I haven't tried the older versions. I find 7.3.30 to be excellent battery wise, and functionality wise (the stable version doesn't have a video screen recorder etc.)

My phone uses L Speed on performance mode.
As to the theme - I'm using holo v8.

I don't like xiaomi.eu so much because xiaomi.eu have much features not included on stock dev.
I want one build with multi language only and no extra modifications.
Multirom what features have ?
How is for the battery?
Did you tested it ?

One of the only things I dislike about EU MIUI (I'm under 7.3.30, but this was true for other 7.x.xx versions I tried, weekly and stable) is that the capacitive buttons at the bottom aren't 100% responsive. The home and back buttons works OK, but there's a noticeable 1 second lag for the 'recent' button which is very annoying. I've tried LineageOS and Resurrection Remix and there the buttons are much faster.
Are the capacitive buttons responsive and does the recent menu pop uo virtually immediately with no lag on the multirom?
Greetings to all I'm a first-time MIUI user and I would like to know if I switch to lineage OS what features from the MIUI system I'm going to lose. Only the exclusive one, i have identified one in particular which is that the phone turns on with an Alarm set on the stock Clock app.
Any other features that can't be replicated?
Which Lineage OS features would be nice to see in MIUI?
Please give some feedback as I'm a rom developer and want to know the approach I'll take for DTUX CORP ROM.
Thank you
Switching to lineage I would miss the gesture navigation only.
I would like the feature of swiping down on the finger print sensor to open notification shade in miui and Lineage

One question buddy
What features of MIUI are NOT present in Lineage OS?
I ask this because with project Treble, Lineage OS is running very stable even without the kernel source which is impressive and it might be easier to add to LineageOS what's missing from MIUI rather than adding more to the MIUI Heavy Skin
Lineage OS needs a stock camera port, then it would be perfect.
Two good things in MIUI that I look forward to be implemented in LOS are
1) Camera app
2) Gesture based navigation (It kinda grows with usage)
Currently in MIUI 9.5 leaked Stable. Ignoring the little amount of bloat, this version of MIUI looks rock solid.

How do you enable it?
The camera is the biggest problem. Without MIUI, only one camera sensor will work, and you lost the "AI" feature in MIUI camera. On my device, camera in Lineage OS is so bad that I give it up.

Ok! Got it, let's see how possible this camera app port could be.
How is Screen on time on Lineage OS? I always find posts from many devices saying its way less than stock. Can you share with us your personal findings on that aspect?
Thanks in advance

If the camera port comes thru then we'll all be on LOS, if not then a heavily debloated MIUI 9.5 should be the ideal thing.

i do agree on leaning towards debloated MIUI but we are gifted to have a device with Dual boot possible so we don't have to limit ourselfs
Ok! I made this thread to know the differences from other users experience, but, none voiced it properly so I had to do it myself...
MIUI over RR / LOS
-------------------------------
-Camera portrait mode / image quality
-Fm radio
-wake on fingerprint sensor touch without registering a finger.
-one hand mode
-native call recording
-more stable
-Miui Themes (personal preference)
RR / LOS over MIUI
-------------------------------
-EXTREMELY LIGHT AND CONFIGURABLE
-stock Android
-more compatible mods
-bloatware free!
Because of the first 3 items MIUI has over stock Android I went back to MIUI after a couple of days. It's better to debloat stock rather than losing important features.
To tell the truth as far as I have been using MIUI OREO Rom in my Note 5 AI just because of
1. Smooth full screen gesture.
2. Most important The Stock camera which can utilize the camera hardware fully.
3. The stability of battery backup.

What i miss on miui is the volume dialog when casting to a chromecast or google home.
You can control cast volume but no volume dialog is shown so you can't change other volume sliders when casting or see the casting volume.
Hello
I want to buy a RN5 Global, but before I want to know if some special features and feature combinations are available.
Please add information of which rom you use (miui9/10/custom) to your answer. Thank you
1. Is it possible to use Face unlock + fingerprint + double tap to wake together?
2. Can you swipe down on the fingerprint sensor to pull down the statusbar/notification panel (like on oneplus phones)?
I think its really nice to have on 18:9 phones
3. Is skipping music tracks by long pressing the volume keys available in Miui?
4. Can I use Gcam port like on SD820 devices ( & without unlocking bootloader)?
Bonus: Whats the most stable custom rom right now and is it really bug free to use as a daily driver?
I think thats all for now.
Thank you for all answers
1)Yes.
2)No you cant swipe down on the finger print scanner for notifications/status bar to show, but you can pull down the status bar from anywhere on the homescreen by swiping down.
3)No.
4)No.
The most stable custom rom (imo) is lineage, I would adv8ce installing a custom kernel [BlackBox or NoName]
.
I would also recommend Miui 10, very stable, very smooth, and its also an eye candy.

