Hello!
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Wifi only, model SM-T3100ZWYXAR. I bought it here in the USA. The stock version does not contain a vietnamese language. I want to get a "firmware" or "rom", I dunno what, that have the vietnam language AND the english language firmware. I dunno, a SE Asian region or Vietnam region if there is one. Problem is I'm new to Samsung and don't know exactly how to do it, if there is instructions, great. I also don't know which and where to download the ftf or firmware or rom. I also want the original with my stock if I want to flash it back. I download the ODIN which I think is the tool to do it.
I do have several Sony Xperias phones and do know/ have experience how to flash the ftf to the phones. Is it similar in any way?
What is the difference between firmware and ROM? Are they the same, is ROM is regularly used here cause almost nobody mentions firmware and that's why I got confused?
over on the Xperia forums, I almost never heard of the words ROM used, but that is because I was only looking for firmwares.
If successful, I'm planning to purchase another Tab but with 3G or 4G LTE model and hope to flash a firmware/rom with VN and ENG language into those as well. So is there a thread with all firmwares/rom in one as I see it scatter everywhere. [
btw, do I need to root or unlock bootloader to do this? If so, some instructions would be nice.
Is this what you are looking for? The T3100 is 3g and the T3110 is WiFi. At least that is what the Sammobile site is saying.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=27167
Here is the link for the firmware. Just enter SM-T310 or SM-T311 in the search field.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
ROM and Firmware are interchangeable terms. You do not need to root to flash (load) OEM Rom with ODIN. Just make sure you follow instructions. They literally are all over this site.

thank you, now I know what to look for.
To be safe and to prevent stumbling blocks., first download and install 'Samsung Kies' to your PC..
that will install the drivers needed for Odin to communicate with your Samsung device.
Now you dont USE Kies... just install it and once installed, dont use it when you run Odin..
just run Odin only..then download your new firmware to your tab.
Good luck and write back if you run into a snag.

ok, I finally found the firmware I wanted to try out (SINAPORE, hopefully they have English AND Vietnamese language. took a while to install it via rapidgator.
But just realize I don't have the instructions to flash it. can someone send me links for the instructions to flash firmware for Galaxy Tab 3?
Fyi, I have download XSP-T310XWUAMG3-20130801161200.zip and install KIES, Odin. what else I need?
Read this several times before you actually perform the flash. This way if you have a question you can ask.

Yes, PDA is the correct location. When you say you tried but didn't work, can you be more specific? Please list exactly what you did to the detail. Then we can see if you missed a step or you added/deleted something or whatever.

ok so I
0) Ensure the tablet is at least 50% charged and is turned off. mine was 80%
1) Installed KIES, Odin 3.07, open Odin 3.07, Samsung USB driver for Mobile Phones.
2) Download the correct stock firmware
3) went to Download/Odin mode on Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, POWER BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN, then VOLUME UP to confirm.
4) Connect USB from PC to Galaxy Tab.
5) tick/checked PDA click on PDA, find md5 file.
6) Start.
then I waited, but it always FAILED, three times. what did I do wrong. Also I installed Odin 3.09, but none of the malware it came with. but I don't see Odin 3.09 anywhere. Where can I download the correct 3.09?

When you executed Odin 3.07, did you right-click and Run as Administrator?
After connecting the device to the PC, AND, before you hit start, did your Odin 3.07 screen look like the attached image?
Blue box in ID:COM with 0:[COMx] where x is a com port number.
Was KIES running (should not have been)
Auto Reboot unchecked (not important for OEM Rom)
All the text in the messages box
Check mark to the left of the PDA box
File name in the PDA box ending in MD5
The most important is the blue box that says 0:[COMx]. If that is not present then you cannot upload the file to your device.
Your Odin 3.09 went to C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Temp

Yes, I'm sure the 0:[COMx] was present when I did try it, And I didn't uncheck the Auto-Reboot box, maybe I should? only that and F. Reset Time was checked
Also, does the md5 have to be in a specific folder? Mine was just on the desktop. does it matter if I use 3.07 or 3.09 Odin?
And just to make sure, I need to have my tablet in Odin/Download mode before I proceed, correct? before I connect the usb.

