I am using magnets affixed to my hard case so I can mount the tablet to a somewhat otherwise difficult to mount location in my vehicle. The magnets I have placed on the hard case seem to have no noticeable effect. But as I place the tablet to the secondary magnets affixed to the vehicle, the screen goes black and will only come back on when removed from the mounted position. I am fairly sure this is the action taken by the tablet when the magnetic cases some use is closed which triggers the screen to standby. Is there ANY way to disable the magnetic field sensor? This seems now to be my only solution.

I would just move the magnet. Its only triggered in one particular spot.

solution
after playing around i found that the leather cover has magnet on the handle which sticks on the back side of pro 2 when the flip is closed, and most interesting thing what i found was if that magnet is exposed over the phone call , or phone end button ,it triggers the power on, after i removed that magnet from the leather cover and i don't have any issues, so guys please be ware while selecting the leather case, at least try it once if you are willing to get one with magnet

Nothing wrong with you phone. The phone goes on when you slide your keyboard out. This is triggered with a magnet. Some leather cases have there magnet on the bottom side of the phone. This is where this triggers is placed. So I would ask you money back and look for a cover that has no magnetic lock, or one with a the lock in the middle/side (book wise) Or like mine on the top as PDAIR has done.

Do you have EXACTLY THE SAME case as you showed on url - from NOREVE manufacturer?
Take a look at this thread :>
Undocumented feature.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523842
I am using the Noreve case and I didn't have this problem.
I recently bought one of these cases for my nexus 7 from ebay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nexus-7-Sli...vers_Keyboard_Folios&var=&hash=item61d421e990
The latch that holds it closed is actually a magnet, now I didn't think about it before, but could the magnets for the latch damage the screen?
OK the latch magnet is actually facing which allows it to stick to the metal button. But the side that faces the screen, that did of the magnet has a little magnetic strength.
Anyone know if that could mess the screen up? Perhaps cause dark spots?
there are many devices with magnets , Galaxy S4 , iPads , this Nexus and the previus, it shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks, I just meant because there is a magnet above the screen perhaps it would damage it.
The magnet on the case should not affect the tablet's IPS panel in any way - or any capacitive input screen, for that matter. You should be fine with the case. However, the Nexus does have a magnetometer, so I'm not sure if it would affect that in any way. I don't think it will if you're using it with the flap open, though. The magnetometer is located on the side of the screen, so with the flap open, it should be far enough away that it won't screw up any readings. Plus that looks like a pretty small magnet anyways.
Oh ok, good to know. Thanks.
The Nexus 5 (and most phones and tablets, I assume) that have official Active/Quick covers use a magnetic sensor. All you really need is any flip cover (I got mine for $5 at a flea market), a flat craft magnet and a little double sided tape.
The magnetic sensor is in the circle marked 'A' in the pic above, I put the magnet underneath the credit card flap in circle marked 'B'. The simplest way to know the correct placement is to turn on the screen, move the magnet around until the screen turns off, put a little sticky tac on the magnet, close the screen so the magnet sticks to the cover. Done. Just tape it in place. If you don't have a credit card flap just cover the magnet in a little fabric.
So i bought a Dot View case for my M8 am and pretty underwhelmed by the lack of useful notifcations I get.. virtually none.
What I do like is the fact that it automagically turns on and off when I open and shut the case.
I assumed this is done with a magnet underneath the HTC logo on the flip cover, so I applied a small piece of magentic tape to an ordinary flip case that I prefer to use, however cannot get it to turn the phone oon and off.
looking closely at the dot case there appears to be something in the case on the rear of the phone opposite where the HTC logo is on the flip cover. Is this having an effect of the operation.
Does anybody know how this works, and how I can emulate in another cover?
I've done some tests with a dot view case, and with a few others.
Basically, it's just a small magnet placed above the screen, positioned about 3 cm from the left edge and 6.5 cm from the bottom edge of the phone, which turns it on or off.
If you can find a magnet thin & strong enough, and put it in the right place, you can virtually emulate the effect on any flip case.

Thanks for your reply, perhaps the magnetic strip i used wasn't strong enough.
Are you sure about the "3 cm " from the left hand edge?.. looking at my dotview cover it seems to span from about 0.5cm to 2cm from the LH edge?
Every flip case I own do this and have no magnets. Open cover and screen turns on. I thought it was maybe a light sense but Idk? I have the Watson flip case I think made by Incipio? Also a generic eBay one made of leather.
If your screen turns on/off, it's that your covers have the small magnet inside. Try it with a piece of cardboard or anything else and you will see the behaviour is different
Hi
Bought the XA1 ultra couple of days ago. I've noticed that it doesn't have the double tap to open feature. However i was hoping that it would work in a flip case with magnetic closure. Bought a case with that function but the phone doesn't do the sleep too wake. Is their an option in the settings to enable this ?
Thanks
There is no option in the software. I have the official Smart Cover, and I believe there is some sort of magnetic placement in the case that triggers it. Hard to tell whether there is an NFC chip or something like that, but as far as I know, only the OEM cover has this feature.
Keep in mind that lifting up the cover to wake is no faster than pressing the power button. This I can confirm this first hand. The delay seems to be the same as the button, which to me is slow anyway with around a half second delay. You're not missing out on much, trust me.
Thanks for the info. Any idea if rooting might help me find a way to unlock from sleep.?
Thanks
The phone has a hall sensor and a tiny magnet triggers the Sleep - Wake feature. The position of the sensor is on the top left corner of the phone just below the bezel - where the carrier information appears. I had a T2 ultra before with a Nillkin flip case that had the sleep wake function. Ordered a Nillkin Qin case for the XA1 Ultra and found out that it did not have the sleep wake feature. Just popped the magnet out from a old and torn case that I had earlier and positioned on the inner flap of the flip cover so that it touches the sensor position when closed. Pasted the magnet with a bit of glue and covered it with a patch of suede so that it does not scratch the glass. Voila - I have a working sleep and wake flip cover for the XA1 Ultra. Any small and thin magnet will do , preferably from a old donor case , else look for a thin button magnet from small Fridge-Magnet stick-on pieces.
Thanks for the Info
Will look for a magnet. Have a couple of fridge ones will try them first ?
