Hello guys, newbie here.
Forced update to Pie thru VPN. Wi-Fi keeps turning on by itself even when WiFi is off. I don't have my home network saved so it doesn't connect, but it's still turning on automatically. It messes up my data connection.
here are the settings I've disabled:
1 WiFi Preferences > Turn on Wi-Fi automatically > OFF
2 WI-FI scanning > OFF
PLEASE HELP!!!

Everytime I turn Wi-Fi on on my Blue Angel, the network profile for connecting to the Internet is changed back to My ISP.
I have to go back to Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Network, and choose my custom profile for the Internet connection. Once I turn off Wi-Fi and back on, it goes back to My ISP (Same happens when you turn off the PDA while keeping Wi-Fi on).
Anyone experiencing the same issue and/or has a solution?
This may be totally irrelevant to your problem, but you could try running the 'welcome.exe' app. This has been known to 'reset' connections back to a firm working condition (see previous posts - search for welcome.exe).
Just a thought
Thanks. I'll try that when I'm home although it seems a lil irrelevant because my profiles are working, but they're being incorrectly chosen.
Could that be because I have more than 1 profile that connects me to the Internet?
I connect to Wi-fi Line with Internet, but when i Sign In the messenger dont connect to wi-fi net and turn-on the gprs or 3G
try go to:
settings -> connections -> connections -> advanced -> select networks -> change the "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:" to "My Work Networks"
If you want to use GPRS, revert the setting back.
Thanks... Work good

Hmmzz... this doesn't work for me.
When I'm connected to Wi-Fi and I do the setting you describe, I get the error message as shown in the attachment when I want to sign in with Windows Live Messenger. Suggestions?
Something else: when still connected to Wi-Fi and I just leave the connection settings the way they where, and I sign in with Messenger, the Messenger wants to connect by GPRS/3G (the known thing).
But when I then quickly press "Cancel" (or press cancel a few times when one time isn't enough) in the GPRS/3G connection popup, the connection build up will stop and Messenger WILL actually sign me in, seemingly using Wi-Fi.
Do you think I can assume it's really using Wi-Fi and not the cellular connection, since there's NO GPRS/3G connection icon in the top bar at that moment?
If there is no GPRS/3G connection on top bar, it's using a Wifi.
Your prob similiar to my girlfriend's Hp 6828, Just make sure you setting for connection to your hotspot is setted to connect to internet, not to connect to work. and try to set the setting first then connect your wifi. My GF's 6828 prob solve by it.
Strange isn't it?
Then let me know...

How do you enable auto wifi on startup or auto search for hotspots?
Like to have the phone connect automatically ecah time its within network range.
What's needed to allow "auto" hotspot connections so the phone connects automatically when in hotspot range?
Thanks

think you would just have to add that hotspot...then leave your wifi on which will kill your battery...when it detects that hotspot it should auto connect

if you want to constantly search for hotspots with a wifi finder, you're going to eat thru battery like crazy. The constant searching and findin no signal will suck your juice.
Starting on startup is a matter of placing a link to start it in windows\startup . Depending on how the app starts, it may need a script to assist with the startup.
I didn't find any solution in the search results. Maybe you can help:
When I enable Wifi, and waiting for connection nothing happens. When I go into Preferences -> Wifi -> Wifi-Settings, he starts to connect to my wlan.
Have a Fritz Box Wlan 3170 with WPA encryption and no mac-filter. My SSID is visible.
Do you have any idea?
I frequently work at a location with an AT&T hotspot. The problem is that when you connect to it, this particular location directs you to a terms of service accept page before it will give access.
Problem is that my S3 connects to the hotspot automatically, and since I don't accept the terms of service, my email will not sync.
Is there a way to keep the phone from connecting automatically to an AT&T hotspot? I try to long click the wifi settings for AT&T, but I don't have the option to delete it. (I am fine with it never connecting automatically to this particular hotspot)
Better yet, is there a way to allow automatic connections to certain hotspots/wifi networks and not others? For instance I want to automatically connect to work and home networks, but not automatically connect to others (clinets and AT&T)
Thanks!
