Yes one of those threads again, I do apologize in advance..
The GPS on my E973 is useless, I tried the GPS status app and its trying to lock for 30 minutes now, doesn't work outdoors, indoors, anywhere.. I checked the settings, everything seems correct, A-GPS data is downloaded..
I'm running stock 4.1.2 but rooted (GPS wasn't working before root either).. Tried this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44113974#post44113974 but it didn't work..
My previous phone (GS3) had exact same problem whereby GPS would not lock at ALL. The only fix that worked was NAM REBUILD in one of those Samsung hidden menus, it fixed the problem and GPS would even lock in my basement!
Are there any similar fixes for LGOG, can someone please help me out to find solutions? Thanks
bump,
anyone else have GPS issues with this phone?

UPDATE: GPS WORKS. I just went to settings, opened/closed GPS and made sure everything was ticked off.. Reset phone.. Then went outside and waited for 10 minutes and it locked on.. I used GPS Status App, reset A-GPS and downloaded new data..
However, it took a while and isn't as consistent as I hoped it would be, only locks onto 6/15 satellites... Unlike my friends GS4 and Nexus 4 which gets 20/21 satellites locked on.. Its also not good indoors..
But I'm just glad it works..
Is anybody else having GPS issues after updating to lollipop? I am using the app GPS Status and it does not connect to satellites according to it? It shows 21 satellites but connects to none. Is there anything I can do?
I'm having similar issues. Maps seems to still grab a signal however. Over the past two days it seems to have gotten better, but the sensitivity seems to have taken a nose dive.
I have used gps this morning and it worked. I didn't check how many satellites its connected to but it seemed to work ok.
Same problem here, GPS had been acting up recently, but I tried it on the way to work this morning and couldn't get anything. Tried turning GPS on and off and rebooting the phone, still nothing. I have no idea what else to try. It's set to high accuracy mode, not many other settings to change.
I discovered a workaround, although it's an annoying one, but if I switch my phone to CDMA only so that it's forced to use 3G, GPS works just fine. Switching back to LTE though it will not lock onto any satellites.
Tried it out this morning and had no issues when on LTE
What I felt is that there is some slight gps lag, like if I make a turn, gps will show I made the turn a couple of seconds later.
But no issues with gps lock while on LTE.

Yeah, I saw this under KitKat and now under Lollipop. Not sure if it's a Note 4 GPS issue or a mapping app issue, though - I was going to try some tests using a Garmin unit and GPS Test Plus on the Note 4, both displaying actual Lat/Long coordinates to compare the two (though not sure how well that will work given general GPS inaccuracies). At any rate, there is clearly some lag in the map position display. I don't have any acquisition or lock issues.

Ended up doing a different test. The consistent lag I have been seeing is with Google Maps. Today I did a 46-mile drive on freeways, highways, & surface streets and used Sygic mapping app. Sygic was dead-on the entire trip, showing the vehicle in intersections, etc. at the time the car was there - Google Maps would have been significantly behind. So my GPS seems to be working just fine but there is an issue with Google Maps. And GPS stayed locked-on the entire trip.

Yes I'm having problems too. I always use Google Maps Navigation and since the update it will randomly say "GPS signal lost" while driving. I am on the latest BOB7 stock rooted, fully updated profile and PRL.
guys i need help, my phone is LG G3 D855 international (2GB ram)
i cant remember when i started having this issues : my lg g3's GPS wont lock no matter what i do
i recently installed pokemon go 0.29 beta, only to find that i had a GPS problem
enabling a-GPS, restart, wont lock
set location setting to high accuracy (network and GPS enabled), restart, wont lock
set location history on google setting enabled, restart, wont lock
tried downloading GPS status & toolbox, it shows satellites, yes, keep showing around 0/16 to 0/21 fixes, wont lock
tried reset every sensor, calibrating compass etc, and reset a-GPS setting, redownload it, restart, wont lock
tried downloading fasterGPS, set continent and region to nearby, restart, still no lock/luck
yes, my phone is rooted, and i have titanium backup installed with gnss (GPS test) apps frozen.
android version 4.4.2 kitkat, i believe i had a working network connection, also correct date and time
and i waited 5 full minutes (or more) staring GPS status n toolbox app each tries above, outdoor, with clear view of sky
and i dont mess with gps.conf file on root/etc folder except when using that fasterGPS app
any help will be much appreciated
I have the same issue. Nothing locks the GPS signal.
In my case, on v30f Marshmallow Stock ROM. I sended the phone to SAT for repairing a week ago.
The phone is not repaired yet. If your phone still has warranty, use it.
sadly m8, as i stated, the phone is rooted. and it takes a really long time or very complicated process for warranty claiming here in my country
but hey. i just went outside and managed to get a lock. i just found out that apparently, rotating my phone clockwise with the screen facing the sky greatly speed up the fix. however, its just temporary. after a few secs, or whenever i switch to other apps (from GPS stat n toolbx app) the "lock" is gone.
please. if anyone know whats going on or what i had to do, will be much appreciated.

