hi
i recently bought a chord mojo as an amplifier for my headphones. i tested it on the zenfone 2 and i find out that i can only play audio if played through usb audio player pro but i couldn't play any audio through power amp, spotify, mx player pro, youtube, etc. i thought that usb audio is already enabled for lollipop so i was expecting that this available already for all sources. do i need to download additional drivers?
thanks

In order to enable usb audio, you have to choose AudioWizard\Smart mode then plugin usb audio in and play.

This didn't work unfortunately. My usb dac isn't picking up the sound
For me, it worked by using the afore mentioned setting and by plugging a cable from the headphone jack to my aux jack on my car deck.

Hello
Unfortunately, chord mojo doesn't have an aux in. It requires purely digital input.
Hello
I flashed android 6.0 and my usb dac is working marvelously now. I guess the stock rom from asus which i think is lollipop version 5.0.1 does not support usb audio.
Any more issues playing Spotify or anything else? I'm thinking of the exact combination of phone and DAC.
The Pixel C appears to have an outstanding screen and wireless support.
Thus, one would expect it to be one of the best options for streaming high quality video contents.
But high quality video streaming makes very little sense with low quality audio.
Thus, the obvious question is whether Pixel C does (will) support USB host mode for audio.
Android >= Lollipop 5.x has kernel support for USB host mode for audio.
Nexus 5, 6P, 7 (2012), 7 (2013), 10 all support USB host mode for audio.
All recent iOS devices support USB host mode for audio: just select the connected DAC in the system/audio menu.
Does Pixel C support USB host mode for audio? And, if so, how? How do you toggle between internal sound card and external DAC? Which mobile class-compliant DACs are known to work well with Pixel C?
Thanks for your feedback! Best, nbpf
It works when i connect my DAC via the USB C port so i guess the answer is yes.

Thanks clubtech, I very much appreciate your feedback! Is your DAC a self powered one or does it get power from the USB port? Best, nbpf

Thanks clubtech! How do you toggle between internal sound card and external DAC? Does the audio output default to the external device after you plug in the USB DAC or can you select which output is enabled/disabled in a menu? Thanks, nbpf
Just stumbled upon this thread. I have a Cambridge audio dacmagic xs working on my pixel C via a USB A to C adapter without any problems. All audio goes through it, and the android volume controls do still work. I can't see any setting to switch between audio outputs, it seems to be automatic on plugging/unplugging.
Hello guys,
I just brought type c audio adaptor for my zuk z2 and when i connect my mi in ear headphones pro to it, It doesn't work, The audio still comes through speakers, it shows some power supply is connected, but can't change it or click it,
So my question is, Is there a way i can route audio through usb type c? Cause i have seen type c earphones working on zuk z2 and is it something related to DAC? I tried enabling "route audio through usb" from developers options, but still no luck and my rom is crdroid, so any workaround?
Thanks in advance

If you are using custom ROM, then visit developer options in about phone.
Look for USB Audio routing and enable it.
Something similar to this must be available on stock ROM as well as custom ROMs.

There is an option to disable it but not enable it did that, i also did "select usb configuration" to audio, but i think it may work in some other rom or any mods??? But currently it show me something is connected but won't let me change it so i am positive it should work with some tweaks as it detects it but sound still comes through speakers
Thanks for the help anyway ?
I've been doing some searching around about this as well and I've come to the conclusion that I think it is actually something at a hardware level. You see, for audio over usb-c to work, the manufacturer has to decide to allow for the audio pins to be routed the the USB-C port instead of a headphone jack. Now most modern phones seem to support this but the Z2 with its headphone jack seems to not be wired to allow for letting audio be routed to the USB-C port which is why plugging in one of these straight through USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack converters doesn't actually do anything.
It's a shame since the headphone jack on my Z2 just died and because I can't use an adapter to run my audio through type-c I'm having to buy myself an entirely new phone just so I can have a working headphone jack. Oh well
Hey guys, I know I am 3 years late, if anyone still has this question it IS POSSIBLE to get audio through the usb port, you will need an OTG cable and a usb DAC (not an expensive one, the small ones for pc that take almost no space should work), connect your headphones to the DAC and to the OTG cable and you are done!
Hi,
Iired of the lousy audio and hissing etc I have been playing with USB DAC but only works with a few special media players and no sound from BT and other apps etc (as well documented) so then need a way to mix DAC output with HU output for different applications
Then I found someone had put together a driver package that put all audio via ALSA to the the DAC on an oder version of Android on MTCB, any chance anyone understands this enough to make it work on Nougat and MTCD?

henno.
I have a oneplus 3 and a dragonfly DAC and use USB Audio player PRO.
Spotify doesnt work with external DAC.
If i play spotify via the phone speaker then connect my DAC it will play using the DAC (kinda) but when I give permissions to USB Audio player PRO (Uapp) the playback stops but will continue to play via the headphone jack of my phone.
Is there a soution?
If I root? Change from stock ROM?
Thanks
Jamie

No, you can only use Spotify with Android native driver for external DAC. You don't need permission for that, permission is only for apps that use exclusive mode while playing music like UAPP because of its own driver. Personally I don't use Spotify with external DAC because of lower volume and stuttering issues (native Android driver sucks). I only use UAPP with streaming via Tidal connected to Hifime 9018.
Edit: What I meant was Spotify will work with external DAC but the prompted permission once you connected the DAC is for UAPP. So just deny it and play normally using apps like Spotify, YouTube etc.
