I read on another thread that you basically lose it because it is stored on the nfc...everyone there saying the same too when they exchanged phones..

That can't be right. When you reset Google Wallet, the amount disappears unless you sign back up again. The credit is stored in an account.
That said, I don't see a way to get Money Market to cough up your funds other than by using Google Wallet.

I had network issues restoring mine yesterday and it gave me a phone number. I had no reason to save it since it worked fine when I had connection, but if you start to restore the card then turn on airplane mode, it should pop out the same phone number

If the money you have left is money that you added to the google prepaid card, then:
Call money market, they will ask you for the prepaid card number, which I don't think you saved. But you can also give them the Order # from when you added funds funds (you can find it in the receipt that they emailed you).
I'm pretty sure they can refund it to you somehow.
Note: To identify yourself, they will ask you from your name to how many times a day you take a crap.
I know all this because this is how I transferred previous balance from a returned phone to the new one.
Good luck.
It makes sense you can't keep it. That 10 wasn't just for free, it was to use Google wallet, since you have a phone that cannot use Google wallet now, the terms of the promotion no longer applies to you and you don't get to keep the money. Seems fairly straight forward. Not trying to be an ass btw

Exactly I could care less about the 10$ than can take it from the amount I got on that card. Am a try calling them and see what they can so. 80$ lost would make me furious.

this is the only way to solve it. Simply call them and explain what's going on. You aren't the first person to go through this, I'm sure it will work out fine.

I tried when I log into my Google wallet account on the computer the Google prepaid card is not there.
Well anyway I called Google wallet and they transferred me to money market I had to give them first 4 and last 4 digits of the card I used to load the prepaid than had to go thru identity check they need your full name, address and SSN#. They will send me a check in main with deducted 5$ fee for making the check I guess. The only thing it takes 45 to 65 days for it to come in mail. Now I can rest easy.

Hi,
I would like to purchase some apps to my daughter. But I don't want to configure Google Wallet in her cell phone. Can you please advise a way to purchase an app for someone else's phone?
Thanks for any advice.
Google gift cards. I haven't seen any in the wild yet, but I haven't really looked either.

Or buy a prepaid visa or amex.

Yeah, gift cards or prepaid credit cards are probably the least unwieldy solutions.
Another option: temporarily attach your CC to her Google account, buy the apps, and then remove the CC from her account. This way she should be able to get updates in the future but won't be able to initiate in-app purchases.

Q1. Which prepaid credit card do you advice? That's a good idea, I'll give her this for xMas. Is there any expiry in this system? (Must spend all funds before X days?)
Q2. In the mean time, I would like to take advantage of the 75% discount of the 25 billions campaign in Google Market which is running currently. Can you describe how to attach my CC to her Google account? Did you mean my existing Google Wallet or should I sign up her own Google Wallet but using my CC card? Afterward, how to remove?
EDIT: Please forget. I just tried to buy with her Google account, the Google Wallet form pops up, I signed up with my CC. I see in Google Wallet that it is possible to delete the CC info any time. So I think Q2 is now fully answered.
Sorry for all these silly questions. Hope you don't mind to explain a little bit more. Thanks
Just noticed you're in Canada. We have a more limited selection of prepaid credit cards here - most come with extra fees.
Another thought - now that VISA debit is available in Canada, you may be able to attach a debit card of her own to her Google Wallet. Then it's her responsibility to not overspend her own money Just be wary of overdraft fees.

You can also put a pin on the credit card info so that you can prevent anyone from using it without permission. I have done that on all of my kid's phones without issue.

AHA, I knew there was a setting something like that but I'd forgotten where.
Nonetheless, I think if you attach your CC to her Google account, it still means that she can use her password to spend money with your card on the web Play Store in a browser. So that is not a perfect option.
You can attach a card to the play store, then secure it with a pin. This is what I do with my son. If he wants to get a game or purchase any add ons for his games he has to come to me and or mom in order to proceed. It works great. I also get and email notification for any purchases he makes so I'm always in the loop.

Yabbut the PIN is on-device, not attached to the account globally. If you put your card on his Google account I'm pretty sure he can still log into play.google.com and make purchases without your PIN.

No any purchases in that play store account requires the use of the pin, if child doesn't have pin child can't purchase. If child finds work around and a way to crack it then parent has bigger problem than child buying apps.