Auto-Reboot can be checked or unchecked for the OEM Rom. If you install one of the other developer roms then is should be unchecked.
My recovery files (OEM Rom) are located in a folder two levels deep. I makes no difference where the files are located. So you don't need to fret over that detail. I am not 100% sure about the differences between Odin 3.07 and 3.09, so that question I cannot answer. I personally use Odin 3.07 even though I have 3.09 on my computer.
Yes, first place the tablet in download mode (vol down and power, then vol up), connect cable, open Odin 3.0x as Administrator and verify connectivity, add MD5 file to PDA, press start.
One thing I think might be important is to extract the MD5 file from the zip file and place it somewhere you can access, like your desktop (as you have it). Do not leave it in the zip folder, and, do not try and load the zip folder. I do not think Odin will let you do that but I just want to make sure that you are not trying that.
There is just one thing that I am also not sure. In the original post you said you have the "T310 WiFi only" tab (shouldn't that be T311 Wifi) and it looks like you are trying to load the T310 3G version firmware. That might be a reason it is failing. This is just a guess but you might want to download the T311 OEM Rom and try that. Match your firmware with that of the OEM. Just a thought. Please confirm your product and your firmware.

Thanks. I thought it should've restart by itself, but I guess I was wrong. It was scary, though, I know how easy it is to screw it up and brick your device. good thing is. IT WORKS! SUCCESS! now I have the language I wanted, Vietnamese language in the Singapore firmware.
Since I succeeded, I'll go ahead with the SM-T217T Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 4G LTE (T-Mobile USA). I just realized that the SM-T217T is USA T-Mobile only. Can I flash other SM-T217(_) and it'll still work? the 3G/4G LTE?

I think that you shoould ONLY flash firmware that was designed for YOUR particular model.
Hardware is different for each model, and you can (will) brick real fast by flashing different models FW on a certain device.
Stick with your model number.
You may want to ask T-Mobile how to get the Vietnamese language on their device.
They may just be able to tell you how to D?L the language pak for it.
Good luck
Well, I guess I'm stuck at a road block with the SM-T217T Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (T-Mobile USA). Would rooting help? I can tried apps like More Locale, but I don't think it's any luck, since I tried and failed with the Tab 3 8.0.
But at least I succeeded in flashing the correct firmware I wanted on my SM-T310 Tab 3 8.0 Wifi only.
Thank you all for your help.
please help me!! clearly i am more of a noob than I thought I was!
I rooted my phone using Odin a few months ago. Then it just crapped out on me. Now it is stuck in a boot loop mode. I can get it to recovery mood and download mode. I have tried wiping the cache partition and done the factory rest. That isn't the issue. The issue is that when I have Odin open the phone isn't being recognized. it keeps saying "USB device not recognized. the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". I have tried reinstalling the drivers for my Sprint S6. I have also updated the media package for my windows 8.1. But it still isn't recognizing the phone. I also tried un instaling and reinstalling. I have smart switch but still nothing. I am not entirely sure how to fix this. Please Help!! Also, in the top left hand corner where it says "kernal is not seandriod enforcing. custom binary blocked by frp lock"
I've exhausted everything best to my knowledge. I appreciate all the help I can get from you experts. Thank all in advance from this tech noob!

Geez... that sucks, and disappointing no one has replied yet.
I hate to reply with a few of the obvious tricks- but it has happened multiple times to me that my phone won't be recognized by ODIN (or anything other than as "charging"). Usually this is solved by switching to other USB ports, and plugging-unplugging a few times, but when that fails (which it does not infrequently)- I have gotten lucky by not just restarting my computer, but actually turning it off, waiting a moment and turning it back on.
Magically sometimes that does it.
Hope that works for you, and that others more senior weigh in on this :good:
I second what spammy said.
I just spent 6 hours fixing my Sprint s6. I got it domestic unlocked and somehow near-bricked it, and then got the dreaded usb not recognized message. Shutting my laptop all the way down and letting it sit a few minutes did the trick and I was able to use Odin afterwards.
update!!
so, i got it to connect by just lifting the tongue a little. It connected to Odin. I tried to flash it using the TAR file but it keeps saying failed. Can anyone tell me why it says "custom binary blocked by frp lock" and how to fix that ? I know I have to connect it to samsung online or something but the phone is stuck in boot loop mode so I cant really do much. Like I said before I tried to flash with the 5.0.2 TAR file and ended up with the following message at the top left and corner in red and black highlight "SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 2. BINARY: 1" what does this mean? is there a fix? and how do I fix it? my phone is already factory rest and I lost everything so I am not concerned about that as long as I can get it to turn back on. Please help me.

