Was finally able to flash to CM12 but want to restore to a prior ROM.
Got into TWP and was able to excute the restore as desired. However when it reboot it sticks on the LG screen
If the up or down arrows are pressed it vibrates. Left it several min, and further progress.
Any help is much appreciated. Snarky repsonses are not needed.

Did you wipe everything (data, system, cache) before restoring your backup?

There was a device in the past that had the same problem I believe it was the Galaxy S2 but thats not relevant. anyway. once you updated to an experimental version of AOSP you had to flash the proper radio when you downgraded

The link below will give you detailed instructions on properly installing TWRP. If you're worried that you've messed something up. I'd use Xiaomi MiFlash to flash back to stock ROM. Then I'd follow the instructions in the link below to ensure I did everything properly. The link below also covers rooting and installing custom ROMS.

I did all the steps and the recovery mode is not showing up every time I boot to the recovery mode the phone either turns off or keeps looping.
After you flash TWRP, does it show the TWRP boot logo and then cut off? If so, as soon as the TWRP boot screen comes up, tap somewhere on the top of the screen. I had an issue for a while when booting into TWRP it would act like it was going to boot into TWRP and then it would just cut completely off. The workaround for this for me was to tap somewhere on the screen as soon as I seen the TWRP screen. Hope this helps you.

Hello. i have 2 phones with the same defect.
They remain on the word asus, and restart.
Continuous bootloop.
I can access the fastboot mode but not the recovery.
I downloaded the firmware from the asus website, but I can't flash via fastboot.
how can you solve it?
I add that I wish I could flash the original rom via fastboot, but being a zip format, it is not possible for me.
I also extracted the contents and flashed the file system (renamed changing the extension from "dat" to "img". But I got nothing.
I only get phone in fastboot.
Is there any .img format rom that you can flash, or the original recovery to be able to flash then through adb?
THANK'S you for excellent support

Exactly the same thing happened to me. It started a few months ago but it would complete the bootup after a while. Now it just stays on bootloop and nothing else except for being able to boot into fastboot but I can't flash recovery or anything from there so I don't know what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I was still using the phone but can't anymore from the looks of it.

Any luck? I tried flashing stock rom through fastboot. It flashed properly but the problem still persists. I also rooted this phone before so the bootloader is already unlocked. I tried to flash TWRP but still it cant boot to recovery and still boot loops. I've tried the flashing the RAW rom also through ASUS Flashtool, still same results. Its really sad, I really like this device for gaming. Its still performs better than my S9 plus. My s9 has some very aggressive throttling issues. I am beginning to think that the UFS storage chip is dead. I cant seem to flash anything on the memory.
