There is no thread for this information. Can a real xa1 ultra user tell me how to downgrade this device to nougat rom .( i dont have root ,its on stock oreo ). tried before but device locked itself and its hardbricked .no flashmode etc. a service solved it for around 50$.
WARNING- i found the solution, in flashtool just dont check CUST RESET button cuz its formatting bootloader and hardbricking device. if any "mtk sony" user reading this pls dont forget. cuz only jtag can solve this and its imposible to do it urself
Hi,
try this guide, it should work (Link)
EDIT: After some reading it's maybe better to do it with flashtool as XA1 series are MediaTek devices and then some fsc script is needed to avoid hard brick.
Firmware can be downloaded with XperiaFirm if version you want is available on Sony servers.
Thanks for message but. Did u downgrade ur xa1 ultra before?.Cuz i tried flashtool downgrade before and its bricked device . And that thread looks like upgrade or reflash same version.im thinking this mtk phone different from others for downgrading
No I didn't try but I think only difference with mtk devices is in script that is needed during flash.
Did you try the latest flashtool version? It seems that fsc script is added in latest version.

Hey there, I have someone who locked themselves out of their Rogers Sony Xperia Arc and I'm trying to hard reset the device to remove the code and make the phone usable for them again.
Unfortunately as I've done my research it looks more and more like these branded phones can't be put in to fastboot mode so I can't unlock the bootloader. I've attempted to over ride the drivers, I've plugged the device in while off and held menu and I get a green/yellow LED indicator instead of the blue one I need, and have no access to the actual device itself when turned on due to the screen lock.
Can anyone help? I have the FastBoot folders and the USB drivers (x86 and x64) downloaded and ready to go as well as the key.

I can't access the recovery menu to put it in to download mode. I must apologize if I sound like I don't know what I'm doing. I've never dealt with a Sony device before. Most of my experience is Samsung with a little HTC.
Could you explain what you mean a little bit better? Maybe link a tutorial? I'd be much obliged.

The Flashtool is simply what it says on the tin, it's a tool that flashes Firmware to your device in a similar manner as SEUS or PC Companion does except the Flashtool requires .ftf files which can be downloaded from your devices General or Development forum. This is generally the preferred method for Repairing your Phone if SEUS or PC Companion aren't an option or you just prefer not to use them. You can also use the Flashtool to flash a Generic .ftf to your device which will remove any Operator Branding from your device.
This video by BlueChipJ explains the process of using the Flashtool...
...or you can use (specific Phones only) the Official Sony Flash Tool. See maxio1998's thread for more info - [TOOL]Official Sony Flash Tool | Unlocked Devices

Search around the forum, there's plenty of tutorials out there. Also do some research before you do anything to your phone. Don't try it if you cannot understand the instructions.

At sony's logo?
Then you dont have an unlock bootloader, and you can't install any CM based ROM.
Use the pc companion or whatever software recommended on those tutorials to flash an original firmware form sony and bring "back to life" your phone. I don't know if you need to root your phone again (it disappear)
Thanks guys flashing it worked...just needed to wipe cache thanks
I flash a sotck rom in xperia m5 and I didnt exclude the simlock file, in the processes says "warng: simlock.ta ignored", now the phone is asking me for a sim network unlock Pin, what i can do??
and flashing with flashtool worked???

you can try flushing generic ftf,i'm not 100% sure that might help but if the flash tool is working you can try that,or try to use xperia companion " repair phone" option that might flash your old original firmware.if you SI/CDA code isn't changed
If your phone survived you should celebrate. Currently Flashtool is not compatible with Xperia M5 and there's a very high chance of getting your phone bricked in case you try to use Flashtool with it...
EDIT: just noticed a new version of Flashtool was released (0.9.20.0). Has anyone tried flashing Xperia M5 with it?
EDIT 2: I just tried and indeed it works! Make sure you're using Flashtool 0.9.20.0 or newer and answer yes when it asks if you would like to use the .fsc script (otherwise you may brick your device). In some cases you may get errors during flashing (like "processing of xxxx.sin ended with errors"), to fix that, use a lower value for the "Max USB buffer" setting (512K seems to work flawlessly)...

