Sensors don't work - Samsung Galaxy Watch

Hi,
Approximately 5 days ago, the sensors have stopped working: altimeter, barometer, heart rate, wrist rotation ... I have tried restore to factory data (from app, from clock, from recovery), uninstall galaxy weareable, s-health , ... and nothing works.
Device: SM-R800
Tizen: 4.0.0.1
Version: R800XXU1BSA4
Does it happen to anyone else? Do you know any solution?
Thanks.

Send it to Samsung service center. They will change some pc board. My watch was on warranty service last week for the same problem.

Maybe check this Thread about Gear S3...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/gear-s3/samsung-gear-s3-sensors-t3889064
IMHO several users from other Wearables... like FIT blabla Gear Sport blaaablaaaaa...
In other words you are not alone...

Does the moto360 have Compass??

Hi,
I really like the idea of having compass on my Moto360, and was quite happy to see that Watch maker for example, provide compass feature.
I actually installed few faces with compass, but most of them or does not work at all, or work one in ten times of use.
I open discussion in one of Google+ related groups, and someone said that actually, the moto360 does not have compass in the unit,
therefore, it is mostly software solution that works from time to time.
Can someone confirm this issue, and in case this should work, advise what is needed to do in order to have it running properly?
Thanks,
Tomer
The 360 does not seem to have an integrated compass/magnetometer. If you use a watch face with a compass, it always seems to point north when the screen is activated, and then rotates based on accelerometer input. Not accurate in the slightest, unfortunately.
Works with the Escapes watchface here.
The Moto 360 does not have a magnetometer. It will rotate based on the accelerometer, but not point north.
Edit:
Need to correct myself! Since 5.0.2 the compass is working fine when using watchmaker faces... (Still not working on Ranger watchface)
Tested it for two days, always points north now. Still can't believe it, the specs don't mention it, but watchmaker proofed me wrong.
Compass function constantly stops working
With the latest update, I have the ability to use a compass that is made in Watch maker. However, it will only work for a short time before it stops and just points up. When it DOES work, it definitly points north with the latest OS update.
To fix, i have to restart my watch. Only issue with that, other than the annoyance of restarting the watch, is that the step count resets to zero.
I've tried a couple of compass apps which complained that Moto 360 (I'm on 5.1.1) doesn't have one. Anybody know of an app (not a watch face) that does work on the 360?
Can we connect the moto 360 to a WiFi network apart from bluetooth? If not, is that a hardware drawback or a softwares? I see some amazing features like remote clicking of pictures like in Asus zenwatch and the compass feature in LG G watch R. Since moto 360 has gyro is it possible to get the compass functionality (which can be later included into a watchface)?
the lg watch r has it and works to perfection. according to a postthere, it has a compass ic.

Does GPS work yet?

