Fake screen? - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Questions & Answers

Recently I got my broken screen replaced by a shop who claims to use original parts. But I have my doubts if this is true. A couple of things are different:
- Missing grill in call speaker
- Blue colored sensors above screen
- Notification LED much brighter, and more blue/white instead of white.
I saw on AliExpress and eBay that the fake screens usually have the blue sensors and missing grill.
Can anyone tell if this is a fake screen? Or is it maybe just a screen from a different Xiaomi supplier?

White replacement housing

Quick question.. Have my phone all set up how i want, rooted and running nice and fast (thanks to the checkrom contributors).. But i recently suffered a minor accident and dropped my phone, got a cluster of mini chips in the front left bottom corner of the gunmetal bezel around the screen... So i looked into getting some replacement housing to go with my new case.. but was wondering, if i buy any of the white replacement housing (fancy a change given it wasn't out when i got mine on day one) off ebay or the rest of the net.. surely the replacements won't be gorilla glass based? and also some of the pictures of said cases don't seem to account for a change in colour for the middle part of the phone where the touch sensitive keys are...
Can anyone shed some light on how i could go about changing my black galaxy s 2 to a white one..?
White replacement housing comes with: BACK part & MIDDLE part. Plus: Bright silver speaker grill & screen bezel. Also: HOME, VOLUME & POWER Burton's are white.
Doesn't come with screen.
I don't see why a replacement WHITE LCD digitizer wouldn't be Gorilla Glass tho.

Yea my dog got at my phone, I'm considering getting a white housing but just keeping the black screen. My screen gaurd was toast but apparently gorilla glass vs dogs teeth = no scratch.

Good quality replacement screen

Hello all,
I would like to take a suggestion on where can I find a good quality replacement screen for my One X.
My screen is Sharp version (as so they say) with green flex cable. I tried couple of Chinese LCDs, but they either had washed out colors, or light leakages at the edges of the screen, or wrongly located (or totally missing) light guiding plates for the capacitive keys. I'm tired of trying and re-assembling my device.
I'm using my original screen at the moment, which is still the best option despite the bleached out spots on the corners and some edges.
etadesupply have official oem screen+digitizer (sony or sharp) parts for $40 but i don't know if the ship internationally
{edit} yes they do ship internationally.

Faint horizontal lines or mesh pattern on screen

Hello everyone
I bought an LG G4 last week and it had a clearly visible mesh pattern on the screen. It was most visible on white bright backgrounds. It was uniform over the whole screen. The funny part is you could also see it when the screen was off and there was a bright light shining on it.
I had it traded in at the shop and they agreed that it was a defect so they traded it in for another G4. This one has it too, but it's much less visible.
I have seen that the display models do not have this mesh thing at all even on the brightest setting. Some do some don't.
Does anyone else here see it? I have a serial number that starts with 511 if that matters.
I also have this problem. I have to see some display units because it may be the way that pixels are arranged. It those dispaly units are ok I am going to get a replacement.

Nexus 5X battery back cover colour vs body differences?

Hi,
Just wondering, is there any difference between the various Nexus 5X bodies / frames and the different battery cover colours? Is it just the back cover which is different?
I only ask because the Nexus 5 before it, the white one had far more cosmetic differences compared to the black one. The red one was cosmetically completely different all round. The earpiece dot was a different colour, and the body was matt-black on black model, and gloss-black on white model. Obviously the red one was, well, red.
Is it the same / similar with Nexus 5X?
There is presently a £40 GBP difference between black and white models in the UK (so I bought the cheaper black one, instead of the white I really wanted), but a genuine replacement cover (in any colour) costs around £18.
Anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks.
I have the white one, and looking at it, the only bits that seem like they'd be different on the black model are the backplate itself and the fingerprint scanner (though perhaps that is a cover built into the backplate? I'm not sure how that works!)
Other than that... The entire front including speaker grates of the white N5X are black. The sides and buttons on the white 5x are black. The headphone cutout is half black and half white (because it cuts through the backplate that wraps around the sides). I haven't seen the black one up close though.
The only difference is the colour. All 3 are prone to discolouration, the black from hand oils the white and blue from clothing.
Hmm, that's interesting....LG saving money perhaps...the cosmetic differences for N5's were much more significant. Thanks guys!
@funmerlin, so...are the sides of the white model a matt black or gloss black? I think the fingerprint scanner is part of the back cover, is it not?

The sides of the white model are matte black, it feels, looks, and is made of the same stuff as the rest of the phone. The scanner is not a part of the back cover. The unit itself is one of the three colors. I have the white and black ones; the black is prone to being "worn down" by finger oils that do not show on the white one.
Excellent. Thanks.
So is the fingerprint scanner connected to the mainboard in the back by the typical copper contacts type thing?
Basically, if I swapped the back cover on my black N5X, for a white cover, my FP scanner would still be black?

If you swap the black back cover for white, you will basically get a quartz color N5X. But fingerprint scanner will stay black. I think that it will look cool. You can also swap the fingerprint scanner, depending on the cost of a replacement part. Its a module attached to the mainboard sitting on the midframe, its quite easy to replace after poping up the back plate.

Look at arround 4:50 and you'll see how is the scanner attached. It looks like you will have to remove the plastic frame cover to detach it, but still not hard to replace.

12 bucks, not that expensive.

screen replacement - quality screen?

I pulled my screen off to fix an issue with my main speaker. In the process I messed up my digitizer display. I bought a replacement off ebay and it is garbage. Color does not look right, and not sharp.
Anyone have any success with a replacement screen/ digitzer that was resembled the original? Where did you purchase?
Thanks
