, I'd argue that it definitely belongs in blue. The speaker location isn't my favorite, but they are fairly loud and satisfying. I'd give the overall design of this phone a solid 9 out of 10. It would be nice to see speaker placement on the bottom like the OnePlus One or (dare I say) the front of the phone in the future
Screen: The screen is definitely beautiful. I was impressed with the high contrast and the deep blacks despite an LCD panel. The colors are vibrant enough, but they are definitely washed out when comparing them to a SuperAmoled display like on the GS5, an IPS panel like the Sony Z2, or even the Super LCD on the HTC One. The auto brightness is a bummer because it's still too dark when applied....this is one of my pet peeves with certain phones' auto brightness filtering. Overall, I'd give the screen an 8.5 out of 10 in terms of overall quality, contrast, and color.
Performance: The phone never lags. The speedy SD 801 along with a much needed 3GB of RAM help it to be as snappy as should be expected. I've experienced no lag thus far, and I've been pleasantly surprised. Not much else to say here. I'd give performance a 9 out of 10...we'll get to 10 when Cyanogenmod is available on this bad boy!
Battery: The battery seems to be just okay in my book. I've set the radio to only look for WCDMA in order to avoid constant searching of network bands, and I use auto-brightness...that being said, I'm finding myself looking for a charger before the end of the day with very moderate usage. If the screen is on for longer than 10 minutes, you will experience some heat from the battery. It's not completely abnormal, nor is it something too concerning. It is definitely noticeable, however, and it may be something that can help improve battery life when fixed. I'd give the battery life a generous 7 out of 10 for obvious reasons, though, it can creep up to an 8-8.5 once the heating issue is fixed.
Camera: The camera on this phone is still quite raw to me. Don't get me wrong, it's still light-years ahead of the HTC One M8 or Nexus 5, but it falls short of the GS5 and comes very close to the Sony Z2. As a matter of fact, I'd say that the camera reminds me most of the Z2 in that it promises to deliver a lot, has the hardware to follow through, but just comes up short for one reason or another. The photos can still be a little loud and grainy, especially in lower lighting. The HD and HDR features are almost useless, though, I still have to do more testing outdoors to confirm. All in all, it's definitely not close to the worst camera I've seen on a flagship...and it's not too far from being a great camera. Maybe we'll have to wait to see what software changes can do to improve it. For my money, the Nokia 1520 still sports the best camera I've seen on a smartphone to date. Overall, I'd give the camera here a 7 out of 10.
OS: Well, what can I say? Color OS is bland, bloated, and just so boring. There were a million things that had to be disabled, a million things that still cannot be, and a lot of workarounds to get certain Google services to work. I also had to completely re-work my contacts in order for the caller ID to function properly because even if you have a number stored with the country code, the caller ID will not recognize it unless it is deleted to match the incoming number identically. Example: If you have a number that is calling you that's 800-123-4567, but you have that person stored in your contacts as 1-800-123-4567, the caller ID will only show the number with NO NAME. Once you go into the contact and delete the 1, problem solved...try doing it over 400 times though, and it gets irritating. If you're a Hangouts user, you need to completely disable the stock messaging app if you intend on getting notifications on Hangouts. Without disabling, even though you've turned on Hangouts as default SMS, you won't get notifications. I'd give the OS a 5.5 out of 10. It works, it doesn't crash, but it still has its ugliness and its kinks to work out.
Overall: I like the phone A LOT. I feel like it's the perfect size, shape, weight, and build for me. It looks professional, low-key (stealthy), and feels absolutely awesome in the hand! It has a beautiful screen and LOTS of power under the hood. Some of the other features such as the camera, battery, etc were very minimal disappointments. Luckily, those are not the things that I look towards when judging a phone. I would give the Oppo Find 7 a 8.5 out of 10 in its current state, and I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10 when Cyanogenmod becomes available!

You said you connect to WCDMA??? I also bought this x9077 chinese version but I can not connect to 3g with China Unicom carrier, they never gave me the chance in the Oppo online-shop to choose the China Unicom version, I thought they were going to send me the x9076.
I can just sense Unicom 2g and I always stay betwin Edge (E) and (G) without the 3G icon in the phone display. I'm also using a Sim card adaptor from nano sim to micro sim, but I don't think it's related with my issue.
This is really bad for me I think. Is there any solution without changing the phone to x9076? Because I will use it in Europe in the future, so...
Thanks for your replies.