Hi all, I'm coming from a Pixel phone. This is my first Xiaomi phone with MIUI on it. I just got the phone today and I've been playing around with it. So far the MIUI experience is not too bad. It's not too heavy handed and feels relatively stock. And it comes with some useful apps like a decent clock, weather app, voice recorder etc. so it seems alright and I don't mind it much.
What's your opinion of it? Do you like stock MIUI or do you prefer an AOSP based ROM? And also I like to take a lot of pictures with my phone. So is the camera better on the stock MIUI software or is the camera just as good or even better on an AOSP ROM?
In my opinion, if you like MIUI, you should go with a custom MIUI based ROM like xiaomi.eu or else. But you can still try others ROMs that you may like.
The other custom ROMs don't have stock camera (for the moment), but Gcam is available in many versions, many users thinks it is better than stock camera app, if you are coming from a pixel you might be more familiar with that (and other pixel like ROMs).
Always here if you need more information !
This is just my opinion but I'd rather stick pins in my arms than use Miui. There are so many ROMS for this device and they are all pretty stable and with Gcam they are amazing. In my personal opinion GCam is better than the stock cam and takes better photos especially when you want to zoom in.
My personal favorite ROMS based on stability and features are ArrowOS, crDroid and Syberia. I'm just not a fan of Miui and their annoying prompts when you try to do anything like change permissions for an app and their plethora of bugs. It reminds me of EMUI but worse.
You have a week until you can unlock your bootloader, so try MIUI for a week and decide for yourself. I would recommend to debloat Miui first. I am counting final hours, before which I can unlock..
Can't stand MIUI for more than a week

So true those 10 seconds of waiting for many changes become incredibly annoying vrey fast.
Arrow OS is really fast booting and incredibly smooth interface, to bad in the customisation department is a little lacking

the same here for me....in eu miui fast and stable for games...any good ather rom ?
My advice - use MIUI EU stable ROM first and see if it suits you - if not, then explore AOSP ROMS
AOSP always, but it's nice to try MIUI first! It's improving. Specially when in some month it will be updated to MIUI 13, and our F3 will be one of the firsts MIUI's devices to do it. So I would do what people said, but I'm completing it:
- Ask (yes, you have to ask first) to unlock your bootloader. You'll have to wait for a week before unlocking it.
- Try MIUI relaxed for a week. Take some screenshots about battery... and try to feel how smooth and performant can be
- (7 days later asking unlocking bootloader) Unlock bootloader. It will erase everything. Take advantage of it to change to some AOSP Rom, like AICP, ProtonAOSP, ArrowOS (never tryied), or whatever. You have dozens.
- Compare and decide some days later. You can always come to stock. And in the while, in some months you will have MIUI 13, so yeap
Depends on your taste! If you like MIUI over Vanilla Android, you can flash Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM for the best MIUI experience.
I dislike MIUI, but I use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM, because the Vanilla Android ROMs I've tried don't have Dolby Atmos (or a good version implemented) and lackluster Camera-App.

Yup, also Beta! Also, when trying out AOSP ROMs I noticed the vibration felt really cheap, and I think Xiaomi has done vibration motor calibration on MIUI, to make the vibration motor feel as good as it does. If you set a Custom Vibration Time in Gboard (MIUI & AOSP), it also feels weird and cheap.

Yup, but i think the Overscroll effect only happens in the Settings unfortunately. I tried Moto Dolby and didn't like it at all, it didn't sound anywhere near Xiaomi's Dolby Atmos?
My experience so far is:
* Yes, MIUI is very nice and the new UI (e.g. control center) is very nice as well
* MIUI has a lot of bloatware but you can remove them all
* Battery life is fine as well (getting 6h ~ 6h30 of SoT without gaming)
* The Xiaomi.EU ROM is as good as the stock one but with less bloatware and some nice additional features, still 100% compatible (so both camera and Dolby Atmos speakers quality are preserved)
ArrowOS is very nice and smooth but not really much faster to stock anyway. Camera quality is worse, speakers quality is way worse due to the lack of Dolby Atmos support. There are a few bugs here and there and globally you aren't getting the stability guarantees of the stock ROM as with all custom ROMs.
So, finally:
* If you want maximum stability to avoid all problems, or if you are fine with MIUI's UI, stick with the stock ROM
* If you want good stability and 100% compatibility, go for the Xiaomi.EU ROM
* If you want stock-like experience, ArrowOS or crDroid are both very good (although I've had problems with crDroid, but it's my personal experience)

Also small tip with Dolby Atmos: You can enable Video Toolbox in your favourite Music app (Spotify, YouTube Music, whatever) and customise the sound of the Dolby Atmos Video-Preset. This way you can adjust the surround sound of your music. ^^

I hate the stock rom of A2 Lite. Too slow and the background apps keep reloading. I need a custom rom, I already asked on other threads and no one seems to care. I'm a noob, never flashed so I don't have experience and the support is terrible around here. Please tell me which custom rom works fast and stable as of now. I need Gapps and Instagram to work, banking app, google maps. Also no bugs with incoming calls, audio or fingerprint sensor please. I don't care if it's A11 or A12, it just needs to have fast performance, battery life and background optimization. And most of all Instagram, since all the mods seem unable to run it decently. I ask for your help, thanks in advance.
Try Derpfest 12. Daily driving it currently, and still pretty good. Reminds you tho that this 5-year-old phone is already kinda slow in general because of the old hardware, so it aint gonna fix it like magic.

Not great, not terrible. I tried a lot of ROMs (especially Android 11 and 12) and safe to say I can't tell the difference between them. So-so, if you ask me.

I've long gone with stock ROM so I can't compare it. I've heard that Android 12 have more optimization compared to 11 though.
But again back to my point: even though it might fix some of your ROM bugs and hiccups - it's still not magic. Mi A2 Lite is a 5-years-old budget phone. I still got some slowdowns and crashes, no matter what ROM I use.
I mainly change my ROM because I need some features that only available in Android 11 (or 12).
If you need stability you can go back to the original android 8 rom where this phone was fantastic
For my part i need the settings of dnd that where implemented on android 10