Hey guys,
So Ive recently aquired and about to return if its defective, my smartwatch 3. I was certain it can do a standalone GPS, but now im wondering if it cant due to software limitations that hopefuly be patched, or is it actually just a lemon?
Ive installed Wear GPS and it finds 0/0 sattelites, even when the phone GPS is on and nearby the watch, in which case all running apps has GPS on the watch too, as long as the phone's in range..
In the Watch Settings I turned on GPS. makes no difference if its off or on actually, still works if the phone's nearby.
any suggestions?
GPS is working, try Ghostracer or Endomondo. They both work well but Ghostracer is loaded with features.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Just clarifying the GPS should function even when disconnected from the phone, correct? Thanks. Prone.
Yes it works. connected or disconnected from the phone.
but the GPS function itself is still buggy,
more information about the gps issue - find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch-3/help/erratic-gps-t3088179
Erratic is better than statically dead. Flat line 0 GPS signal as soon as phone is disconnected.. RMA or wait for patch? If I understand than even if I get replacement the GPS function is useless at this stage...? Thanks, Prone
RMA.
because the feature itself works normally. (erratic not dead)
I'll take you guys word's for it then.. Cause sony is either totally lying or totally stupid:
Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support.
We are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the GPS location services on your SmartWatch 3.
With regards to your inquiry, when your SmartWatch 3 is disconnected from your phone or tablet, you can still use some basic features. Since voice commands no longer work after disconnection, you must tap the screen to navigate your SmartWatch 3 and confirm actions.
In standalone mode, you can still do the following:
•View the time and date.
•Set an alarm.
•Use the stopwatch.
•Use the timer.
•View your agenda for the current day.
•Listen to music saved on your SmartWatch 3 with a connected Bluetooth® headset.
•Keep a record of your outdoor activities.
•View your step count.
•Change the watch face.
•Turn Airplane mode on or off.
Note! Some of the features described above require the download and installation of the relevant applications, for example, a music player app or a fitness training app.
Therefore, unfortunately you cannot use the GPS function when your SmartWatch 3 is disconnected from your phone.
If you are experiencing issues with GPS location, check if the location is turned on on your SmartWatch 3.
To turn on location on SmartWatch 3:
1.Tap the home screen, then swipe upwards.
2.Find and tap Settings > Location.
3.If the location is set to Off, press Location. Then press the green circle with “check” mark to enable Location.
Tips to improve the GPS signal when using SmartWatch 3:
•Remove the main unit from the wrist band and clean away any moisture that has built up around the unit or the wrist band to improve the GPS signal.
•Wear your SmartWatch 3 on the outside of your wrist so that your SmartWatch 3 has the best line of sight with GPS satellites.
•Make sure you have a clear and unobstructed view of the sky. For example, while wearing your SmartWatch 3, make sure that your view is not blocked by trees or tall buildings.
•Before you start to move around, stand still to allow your SmartWatch 3 to pick up a signal from the relevant GPS satellites.
Furthermore, due to the fact that Sony SmartWatch 3 was not officially released on the Israeli market, our official service center in Israel unfortunately cannot provide you with service of the device. We suggest you to contact the original seller for more information.
Should you require any further assistance please contact us again via email at [email protected]. For more information on our products, services and support please visit www.sonymobile.com.
Please be aware that if you do not respond within 7 days of this email your query will be automatically closed. Any further communications will not reach our support and a new query will need to be raised.

Whos bull****ting here? Either way im gunna bother and have no SW3 for a while till it gets RMA'd I suppose.. i actually hoped this is a patch thing.
Sony is totally stupid. I use GhostRacer every day standalone, no problems (and the GPS honestly tracks just fine). Its true that there aren't any real stock apps that use it, but it works offline all the same..
Hi
I have exactly the same problem
Here we are, over a year later, and I'm still having this same problem. Has anyone figured anything out with this? I bought my SW3 refurbished, and didn't realize there was a problem with it until the 30 limited warranty expired. I don't really know what I can do at this point. It's really frustrating, as it seems like too many people have this issue for it to just be a fluke.

