Which ROM is your dad's phone on?
If he is using the ROM it was shipped with, it might be a bug.
But if he is using a custom ROM, then it may be a ROM issue.

Havoc Os question do you maybe have a twrp backup of the modem? I ask because I had a similar situation on my leeco le pro 3. And in that case flashing the radio through fastboot worked. Unfortunately I can't find a fastboot radio file for the P2

Download that, sadly I don't have a modem backup.
So I can only tell you to either flash firmware via provided tool
Or download firmware of S233 and then do OTA updates to latest firmware in order to repair modem
In our guides section of Lenovo P2 you can find a thread by me where I have listed all steps to restore your phone.

This tool won't lock your bootloader.
You can just flash twrp via fastboot after all the OTA updates are done

Twrp won't have the decryption keys or some of the HTC specific functions required to apply the OTA. You'll need a stock /system and a stock recovery.

Check out my TWRP of a stock no-root ROM (lollipop): https://mega.nz/#F!qsNkyITK!yGJVGKuWOZ_vyndIF8-Z0Q
There are also other files there as well, but remember that if you don't update your firmware you may have issues.

Would this explain the error that I'm getting?
Package expects build fingerprint of htc/tmous/htc_m8:4.4.4/KTU84P/396641.2:user/release-keys or htc/tmous/htc_m8:5.0.1/htc_m8: 5.0.1/LRX22C/464190.4:user/release-keys.; this device has htc/tmous/htc_m8:4.4.3/KTU84L/365360.5/user/release-keys.
I flashed stock recovery, but my phone is still root. Did a full wipe/restore, still getting same thing. The error looks like it's not happy about a missing update perhaps, if I'm reading that correctly. Best I know, I have the latest kitkat version. But, I've had twrp for awhile so maybe I missed an OTA update along the way.

If you're SOFF and supercid just flash the lollipop ruu T-Mobile just release. It doesn't matter what previous rom you're on. Then reflash custom recovery and rooted. I've done this alot of time already.

For me (I am s-on) I did it in this order:
- flashed twrp stock rom
- rebooted and made sure the rom worked
- flashed stock recovery via fastboot
- rebooted and downloaded and installed OTA.
If you are s-off I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) you can use the RUU instead.
I did have a wifi issue which was solved by a factory wipe ( yes I had to re-install and setup the phone again).

You must be running NPPS25.137-93-2-5 to be able to update through OTA. However, you can still update to Oreo using fastboot method (link here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/official-oreo-8-1-0-opp28-85-16-t3849244), but most probably, you will loose all of the data stored in the phone.

It's safe as long as you don't try to flash gpt and bootloader. Downgrading one (or both) of these partition results in hardbrick.

If you update to official Oreo but then decide, you want to install CustomROM, you have to downgrade to Nougat first. Otherwise, your fingerprint won't simply work with any CustomROM. I have already mentioned it in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/help/finger-print-sensor-issue-oreo-roms-t3853491.
Btw, bootloader version is not related to fingerprint working or not with CustomROM. There's another partition that makes difference in it.

In my opininon yes, but your opininon might be different. Downgrading from official Oreo to official Nougat isn't difficult at all. You just have to remember, you can't flash gpt and bootloader. It's also recommended to avoid erase modem commands to prevent loss of IMEI.

None of them. Treble project needs Treble TWRP and Treble LineageOS installed firstly for correct functionality of other Treble CustomROMs. More info in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/treble-project-treble-cedric-t3820451.

I was on 137-93-14 too. I flashed the fastboot firmware 137-93-2-5 to go back full stock and official. No need to re lock bootloader..then I downloaded the latest OTA update 28.85-16 and installed it via ADB sideload.
My phone is xt1670 on channel retca..though I can't say for sure what difference it makes if your on amzin. Wish I could help more.
No problem bro Yesterday I flashed the fastboot files and successfully updated to oreo which I found on this thread.

Install Global ROM, Revert Stock Recovery afterwards

Good Day all,
I was wondering, is it possible to revert to the stock recovery after installing the Global ROM on the mi mix 3 China Version?
Reason I am wondering is because when I/We receive a OTA update from Xiaomi while using the Global ROM, will the phone be able to update or will it just freak out on me/us and die?
Currently I am waiting for my Bootloader to be unlocked (ETA 70HRS), I have all files necessary files downloaded (TWRP, Global ROM, Magisk v17.1)
Help/Advice would be appreciated :good:

I find you very helpful in the forum and I would like to ask you few questions, I am thinking about buying the device but only chinese version is available here and I cant wait for the global to arrive
my questions are:
1- global version only released with 6GB RAM , if I got chinese version with 8GB , will it be able to run the global ROM ?
2- I have never flashed a ROM before , but I have strong knowledge in linux and command lines, will this be a hard task for me to do ? is it risky to brick the device ?
3- After flashing the Global ROM , will I receive official OTA updates directly from xaiomi without any problems ?

1. Yes no problem, I'm on 8GB model and worked fine
2. Really hard to hard brick, soft brick possible but easily fixable via fastboot to flash new system, boot etc
3. I believe so, not tested as there isn't a 2nd global update out?

You'd have to use the Xiaomi EU rom with or without magisk as the global ROM has a CTS mismatch so won't pass safety net.

No, flashing the ROM will keep TWRP installed as it's a custom miui ROM.
OTA works and will automatically flash the update via TWRP for you.

Just a quick update for you all that I have successfully, unlocked the Bootloader and installed the ROM.
Just a quick note to mention that after you do:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP_perseus.img
DO NOT put in the command:
fastboot boot TWRP_perseus.img
After flashing TWRP just take your phone (either connected or disconnected from PC) and hold vol up and power. It will reboot in TWRP.
I tried rebooting into the recovery using the above command line and it just rebooted into MIUI Recovery.
Hope this helps :good:

You will need to wait till next update and flash a newer rom I'm affraid.
You could wipe everything in recovery and then use the relevant fastboot rom to go to the BA version. I did that and went from AA to BA version on 1903.

If the phone is a Chinese version does not lock the bootloader.
Miflash is used to flash firmware.
unlock bootloader erases your data, Miflash too.
If there is an error during the flash, the flash does not occur.