Sounds like your USB is a bit out of wack. You need to make sure that the PC you are using is finding the device properly, loading the drivers, and allowing you to access the internal storage. Just go to "My Computer" on your PC and your device should show up and allow you to access it. Otherwise trying to use Odin will be a waste of your time.
Once you have that Odin should find it no problem. However, if your microUSB on the device is acting intermittent and you start flashing in Odin and it disconnects for a sec there will be issues. You don't want an interrupt during the flash.
If you can do all this go to this link and download Odin 3.10.6 and the OJ7 tar file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/general/how-to-to-100-stock-root-t3075448
Don't use previous version of Odin as they are confirmed to have issues flashing some tar files on the S6. If it doesn't work try doing another factory reset through stock recovery and try again.
Report back your findings to continue troubleshooting if needed.
Thank you! progress/update

so, i downloaded the 5.1.1 Tar file progress is that I am going to flash it. I have been using the most updated version of Odin (3.10.7) could that be causing the issue? the phone stays connected while its flashing in Odin. Once it is connected I dont mess with it? Also, please answer me if I am able to fix this issue and will i be able to get my phone booted?

I have not used the 3.10.7 version yet but should not be a problem.
Download the tar file, connect the device and make sure Odin shows the device as connected/ready, hit the AP button and select your tar file, then flash and let finish. Then it will reboot automatically and boot up normally.
Try this and post your findings.

Thank you all for the kelp! i finally got it to work. Never again will I root my phone. Now, the only sad thing about it is that I lost all my treasured memories ( pictures and videos)

I have an LG e989_0608 which has this error.
It was purchased on ali express, so i am not sure about the info.
here is an example listing:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/E980...48d8365fb7cf716-1459179376583-05342-eub6yrrBy
I am not exactly certain which device this is.
Some said F240, some said e988.
enclosed below are pictures of the error and the device backside.
I tried several methods of flashing, and nothing seems to actually get anything going in Download mode.
is there a universal img file for CWM\TWRP I can put on there the same way we did on samsung devices ?
By your description you have an e989. Then, go to Hyelton's thread in the general section, download the files for the e989. There you will find the instructions to flash back to stock using LG tool.

I tried what he suggests, it keeps failing to flash in download mode, says I should "restart to resume upgrade"

I'm not sure that's the same, but when I need to return to stock, after the extraction of the kdz there's an error.
However, behind the error screen the upgrading process continues. Is that what happens?

Is the phone in download mode correct? And using a USB 2.0 port?

yes and yes
Samsung SM-T800 is basically a paperweight.
Out the outset, let me just say that I have already:
-voided my warranty and tripped KNOX (it was rooted before all of this happened)
-Tried different USB ports and USB cables
-Tried different USB drivers
My PC won't recognize it, and I have tried Universal Drivers, and Samsung USB drivers, which means Odin and ADB can't help
I can only boot into download mode
When I tr to boot into recovery, I get the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" message
And to add insult to injury, I can't even turn the damned thing off. Every "battery pull" (Power+Volume down) leads back to "Firmware upgrade encountered an error" message
I have been wrestling with this thing for 2 days already, scouring these forums. And every one ends with "Oh I just reloaded my stock ROM with Odin" ARGHHHHH!
Thanks in advance
OK I'm gonna start off by saying I'm trying to help you. If you get smart and angry then I'll leave you to it.
Why am I saying this? Because I've been down this road many times with people saying this that and the other doesn't work when in the end in most cases it turns out to be user error and I can tell you're frustrated.
I've read your post regarding what you've tried but you're still gonna have to bear with it if you want help.
The first thing I need to ask is, you know the difference between download mode and recovery mode? No I'm not trying to treat you like an idiot.
Sometimes the firmware error can be cleared by booting to recovery and wiping cache.
How did you end up in this scenario?
If the above doesn't work the first thing you need to do is put the tablet in download mode.
Connect the USB cable, navigate to device manager, look for something along the lines of Samsung mobile USB composite device under USB devices.
If you see an exclamation mark instead then you will have to manually install the USB composite driver.
Once you see that device listed you are ready to use odin in download mode.

First of all, thanx for the reply. I appreciate, and i probably shouldn't have written the post after being up all night and bieng pissed...probably came off a little snarky...
Having said all of that, yeah, I'm definitely in download mode:
(on screen right now)
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SM-T800
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Secure Download: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0x0000)
AP SWREV: A1
[Picture of Android icon]
Downloading...Do not turn off target
So, that bit is sorted out
UPDATE: I did not have my SD card in the tablet before...now I put it in and I got the "USB devices not recognized"
I go to Device Manager, find the device with the yellow exclamation, right click,
"Update driver software"
"Browse computer for driver software:
Navigate to "Program Files/Samsung/USB Drivers"
The best software for your device is already installed
Any suggestions?
And again, apologies for sounding like a jerk before
"
UPDATE 2
OK, so I took another swig at it..
downloaded "Samsung USB Driver V1..5.59"
Rebooted
Opened ODIN
[Added]
Started reinstaling firmware
[Removed]
ODIN lost connection and I got the "USB device not recognized message" again
Used a cpl different ports, no change
I am wondering if maybe it is a battery issue at this point? Because as I stated before, I havent been able to turn the tablet off...
Either it is in download mode, or it is in "FIrmware upgrade encountered an issue" on screen
Thanks in advance