Not sure if there are hardware differences with the china mobile one but most of the info you are looking for is in the oppo forum here:
http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/f...ency-bands-comparison-between-find-7’s.11921/
You may be lucky and can flash a rom to enable the features you require.
Thanks also for that excellent review above Vipermuscle83...also, it may be worth mentioning that flashing other roms and rooting the handset will not affect your warranty. Win.

I already checked this forum, but the guy author of the post mentiones something about WCDMA, which means that is international version x9076 and not x9077.
If he can really use his phone properly with his carrier he has China Mobile I supose, and that means that this telephone doesn't work properly out of China.
We should clarify that all people we have Unicom we can not use this phone with the right 3g bands yet here in China.
I don't know what to do now. I will go to Unicom and explain the situation and ask them if they can talk with Oppo to change it for the x9076 version once its avialable.
From what we know about the find7 they locked a bunch of bands in the modem driver because of legal reasons.
Flashing an compatible but unlocked modem will open those bands for you.

I can confirm 100% that my model is the X9077. I can confirm in using it on At&t in the United States on WCDMA only, and I can confirm that liaow.com had opened the box and applied Google play store and could have tinkered with something else. No doubt it's the X9077. Screenshot is attached.
so does the 2k version also have the same 3gb apps storage limitation?

Yes it does on mine, and I'm starting to get heating issues when playing high end games on the upper back of the phone
X9077 seems to be working on 4G bands here in Oz. Though having trouble putting CWM on it, haven't tried TWRP because it said it wasn't for any phone with larger than 1080P screensize.
Hi friends.
I currently own a Nexus 4 and I have loved this device for a REALLY long time. However, now I think its time to upgrade. My upgrade is due to the following 4 reasons ONLY.
1) Screen Size. I want a bigger screen size than my N4
2) Available Memory. 16 GB. Every now and then its full. Cant expand. I take lotsa pictures and videos.
3) Camera. MAJOR REASON. Oh I hate my phone whenever I open the camera app. The camera itself is just plain pathetic. It just cant focus AT ALL. The pictures are 95% of the times blur. No my hands are not shaky. But this phone requires your hands to be trained on a snipper perhaps. And the pics are always dull, without life.
4) Battery. Need to charge it quite a lot. Although I am not a heavy user at all. But KitKat has ruined the phone. Moreover, I do NOT play games at all and never use data. If it had a removable battery, I would have easily charged the extra battery and use it on the go.
Earlier I was thinking abt LG G Pro but now I am thinking of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo. So picking SGN3Neo for the following reasons:
1) First and foremost, Price. It has dramatically slashed. It now costs $380, unlocked.
2) Camera. I dont know but have read in the reviews that it's not on par with S4, however it miles better than N4. I mostly CROP images and stuff, so it is good for cropping? How's video/pics in night? Blur? or Clear?
3) Battery. Again, tech site and customers reviews say it is awesome. And ya, its removable. Lets say if it fails in a couple of year, i can easily buy one and replace it.
4) It's got a micro SD card slot upto 64 Gig. So memory shouldn't be a problem.
5) I think 720p should be fine, considering it has AMOLED display.
6) OTG, for even more space.
Prices of other phones in my country.
LG G2: $440
LG G Pro: $280
Galaxy S4: $450
OnePlus One: *ock Teaser (not interested)
As you can see, almost all these phones are priced quite above Neo 3, so I am toooo inclined towards the Neo as it has decent specs. Moreover, I don't much care about Android updates. But still would want to know, have you guys gotten KITKAT? As MANYY users are reporting firmware issues and other day-to-day issues with the phone. Like: phones shows full signals, regardless sim is inserted or not. Or, screen flickering issues. etc
I would request you guys to let me know how the camera is. The camera is very important for me, so please tel me your experiences. And is there any other flaw you guys found with the Neo 3 that you suggest me not opting for it?
And ya does ti lag badly? Say like S3? (The only reason I have hated samsung phones is, LAG. Please tell me does it lag after a while?
, once the phone is filled with lotsa apps and media?
TL;DR... Want to upgrade from N4 to SGN3 Neo. Please suggest.
1. Got mine for around $360 unlocked, great value.
2. The camera is great. Video is superb. Low-light is excellent too. Having a little difficulty focusing on a macro scale though, well it's same for most devices too. The front camera is good as well, even for a 2MP.
3. Battery. 74HR Endurance Rating on GSMArena. Excellent!
4. Yep!
5. 720P S-Amoled. What looks bad on paper, actually looks great, in my opinion. I don't notice much difference having used a N3 before. Lower res = better battery life. S-Amoled means excellent viewing angles, deep blacks and good saturation!
6. OTG. Expansion much?
go for it. You have your concerns covered.

