Question re phone contacts.
Just had a few contacts (vcards) and a couple have a home & Mobile numbers. when i choose PHONE some are defaults to the HOME number and some to the Mobile. all fine i guess.
question is how do you select the other associated number. not the primary one?
contact x: primary Landline.. secondary: Mobile.
How do i call the secondary number (the mobile).
also . what the advantage of PHONE contacts & Google contacts?
before i spend ages updating Google..lol.. would presume Google contacts would have more features?
ta
and back to playing...
I have only had this phone for ~1 week now, but just ran into an issue with bluetooth connectivity. I have paired my phone with my 2011 Jetta SE and have a successful connection. I can play music and receive calls just fine as well as make calls (but only by initiating it from the phone itself). I was able to voice dial once, but then never again. I have removed and re-paired the phone to the car multiple times. When I ask the voice dialer to read my contact list, it only comes back with a single contact called "My Name." And not my name, literally "My Name." It is my phone number attached to that contact as well, but doesn't exist on my phone, unless it is referring to "Me," the contact the phone book asked me to set up when I first used the phone. But besides that contact, I can't voice dial anyone, which makes things very difficult. I have't found any other cases where bluetooth only pulls this one contact. When I pair the devices, I do get the pop-up that the device I am connecting to wants access to my contacts, and I grant it. Any ideas?

I get this a lot to. I have a 2009 BMW X5 and have no trouble pairing the GNex to the vehicle, and grant the addressbook query. Everything works (I can see all my contacts and use them). Next time I get in the vehicle I may, or may not have contacts. The only way to fix is to delete the device and re pair. For some reason, the addressbook does not stick permanently. It's annoying. Running stock 4.04 with Franco's M3 kernel, but the same problem was there before I changed the kernel. Any suggestions?
Next Step?
Now I'm realizing that I can't really get rid of the connection profile for my car. Is there a specific system app I can clear data from to reset bluetooth? That is all I can think of trying at this point.
I know there is an option somewhere in Settings that allows you to display a customized message on the lockscreen - kind of an owner's message. Today I lost my phone (I've been to London twice and have lost my phone here each time) so I would like to display some contact info so the kind soul who finds my phone can contact me.
I don't know if it's a Verizon only thing but I can't find the option since I've swapped SIM cards.
Thanks for your help.
Disregard. The option is on my Nexus 7, not my phone. Sorry - jet lag speaking.
I'm liking the phone a lot but what bothers me the most is the dialer app. Is non responsive at times, you press a contact from any call log and it doesn't do anything until the third time you try it, now it got stuck into a recent calls log and I haven't found a way to go back, it's features are great, there are a lot of them (block list, recording...), I'm only missing it being smart as the Motorola dialer for dual sim where it automatically learned which line you preferred to call your contacts with and sim switch one you initiated a call.
Anyone having dialer issues too?
Thanks
With updates phone is almost perfect for me EXCEPT THE DAMN DIALER, I can't believe anyone else has this issues too. Basically you have to press 2-3 times over a contact so it will bring the sim selection screen, maybe very few people actually uses both sims? Is the last thing that bothers me with it.

Have you tried restarting the phone? Please ensure to update firmware and ASUS dialer app to latest version.
Sincerely,

Yes, phone is on 2.19, have done it since the beginning, recently wiped all data too, still same thing, you press a contact from the call history, it makes the click sound and all but does nothing, have to touch the contact two-three times more and then the sim selection screen comes, if you dont touch it again, it just stays there doing nothing, also after the first touch, the click doesn't sound anymore, even when it actually opens. I assume that the people that only has a one sim maybe don't see this.
I use 2 sims and I have never faced this issue.

Ok, found that issue worsens a lot with bluetooth active on the car, sometimes need to hit a contact 4-5 times.
Update, the issue was more frequently present when connected to car's Bluetooth but since 2.20.40.40 it's working as expected, sim selection screen takes 1-2 seconds to show but has come every time it has been requested. Good job.

I'm facing the same issue. It's irritating, need to touch 8-10 times or even more to make a call. Has anyone know the solution to it. Model No ASUS_Z010D. Just FYI, I have already updated to latest firmware & latest dialer, but issue persists.
Pls help

Problem syncing contacts
I’m having a heck of a problem trying to get my new Galaxy Watch (46 mm/non-LTE) to properly sync my contacts. I first realized that I had a problem when I tried to use Bixby to place a call from the watch. Sometimes I woul get the message “contacts syncing” . Sometimes I would get the message that the contact was not found.
I tried resetting the watch and the Samsung Wear app but that didn’t work. I read that turning off Bluetooth and trying to sync over Wi-Fi helped. However, I cannot tell if that is really helping. Some contacts do work while others (most) do not.
It would help to understand from what source the watch gets the contacts. For example does the watch attempt to sync with my Samsung account? Does it attempt to sync with the contacts that reside in the phone memory?
On my phone, I have the contact app set up such that it only displays my Google contacts and I use my Google account as the storage location. I wonder whether that is the problem and if I should somehow either save everything to my Samsung account or save everything physically to the phone.
Naturally, Samsung customer support was worse than useless. The first person I spoke to had me do the hard reset and when that did not work told me to take the watch to a local Service Center. I tried speaking to another support representative today. This one insisted that the Watch would not dial contact numbers from Bixby because it was not LTE.
Any insights?
Hi! It may seem stupid, but give it a try if you haven't already.
In the Galaxy wearable app, go to the tab 'settings' and then 'Applications'. Scroll down till you find the contacts and then check in the settings from where the contacts are synced. The default should be from the phone, so try changing to your google account.
If you already did this, then I don't know for now.
I have purchased the Pro version but I'm still not able to place a phone call (the app says something like "I can't make calls yet", same as the non-paid version. Tried to uninstall and reinstall but it didn't work.
