Any of you guys having the same issue? Mine started acting up earlier today, LTE works completely fine but can't seem to get WiFi to work at home. WiFi connects just fine, does not show there's no internet or anything. Works for the first 15 seconds I toggle on and off but then nothing afterwards. I have tinkered around with my router settings, including switching to IPv4 as well as activating the option to randomize MAC address on my phone under developer options but to no avail.
Please advise, thanks in advance!
If you are doing that much tinkering then I bet you have done way more tinkering than you have explained.
More than its worth actually unwinding.
If your phone works on all other wifi but yours it is probably your router
If your router works for all devices but your phone your router is fine.
Factory reset your phone.
Dont install try to use it fresh from install if it works then your fine.
Just watch what you tinker with.
If it works it is something you did after the fact.
I've had exactly the same thing start happening to me today. No problems with data over wifi before today, and I haven't made any changes on the router.
All other devices seem to be unaffected when connected to that router, and the phone has the issue whether it's connected to that router or a separate access point (connected back to the same router, so it doesn't completely rule out a router problem.
Edit: It seems that when the problem starts it's only internet traffic that's not getting through - I can still access servers on the local network.

That sounds like a DNS problem, are you using anything that changes dns servers?

It does seem to suggest a DNS problem. I just have Pie's "Private DNS" setting set to Automatic, but I would assume that applies to LTE networks as well as wifi, whereas LTE data is unaffected for me.
As a test, I've set Private DNS to Off now, and I'll see if that solves it.

"Android then sends all DNS queries over a secure channel to this server or marks the network as "No internet access" if it can't reach the server" sounds a bit like what you're experiencing

That's interesting. Setting Private DNS to Off has so far fixed the problem for me. I'm guessing that my mobile network's DNS servers don't support DNS over TLS, which is why LTE wasn't affected with it set to Automatic, and my wifi's DNS provider does support it but is currently broken.

I believe that's the case, I turned off Private DNS and it seems to be working fine now.
Thanks a lot guys! Very interesting.
I'm here with this issue now, I'll turn off private DNS and give it a try, this is driving me mad. thanks everyone!
Edit: been using the device for 30 minutes now with no problems, thanks for the solution!
I'm using a local DNS server (Pi-hole) to block ads and I had to turn off Private DNS, otherwise my phone was also reporting that it had no Internet access.
Private DNS seems to cause issues to many people
Never mind i'm foolish.
Holy crap, thank you guys. This just started happening to me and my wife a few days ago and thought my router was going bad since it was multiple devices. Then I noticed today that my laptop and a few other wireless devices were having absolutely no problems.
On mine it's being caused by the Snapchat update from a few days ago. Avoid Snapchat and WiFi is flawless again, as soon as I open it the WiFi stops working and I have to turn WiFi on and off before it springs to life again. Exactly the same on my eldest's 2xl and youngest's P10 lite.

I have a strange problem with my Galaxy Nexus. When I connect to the internet using the mobile network, the connection is extremely slow. (And by slow I mean around 2-3 minutes to fully load the google mobile search page). I tried the "Speed Test" app to test the network speed, but it simply fails after a while mentioning "Network communication issues" (maybe it times out?).
The weird thing is that other devices can access the internet fine when connected to the internet through the Nexus by enabling its WiFi hotspot feature. So the other devices can use the Nexus's internet connection with acceptable speeds while the Nexus itself can't. Anybody got any ideas as to why this happens? One thing I could think of was that the DNS given to the Nexus by the mobile network being slow (whereas the other devices connected to it use the DNS in their WiFi settings). I tried to verify this by using the "DNS Changer" app, but it didn't solve the problem, although I'm not sure that it actually changed the DNS used by the Nexus.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Bump for a solution for this man!

Problem solved!
Finally found the culprit! It wasn't DNS after all. My carrier's data settings include an IP and port for a proxy. When I configured the APN on the phone, I entered them simply because they were there. Turns out that keeping them empty solves the speed issues on the phone. So the bottleneck was the carrier's proxy server. I guess tethered clients don't use the proxy setting on the phone and therefore didn't experience the speed issue.
Inspiration fixed wifi hotspot not connecting to internet
I wanted to thank you because your solution helped me fix my problem. I couldn't connect my native wifi hotspot on my GSM Galaxy Nexus to my Nexus 7. The wifi indicator would come on to my N7 but it stayed gray (i.e. wasn't connected to the internet). Turns out that last month I set up an APN to connect to T-Mobile via IPv6. Well, apparently, this creates a problem with using the wifi hotspot. I switched back to regular T-Mo connection and...if works! My GNex/N7 combo is fully functional. Thanks again for the inspiration!