Galaxy Watch 46mm Sensors Dead

Hello all,
It seems i have a issue with my 6 month old Galaxy Watch 46mm, 1 week after the ONE UI update, all sensors (accelerometer, gyro and HR sensor) stopped working, only the ambient light sensor was working.
So i had no more step counter, turn your wrist to wake the screen (the one i missed the most), HR monitor, nothing.
After couple of restarts, 3 factory resets and waiting for 2 days, all sensors started working again.
Everything was fine for 1 week.
And now since 3 days ago the issue reappeared. no restarts, factory resets, hard restarts helped, till now.
What I noticed is if the Watch is powered OFF and charging the screen rotates accordingly, but if it is powered ON, the screen remains in the same position as it is on your hand, it does not turn 90 degrees.
So for me it seems to be a software/firmware bug.
Does anyone else have this issue?
How did you solve it?
Thanks
Hi,
i have similar problem on my GWA (SM-R500).
Now its four days and many restarts/Factory resets since my sensors died...
I was on Vacation/camping when my last HR reading history shows it happens while sleeping... I've noticed this next day when going for a walk and no notifications go to my watch (i've set to send notifications to watch only when wearing and not using phone). Then noticed that HR sensor is not blinking (set to always on). So i've tried to switch on manual and it starts measuring but in the end shows a "generic" error message (Can't read, try again) - no "dirty sensor" or similar messages... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zo4pOisX_k
Now when i'm at home and searching for help and found this thread. So i've edited my Watchface to test other sensors (accelerometer, gyro) and they dont show any movement either...
I've tried even switch different options in the menus (like detecting workouts, sensors authorisations, etc) what i've found that helped others, but no avail...
According to Galaxy Wearable app i'm runing latest FW
OneUI v1.0
Tizen 4.0.0.3
FW R500XXU1BSD3
a new 15 MB update seems to be comming out,
Samsung’s changelog for the update read:
• Improved system reliability
• Disabled automatic sync of alarm from paired smartphone or watch
• Improved tracking for swim
maybe it will also make our sensors alive again ?
Question is when it will be out in EU
no clue, is it only for US? i am in Europe/Romania also
btw, my sensors started workin for 1 whole day, then went dead again, and now for the last 5 days, they are working 1 hour in 24 hours...which is kind of nice ?? just kidding
It looks like its update only for your (R800) type of watch... My R500 don't have any new update since April...
I'm thinking if there is some way to downgrade Samsung Health because last day it drain my battery in 22 hours, so i think problem is there...

Well, it really screwed up the floor count. There's another thread on this here but I normally don't get any counts. Today without climbing any floors at all, I have 173 floors.
I've tried Samsung's CZ Tech support and they responded, that this problem (at least my version) is really caused by last update of SHealth app, they know about it, but sadly there is no way to rollback to previous version, se we must only wait for new update

Yep, my friend has the same problem
whenever i reset my watch to factory settings, the latest samsung health version appears as an update, but i left it with the older version for days, and it still didn't help, are we talking about a much earlyer version?

Thats why i said "At least my version". I have different model (Galaxy Watch Active vs Galaxy Watch 46mm) than you, but similar error...
BTW: today i've wakeup with them "dead" - after 1 day and 10 hours in "battery saver mode" was battery drained from 100% to 0% mostly by SHealth app..

got the update 2 days ago, installed it,but nothing changed...
but about 1 week ago, i deleted the Alti-Barometer widget and then uninstalled the Alti-Barometer App thatcomes from the factory, and after several restarts everything started working, except for the floor count, which i can leave without, other sensors still working after 1 week, without any issues
also tested this again after the SW Update from 2 days ago, watch reset, tried to configure Alti Barometer app, sensors crashed, deleted Alti-Barometer app, 5 restarts plus several shutdowns later, everything started working again
so i am 99% happy now, maybe this post will help others
P.S. also with latest Samsung Health App installed, everything besides floor count works fine.
Good to know & glad it's sorted! Cheers
i "forced" that update with changing CSC code from XEZ (CZ) to XAR (US) and get the Tizen 4.0.0.5 update and no luck either... (Changing XAR to XEZ was a little pain in the ass because they use different WiFi bands so i've needed to reconfigure my router to be able to connect to sdb)
and GWA don't have Alti-barometer preinstalled, so i've tried to install it, calibrate (via GPS), tried to measure pressure (no data), tried few restarts with no luck... Now, when Alti-Bar uninstalled, i'm trying more restarts without change...
The sensors are dead even in the service menu (*#0*#)
(BTW: i've got since my last reply 2 days working, one day not and then 5 days in a row when it worked. Then dead again, so i've tried that CSC-updated method...)
Hi all.
I bought a Galaxy Watch 46mm in April 2019 and updated recently :
SM-R800
One UI 1.0
Tizen 4.0.0.4
R800XXU1CSE1
For my part I have the following problem: the number of floors climbed is completely wrong for several weeks now. I do not know if it's from the One UI 1.0 version but when i bought it it worked fine.
So according to you it comes from Samsung Health and not the OS, firmware?
Have you tried to go back on updating the watch by trying to flash it with a previous version?
My watch is still under warranty samsung.
It was sent for repair and they changed the brightness sensor which of course did not change anything !
Attached a screenshot of my watch : you can see 72 floors climbed on the 05/08/2019...
Thank you for your feedback.
I have the sensor issues (HR, lift-to-wake, step count, et al) for almost two months now. countless reboots didn't fix my problem. I then read somewhere that completely switching off the watch, or turning it to 'watch only' mode for 2-3 days fixes the problem. I did just that and voila! Everything works fine. UNTIL, I went to the gym and recorded my workout. I stopped recording my workout and all sensors died again. Followed the process once again, made sure not to record my workout again but it auto detected it this time and died again. I'll turn on my watch again over the weekend to see if the issue auto-fixes again, but I think I have identified atleast one thing that causes this incredibly annoying issue!
EDIT: I've read a lot of people (both on this thread and otherwise) mentioning how the Health app is the culprit. Does anybody have an apk of a previous version to test out this theory?
I give a shot to the "Watch-only mode"... and after few minutes in that mode, turned back on and its working
Edit: it was working for almost same time as it was turned off :/
BTW: I was asking at Samsung's support if there is some way how to rollback (at least like on any android phone - uninstall all updates for default apps) and she say there is no other way than "Factory settings"
If u uninstall Alti Barometer app all works except floor counts. But if u live in building on 4th floor when u go to the apartment gyro sensors goes off and stop working. The same situation is when u go down from 4th floor. Then u must restart GW (on ground or apartment) to start sensors working. Frustrated.