Thank you bro.
By the way, Samsung has just launched Neo 3 with Snapdragon 800 CPU and a subsequent GPU. Currently available in Korea only. I am sure it will make it to other countries too. Do you think I should wait a little longer and grab that one? It's available in Korea since Mar 3rd, however, I couldn't find even its model number on internet, so that I may ask the store here in my city to get one. Plus, its not even mentioned on eBay or Amazon :s

They will. I mean all these phones, regarldless of their region of release, make it to almost everywhere. But I was wondering, is QS 800 THAT good than the Exynos Hexacore that I should wait?
If there is a difference of lets say, 20% even, I am pretty much OK with it.

The Hexa Neo is a workhorse. The Snapdragon might/might not reach you. If it does, just pray it's bands would be supported. Also, the firmware might be least updated, and compatibility issues with the roms/tweaks/root that might be available.
It's your call though. :fingers-crossed:

I own a N3Neo and came from a Nexus 4. Pretty much everything you mentioned is a pro for the N3N3o against the Nexus 4. I love having access to a SD card again since I can load it up with music (I don't use the cloud since I listen to music on my commute to work and there are dead spots for cell service for me). Regarding the display, 720p o a 5.5 is perfectly fine.

I own the Hong Kong version and I haven't had many problems with the phone. The stock 4.3 firmware is excellent. The only major issue I have is sometimes the radio doesn't pick up a signal when I go from a dead zone to a non-dead zone - turning on airplane mode and then off fixes it. Not a major annoyance.

Almost no issues with lag and I've been using the phone since mid-April of this year. The hexacore Exynos+Mali T624 seems to keep the phone moving at a good clip. I have read some people have had issue with lag, but my HK region version has been great.

Try it out! I have to say it's one of the best sub-$400 phones on the market right now - great price/performance ratio and you get all the Note 3 goodies in a cheaper package.

Camera seems pretty decent better than the N4. This is my first samsung phone so sometimes I notice when I take a picture, move the phone when it's "processing" the image, the saved image is not what I took, but during mid-motion. Odd.

Haha, yea, after posting and seeing your signature, I was like "ohhh, the person already bought the Neo." haha. I'm really loving the phone even though sometimes I feel like it's a tad too big and also I wish it had LTE support in the US.
@hakz - Turning smart stabilization off worked! I don't see the "processing" status bar anymore after taking a pic.

Oh I can't tell you how much I am loving this BIG screen. It's like I just bought myself an aeroplane haha. And that S-pen! Gosh it's a KILLER. No doubt the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is an amazing amazinggg experience. Moreover, I don't understand the hate people have against TouchWiz. Coming from a Nexus, I know how it feels. You go crazy and jump around, when you get an android update and in real life usage, what you get IS, a new interface of the dialer, which apparently is a knock of of Windows UI. Nexus, always left me with desires... the desires of MOST simplest things which Google doesn't care much about.
BDW I am still getting those blurry images even after disabling the Image Stabilization. One of the biggest problems with Nexus Camera (apart from insanely pathetic cam quality) was, I had to keep my hands ROCK and STEADY to take a clear pic... else pictures used to come out blurry. I am seeing this somewhat in this phone too. Samsung has the best cameras in cell phones since ages. Wasn't expecting this. What's your firmware? Let me compare with mine.