You are my hero man. Thank you
I never had problems with my Galaxy note 2 when it came to wifi until I stayed over my mother's house.
My Galaxy Note 2 constantly kept disconnecting, and reconnecting to her router.
I clicked forget network to monitor the signal strength. There was full bars and the signal never got lost.
So I did what a normal user would do. GOOGLE. And I saw A LOT of people experiencing this issue.
Yet there was no solution to the problem! Everyone is hoping to see an update and blah blah.
So I decided to try to figure the problem out myself.
I thought about it. What's different between my mom's optimum wifi vs my Verizon FiOS wifi.
My router has one network name.. Wait my mom has two? Hmmm...
DX20PR.. *disconnects*......... DX20PR 5G *connects*
WALAH! No more disconnecting and reconnecting.
Moral of the Story: If your Galaxy constantly loses wifi signal, check if your router has a '5G' signal, connect to that instead.
Why this works? idfk. But it solved my problem, and hopefully this will solve someone else's problem :good:
If you have AT&T Smart Wifi installed on your phone then that's been known to cause problems also. I had constant wifi connect/disconnect problems until I uninstalled it.
wifi issues set router to use one channel only
I had disconnects a lot as well until I changed my router setting to use only one channel.
I've seen this problem on multiple phones that I've had. A quick restart on the router always fixes it. Lead me to believe it's the router

Make sure you mom's router isn't set to lower then 50 DHCP Address: EX. 192.168.0.50
Sign into the router usually 192.16.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 from web browser. Go to DHCP Setting and make sure you see 192.168.0.XX (XX being the amount of device that can obtain a ip address to get access to internet). If it lower then 20 change to 50 or little higher.
Hope this helps
If my WIFI security is using WPA2 my GN2 will lose internet connectivity after some time of the screen being off. The only way to get it back is by turning off WIFI on my GN2 and turning it back on. I don't have this problem using WEP security in the router. However, using WEP security is less secure and severely limits WIFI speeds (can't use N speeds).
[Updated on 01/29/13]
I just want to provide a follow-up to this. I recently learned about the ARP table in my router which is responsible for mapping the IP address to its MAC address. If my GN2 doesn't access the internet for a certain period of time its IP address is removed from the ARP table and I have to toggle the WIFI on my phone to gain internet access again. I found that manually adding the IP/MAC address of my GN2 to the ARP table solved this problem. In a 24-hour period I've lost internet access 1 time after about 7 hours of inactivity (I was sleeping) and I gained internet access after a few minutes without having to toggle WIFI. I'm only sharing my own personal experience with this issue in the hopes it will help others. Below is the command I used to manually add a static entry into the ARP table of my router (model: Buffalo WZR-HP-G300N, firmware: DD-WRT):
arp -i br0 -s 192.168.0.101 38:AA:3C:85:1F:7C
I have WAP 2 and I don't lose internet connection. Yes I have a small delay when the SN2 wakes up but it connects right away. Go to your wifi setting and hit forget this network and re enter your pass key and see if this might help. You might have another device using the same ip address.

This did the trick for my father-in-law who was in town with is AT&T Galaxy Note II. His wifi kept turning off/on and disconnecting from my router and I couldn't save the network connection. My router is setup with an N network and a B/G network both with WPA2 , and he couldn't connect to either without the issue (everything other wifi device had no problems). I didn't uninstall the "AT&T Smart Wifi" just went into Manage Applications, stopped the services/application it was running and disabled the application. Immediately the phone was able to connect and keep connection with no problems. I didn't need to restart the router or do anything else.

Was starting to have a panic attack at work as it would not connect at all to my WPA2 network and i just bought this phone of craigslist. Your advice of removing that crappy program fixed everything! Thank you!
ok so i searched everywhere for this and couldn't find a solution. i have a note 4 and it will connect to my home wifi just fine. i can search the internet on it, but facebook doesn't load and neither do certain games and the app market loads very very slowly. when i had my S4, it would do everything just fine. i was at my friends house and connected to his wifi and everything loaded lightning fast. so i know it's a problem with my wifi, i just don't know what.
my modem is netgear and my router is belkin AC 1200
any ideas on what to check so i can fix it? i suck up a lot of data lol
Do a speed test on your wifi with another device to determine if it is your phone or your wifi. How does your phone perform on 4g? Does it do the same thing?
the wifi is fine. i can browse the internet, watch netflix, etc. When i'm on my data, everything loads like it normally would.

Try hard resetting you router and before customizing it(changing SSID, encryption, etc...), test it with your phone to see if its any better.
it didn't seem to help. it's dual band and i tried on both. it wouldn't even load the google play until i switched bands.
any other ideas of a possible fix?

Yes.
I just got my VZW Note 4 yesterday and noticed almost the exact same problem. There is a little bit of info out there talking about things like power saving mode and stuff, but I noticed that my speedtest.net throughput was excellent. My next thoughts were DNS resolution or an IPv6 problem. Turns out my wireless router had a default setting with IPv6 routing enabled, but my ISP does not serve IPv6. You may notice the same kind of initial lag on Ubuntu installs (especially with certain VPS providers) where every single command you issue seems to take ages to start, but then completes quickly. I know how to deal with Ubuntu to force a preference for IPv4, but a locked down Samsung phone is a different matter entirely. Thankfully, I was able to just turn it off in the router.
For my specific router (Belkin AC1200 DB), the user interface has an IPv6 settings page, but the options they present to end users isn't intuitive. I changed my 'connection type' on this page to "Local Pass-Through Only", and my problem immediately went away. Have a look and see if you find anything similar.
Thanks, and good luck!