Watch GT2 (not pro) Bluetooth Takes Priority over itself

Hi all,
Thanks for your time in advance..
I'll try to expain my problems
First! environment:
Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S10e
Stock (no root or no custom) ROM: Android 10 (One UI 2.5)
problem source (possibly) device
Huawei GT2 FW:1.0.10.12
Huawei Health version:11.0.1.512
HMS core version:5.0.5.300
case1:
Only GT2 is connected to phone, no other bluetooth device is connected.
Making calls/receiving
voice comes and goes via phone it self, but phone thinks that I'm talking via GT2 , So proximity sensor does not work.
Fix: After starting call, push speaker button, (phone becomes hansfree) then re-push same button (phone is phone but not via GT2) so Proximity starts working.
case2:
when both GT2 and any other bluetooht device (headset or car head unit) connected
Making calls/receiving calls
First for less than a second phone thinks it is connected to GT2 but realises the second bluetooth device, tries to switch but it is not possible, so voice comes and goes via phone.
fix (if this can be called as a fix , while driving a car), trying to touch the bluetooth button on dialer (caller ID screen) and find the proper bluetooth device to talk via, and select it. then explain that you couldn't hear first 5-10 seconds of conversation to your friend/wife/kid.
this is not the phone issue, because simultaneously connected bluetooth devices doesnt cause the issue, if none of them are GT2.
I don't want to unpair and re-pair every time I get in my car, or jogging with my bluetooth headsets in my ears.
if any solution known, please guide me!!!
Regards
Uninstall HMS Core
@werner082002 , could you please confirm that it will solve the issue.
And uninstalling HMS Core will not cause other issues?
For your case no.2 I can confirm same behaviour with Honor Gs pro. At least in a car where a second bluetooth source is present. I don't have HMS Core installed anyway so I think this does not make any difference. But at the end of the day I understand why this is happening. Phone on itself does not select in advance on what device you'll take the call. Who to blame ? Not sure, I'm leaning toward phone Android os... IMHO. Should give you an option before accepting the call not after.
For case 1 I experience this on rare occassions when screen while receiving a call remains black. I just press the power button few times to get screen back on.
Not perfect but I got used to it.
EDIT: I just remembered if I recall correctly, somewhere in BT setting you should get an option to "use this device to receive calls" or something similar...try that.
Have a nice day.

