Hello all,
Ok this may seem a bit long, so I apologize in advance. I have been at this for a week and haven't been able to find a fix. I don't use my camera much so I am not sure when the problem started but I was running LiquidSmooth on my s3 and one fine day I get this error when I start the camera app, "Camera Error : Cant connect to camera" . I started restarting, clearing cache, no luck. So I restored stock ROM through Odin, and strangely the error still persists. Only difference is on a stock rom it shows up as "Warning: Camera failed". I searcehd xda and other sites and found other people having similar problems, but there is no guaranteed fix to this.
One possible fix is described here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006128 . I tried this but when I try to check my firmware version using the dialer code, i get an error " Factory test has stopped"
There are a number of other suggestions that U tried as well, some of them include finding the correct "SLIM_ISP.bin file and placing them on your /root folder, but so far no luck. I also have a spare camera module that I swapped but the damn thing still won't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Look a few posts down. Might be your bootloader.
There is another thread.. Think in development regarding bootloaders with flashable zip files.
Good luck

I updated my bootloader and modem before the rom. That broke the camera for me. Updating the rom to 4.1.2 fixed it for me. Make sure your bootloader matches your rom.

Well, I just tried doin that, but no luck. I am currently on DLK3 stock rom. and I flashed the odin file from this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41503727 .. Were you referring to something else?
If you are running a 4.1.1 rom with the mg2 4.1.2 bootloader cam gets borked. There's an app that will tell you what bootloader you have. Vice versa I believe. Running the lk3 4.1.1 bootloaders on a 4.1.2 cam will bork.

Flash the new intergalactic rc5 a few pages back from last post and let me know if the cam starts working... Wipe dalvic ect after flash. Also get root checker from market and make sure your on mg2bootloader just to make sure it's not only the mg2 modem

Tried that , doesnt work, also i verified that the bootloader is mg2. I did a little more digging , if you go to /root/sys/class/camera/rear, you can see the firmware for the rear camera, mine only shows up as (null) (null), no matter which ROM or bootloader I install. The front cam firmware shows up fine. Dont know if that will help you guys identify the problem, just thought I would mention it. Any other suggestions?
Camera not connected
Weird, after having a lot of problems when I flashed the official I9300XXUGMK6 Official Samsung ROM JB 4.3 the phone any more could register to the net, looked and looked every where and many solutions appeared, I was afraid to apply some of them but then hierarchy666 suggested to apply the Ultima v 15 ROM and the patch for that version, did so but selecting the xxemh1 modem and the speedmod kernel , and yes it did work, my phone was alive again , but then I tried to take some photos and my camera presented the Camera not connected error.
So I reinstalled the ROM and patched etc etc etc and still I´m presenting the problem, then I decided to try the same Samsung Kernel included in the Ultima Titan ROM and after rebooting I had camera but no registered to the net, kind of weird and think something is missing or corrupted .
Any idea
Regards
Ultima ROM seems to be great and if it could work 100 % could be the best ROM to try.
Hey Avishek were you able to fix your camera problem... I have the exact same problem as yours and the can rear fw shows null null in my case too...

For all those who are having problems with CM or in my case even Gummy not being able to connect to camera. After scowering for 3 hours the internet I have finally fixed my problem. What I did was to flash CM and Gapps, making sure to wipe cache even before installing Gapps after CM. But this time instead of running camera straight off, I went into the file browser with root access. Navigated to my /system/cameradata folder and immediatlely 777 all the Slims.bin's..My camera now works like a charm! (for now)..
I noticed that when trying to change permissions after running camera for the first time, there were some .bin's that had different permissions than others (on some of them I didn't have to check as many permission options). When I went in before running it, any x or r were completely blocked, so I did my 777 and now all works correctly. I hope this helps anyone having this frustrating problem! I did NOT want to go back to stock rom, copy files, re-flash CM, paste files..or some other fixes that were out there..
Good Luck! (I hope this is in the proper area, I don't usually post in forums so forgive me if it is)..LOVE XDA! Has helped me solve countless problems!
hey guys, having the same issue, so Skype works (front camera) , If I launch straight into it after a boot., can't switch to the back camera
I tried factory reset, then I unlocked the BL and put on CM12 , the camera app would open and just hang there , when try to open again it would have camera cannot connect.
Run hardware info from Play Store, it sees both camera fine, this is just the strangest error...
EDIT:didn't see the post above will try that tonight
Yeahh this is an ongoing issue for both stock Os and asop OS
Not sure why.. sem to he an issue hardware wise
So i bought a tmo t999 with stock 4.0.4 on it baseband t999uvlem.
I Downloaded ODIN 3.0.7 put cwm 6 on it and loaded up the s3rx 3.0 TW 4.3 bootloader, modem, and ROM.
Get it booted up and the mic doesn't work now. All i get on sound recorder is static and a kinda beep every 1/2 second or so and no voice. I did try cleaning the mic out very carefully but that did not work.
So I Odin'd Root66 and that did not work so I Odin'd the stock FW from root66 post. and that still did not fix the mic.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks Rian
I have the 4.3 modem and stock Rom on my phone.
Can I flash another modem and stock Rom even though I have the latest bootloader?