I don't really have a problem with TW really in normal usage - I keep things simple on my phone. Three home screens, a few widgets and the quick toggles when you drop down the notification shade has everything I need quick access too. The button that brings you to more toggles I rarely use. I feel like keeping it simple helps when "migrating" from stock Android to Touchwiz - just don't bother with all the extra doohickies Samsung bundles. My only gripe is the unnecessary complexity of Settings, but thankfully there is a search bar to quickly search for setting that's buried somewhere.
On the Neo, TW barely lags if any which is really odd since playing around with the US version of the Note 3, GS4 and GS5 I noticed lag in touchwiz on demo models in stores (maybe cuz they're on for so long and people play around with them?). But, even so, on my Neo, a whole day of using it, no lag.

The "blurriness" I was talking about was when smart stabilization is on and I quickly move the phone while the phone is processing the image the resulting picture is not what I took, but mid-motion. I just tried out taking some photos with smart stabilization on and off and the photos are noticeably blurry with the setting off. I'd say keep the stabilization on, take a picture with somewhat steady hands and then wait for the phone to finish processing the image to get best results.
Regarding firmware I am on N7505ZHUAND2 which is the latest firmware for the Hong Kong version - that's the region phone I was shipped.

Yeah I have some.
1. Any features or specs you miss coming from the S7e? Main thing I think I'll miss are the screen clarity and shape.
2. What Data speeds are you getting? Seems like the US version is limited on ATT.
Thanks a bunch hope you like it and that battery life.

Not him, but for the speeds on ATT, it seems to work fine, iirc i think i was able to get 19 mbps on this phone before i lost data. I also live in a not so populated city though, so it would probably be faster in a major city.

Not bad, I actually found a thread about the unlocked US version having more LTE bands than listed on the websites so it seems like it's all good for full compatibility.

Honestly I don't miss because I can switch back and forth if I like but I can't really compare both because they are two completely different devices the moto play is basically a mid end as for s7e is a high end.
But what I like about this phone is the battery life is fantastic so far better than what my s7e was getting and I'm sure it's because it's not a qhd display. I also bought this device because of the motor mods and can't wait to get my hands on some. I also like the feel of the phone it actually feels solid and feels like something is in my hands the s7e was pretty light and thin. Also the camera on this device isn't bad at all way better than my moto x pure.
And about the speeds well I can say I haven't been getting LTE in some areas I should as I was with my s7e maybe it'll be fixed with an update I'ma guess?

I've always been rooting all the smartphones i've owned so far, for bloatware, battery and speed improvements, but the Moto Z Play's battery is already awesome and it's almost stock Android (apart for one or another Motorola software that comes with it), thus I'm almost giving up the root.
Apart from the customization that you get with rooting, what's the benefit you expect rooting this phone? I couldn't find a reason yet =)

Ad blocking and ability to add and remove system apps. I dont use google services, so I like to remove google apps if im using stock. Especially since google services is notorious for using a lot of battery for seemingly nothing. A word of warning if you do choose to root, I would wait because some people (including myself) have had issues with having no data after rooting.

That's pretty interest! I've removed the carrier and manufacturer bloatware before, but never Google services, I'll look further into their battery usage and eventually also remove whatever Google service I won't miss or download replacements.

Yes I have some questions please. (I have a Pure too)
1) Do you think we will have the same problems of no tempered glass availability (at least ones that work properly).
2) Does it have a 2.5D curved display like the pure?
3) What is the difference in the overall feel of the device compared to the pure?
4) Performance wise have you noticed any issues with the Snapdragon 625?

I can only speak to the performance of the 625... It's awesome. I have a difficult time getting this phone to lag. I can if I'm truly trying to. But in normal use it never ever bogs down

I found several tempered glass screen protectors on Amazon and ordered a set to test...I will let you know how that goes when I get them tomorrow.
The screen edge does have a slight curve to it...not sure if its 2.5 D...but there is definitely a taper.
Do not own the Pure...so cannot answer to that
Performance wise...I see zero lag and the device has not seemed to struggle or heat up under moderate to heavy usage.
No root adblocking. This is the first phone I haven't had a desire to root. I'm amazed.