Hello,
I have this strange problem with the Samsung A50 given to me by my company (this to say that my possibilities to mess around "under the bonnet" are quite limited).
The first GPS fix from a "cold" start (that is, at reboot or after some hours from last use of an app using location) is EXTREMELY slow. It may take also 10 minutes or more, in full air and with good weather. If I control with the app GPS Status and Toolbox (or similar apps giving details on GPS sensors status) the phone "sees" a LOT of satellites, up to 20 or more, but none of them is fixed, they all are "yellow", and the location is not set.
When it finally makes it, one way or another, then the fix is stable and even if lost, it gets re-fixed soon in some seconds... For an hour or two.
Naturally this makes most app using GPS highly frustrating to use - Before running with Strava or navigating with Waze I have to wait 10-15 minutes for the GPS to fix! Google Maps is somehow an exception because it uses the Google "fused" location which, though not as accurate as GPS, allows nevertheless tp have an approx lpcation pretty quickly while the GPS makes its slooow fix.
But now the strangest thing: if I reboot the phone without SIM cards inside, the GPS works like a charm and fixes satellites on a matter pf 30 seconds max! Moreover, if I turn off the 4g on both SIM and then reboot the phone again, also it all works well. I tried multiple times and this cannot be a casual result. I also tried making a a full reset of the phone: the behavior is exactly the same. Seems like something in the 4G system causes some software conflict with GPS making it crappy.
Firmware is the latest (SH2 sept 2019).
Am I the only one? This looks to me definitely a software issue, not an hardware one, do you agree? Do any of you have commwnts, suggestions, ideas?
Thanks
Looks like I'm the only one with this issue?

And what about on wifi? Did you tried this?
The only thing that i can think of is on 4g probably it struggles to get agps data from the internet (probably cant connect to servers) but not trying to receive the data from the satellites themselves because it think it can get it from the internet. This is just wild guess.
I just tried getting GPS via cell data while taking a dump (inside the house), the GPS lock was instant in Sygic, also 15 satellites locked on.
I am having this same issue with an A50 I just purchased. I use GaiaGPS quite a lot and it works horribly on this phone. My tracks are a total mess. To the point that it is not usable. I will be returning the phone (if I can) if this issue is not resolved, as it is a key feature for me.
I recently upgraded from LOS 18.1 to 19.1. I was having issues with battery drain and finally decided to upgrade. The battery issues are completely fixed. A new issue cropped up with my profiles however. I have a "home" profile that disables the lock screen when my phone connects to my home wifi.
Since the upgrade, when my lock screen is disabled, my home and recent apps button stop working. Other things stop working as well like being able to copy paste between apps. My somewhat usable workaround for now has been to enable the recent apps screen when double tapping the home button, for some reason this works. I can return home by tapping the outer edge of the recent apps screen. This is what I'm running for device and OS:
Device - Poco X3 Pro (Vayu)
OS - LineageOS 19.1 microg Oct. 24, 2022 release(from https://lineage.microg.org/)
Recovery - TWRP
I found a bug report on Gitlab for the exact same issue here: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5189
They're reporting it as fixed for the most recent builds, which I'm currently running and still having the problem.
I'd really like to avoid a device wipe and reinstall as I have some MFA apps for work that would be a big pain to get going again. Does anyone know of any fixes? I'm guessing it's permissions related of some kind as it's like the device is only half unlocked or something. I've tried creating a new profile as well as disabling profiles, rebooting, and trying again, nothings worked so far. Should I just open another bug report on Gitlab? Appreciate any help.
This seems to have stopped, but I have little idea as to why. I noticed it stopped after I connected my phone to my PC with a USB to transfer files. After I did that, for some reason the lock screen disable is working fully as intended now. All nav buttons work, copy+paste, etc.
