I've been using this phone for under 4 months and It is an excellent phone. I have never dropped the phone and it has never been water damaged. Last night, before my eyes, the screen suddenly started to flicker but also i noticed white diagonal static on the swiftkey keyboard area like an interfered with TV on a paranormal movie. The screen eventually went black for 10 seconds and came back again. It happened again 10 minutes later and then 10 minutes after that. It is normal and flickers black every 5 seconds and then it flickers static 5 or so seconds later and then it flickers black 5 or so seconds after that.

It is very brief so I paused the video on the frame that contains the artefact as it flashes quickly
I have found this post which looks promising: www . reddit .

I'm still not sure if it is 100% a hardware issue or an issue induced by software or the OS.
I'm pretty sure I've seen this exact feature before. On my old phone I was using AZ screen recorder and I put it to a setting it didn't like and the playback contained that same pink and yellow static on the keyboard but also the artefact in the second image. I seem to remember it now. Although it didn't happen during recording or on the actual phone itself, It only appeared on the playback video.
The first time it happened, I didn't capture it but there were also white lines that flickered up that time, they looked like this: imgur . com/mb5AWBC
I updated EMUI and swiftkey and it hasn't happened yet but I've only been using it for 30 minutes.
I'm not being hopeful but it does look like more of an OS issue to me, given the presentation and location of the artefacts, given also that they are on application defined boundaries such as perfectly on the swiftkey keyboard.
If I'm not mistaken it also made a chirping sound very briefly like a digital TV in the rain
Oh and it's an EVR-AL00 and it was on the last version before the current EMUI update
Update 28/04 16:00 GMT: It hasn't recurred since the reboot and update (03:00 GMT 27/04)

Was on vacation in Asia, and there was a typical afternoon tropical thunder/lightning shower, so got under a shaded area and pick up on M8 (AT&T version) and started video recording. Luckily, I got a shot of another lightning+thunder, but when I playback the video, I realized the lightning has become just few flicks of horizontal flashes. I know didn't actually capture the lightning strike on the video, just the sky lights up really bright, but how come the M8 was not able to capture that? Not sure if it's a M8 thing or on other phones too.
Trying to past a youtube link but xda complains that I haven't reached 10 posts so no outside link allowed for me. Here is the youtube video#

See between 40~45 seconds, you see few flicks of flashes, that's the lightning...
Hello,
I have XBMC 13.0 Beta4. I have been using it fine for about a month. I changed to a new skin a few days ago but I am not sure this has anything to do with the issue. Today I was going through the menu looking at different options in the skin, however i did not change anything. I pressed the ESC key to get back to the home screen of XBMC. When i did this, the screen went wacky. Previously, my resolution was 1920 x 1080. Now, I see 3 windows along the bottom of my tv and about 30 small windows across the top of my screen (6 columns of 5 windows.) So when I go to settings, I see the resolution is now set to 720x480.
I am not sure how to get this back to normal. I cleared cache. Outside of XBMC the visuals are fine. Should I just upgrade new latest release? When I play a movie, movie plays on all "mini" screens. Sound is fine. I also tried setting XBMC visual settings back to default but that did not help.
I am not sure exactly what the issue was. I uninstalled and installed latest version of Kodi and the issue is gone.
I feel silly for jumping the gun there. It was working OK until I tried to add a network share. At some point it looked like it hung or something timed out. When I pressed the backspace button on the keyboard it immediately went to the weird output. Forcing a stop to the app and restarting does not help. Very weird.
HAD exaft the same happening some days ago with SPMC. Worked okay so far as suddenly while configuring YouTube addon via keyboard the Screen gone crazy... Upper half of the screen everything flickering and smeared and lower half showing xbmc three times. Resolution 720x480, not adjustable. Outside and in every other app everything normal. Everything I tried had no effect, until I deleted app data.
My phone is three weeks old and i just noticed that on white screens like google search screen there are horizontal lines flickering which disappear when i touch the screen and appear again when i remove my finger. Also they are more visible as the brightness gets lower. Also the first time i used my phone after a few hours of using i was watching a replay in clash of clans and suddenly vertical pink lines appeared and the whole screen was distorted (like a broken lcd monitor) and a restart solved this problem however it hasn't occured since. Last issue am having is when changing brightness it's not smooth ie the increase or decrease is not accurately gradual don't know how to describe it but you may call it flickering. These issues are not affecting anything but am worried that it may worsen overtime and become a problem. Any help or suggestions please.

Seems to be a hardware issue.. you must visit samsung service center and get it diagnosed..

My N7 fell in water the other day and even though there are no issues with the tablet itself, I'm not sure if the touch screen was damaged or not.
Whenever I scroll on a page or app, it looks like the screen is tearing or lagging and it seems like it's take a split second to catch up with the scrolling. This doesn't appear to be the case with watching video though as playback appears fine.
I'm running 6.01 on the Pure Nexus Rom, in case it's software based but I don't think it is as I was running a different 6.01 rom prior to that with the same issue.
Hi.
I recently noticed that the screen is performing some sort of auto-dimming when displaying content, just like Samsung TVs do on Dinamic Mode. This is not to be confused with auto-brightness, it's something completely different that happens at every brightness level and in every screen mode (Standard, Dinamic, Cinema, Adapt Display).
I first noticed this watching a TV show with subtitles. Whenever the subtitle kicked in, the screen will shift the luminosity of the image displayed, dulling it, resulting in washed out blacks and contrast. After the subtitles disappeared, the image was restored to its previous state. I thought it was app-related, but it happens everywhere. It even happens when displaying still pictures in gallery apps or using comic reading apps.
Cycle between this two images and check it out. Maybe subtle, but it's annoying as hell. I'm on 5.1.1 and I don't know what may be causing this, but I can't recall it happened in KitKat.
Any help will be appreciated.
Not sure if I notice this back on KitKat, but I believe this could possibly be a standard feature among IPS screen?
My VAIO Pro 11 laptop and my Xperia Z1 also experiences it, albeit only if the changes are total ie if the displayed colors cover the majority of the image for instance when changing from a black image to a white image, in which the screen will brighten a bit when more whites are displayed, and vice versa. So it's a more subtle change than what you are experiencing there. However I have not yet notice this on my Note 2014, maybe I wasn't attentive enough. Not really a major bother though.
Hi.
I have an standard IPS desktop monitor and it surely doesn't show this behavior. I have even calibrated it with a colorimeter and it works flawlessly within its specifications. Anyway, I don't recall the Note 2014 having an IPS screen but a simple LCD, but maybe I'm wrong.
I will later try and record a video, I hope I can capture the tablet performing the tweaks. I find it so annoying that I hope downgrading to KitKat will solve it, if there is not other way to fix it.
Here, I managed to capture on camera exactly what I see. Check it out:

I don't know what is causing this.
