Hi,
I just did my first build of LineageOS 15.1 with the 2018-01-15 source code. Now I wanted to update my system, which is the last official built.
I can install the file (either the normal install file or the OTA file, which seem to be the same) in TWRP, but afterwards most of my Apps crash all the time. Wiping the Dalvik cache didn't help.
Is there a proper way to update my system?
I installed to install the linegeos recovery but it wouldn't start.

I updated LineageOS from 13.0-20170527-nightly-mondrianwifi to 13.0-20170603-nightly-mondrianwifi on my Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 8.4.
Everything worked well to download and install the new version.
But Gapps disappeared and I had to reinstall it. And of course, build my home screens again. Do I do something wrong or is it normal for updating this OS?
I am new to LineageOS so I have no previous experience.
It depends. You did a "clean install", wiping system, data - which is usually the safe way.
If the upgrade is minor (as in your case...) - no need to wipe system. Just install it (no need to reinstall gapps) and wipe cache, dalvik.
Hello everyone,
I have flashed and dirty flashed, installed twrp and others for years for my different phones. But this Oneplus 3 seems different.
I flashed TWRP 3.1.1-0 to it and then LineageOS official 2017-05-something, after that the Magisk 13.0 and then OpenGapps aroma. This was done with a full phone wipe (system, data, dalvik cache, internal storage, cache).
But, afterwards I noticed that whenever I installed an updated build of LineageOS, or ANY other zip, the system would act as if a full factory reset was performed! This never happened before with Cyanogenmod or any of my previous phones.
This makes updating LineageOS super tedious - as after EVERY nightly I update I have to log into my Google account, install Titanium backup and restore all apps and their settings.
Could anyone give me a hint on whether I have missed something in moving my flashing habits from Cyanogenmod to LineageOS era?
There were reports, that the official TWRP has some problems and wipes data, when installing a zip.
I think this is the issue with TWRP.
Install the unofficial build from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on.../recovery-official-twrp-oneplus-3-3t-t3543391
or use TWRP from blu_spark here:

Well - this explains everything! Thank you so much cl0g for this hint!
Need some help
Today I check if there was new updates for my system lineage 16. There was two new updates, on of 26-04 and another of 27-04. After choosing to update lineage 16 to the last version of 27-04 using the updater in settings, the system doesn't boot anymore and goes always to recovery twrp 3.2.3.
Tried to wipe dalvick and cache but with no effect.
Unfortunately I didn't do a backup before updating.
I noticed when the system was updating it simply rebooted itself without showing any information of update installed successfully.
What can I do to go back to previous version? Is there a way to reverse the update without installing again the ROM and lose my data and installed apps?
Before the update everything was working well.
The device is a Pocophone.
Thanks.
Hi XDA!
I want to install this ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-10-0-gauguin-lineageos-17-1.4224633/
I did all the necessary steps:
Copy the ZIP onto my SD card
Boot into TWRP (already installed)
Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> I wiped Dalvik/ART Cache, Cache, Data
Install -> select LineageOS ZIP
After install I went to Wipe -> Format Data
After data format I rebooted into system
After all these steps it just boots into recovery. I also tried with NikGapps, but that gave me error 255 when formatting Data so I will NOT install any GApps (I also don't need them).
What am I doing wrong here? I have already flashed LineageOS on my Redmi Note 7, so these steps should work.
Thanks for any help

This rom requires you to be on android 10 stock MIUI firmware
Either flash that first or if you want to remain on stock MIUI android 11 firmware choose a different custom rom that is based on Android 11 stock firmware
Note an android 11 custom rom can still be based on stock MIUI android 10 firmware/vendor so don't get confused!
Read the first post fully and it will tell you what firmware is required
And if you want gapps I would use open gapps nano version

Hi guys im a little bit confuse on how to flashed gapps on lineage 18.1. im using unofficial twrp and then it successfully flashed but when it boot i cant see google apps and cant use default sms and call
hi, recently installed the los 18.1, first in twrp on wipe menu use format data, and reboot to bootloader, next you can install the rom and the gaaps and its done, i recommend not restoring a backup or anything other than the rom and the gaaps.
In my experience most of the problems that installing roms on this device were due to the encryption of the phone (dm-verity dm-enforce, etc)