I would wait until we have a new version of TWRP and not the chinese version, and yes I would wait until we have a more official method. 1) Having both phones, I just ordered a glass screen protector and will report back if it fits correctly.
2) It does have a very subtle curve near the edge, but its not nearly as much as the Moto X pure had, its actually kinda hard to notice and if you werent looking for it you would think the glass was completely flat.
3) If you mean feel as in how it feels in the hand, it feels slightly higher quality, about the same weight but maybe a bit lighter somehow, a nicer screen despite being lower resolution (you wont notice pixels at all unless you look very VERY hard), about the same hight, width, and thinkness (except this phone is flat and doesnt have the curve on the back to make it feel thinner), speaker quality is good, but only a bit quieter and not stereo, the camera is better and can actually record in 1080p at 120 fps with modifications. You also probably wont notice the slightly smaller screen size (atleast I dont) from 5.7 in to 5.5 in.
4)For performance, I dont notice a difference at all, the moto x pure did everything I wanted it to do without lagging, and this phone does everything as well without lagging. I dont play games though so it might be different in terms of gpu performance but I wouldnt assume by very much. The only performance difference I noticed is that this phone supports 4k playback in certian formats where as the moto x pure did not and turned the video into a slide show.
Edit: I just got my tempered glass screen protector and it does NOT cover the entire glass. It covers about 90% and leaves exposed the area between the flash and camera and along the edges. The area around the edges can be covered by a case though if you use one.

Me either! I've been listening wonders about the battery and the performance of this almost stock phone (mine's still on it's way) and I've been having a hard time trying to understand why to root this device. Either way, without root if the battery already takes two days to discharge, imagine in a rooted device with only what you allow to run in it!

Thanks for the detailed answer. Covering 90% of the screen is fine bu me as long as it doesn't Halo at the sides like my Pure did. One of the main gripes I had with my pure was the lack of support for good accessories.
I live in la... work in production and use my navigation constantly. This is killing me
The GPS doesn't lock reliably and it loses location all the time... usually at the worst possible time of course ?.
I had a one plus McClaren and it had the same issues... actually this phone is worse.
Can't really blame the phone it really seems like its has something to do with the 5g. My pixel 3xl works flawlessly with the same sim.
Turning off 5g doesn't solve the issue for me either. So no easy fix.

I had a OP 6T before this s20 Ultra. I had the same issued you did with my 6T as your McLaren.
I do think the Samsung is actually a little bit better than the 6T. The 6T would just randomly stop tracking me and place me on the next road over, etc.
The S20 just stops tracking for a moment then picks right back up. I see issues with it but not like I did with 6T. I also think moving from T-Mo to ATT gives me a more reliable data connection so GPS seems a little better.
I also use my phone for DoorDash and hate these GPS issues.
Some people never see the issue but run 4 to 10 hours a day with GPS and I see it all the time.
BUt to answer your question. Yep, it seems like Android 10 itself is the actual culprit. This is what I have read when I was the 6T. Dont know if there is any truth to that.
S20 Ultra - started experiencing gps issues today too. On and off, and haven't been able to permanently fix yet.

My pixel 3xl has android 10 on it and works flawlessly.
Every 5g phone I've tried has had GPS lock issues. T-mobile released an update that was supposed to fix it when I had the one plus 7t pro McClaren and it improved it but definitely didn't fix it.
I have issues with my ultra as well. Using waze it was putting me almost a Mille off I had to stop and restart everything and then it worked. Someone in the S20 sub reddit mentioned it and a bunch of people had the issue as well.
Ya know I hate to bring it up but a scary thought occurred to me...
The gps issues make the find me app almost useless. God forbid you leave or your phone walks off.
If the gps doesn't track correctly that feature is not gonna be reliable.
I don't even know who to blame here...
The device the 5g???
Seems to be pretty obvious its a 5g issue. None of my 4g phones have the gps lock issue.
Why do they even integrate it into the data. Couldn't it run as a standalone? Its got its own antenea doesn't it?
This is so disappointing... i did NOT buy this phone for the 5g but it seems that it might ruin it for me.
My gps is pretty important to me.