Yes, but not with Odin.. Since you already returned to stock with Odin and keep getting the same issue, its likely hardware related

Just to confirm, I have the 4.3 firmware from root66 post, and I can then go to recovery and flash any of the OTA updates, any Modem, or any other custom rom?
I just can not Odin any other firmware except for the 4.3 Stock and 4.3 root66 correct?
Thank you for your help
1) Only 4.3 modems, any other won't work, ota updates maybe if they make them to be flashable with recovery
2) yupp

So my mic will work when I record a video through the camera, but it will not work while on a call, for voice dialer, voice search, or any other sound recorder except for the Camera.
Is there some firmware/OS registry type setting that is messing with routing the mic to the other softwares?
So no ideas on why the mic works for the camera but not for anything else?
Does the camera use the top mic and the bottom mic? And I'm just picking up the audio from the top mic possibly?
Before somedays I was using INU-I9082XXUBMK3-4.2.2 rooted firmware then i switched to RR, CM and others.
But now i am back on official I9082XXUBNG3_I9082ODDBNG1_INU rooted firmware. but after flashing this firmware i observed problems on my device like the display goes OFF and ON automatically while i switch on the phone as well as when i am in recovery(both stock as well as Custom).
Unfortunately i am unable to find the exact cause for this, faced this problem on stock as well as rooted firmware. Its very irritating while using recovery.
Please help me to solve this issue.

I just did it too. Worked just fine but I was getting "Unfortunately, BadgeProvider has stopped working" message. Cleared cache in recovery and still the issue. Went to badge provider, cleared cache/data, disabled, enabled, cleared cache in recovery, and rebooted and it has been running without that message for an hour. I will wipe if it comes to that =).
How do you guys like the update so far? Is it worth updating or would you stick to xtrestolite's rom @gdmlaz?
Can we root this version like we did the one for the first 5.1.1 update and not trip Knox
Does this giant file include updates to the baseband and bootloader? Can I use this to update those two things and then install a custom ROM over it? Thanks

yea this file flashes all the baseband, modems, etc etc you will be able to flash another rom on top after but you will have to flash a recovery over again since this will flash stock recovery and take root away
Wait I can flash this rom over this?

yeap you just have to get twrp recovery and flash xtresolite on top
It's smooth. The devs should tweak it though. I would love to see the call recording the block options and other stuff in Xtre. But for the most part just waiting on the tweaks from the devs.

Unfortunately we have 0 devs working to make a rom specifically for this device so don't think that is coming the best thing we have is the international roms but we lose wifi calling and a couple of other things....... Wish a dev would make at least a deodexed rom so we could at least play with that...... the tmobile edge is the least developed device I ever owned
Does everything work with this? Fingerprint scanner, wifi calling everything else

I like the 0f8 leak it has the native video calling this I heard does not leak running great 4 me

You have the video calling to work. It force closes. For me. If I can install a recovery I most Def go back to Xtre. Love it.

I use th camera normally and upgraded to OE1 via OTA but the camera app doesn't work now.
It says camera failed... Is it any newer firmware than OE1? And how to get it (links)?
?

Youre viewing the right page (OF5) Flash that via Odin and take the OG5 OTA. Youre on OE1, youre already screwed, might as well get the best of Lollipop instead of the worst since you cant turn back anyhow.
Flash of5 and you could stay with that cause its latest version with a tar file available. Security first imo. Plus you can root it.
