Linking contact problem

Hi
I like to link my phone contacts to my Facebook ones
Ive just had a friend accept my friend request on facebook, he appears on my friend list when i launch the facebook app and via pc
but when i go in via the people section on my phone, he's not on the list of facebook friends ???
Anybody else have this and/or a cure ??

Its done, synced and up to date (as it always is)
the problem is that the last guy i accepted on facebook (and is present when i launch the standalone app or on pc ) is not showing up under the contact list when going in through the link contact route!
ive linked all my other contacts without a fuss

while on people have you clicked on menu > view > and tick all the facebook contacts?

I might just have to let this problem go...its such a small thing but it's really pi**ing me off.
I've rebooted the phone on several occasions, ive logged out and in of facebook several times, nothing seems to want to budge the problem....ive even mailed htc about it !

have you tried updating your facebook contacts in the online directories, in the people application? ive just done it as i was having a problem with no facebook contacts showing up and its now working.

Facebook synch issue - possible solution found!!!

Log in to your Facebook profile and go into your Profile settings and enter a location in your workplace. Now try synch'ing your FB contacts on your HTC.
Worked for me and hearing reports of it working for others also.

Sorry dude, but I don't see anything that says "workplace" in my profile, are you refering to employer?

Yes.
I'd already set my employer in once before, but i deleted it earlier and re-entered it and my contacts suddenly started synch'ing again.

If only I could "like" this.

Try re-entering the account under Settings>Accounts & Sync see if it helps

It helps, but can only sync part of my facebook contact..

I did, as I had removed the account when it went wrong. still no phonebook synch.

I noticed when I flashed a new ROM that some facebook contacts were just missing when trying to link phone contacts to them. Others were there fine. I've since noticed that after a couple of days, some of those facebook contacts have appeared and I've successfully linked them to phone contacts. Others still aren't present. I'm presuming it's something at FB's end...

We have been working with Facebook to determine a fix for your facebook problems. In the mean time, we have found that some customers have success when editing their work profiles on their Facebook page. If you have added a company and have checked the box next to “I currently work here,” simply add the City / Town of your office. This will allow for HTC Sense to communicate with Facebook without failing. I don’t want to reveal so much detail on my profile, is there another way? You can also delete the work information, and add it back after we have made the appropriate changes to solve this issue. What happened? There seems to have been a miscommunication between Facebook servers and your phone and that caused an inability to sync updates. Here’s the troubleshooting: Step Failure Action 1. User phone is connected to the internet. Connect phone to Wi-Fi or 3g internet 2. User has valid Facebook account Sign up for Facebook 3. User has Facebook work information. Make sure Work information has city / location, or remove Current work information. This should solve your problem.

My problem is I can't even open up friend stream. I get an "unexpected error" and it closes.

no sync from contacts with go contacts ex app

hello world i have a strange issue with go contacts ex app. since changed from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 (it's not a ROM problem) and i create a new contact in go contact ex app, syncing with google account is no longer possible. i get an error "temporary no sync possible ..." but only on syncing contacts. calendar, emails, pictures and so on work fine.
so it's neccessary to delete contact-storage data and google account manager to fix this problem but after create a new contact this error come back. i found out only with stock app is it possible to create a new contact and sync with google account without problems. modify or delete a contact in go contacts ex app is always possible without a sync error.
have anyone else this problem and if so what is the solution? is there a solution? to fix this behavior temporary i create a new contact in stock app.

i feel so lonely no one else with the same rumble in the jungle?

I updated my sensation to 4.0 and how go contacts will not display Facebook contacts and it will only show pictures of contacts stored on phone.

I have exactly the same problem: but it's not clear for me how do you manage to solve it (partially)?

Im having the same problem, but for me I even if i clear contact storage i cannot sync... this is really annoying. Im on SGS3 LTE stock rom with root and cwm recovery

i have the same problem , could it have anything to do with the fact that FB changed everybody's email address to a @facebook.com ?