"the 5g???" That's a valid assumption imo, 5G interference(stronger source) against GPS(weaker RF signals)

I'm with tmo and sometimes I have these issues on my s10+. Tmo in Miami sucks. I'm also switching to at&t since they have better coverage in South Florida than Tmo.
I'm on the T-Mobile S20 Ultra.
I recently came from the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren edition. GPS would not lock on the McLaren 5G because of 5G. When you disabled it, it would start working again if connected on LTE or WIFI.
Considering someone above tried that already, it might be a few other things:
#1 - Depends on the GPS app you are using. Maps worked best with Google Location Services enabled. Waze has been wonky on all devices lately. It took me 10-15 seconds to get a lock last night as an example but it eventually locked on (unlike the OnePlus McLaren which could go forever until it did).
#2 - Software glitch. Just like the OnePlus McLaren, a patch will be released to fix the issues with GPS and 5G. It was an issue on a lot of 5G variants of phones.
#3 - 5G Interferes with GPS (rumor and speculation by others)
I have the same issue sometimes its fine and other times I'm 600 meters off to the north east. It feels random. When I plug my phone into my android auto it locks right on but according to gps status pro the device thinks its 600 meters off. So when I unplug it shoots me right back to the wrong location.
What’s weird is I used GPS on the phone to drive from Northern to Southern CA on Wednesday. Then I think on the last part of the trip, as I arrived in LA, the GPS lost and couldn’t maintain lock. Yesterday and today GPS lock was nonexistent driving around Ontario, Rialto areas of SoCal. Had to rely on map and directions of Waze and not tracking location.

G988U - Snapdragon - never had an Issue that I am aware of - when I run an apk to test GPS, I pickup all the satelites in seconds- it happens really quick and I haven't noticed any issues -

I guess I am lucky then. I haven't really had any issues with this phone, aside from a little bit of the focus issues that were happening with the camera - those have seemed to gotten better too - and like most previous Samsung PHones the S20 ultra will only get better as more updates are released.
The screen shot below is from the GPS Test apk - in the past, if I tried doing a test indoors, it usualy took a few minutes to acquire satelights - but with my new S20 Ultra - I acquire satelights within seconds of opening the apk. It happens really fast for me....hope yours gets working better in the near future...

I'm on the US Unlocked Snapdragon and i was definitely having GPS issues. I had GPS Status & Toolbox app installed with the Time to fix status enabled. Almost always between 60 to 90 seconds to get first fix even after doing it repetitively. After the latest firmware update i'm now getting an almost instant fix based on the GPS Status & Toolbox app. I was also having issues with WAZE not locking on for a long time. Google Maps seemed better. WAZE now locks on almost immediately.
I've used the Pixel 6 Pro on and off since November. For the most part, it has been a very good phone, but after using the S22 Ultra for over 2 months now, I realize how much better the P6P could be. The 5G reception, the charging speeds, and overall stability of the Snapdragon S22 Ultra are vastly superior to the Pixel 6 Pro. To be fair, the P6P has a cleaner software experience, better camera in some respects, and better speakers, but the essentials are done better by the S22U. Like many of us, I had hoped that the P6P would have been the Samsung flagship with stock Android, but it's turning out to have similar problems as the Exynos chips, even down to running warm. There are promises for big things in the June or July update, but each update has brought new bugs. I'm considering just selling the P6P and seeing if the Pixel 7 Pro fixes anything.
The Pixel 6 Pro is more S21 ultra though innit?

My girlfriend has the S21 Ultra, I have the P6P, andddd everyime I grab her phone I am surprised at how smooth it is. Every. Time.
I am getting pretty tired of having to borrow my wife's 22 when I need to make a phone call.
I had the s22ultra SD variant, sold it because if the crappy UI and micro stutters I experienced constantly. Regardless of the hardware, what good is it if the software is still in beta production.
A lot of gimmicky features like bixby, knox, etc.
Samsung has potential but they suck.
there is a 300$ difference between these two phones. the s22 ultra BETTER have the better experience.
I have to say otherwise, my girlfriend has the s22 ultra and I got the P6P, I wouldn't exchange it in a thousand years. Performance wise it stutters, quite a lot, to the point of semi freezing. Charging and battery wise we both get home more or less at same time with same battery, I've disabled adaptive charging tho. The stylus is not that impressive, not good enough for note taking. Everything else is meh, I love the purity of android and came a long way, no need for duplicate apps and super updates! Câmera also so so the same quality on both, but she has clearer night pictures (more realistic), pixel pictures at night seems to overwhelm the colours a bit.