DUDE!! this is exactly what i was looking for. i think this fixed my issue. surfed facebook briefly and it loaded everything instantly. i'll check more as the day goes on. thanks so much man
Fixed My Issue too!
Hey Guys
Newbie here! I just wanted to say that this fixed my problem as well. I don't usually post as you can tell by my info but this was worth coming out of the dark to reply to.
Now to clarify, I too have a Belkin router AC1200 so it may be specific to those. Anyway thanks for the help and enjoy the fish!
someone sticky this! i have the same wifi issue , i am at work right now but i will try it when i get home! , i hope this works!
I am having this same issue bUT Comcast here uses ipv6 as well,I have a Belkin n1 router what do I do?
---------- Post added at 07:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:50 PM ----------
never mind i disable ipv6 in my comcast modem and it seen to do the trick, any idea why this is happening?
I've been having the exact same issue on my Note 4. for the past week or so. Our router/modem is a DPC3941T from Comcast, and I can't seem to find how to turn off IPv6. This setting was under Connections > Local IP Network. If anyone could help instruct me further, you would be a great help. I'm pushing my data cap for the month as it is because of this >.<
I'm having the same problem too. The funny thing is that I went to the Verizon store to see if they could trouble shoot it and the phone did not work on their wifi network either! I realize now how to access my IPv6 settings in my router and that does seem to fix the issue. Unfortunately I cant imagine very many businesses with wifi networks will allow me to reconfigure their router everytime I want to use wifi.....
I started having this issue when I upgraded to lollipop. My Netgear C6300 AC1750 doesn't seem to have an option to disable ipv6 though. Any suggestions?
Since having nextdns as private dns in Note 10+ enoyxs for 2 week or so( or so I believe), my connectivity to both wifi and data has been worst. Everyone in the house has the connection except me. I have heard Nextdns blocking few domains but I checked whether that was issue and is not. Furthermore, recently I had gone through hidden call network through Activity launcher and had gone through several band selection(hasn't changed it though, just checked whether it would provide the best band). Has this changed anything? Please help. P.S. Australia based
I occasionally had problems with connectivity with the nextdns as private dns while travelling in Europe. When issue happend I found that setting private dns to off and then back to nextdns would help. For awhile though.

I tried to turn off/on several times but no good. Anyway, thank you.
When I open Google Translate and conversation it will often give me Speech input isn't available for selected Language. But I I turn off Wi-Fi then it is available.
This issue can be replicated on 3 different Pixel 6 Pro Phones (mine, my wife's and @card13). We have already attempted uninstalling the app and clearing all saved data for the app.
When opening Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook, the pages do not refresh unless I disable Wi-Fi, then after a refresh I can turn the Wi-Fi back on.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues or have a fix for these issues? We noticed these issues shortly after we got the phones, applied the Dec Build and set them up for the first time.
My wife and I haven't had these issues. Are you stock, unrooted, and running the March firmware?
@roirraW "edor" ehT Mine is rooted, my dad's and stepmom's is not. We are all three on the the Stock March 12.1 update. When I setup their phones back in Dec, I had done a temp root to allow SwiftBackup to run (my stepmom uses WeChat and they don't have a good backup/restore function).
I have had this as well.
I've not faced this problem, but a couple of questions. Any vpn involved? private dns? I assume multiple wifi are involved but i'll ask anyway. Antivirus or firewalls? Pihole?
Common carrier (i.e all xfinity wifi)
@Nergal di Cuthah I can confirm no VPN is running (at time of incident) nor is Private DNS enabled. I have only experienced the issue on my dad's Wi-Fi (Asus AC router w/Google and Cloudflare DNS and CenturyLink Fiber), but he has mentioned that it has happened for him on the local Hospital's Wi-Fi. All three of us have ESET Mobile Security installed on the phones. All three of us have T-Mobile Carrier for cell, Wi-Fi Calling is off and in "Developer options" "Mobile data always active" is turned on.

I've had this issue on some public networks and on my personal network. Each time it happened turning off WiFi would correct the issue. On a whim I tried connecting to a VPN when it happened and that also corrected the issue. I haven't nailed down the problem on my network yet but I was also using Google and Cloudflare DNS. I changed those and the problem went away. It has happened randomly off and on since though. I'm almost positive it's DNS related but can't quite pinpoint exactly what's causing it. I can run a VPN on my phone or directly on my router and the problem goes away completely though.
I'm inclined to believe this issue is Android 12 based. The reason is nothing networking has changed on my dad's network since we got our P6P, and our OnePlus phones (6T and 8T) running LOS 18.1 (Android 11 based) have never had this issue. Unfortunately there isn't a LOS 19.1 out for our old phones to fully test that theory.
Another reason why I'm inclined to not fully blame DNS (although it might be a contributing factor) is I use the same DNS servers at my house where the issue is rarely experienced.
I found a solution, Microsoft translate works fine every time with Wi-Fi. It is amazing that a Google phone can not reliably connect Google Translate with a Wi-Fi connection.....
Just tried mine. April, rooted and kirisukira kernel 2.1.0, Google translate works great via wifi and mobile data. Either or.