I had an error flashing Xperia M5, don't ask for fsc and say boot.sin or something like that have an error. I disconnected my Xperia from the PC and I can't turn it back or put it in flashtool. What can I do now?. I have flashtool (0.9.20.0). and I have auto sync.
Sorry for my bad english.
If you didn't use the .fsc file when Flashtool asked and can't enter in Flash Mode anymore I'm afraid your device bricked and now only Service Center can help...

Flashtool don't asked for .fsc file, anyway I sent my Xperia to sat.
Now the question, Will I lose my warranty? I hope not.

Then you didn't sync your Flashtool devices database at least once before flashing. The bundling of a .fsc script for M5 was something done recently, you may need to trigger the devices sync manually, but that should be done before flashing, otherwise Flashtool won't ask if you want to use the .fsc script.

If your bootloader was still locked, then no, your warranty is intact. If you have unlocked your bootloader, your mileage may vary, it depends of the Service Center policy. Mine, for example, I messed its boot partition while I was trying to get TWRP working with our device, I had to send it to Service Center (here in Brazil) and they still repaired it under warranty, even with the bootloader unlocked. But on the other hand I also heard of people who lost warranty because of the unlocked bootloader...
So bricking my device with flashtool won't void warranty?
Sent from my Xperia M5 E5603 using XDA-Developer premium
Hi Everyone,
I had successfully flash FTF on my M5, with different CDA from Hongkong to Philippines.
I had to do that since Hongkong variant which is certainly the phone variant with Shutdown &
other annoying issues. Hence Sony made it slow to update.
And luckily I succeed in flash B.46 then manually updated it to B.55.
Conclusion: if you had issues on delay updates. better change it with different variant.
PS. Better have backup of your data first.

As long as your bootloader is locked, no, because even an official OTA has a minimal risk of bricking your device (e.g. if your battery dies during the update). Also, Flashtool uses the same protocol as the official Sony solutions (Xperia Companion/Update Service), so, it's almost impossible to discover if the device was flashed with an official solution or with Flashtool (even more now that it supports .fsc scripts)...

That's placebo. The random shutdown issues are related to battery lock, which is a HW issue, so, a unit with the battery lock issue would still randomly shutdown no matter what firmware region/variant you flash to it.

Yeah you're right, but based on the released date, on which case they release it first on Chinese market before the shutdown issue was known, Sony had the chance to recall the batches released for other markets, i.e. Philippines.
Anyway this was just a hypothesis and i was able to conclude, still the issue persist, but the performance goin better since before.
Cheers mate!

I am about to use Flashtool 0.9.22.3 to flash official loli pop rom to my softbricked Xperia M5. I saw some tutorials which guide to flash M5, but they do not mention about the .fsc script. Do I have to worry about it further more? Here is the link for a tutorial http://www.modifyandroid.com/stock-roms/sony/how-to-flash-stock-rom-for-sony-xperia-m5-dual-e5663/
And also, do I need to unlock the boot loader in order to use FlashTool?

So will flashing the rooted kernal for marshmallow work with this and a locked bootloader or nope?
Well latest 0.9.25.0 has left M5 (E56XX series) out for selection somehow.
Due program i wanted to run, did not worked , gonna flash back to 6.0.1, but after closing bootloader, unfortunately Sony has made a f-up trap with IMEI based bootloader unlocking - it saves data, and later , even if bootloader locked u get sorry bootloader has once unlocked, uräe not egible for updates or something similar.
Without M5 selection in list creating a FTF is impossible sort of.

Ok, than trim area is unbricked. Now you need to create another file set to use with s1tool! Sorry I am not mpre active here and forgot many things related to s1tool, search for info in Z forum section here (you need to create unbrick file set with rest of firmwares: bootchain aka gpt, sbl...etc, extract it from an ftf and see z forum for details for how to make it). Good thing is your phone is not dead since trim area is not damaged! When there is ta damaged than apsolutly there is no way uploading anything to phone, in your phone its not happened since you sucesfully restores trim area! Just search xda and you will repair yor phone I am sure. I am not at pc now but if I get more free time tommorow I will look into my hard drive, maybe I have that fileset already
Edit:
Why you use fastboot? You need to use flashmode with flastool to reflash the rest! If not help see above