Don't forget the shutter speed, Samsung constantly blurs moving things in pictures whereas pixel has no issue tracking pictures of moving objects and is virtually instant from pressing the button and taking the picture
There is no doubt, in my mind, that the Pixel blows Sammy away in every category, especially camera. But not in signal reception. Unfortunately I need my phone to make and receive phone calls.
I own both and spend time in a fallout bunker. My S22 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro Max can make calls and text. The P6P has no service. The radio hardware is most definitely the P6P's Achilles heel.

Most reliable radio hardware I've had. Never had service dropped.
I used to have to have Tasker automatically cycle airplane mode whenever service was lost on all my prior phones, which were all Qualcomm flagships.

That's something else too. While picture quality is pretty good, the picture taking experience falls behind.
Hopefully most of the issues addressed can be resolved or mitigated through software updates, I hope, also for my own sake.

I agree with the signal reception. I have been working from home past 2 years, so I haven't had as much time to get frustrated, meaning using it while out and about. But this phone has the absolute worst reception of any phone I have ever owned and finding out just how horrible it is as I start traveling more. I am just outside metro DC area and have a lot of experience with other phones plus friends and family. Why, just why couldn't they have stuck with a trusted chip? Verizon, fwiw. I will eventually switch to something non Google. Other parts work great, but they call it a smartphone, not a camera connection device.

I agree with ya here, however, I'm on T-Mo. So, it's definitely a problem with the modem needing some very specific code changes. But thankfully enough, these changes have finally appeared to happen about a month back on a beta version of the OS. Now, the latest beta for Android 12.1 and the latest beta for Android 13 both contain modem updates that finally make my service more functional and reliable.
The only downside here is that they won't be pushing this update OTA for another month and a half (and it also took them a while to get to this, haha).

That would be fantastic if it really helps. I am in my house right now. My old Pixel 2 XL, Wife's Pixel 4a, my last Pixel 4a5g all had excellent service here. If I turn my wifi off I can't make a damn call. Today I was fishing at a pond that is in the middle of 3 major roads, had zero service. I will wait and see what comes from this. In your opinion, what are you thinking the change is, but I don't know how to ask you to quantify it.

Not sure. But I think that it has something to do with the general code requirements for this modem, as it was notoriously known for having reception problems in the past (as the Samsung S20 international variant used the same modem). It seems that Google was still recovering from the big lawsuit hit that dug into their phone development department's spending power before the Pixel 6 series had gone into production (was around $270M). I'm hoping that they are able to dig their way out of that hole by the time the Pixel 8 series is in production - as that will be around the time I upgrade my phone again, haha =P.

Did a software update solve the S20 problems? I did a quick search but not seeing that exact resolution. If that update in beta right now helps a lot they may save a customer here, but I am not upgrading to a future Pixel if they put a documented problem in this phone and the solution is to upgrade out of the problem.
I have owned both and they are both flawed.
I still have the S22U and ultimately it is IMO the better option. Yes the shutter lag is annoying and OneUI has it’s frustrations too but the flaws on the Pixel are bigger, FPS was a daily frustration (and the ultrasonic FPS on samsung is just better than all optical ones IMO) auto brightness was just dumb and as other have said the radio is weaker.
I am hopeful that lessons will have been learned with the Pixel 7
I have the vanilla S22, same with everyone says, it has micro stutter on the UI frequently, and the usual Samsung not able to capture moving objects. For those reasons, I am moving to Pixel 7 Pro this year.
To be fair, the P6 Pro is in another price league. You compare an Audi A5 to a BMW 7 (significant price difference). That still doesn't excuse, however, the especially weak reception quality and temperature problems (quick overheating under stress) on a P6 Pro. Basic features need to work, full stop. And Pixels struggle with that at times.