I had same problem after putting ICS 8.3 , but i used .vcf on my sd card. I just copied contact.apk back on system/app and install it again. And now i have all my contacts back and running

I have the EXACT same problem with the EXACT same workaround on a stock Galaxy S3.
I've tried populating/not populating various contact fields with no luck thinking that it might be some type of corrupt data issue. Anyone know if this is a confirmed problem with Go Contacts Ex?

I too had this problem on a Galaxy S3. Every time I added or removed a contact in Go Contacts it broke the Google contact sync. I replaced Go Contacts with ContApps and the problem went away.

Just use Friendcaster and problem is solved...

Just found this thread via Google. I'm running CyanogenMod 9 on a Samsung Rugby Smart, but I think I found a work-around. I removed the default setting I had applied to Go Contacts, went into the regular contacts, and then went into Sync and manually synced my contacts. I think it worked, but verification would be great.

I have the exact same problem and my solution was to just stop using Go Contacts EX. I tried deleting my google account and readding it, only to find my newest contacts gone. I got tired of trying to figure out why it didn't work and decided I could go without Go Contacts EX. Not the best solution, but at least my contacts sync between my phone and google now.

I'm not sure is it spam or not - please let me know. I've created ad-supported free app that fixes what GO Contacts breaks. It's available in google play: Contacts Sync Fix.

Thanks Nixolay, your app works great! It scanned my contacts and found 2 issues. What exactly is the issue go contacts is making?

I have just realised today, after about 3 weeks, and after some testing, that Go Contacts Ex breaks my contact syncing for my Google account. Once broken the only way I found to fix it is to uninstall it, remove and then re-add my Gmail account. I like the product but backing up my contacts is more important.

Try the "Contact Sync Fix" app
You also have an option to automatically check contacts error when phone is powdered ON

This is an issue well known from go team as it has been reported many time.
I don't understand why they don't fix it.
Many users stop using this nice app just because of this issue

Account & Sync Issue

Hello XDA,
Even though i use XDA website often, this is my first post so Cheers ! to everyone out there..
Need some advice and help on an issue im facing currently. I recently purchased Zuk Z2 plus on the amazon offer for 9k odd :cyclops: and as usual before i could go ahead and root the device, i wanted to check how it performs for few days. So i started to install basic apps like Evernote, Shareit, Whatsapp, Outlook, VPN, etc etc and after syncing my contacts via google email, as i normally use to on all my devices, i saw something called "CardDav" and "iCloud" in "Advanced Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Add account" .. and at the same time im unable to open the option called "...Other" under Accounts & Sync. And whenever i click "Others", it returns back to settings page. So basically i have no control over accounts and sync. Is this a known bug ? and how do i remove these CardDav, iCloud stuff.
Can someone shed some light on how this gets installed ? because i dont find this on my other devices (Oppo A57, redmi note, oneplus 3). I know that its a protocol for syncing contacts and this has something to do with Google Contact Sync but i would like to have control over my accounts. Any help would be appreciated..

For those who are facing this issue, i resolved it by a simple factory reset, before i went ahead and unlocked my bootloader. I have installed the same apps which i had previously installed and verified the settings each time after setting the app up.
Its been 2 days and i havent faced the issue which i had previously. I have installed few major apps which could possibly auto sync your contacts like Linkedin, Outlook, Facebook, Whatsapp etc. Now i dont find carddav or caldav in my system and able to control my "Other" option in "Account & Sync"

Question Sync WhatsApp Business in contacts app

I use both WhatsApp (WA) and WhatsApp Business (WAB), with two difefrent phone numbers (private and work).
On my Google Pixel and XIAOMI Mi11 I have Google Contacts and for each contact I can see options to call/video-call/chat with either WA or WAB.
On my Fold 3 for each contact I see options to call/video-call/chat ONLY with WA.
Any idea?

I never even knew that was an option until your question here, but mine also only shows WhatsApp and not WhatsApp Business. I only have ever gone into both apps to message people from them, not from the Contacts list on my phone.

Same, but I came from iOS, so using WhatsApp through the contacts app was never possible for me lol.
