Is there any way to increase the number of volume steps for media on S9 (Exynos, no root etc) w/Android 9? On Android 8 Samsungs' SoundAssistant app did the job perfectly, but since upgrading to Android 9 the app doesn't seem to work any longer, that is, it allows me to increase the number of volume steps but the changes doesn't have any effect in the actual volume steps leaving me stuck with the coarse dedault scale which sucks big time.
In case someone else should end up wondering about the same thing, the reason for SoundAssistant not working didn't have anything to do with Android 9. I have the PowerAMP app installed, and in the settings of this app it has a feature that tries to let the app override the system volume slider and settings, so as soon as this was disabled the volume settings from Samsungs' SoundAssistant were working again, so might be there was an update to the PowerAMP app that suddenly didn't want to cooperate with the volume settings from the Samsung app. Anyway, problem solved.

Sometimes I accidently turn ringer volume down low (not mute) and miss an important call.
I’ve found apps such as Ringer Volume (Android-Lab) to reset it at given times, however they all wants ‘full Internet access’ don’t know if I like that with an app that will be constantly running and with my limited data allowance?
Another option would be a taskbar icon showing my volume level; however I cannot find any such widget.
It’s not mute that give me the problem it’s when I decrease the Ring Volume sometimes by accident when holding my Desire HD, with CyanogenMod 7.
Anyone got any suggestions on this?
there's an app called Settings Profile that u can set rules to do stuff, so u can set a rule to keep invoking a certain profile at whatever interval you want. The Lite version can only set 1 rule so I am not sure if that's good enough for you or not.
Hi Lukesky, thanks for taking the time to help.

I think I had looked at Setting Profiles before but just had another look and my concern with it is that it takes Full Internet Access, perhaps I’m being paranoid but I only have 20Mb of data per day and then the price per Mb goes up dramatically, let alone when I’m roaming, OK I know I could turn Data off if I wanted. So do you think the Lite App will be using data via its internet access?
here u go buddy...its simple quick and fast.... i use it all the time and place as widget
Thanks Lalitehgal, I appreciate your help however unless I’m mistaken this widget has no option for an auto timed volume increase, and my problem is I sometimes do not realize I have decreased the volume while holding the phone.
@richardsoffice: in my opinion you should definitely not be required to adjust ringtone or notification volume manually. Because once - in office - you are satisfied, but then - on the street - you just don't hear anything. The phone should adjust the ringtone volume automatically based on ambient noise and phone position (pocket/out of pocket/table/...). Check out an app called IntelliRing.
Manually adjusting ringtone volume does not do any harm if your ringtone volume is managed by IntelliRing. So you can accidentally adjust volume as you want
Hello,
I have Gnex GSM version, bought from Amazon.de.
I have the latest official firmware 4.0.2, received it promptly.
Today i was at the hospital, to see a person dear to me, and i put the phone on silent. The phone would increase the volume by itself.
It did not go crazy or sumth, however it would not stay silent.
I tried turning off the data network (3g/2g) as the [repeating] change between all data speeds seemed to trigger it (though i cannot tell for sure).
This did not fix things.
What eventually SEEM to have fixed the problem was quiting from the app i have running called LLama (this is an app which according to your location/signal [NOT GPS] performs certain actions and events such as profile changes.).
Conclusion? is this the volume bug? why is it still there if that is the case?!
I am annoyed and looking for help as i know there are a lot of experts here.
Thanks
Regards,
Llama has an option to disable volume buttons, which is useful to prevent profile changes when you press a volume button. You can manually choose another profile (silent) or disable that feature in Llama settings - Disable volume buttons.
I'm looking for an app that locks individual volume settings. I have AudioManager Pro and while it does have lock volume feature setting, it locks everything. Honestly, I just wish to lock the system and ringer volumes. I keep pressing the volume keys when I grip the phone so I keep messing w/ my preferred settings. I tried AM Pro's lock setting but since it locks everything so times like when I'm on a call and wish to change the volume I have to change it via the AM Pro app or unlock the volume settings from the app. Other times are when I'm playing games and wish to change the volume. As you can see, it gets annoying. I've already emailed the AM Pro devs requesting the feature but was wondering if anyone is using or know of any app that locks individual volume settings. TIA!
Hi everyone,
Its my first post here. I've been facing a weird bug when I try to increase volume when earphones are plugged in. The volume wont increase and the phone would go blank for a moment to a point when it asks to enter your pin for for additional security. I can decrease the volume though.
When I plug off the earphones I can increase the volume without any issue.
I'm on latest 3.2.2 Oxygen OS. July 1, 2016 being the security patch date.
Is anyone else facing this issue?
this is the headphone high volume warning.
This means that you don't have the popup warning you that high volume can damage your ear.
You may have installed something that interfere with the pop up message.

You might have solved the issue by now. However, this is for all those who are still searching -
- Go to settings > apps
- Click the gear icon
- Click on "Special access" under Advanced (last option in the list)
- Click on "Draw over other apps"
- Click the overflow menu (3 dots)
- Click on "Show system apps"
- Go to "System UI"
- Enable the permission there
- You can also do the same for other system apps
So out of no where my phone has just been lowering randomly every 5 to 10 mins and it's definitely not a faulty volume button it sets it to an exact level every single time. Also when connected to Bluetooth in my car instead of lowering volume it changes to only the left channel speakers working till I reset Bluetooth. So idk how to fix this
Some crazy app?

Ultimately, you'll have to find the app and deal with it (if I'm right that it is an app).