OK this looks like you have the driver installed so you shouldn't have the exclamation mark in device manager.
You can however install the driver manually.
Right click the device with exclamation mark, choose browse my computer, let me pick from a list of drivers. Look for Samsung Mobile CDC composite device, click next.
Driver should now install.
There are several reasons for the USB not recognized error. Most common is a bad USB cable, bad USB port or driver conflicts.
Ensure the ports are native and not an add-on card.
I suggest a completely different cable first.
Whatever happens don't move the device or cable when flashing.
Also get some charge in the device with the stock charger.
If you still get issues installing the stock Firmware then I suggest trying to install my latest build of TWRP.
With this we have more options and can install the stock Firmware with it.
Thanks for response
Ok, I used a totally different laptop and ODIN worked fine, I dunno what the deal was...but now i have a different problem...
I seem to be stuck in a "Wifi Turning on..." loop
The Wifi never comes on though
I have seen other posts about this, but they all seems to come back to " factory reset" (which I did two more times today) or verify the date on the device (which I have also done)
Is it possible to download a radio image ONLY? Because I am wondering if that is the problem....

Most likely a baseband issue.
You need to use the correct firmware for your device and region.
Did you flash the whole firmware?
Yeah, downloaded the whole firmware
Couldn't find version for USA proper...ended up using XEF (which is France I think)
Build number LRX22G.T800XXU1BOCC (Lollipop)

USA is XAR(Cellular South)

Ah, I didn't think I should use that one since my tablet is the WiFi model, not the LTE model
But I will give it a shot!
Thanks!

Ah. The "Cellular South" part threw me off
Unfortunately, still didn't work as far as getting the WiFi and Bluetooth working.
I refrlashed the firmware
Did a cpl factory resets
Still nothing
I'm thinking I should root it and see if some file permissions are screwed up or something. ..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using XDA-Developers mobile app
UPDATE: I rooted with CF AutoRoot and installed Custom recovery TWRP
did another factory reset
and still no Wifi/Bluetooth
I'm out of ideas at this point....

Did the wifi work before you obtained this device?
If all partitions flashed successfully then the wifi should be working.
What is your baseband build number reported as in settings?
Also check your IMEI no.
If that is the default IMEI instead of the original then someone may have trashed the EFS partition.
By the way are you certain this is a t800 and not a t805 or t807?
The Wifi went out a few days ago, tried a factory reset first
Then I remembered the last time this happened I did a firmware re-flash to fix it
It was during the re-flash where I ran into problems and I came to the forum.
I attached a screenshot. Model definitely SM-T800, but no IMEI and no Baseband build...
Thanks!

Baseband probably doesn't show because it's wifi only model.
However it's strange there is no Status page.
You can get this info using an app called Samsung phone info on play.

Ironically, with no WIfi access...hahahahaa....
I will try to find the apk and sideload it
I sideloaded the Samsung phone info app...
Attached screenshots of the tablet info
What's immediately apparent is no IMEI number. This is a problem.
Is your EFS folder accessible?
I tried and the error is: "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software".
The phone don't entry in mode recovery and the download mode, I tried many times...
The software (Smart Switch PC) does not recognize the phone.
Can anybody help me!

THis happend to me a while back and it is easy to fix. All you have to do is close Odin. Then restart odin and load the correct files into each of the slots - then plug your phone into the USB/PC - you should see the phone connect in Odin - then just click start and run ODIN to update the files you added to the slots in odin.
When you get that error message, the phone is technically still in download mode and odin will still recognize the phone and allow you to update using the files for your phone. Be sure you are using the correct firmware - be sure you add each of the files into the appropriate slot.
Good Luck.

What version of Odin are you using? What version N10+ do you have? Where did you get the firmware from? I have seen downloads that were corrupt and needed to be redownloaded. Make sure when you extract it it’s the right firmware for your phone as well. Report back and I’m sure we can help you. These phones are tough to brick.

Thank you, but I took earlier today at Samsung, there they solved the problem and even changed the battery. The biggest problem is that I wasn't entering the download screen anymore, I don't know what magic they did ...
Adm close the topic okay, Thank you

sometimes it is best to just leave the topic and post going - other people might have a similar problem - read the post - see what others have said and find that they can fix their phone. In the post right after the one you said to ask Admin to close the thread, someone else posted a thank you because they discovered they could fix their phone. Proof that sometimes it is best to just let it go - if no one reads it - it will fade out all on it's own. Just a thought.