I can see that you processed almost everything sucesfully, only I can see one strange thing for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3710819&stc=1 (open ta failed during amami s1 boot config misc ta which opens ta partition 02 and writes unit 84f, it failed on picture you posted) but on your seccond log it opened that unit sucesfully and writen sucesfully http://dl-1.va.us.xda-developers.co....txt?key=_of7CAzF8IDcA5WgkkHbnQ&ts=1460289839 (07.04.2016 17:34:23 Writing TA var 0002/084F/0049). Also strange - SKIPED partition sin file http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...al/z1-compact-hardbirck-t3352618/post66211351 (what about if your partition is messed up? And since this skiped...?). You done most of things sucesfully probably you are so close for success, try to repat some of the 2 steps (try to change order, for example try flash one than seccond file set, or try to flash seccond fileset first than first fileset), and also try to add all sin files from an ftf to the amami_testpoint.SIN_FILE_SET by replacing existing and try to flash again. Curently I am out of idea... let me see your log if you see any error!
Allso you can try for example something like this:
step 1. start flashtool and start flashing an ftf, than till after flashtool ask you for entering your phone into flash mode, do step 2 (use s1tool with empty file set, just for enter your phone into flashmode)
step 2. (in case flashtool waiting your phone bootloader mode) run s1tool and upload an empty fileset, phone will go into flashmode and flashtool will start flashing ftf to your phone
Let me know

No need since you already done amami_testpoint.SIN_FILE_SET ! You are so close and something very small is missing. Read this page for rest!
You probably need to flash TA_unbrick.SIN_FILE_SET and after that flash amami_testpoint.SIN_FILE_SET
@munjeni thanks i try tomorrrow
i try amami testpoin after unbrick file flash but dont work. How can i try to add all sin files from an ftf to the amami_testpoint.SIN_FILE_SET and you say upload an empty fileset on step 2 what is it
İ use cm12. 1 before brick. I install cm and next Day Phone dont Open. İ think flash all.sin file from ftf my phone work. What do you think @munjeni
Yes! Use 7z for opening fileset! Also probably your phone is not hardbricked, instead its soft bricked. I have no other ideas sorry, only which I think is you need to reflash your phone using flashtool or sony flashtool, and also somehow your usb driver is messed and not allow you to enter your phone into flashmode? Try your phone to connect into flash mode on an live linux distribution (e.g. Ubuntu) to be sure usb drivers is not problem on your windows machine. Or maybe you used s1tool without removing battery? It must be done without battery! For flashtool battery is need! Hope you know that already. No other ideas, sorry.
i flash ta_unbrick and all ftf files but dont work please look my log @munjeni
i cant flash loader.sin how can i do it? It gives err:0017
Hello, i'm writing this post because i'm a noob on mobiles and i need some assistence in this scenario.
I have a xa1 that was stopped at home because it had terrible calibration problems. This year i remembered to root and flash this mobile, maybe it was the build that was having some compatibility issues.
For now i have successfully unlocked the bootloader but when doing an instructon installing the twrp program on the device, i may have done something wrong.
From what i understand, twrp is a backup/recovery user gui to make some actions easier.
i think i ****ed up and now the phone is on bootloop and i cant even go into recovery mode.
i did not move the twrp.img to the folder i was working on and still pressed enter on the "fastboot boot twrp.img" step.
I understand that i may have told the phone "hey use this img that doesnt exist" and now its standarized to launch from that img i told him? is that it?
I have adb and fastboot installed. I had them both recognizing the device, no problem until i did that step earlier, and now adb doesnt recognize the device anymore. I thought i could maybe get the standart boot.img(if that even exists) from some forum but this is getting waaay hairier that i thought.
Don't worry, it normal that the phone has bootloop after unlocked. You should flash stock rom again via Flashtool, for the firmware you could still download it from xperiafirm I guess, after reflash the stock rom your device will work just fine and you could download my twrp here which I build for XA1 Plus but a friend of mine have it working on XA1 Ultra just fine, if you need any more help on TWRP just DM me or ask in my thread