Just tried it. I assigned a Play Store PIN to my GNex and checked that it must be used for purchases. Then I logged in from my laptop in the web browser, and purchased a 25 cent app to be sent to the same GNex. The purchase went through.
It would seem they need to implement PINs on the *server* end of the Play Store, not client.
Heck I went into settings and cleared Play Store data and that removed the purchase PIN too. This is clearly an honour system.
Pay for an app for someone as a gift. Or kids devices
You get two choices when you accept to buy an app on the device you want to install app on. You can pay or there is an option to send URL for payment to whoever via email. So send URL to yourself or whoever is going to pay via email which will auto pop up when you select... Send URL... .. I send to my Gmail account then click link on pc or phone and follow instructions to pay . Easy
Yesterday (Oct 2nd), I hurried myself to the nearest T-Mobile store to pick my up a Note 3. I gave my older Note 2 to my wife.
A little history: I was kinda bummed that ISIS taken away the pre-paid feature, and now only works with American Express (not the pre-paid version) and Chase bank.
I knew Google Wallet recently updated it's app to include most devices, however not the NFC tap-and-pay payment feature, which only works for Nexus and a few other selected devices.
However,
This morning, after downloading the Google Wallet app, it's seems I'm able to use the NFC feature for payments, like I did with ISIS. Also, I'm able to add money to my Wallet, and also send money to others.
Can someone else verify this tap-and-pay feature using NFC through Google Wallet?
Thanks,
It doesn't work for me

Coming from the note 3 it was disabled. I was able to add a credit card on my note 4 and tap and pay is enabled and ready. Has anyone tried it on this phone? Im at work so I cant test it out, but it seems as if verizon lets you use either softcard or wallet now?
Wallet works fine. Use it nearly every day. Even on Verizon.

Thank for confirming this. Might actually start using it now!
So if you have Google wallet and your wallet account balance is at 0.00. I tap and pay using my linked debit card. Do I have to pay the 3.9% fee for that transaction?
Never mind. Went to a few places to try them out. Unless softcard has a promotion I'll be using Google wallet. Plus I get a better transaction history using Google wallet vs softcard and the amex serve card.
Just an fyi.
How is it live and it still won't take my chase card
Just tested non nfc transaction with an Amex card and it was awesome!
Open the Samsung Pay app, you would get an update. Yes it is live! Didn't try adding my Chase card though, it wasn't working in Beta!
Couldn't add my cards, guess ill wait to see which banks are supported.
Yeah it wouldnt take any of my cards either. If this only supports a few specific cards then it is going to be pretty pointless. Discover/capital one visa/centris bank. None of mine seem to be supported :/ Bummer, I was all excited when it popped up active on my phone this evening.
Here's a list of banks supported for now (Visa / Master / AmEx):-
- AmEx
- BOFA
- CITI
- USBank
- Synchrony
Source - http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/samsung-pay
Definitely a bummer as I can't add my Chase which i use on daily basis.
However, I could use my AmEx Corp. which I was unable to add in Beta! If they have come out with such a feature, I'm assuming they have plans to add more banks. The sooner the better!
Yeah none of my cards are supported, sucks I was looking forward to using this. Hope way more get supported otherwise if this is all its really not gunna go anywhere. Oh well I'm used to features not working for me or not being supported.

Also, if you register your phone for Samsung Pay, Samsung is having a promotion in which you get a free wireless charger (non fast I think. Could be wrong) or the wallet cover. Too bad Verizon users don't have Samsung Pay...sigh...

Whats the difference between Samsung Pay and Android Pay? I've been using Android Pay for about 2 weeks and works great.
Wasn't installed on my Verizon version of the Edge + so I side loaded the APK and it says server is unavailable at this time.

With android pay you only can pay with nfc terminals and with Samsung pay you can pay without nfc if you want and use on a magnetic card reader. If you just place your device next to it.

You should have the Samsung Pay app on your phone, assuming you have the galaxy s6 edge+ or another compatible phone.

Android Pay didn't work for me, when I try to add the card google play services crashes. But the difference is that on Samsung pay you can use both nfc and the old terminals that you swipe your cards. They also say it is more secure than Android Pay.

Luckily I had an AmEx which worked! They definitely need to add support for rest of the banks otherwise it would be a waste for such a nice feature!

Good to know. The other difference is that Android Pay replaces Google Wallet if you have loyalty and gift cards. In my case I have to keep Android Pay for that reason. but I've already used Samsung Pay about five times. Very easy. And I submitted my request for the free wireless charger.
Anyone know when they will support more than 4 banks?