I'll test and let you all know my result about uninstalling HMS Core.
I cleaned all data of HMS core and uninstalled it.
case 1 is the same.
case 2 seems to be solved.
I'll let all readers know , If any additional issues occur.
Problem remains after uninstalling HMS core,
I'll try;
suggestion below.
- Reset the GT2 and pair the GT2 to another phone (preferably an android)
(To reset watch: From the home screen press the Up button, swipe until you find Settings, touch it, go to System > Reset, and then touch √ to confirm. As all the data on your watch will be removed when you restore the watch to its factory settings, please exercise caution before confirming.)
- Settings > Apps > Apps > Tap 3 dots > show system processes > Bluetooth > Storage > Clear Data(Could be different on another android device)
- On Android devices: make sure the phone is up to date
- Uninstall Huawei health app & install from the Huawei App Gallery. You can install the app gallery here (If using a non Huawei phone): https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/campaign/appgallery/
- App Gallery > Me > Check for updates
- App Gallery > Search "HMS core" > Update
- App Gallery > Search > "Huawei Health" > Update
- Huawei health app > Devices > Select device > Firmware upgrade
In regards to 'Case 1' are you answering the incoming calls via the phone or the watch?
Many thanks,
Briany - Service team
none of suggested methods solve the issue permenantly.
found no solutions yet!
And I'm really annoyed with the problem.
NO huawei GT2 , no bluetooth problem.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 44mm.
Works perfectly.
Have the same problem :/
Device: Oneplus 6, no root and latest ROM
I have the same problem. It hasn't happened before, but after one of the last updates, it started happening.
Device: Samsung Note 8
I have the same problem. I start the call from the car, after a few seconds the audio goes back to the phone. I uninstalled HMS Core, but the problem is still there.
Yesterday i got a new firmware update on my Watch GT2, but it didn't fix the problem.

I try all suggested steps but without success. Still everything is same.
When I make a call using my phone, screen stay on and icon of Bluetooth lights green. Turning speakerphone on and off helps but that's not solution.
Hi i have the same problem i believe this problem have only Samsung phone, i have Samsung note 10+ . And i have Samsung buds + and watch gt2.
I have it all together for 6 months and I worked perfectly, about a month ago I started to have the same issue you mentioned, when I make a call, my watch shows a connected device and the call is on my mobile phone. at first I thought the problem was in buds+ when I changed headphones I had the same problem. so I imagined it was a mobile issue, I went to reinstall it in the service and then it worked perfectly. . .
But:
when I download it hms and health app from play store the system works perfectly as soon as I download the updated ones app then the problem begins.
Same here....
I have been seeing more users with the same issue, on almost every tech forum that I'm using.
So, I heard that you may download an older (i.e. at least 8-9 months older) Huawei Health app from apkmirror . com and install. (Downgrade)
Some of the people reported that this is a solution for the issue. (I don't know exact version solving the issue)
If it doesn't solve, try older versions until you fix the issue.
So when you need a watch fw update, you will update Huawei health to the latest version first, then install the watch fw, then turn back to old Huawei health that solved the issue.
As I mentioned above, I moved to GWA2, but you may give it a try and if it works you may report here. (please let us know the version fixing the issue)
Regards.
has any one tried it?
Yes it is working. Unistall huawei health, hms core .and install the version of play store

Question Xiaomi Smart Pen Failing and Shaky

Does anyone know how to solve the problem of the xiaomi smart pen? (it keeps failing and the writing is really shaky)
Perhaps there is a problem with the tip?
I already trade the tip and didn't work... The pen works fine on my pc (ideapad flex 5i)
Try updating the pen's firmware
It's updated
There is some driver that I have to download? Because in the settings of miui it's everything updated
Is it updated or is the update failing?
Try this to be sure: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xiaomi-smart-pen-firmware-update-error.4362203/post-85947797
It is updated
Only other thing I can think of is to unpair the pen from the Bluetooth, reboot the tablet, and reconnect
If that doesn't work, the pen is probably faulty. Take it back to the store you got it from, under warranty
is the problem in all apps or specifically system notes app?
Go to SETTING, on KERNEL version tap 4 times and CIT pages. Its kind of tester for your hardware. I had problems with the stylus too, until finally figured the work around. But at least, it stay on BT the longest by far after i tried this.
Been doing hook unhook god know how many times alredy too tired too frustrated. Hope it stays this time.
Peace Out
